PS3 EvilNAT 4.89 (RSX Overclock - 600MHz) Dual Fan Mods - Testing Temps, Visuals, & Fan Speed
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- Welcome to another PS3 Video. Today I test my newly modded PS3 with dual fans and a new CFW with an Overclock Patch. I am still learning a whole a lot with the PS3 and this is for demonstration purposes. I am an amateur and just having fun with homebrew and modding in general.
In this video we take a look at Temps, Visuals, and Fan speeds. My fan setup is through webMAN set to Dynamic at Auto 2.
The Mods on my PS3 are as follows... The back of the console has 10 holes and 2 120mm Fans for more airflow, intake and outtake. The front has 4 holes to allow more inflow to the main PS3 Fan.
New Thermal Compound has been added to the CPU and GPU RSX Chips.
As far as the Custom firmware goes this is experimental and it has a Overclock patch of 600MHz. Using any type of overclock will create more heat thus risking potential damage to your console if not watching your temps.
I used the webMAN overlay for the fan speed, CPU/GPU temps, Game Name, etc. I simply pressed L3+R3 on XMB to initialize the layout.
I know the risks that involves this kind of stuff so please proceed with caution when using this type of experimental CFW. I assume no responsibility on damages that you may have with your system.

PS3 was so ahead of it's time, a powerful homebrew & emulator beast! the only flaw was heat management.
-A Proud PS3 Owner
Because of Sony's fan setting/configuration which can be fixed.
PS3 hasn’t got thermal issues just faulty rsx on ps3 fat. Degradation of thermal paste under the IHS is due to age outside of the consoles product life.
Great content. I have been keeping a close eye on the rsx overclock and this video is much appreciated. May I make a few requests for any subsequent videos on this topic. Firstly, it would be great if you could get the same, or as close to the same sequence from the same game across the stock clock speed and overclock. This I feel would give an even better view of the difference in performance. Secondly, It was difficult to see what impact the overclock had on temperature as when the overclock was running the system was actually cooler as a result of an increase in fan speed. Locking the fan speed for both runs would help with this i think. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching and for the feedback I really appreciate it. I will be doing more tests and make sure to do a better job!
how did you get yours to work?
Testing games that already run at 30 without overclock is just dumb
This really helped with GT 5 and Killzone 2
you should've tried the original bioshock as it has an option to disable the 30 fps limiter (though you will very rarely really go much over it)
Bioshock 2 has it as well. Sadly Bioshock and Bioshock 2 keep the v-sync enabled so you keep having a performance penalty.
You might consider using liquid metal between the RSX and the IHS. I have my fan speed set to 37% locked and it never goes over 66C with the 4.89 600mhz OC.
I may have to do that, just recently hit 70 playing bioshock after 2.5 hours. Thats also with unlocked fps
I set my fan to 51%, as I've noticed thermal throttling above 60C. It never goes above 56C.
repasted, single bottom fan, top fan vent and I'm stable at 60°c at 38% fan speed
Also I'm at 750mhz oc
@@bananamonkey6866 put the fps on and monitor the fps when the ps3 goes over 60C
Lets see will these 30fps games still run at 30fps if we have more performance???
Can't say I noticed much difference, but that may be because of RUclips compression ? Would be interesting to see you try it with games that run at 60fps like Rage and see if that helps to maintain a more stable 60fps target.
Rage is one of the most stable titles in terms of mantaining the framerate. Mostly because of the variable resolution that goes between 640x720p to 1280x720p.
God damn, what a throwback. I remember using my dex PS3 to RTM on black ops 2/ mw2 lobbids and not to mention the GTA4 menus! fun times.
You act like people dont do this to this day… Everythings still online the only one the left was you the fun times never left only you left
@@Jamie-cg7mv didn't even know PlayStation Network was still online for the PS3 tbh. I'd rather use my pc and stuff instead.
@@ireallyreallyreallylikethisimg fair nothing beats nostalgia tho
Thank you so much for all the videos. it's been so helpful in helping me mod ps3's! would you be able to make a full guide on ps3 PKGI? that would be immense! :)
Try out some Dead Island with the overclock if you can! That game is one of my favs for PS3 but it has kind of a rough frame rate. Anyways, I think that game could have some noticeable benefit from the overclock and it might help with not only the FPS but the slight screen tearing the game suffers from too.
