You got to drive them to keep them in operating order as your well aware of. The worse thing for any car is just sitting there as things dry up and degrade. Still, a car of this quality is irreplaceable so great car should be given when it is thrashed!

Reminds me of my old 69. I put a 440 , holley dominator intake, 800dp holley carb, fender well hooker headers, crane 508/528 cam, 2800 stall , 4.10 gears with clutch unit traction. Looked just like that but no red stripes.

The Dodge sports should have came out in a 440 from 1968-1976. One thing that gets me, how did you get the air filter to fit under the bonnet? Every time I see a dart with a 440 they have a air scoop on the bonnet so the air filter fits. Or am I missing some thing? From the land down under.

Another great car! If it wasn't for Mr. Norm there may have never been a big block in a A body Dodge or Plymouth. The factory said it couldn't be done in 1967 when the new body style came out. Mr. Norm had his mechanics figure out how to put one in a 67 Dart then took it to Chrysler and showed them. That's when the GTS was born! Of course Chrysler didn't put a 440 in so Mr. Norm took a 383 car and installed the 440. They did make a limited number of 440 Barracuda's in 1969. 69 was the last year for the A body Barracuda. The 1970 was a E body platform. One of the Tech's I worked with in 1969 ordered a 440 Barracuda. It was quite a beast and he promptly turned it into a race car!

Also, in 1968 the GSS saw a drag-strip-ready Hemi version under the option code LO-23, the Hemi Dart; 80 were built with 426 Hemi V8s priced at $5,280. And there was also the Swinger, a similar idea to the GSS but it came with the GTS' 340 V8 rather than the 440 V8. It debuted in 1969 with a $2,995 price tag.

A close friend mentioned that GSS Label a few years ago when a group of us were talking cars.
The year was about 1972 or 73. He was at a respectable car dealer in WI. Saw a clean dodge charger and wanted to look it over. He noticed the label GSS and thought someone had played a prank. A salesman came charging out and started talking wanting to make a sale. It turned out the salesman knew it was a Mr Norm prepped car. Mr Norm did not just stuff a factory engine in a car and slap a label on it. NOPE, he modified the engine. Hot cam, reworked intake special exhaust.
My friend took the car for a ride out on interstate. He drove up to next town watching for cops and came back. When he stabbed the gas, the front end came up, the back squatted down, both tires were throwing streaks on the pavement, and there was a lot of squealing from the tires, he was stuffed back into the seat by the force. Even when the trans shifted into third the front of that car stayed up where it was in first gear. The speedo was way past 140 when he flew underneath an over pass. That made him realize just how fast he was going. He backed off and took it easy the rest of the test drive.
That was in a longer, heavier charger and that is why the much lighter Dart in this video went sideways.
He wanted that car but they were asking a lot of money. My friend told him the price was too high and left hoping they would come down. He stopped after work the next day and someone who knew what that car was bought it without even driving it. My friend was really sorry he didn't agree to the higher price when he had the chance. LOL

    MOPAR OR NO CAR !!
    👏☝️👍💪💪💪
Jason Johnson is truly blessed to have this Mr Norm GSS. I bet the manual steering (6 turns lock-to-lock?) and manual brakes (probably 4 drums - I hope the fronts are 11x2 or 2.5 inch!) - this car does require effort to drive, even at normal or slow speeds.
    CONGRATULATIONS!! AMAZING !!
I never had a 383 or 440 Dart, but I did have a factory 1969 Dart GTS 340, column shift 727, 3.55 SureGrip, front disc, power steering & brakes, 14x5.5 with E70-14 bias plys (factory D70-14), dark green with bench & all black interior. Supposedly it was factory with the flat hood - which I did not verify as factory. Wish I still have it! Engine had a slightly bigger cam, 2500 stall converter = 13.1 secs at 103 mph, on bias plys.

We are now moving to the mountains of central British Columbia Canada (Okanagan valley) and the TR6 is now my “gotta have” car - winding mountain roads! (not so cool for a 70’s Chrysler! lol).

I can’t wait to post a link to a shot of my soon to be had Triumph (sometime over this winter or early spring). I’m a “conceived” in Northern Ireland guy, to an Irish dad and an English mom . Can rember passing cars on 2 lane roads, getting up to 100-120 and having to slow down as there was another car in front. By the time you got to 60 the brakes were pretty much gone and you were gearing down so you didn't rear end them. I'm lucky to have survived considering a young dumb kid in a powerful car. Didn't notice that. I have the model. It was a real pain to build with the many miniature parts in that scale.

This car is almost identical to the car a former co-worker has that he bought new in 1968. His doesn't have the rear stripes though.