Also, I have an mClassic as well! Dude, it is THE BEST investment for consoles from the Nintendo Switch and below... It makes a much bigger difference than one would think. I have also ordered a AudioQuest Cinnamon HDMI 4k Cable to add to the setup as well, as it seems like that high quality HDMI cable makes a bit of a difference visually and audio-wise as well. I really want to do the fan mod on my PS3 too... at least do the holes over the fan area and add in some really cool programmable LEDs around the opening and use a really good mesh to cover from dust with some awesome interchangeable fan covers with different designs etc.
I love doing this stuff dude. Such a fun hobby... to show older console mad love like this.
dead island soo bad on ps3 lol
@@jigzyonline Yeah the framerate can get pretty rough sometimes lol. It's still a fun game though... but sometimes I'm a little jealous of the framerate it had on the olcschool Xbox 360 haha. Have you tried out Dead Island 2 on PS4 or Xbox One or the newer consoles yet?? I wonder how it stands up to the old ones!
I wish someone can copy the way Sony apply a liquid metal on PS5 to the PS3. Maybe a custom Series X like vapor chamber so that we can easily overclock the system to get lock 30fps on all games.
Great video Champ. How do you switch the different power levels? 🥊🔥🙏
Wow, that's a surprise. Wonder if it's possible to rise RDR and GTA IV resolution to make it look closer to x360.
My PS3 is a CECHL-04 model, i just did repast on the CPU and RSX + new thermal pads. My temps for RSX in game never go above 52/53°C but CPU max is 70°C. I think i can use the overclock on me PS3 regarding the low temp of the RSX but i will delid the CPU and apply new paste under the IHS when i will buy new paste (i always use the Arctic MX-5).
I put a better fan in my fat model and modded a cheap little controller to adjust the fan speed manually, and set it to be at 50% at all time, and the temps never moved above 57c on GPU.
I drilled small holes underneath the fan aswell 😂 forgot to mention that, not my proudest moment but it works.
The console finally runs BO2 in a stable 60fps target, before when I stresstested it playing zombies in black ops 2 on split screen on farm it cound reach 15-22fps minimum and 30-48fps max.
Maybe I have won a chip lottery but my GPU is running (61celcius / 750Mhz / 800Mhz) most of the time anyways.
I have the CPU running at 3.4Ghz, way to scared to increase anymore then that, the temps are on a steep 68celcius on idle 😂
And how exactly you did 3.4 and 750?
Just got to say this… I LOVE the colour of your PS3, especially the front accent with the buttons on. Was it easy to do? I’ve got a PS3 slim and a PS3 super slim.
Great video man. I bought a PS3 slim last year and hacked it. I play it all the time with the DualSense and MClassic.
I think imma hold off on doing this for now because I don’t see the extra heat being worth the risk for a few fps and physically modding my PS3 scares me BAD.
Hopefully this hack is improved and we see a CPU clock boost as well, and hopefully I can save up enough one day to sell my slim and get a PS2 partial emulation model.
I just installed Evilnat 4.88.2 overclocked on my PS3 Slim CECH2001A and I love it, everything is smoother. On Syscon, the fan speeds are the same and quiet but this may be because I repasted it recently. The only thing I noticed was on 50 Cent Blood On The Sand it went from 70 to 72 C on RSX and not 1 c increase on Cell which was still at 58 playing for an hour. I tried webman 68 but that made it a jet engine so I set it to 71.
how'd you get yours to work? I'm not to sure how to download it properly.
@@itsOGP Oh it's easy. You just flash the overclocked firmware like any other cfw. The overclock is always active but you can see your fps and temps with Webman if you wish.
@@cemsengul16 can you elaborate a bit? I’m still kinda new to this but if this has anything to do with BG toolkit apparently it’s down right now. I’d appreciate if you could walk me through this especially since every overclock firmware I download says corrupted.
@@itsOGP Well do you already have a custom firmware installed like Rebug? If so you can just run the installer from XMB and if not you need bgtoolset. I used an unofficial mirror called furever.me but I don't know if it is still active.
And I'm use to having a hottie system
I had a clevo gaming laptop with a gtx 880m Kepler variant
Stock speed 954mhz and Temps would be 93 degrees all the time and throttle nightmare...
There are people who have added liquid metal to ps3s. I am about to also. I have got copper heat spreaders to improve heat transfer and be un reactive with the liquid metal. Circuit lacquer for protecting the immediate area around the processor and GPU from shorting. And some thermal grizzly liquid metal. Mx4 thermal paste to go on top of the heat spreaders. Should be cool to overclock then! I dont think will get any more that 100 mhz gains though. Its not just heat that will make the system unstable. To high clock speeds can scramble other components on circuit board. I heard a rumour that the PS3 originally run at these higher clock speed but was under clocked at the last moment because of overheating issues.
Your PS3 caps will die
@@miregoji2959 seriously
Did you tried enslaved ? That one really suffered from frame drops and tearing.
Great vid
Dang talk about luck with the "free" RSX delid.
I got it right once, and that was my first try. I was relatively rough with it and even scratched the surface on one spot.
It worked.
I tried it with a different console while being much more careful and delicate, and it broke.😑
I would like to add that for the comparisons, it would be better to compare the same scenarios.
Apples to apples, basically.
I was curious to see if the overclock could remove that slight stutter in Alice madness returns.
The bioshock 2 test was great.
Excuse me, do you have the RSX Boost 4.89 update? I think the link is down. De por sí muchas gracias 👁️ 👄 👁️ 👌
CECHL FAT console with 1TB SSD CFW 4.90 RSX Overclocked 600/750
I used twice cheaper and apparently twice as efficient liquid metal from China called LT-100. I've had over 30 hours of testing. The highest temperature I have recorded while playing every Crysis game. Speed fan always set to 28%.
RSX - 69 degrees Celsius for a short while, then drop to a practically permanent 68 degrees Celsius.
Cell - the highest I recorded when emulating PS2 games was 60 degrees Celsius. In over 30 hours of testing, I never once saw 70 degrees Celsius on the RSX. Testing time is approximately an hour of playing each of the tested games.
Below are some of the results I recorded.
MGS4 Cell - 59 RSX 62
Uncharted2 Cell - 57 RSX 62
MGS2HD Cell - 54 RSX 53
Killzone 2 Cell - 57 RSX 62
UT 3 Cell - 55 RSX 58
Bioshock Cell - 55 RSX 62
Dark Souls II Cell - 58 RSX 67 unlock framerate
God of War Cell - 58 RSX 64 unlock framerate
Battlefield 3 Cell - 55 RSX 58
Far Cry 3 Cell - 57 RSX 63
Skate 2 Cell - 57 RSX 60 unlock framerate
RDR Cell - 60 RSX 65
Crysis Cell - 60 RSX 69
Crysis 2 Cell - 59 RSX 69
If you just play on a CRT monitor it will run smooth like butter.
How can I Overclock My PS3 4.89 Evilnat
I installed 4.89 evilnat with the overclock but my system is still running at 500/650... what's going on?
How do you check the frequency?
So the PS3 super slim have much better cooling system then the slim model , i have super slim model &:
-GTA V (stock thermal past):CPU~65/RSX~85~86 fan speed 28%(without webman configuration)
-GTA V (new thermal past):CPU~61/RSX~69~71 fan speed 28%(with webman configuration)
No uses el contador de FPS de la ps3 ya que este sobrecarga un poco ala consola y hace que esté más lento
have you tried Grand Theft Auto V i wont do this on my ps3 fat over clock it
Dude... How tf do you accidentally delid your rsx😭💀
Pretty jealous to be honest though. I wish I could replace that crusty old thermal paste but I'm too scared to break something
My STOCK ps3 with the overclock runs colder then that and only 40% fan speed max 59°c on GPU. I think your cooling job is not that effective just saying
Is it just me but do they all look exactly the same?
how to overclock ps3, I have super slim games like last of us run very bad
@Maciej 404 okay how to do it on slim I have that one aswell? I'm runing evilnut
Does it work in phat?
I have ps3 super slim and gta v lag fps 23-28
How are you showing the usage. For me it only shows the Rsx and cpu usage in the comb menu but not in game
Cool to see this too bad games run at 30 and can't run any higher maybe this overclock would help to run higher frames
Hey man, in the year 2023 which link do I click for the overclock. The one saying 4.89 or Rebug. Also how exactly do you operate the overclock?
what about 650mhz ,i can't wait.😃
You should've tested kingdom hearts Re:Chain of memories Ursula boss battle since the ps3 seems to struggle a lot on that boss fight, the console starts frame dropping
Need for speed the run as well, the game overheats the console and it shuts off
Is the dual fan mod needed? I changed my paste a month ago and my temps never hit over 60 even after 2 hours of playing.
if you have webman installed you can bump up the fan speed and that should be enough unless of course you value your ears, also note that the ps3 slim doesnt have nearly as many heat issues as the original phat ps3
i don’t see any difference, i set the acceleration and didn’t notice the difference, don’t kill your console, you have a fan speed of 45%, this is critical, I’m sorry for your ps3
I have a physical stock ps3 slim and it runs cooler on overclock
doesnt really change much
Would love to see a gta v test
how do you get that overlay with the clocks? i see everything but core clocks
Has anyone made a 650MHz/675MHz version yet?
I downloaded the.self files. What directory do i put them in??
The difference between your CPU and RSX is ridiculous. I installed the CFW w/RSX Boost, and can say your temps are way too high. IDK why, I bought this Slim used and never changed the Thermal Paste[Yet]. I did put small holes over the fan but that was for intake, and to avoid it throwing air out. I would recommend both of your fans on the bottom/back of the PS3 to be Inflow, using Inflow/Outflow that close together, you're really just creating a pocket of hot air that the PS3 is generating and recycling to attempt to cool off the hot part. Anyways, just my 2 cents.
Can you turn the overclock off?
Can you do this on 43xxx (RTX board - 28nm RSX) models?
how did you get akari to show the mhz?
nvm its webman overlay
BRO IM SO PISS YOU DIDNT EVENT TEACH US HOW TO DO IT. I JSUT SEE A LOT OF SELF FILES WHEN I DOWN LOAD THE OVERCLOCK I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM AND I CANT FIND ANY STEP BY STEP IM SO SAD
.
Are you install?
Can I install this patch on 4.87 CEX Cobra 8.2
can i overclock on PS3 super slim?
What program do you use to see the info at the corner?
It's webman
Does it work on PS3 super slim?
No
How to install overlock?
Are you install?
Привет, как разогнать? Где посмотреть гайд ?
this costume firmware adds nothing , i cant see any different , you should get video of same location in game with overclock and original clocks to gets the point.
with 600mhz on gpu you should get solid fps or it needs volt mod 😋
Had issues with YLOD (not hardware based) after the overclock. My CECHJ03 PS3 will error when trying to show the Core clock and enabling FPS will result in a freeze after 10-15 second followed by a YLOD. After a database rebuild the problem is fixed and will run any game with the OC but after turning off or restarting the console the YLOD issue comes back. Any one else had any similar issues?
Reinstall CFW.
@@ekysboham Tried this, aswell as re installing the non OC firmware. The error code from syscon show a CELL Shutdown/Freeze which results in the YLOD as the PS3 Doesn’t detect the CELL.
Is it work with Hen 4.89
No cpu overclock yet?
I don't think so.
@@RoblesJuniorwhen there is one im sure that'll really help boost frames in these games
Link ?
Very fun at 100% fan speed
Lol

Its not the name its 7800 gtx. And 50 MHz its nothing you will not gain nothing from an old arquitetur of a gpu so base clocks of 50 MHz its nothing. And by the way the upscaler dont overclock your gpu.
Of course the mClassic wont help the GPU its just upscales the picture. I never said it would help the GPU, only to test visuals. Not sure what you mean by 7800 gtx but i never mentioned that at all. And there is improvement, i have seen stable frames througout gameplay. Its not by a whole lot but its something and its disingenuous to just say that you wont gain anything from it. I completly disagree but I appreciate the feedback.
I think its a 100 MHz increase, is it not? There are gains to be had, its you choice to pursue them or not. Personally I will. I have seen some games like Crysis 3 improve by up to 10 fps at times. Other games hold a more stable 30 fps. Its not some miracle performance gain but its significant in my opinion. Also its worth knowing that some ps3 games like GT 6 have patches that reduce the resolution to 720p to increase performance. When the overclock is applied as well, there is a near flawless 60fps. Add a M classic into the mix and we are back up to 1080p with the other benefits of that tech. There are videos demonstrating this on RUclips.
@@RoblesJunior they don't seem to understand the video's purpose i guess.
its extra 100/100 mhz to GPU/Memory and really make big deal more stable FPS my friend
do they?🤣🔥7800 gtx for ignorants its the gpu the rsx be well.
