The Little Black ant is a prolific ant species native to North America. Little Black ant colonies can reach up to two thousand workers. And while not as bad as other ant species, little black ant control can be difficult.
Little Black ants are extremely small -- typically only a sixteenth of an inch long. Though they are called black ants, they can range in color from dark brown to jet black. They do have a stinger, but it is too small and weak to be of any threat to use or pets.
Little Black ants can be found throughout the United States, but are densely distributed in different regions, such as parts of California and the East Coast. They can easily be found in wooded areas, but can also infest yards and homes. Nests in the yard can be found in decaying wood, along pavement or in sidewalk cracks, under rocks, or in yard debris like logs or bricks. Inside, they can be found in wall voids, behind decaying wood or wood work, behind masonry, or in kitchens.

Start outside with Reclaim IT. Use this with a hose end sprayer, following label instructions.
Broadcast spray the Reclaim IT in your yard for complete coverage. You can aslo spray any flower or mulch beds that might be harboring little black ants.
Next, use D-Fense dust around your home. Using a duster, apply D-Fense dust inside wall voids, under appliances, behind electrical fixtures, and into points of entry like weep holes or spigots.
Finally, for complete ant control, use Ant-Trax ant gel bait. Ant-Trax is a sweet gel bait that comes in a syringe for easy application. Apply Ant-Trax in locations where ant activity is common, such as kitchens, near appliances, near baseboards, and entry points. When baiting, be sure to remove any competing food sources by storing food in airtight containers or picking up pet food.
Prevent little black ants from returning by continuing to eliminate food sources in your home. Clean countertops, sweep, and vacuum regularly. Remove water sources by fixing any leaky plumbing. Remove yard debris, and trim vegetation back from the house. And be sure to spray follow up applications of Reclaim IT every three months for continued protection.

I learned one thing about ants. They don’t learn, no matter how much I kill the young blood they always come back.

There’s literally no trail. I see THOUSANDS of them walking around like a crowd of people running away from a wild bull. There’s no specific direction they’re going in… they’re just running around in weird directions. They took over the ENTIRE kitchen just running in crazy directions. I tried spraying them all but they RUN AWAY FROM IT and find new locations to be at.

also if they are spread out you can blow on them and they usually all run toward the nest

Every summer for 20 yrs the tiny black ants would show up in our kitchen. Finally last summer I mixed a small amount of 20 mule team borax with a small amount of honey on a piece of paper and put it on the counter top by the sink. Within minutes the mixture was covered with the tiny ants. We let them feast on the mixture and the next day and every day after, no more ants.

@@balthasargelt4098 Borax is fairly safe but I would avoid getting it on my skin or inhaling it and don't let pets or children ingest it. You only need a small amount to a few drops of honey, stir it with a screwdriver or even a wooden stick till its all mixed into the honey and let the ants feast on it.

Get you a camera and film us a series of bug wars. On the serious though i was thinking about this as well. Maybe not spiders because ,well spiders msn come on , i couldn't sleep if i thought there was an army of spiders roaming loose in my house. However i wonder what other insects would control these ants . i thought about praying mantis but im not sure if that would work out either. So i guess its suger and borax.

They come to avenge their fallen brothers.
I've found that sometimes the ants are more interested in the thing that is attracting them than the actual bait itself...so when you cleanup and leave only the bait, they sometimes loose interest and leave before the colony can suffer much damage. This might be because ants seem to cycle between a want for sweet versus protein/grease and most bait is sweet.
What I did was leave the food garbage in a place that wouldn't bother me too much to keep the ants coming and then I baited the trail. Some ants would go for the bait along the way. It took about a week or two, but the colony eventually got wiped out.
The story of my life right now. I have been at war since I moved into this mouse 6 months ago. Grrrr.

To avoid chemical use I mix half water and half vinegar in a spray bottle and then wipe down counter tops and window sills etc. The ants absolutely hate the smell and taste of vinegar so it always work for me. Save the chemical use for outside the home imo

Keep in mind vinegar only repels while it's wet, once it dries it no longer has the odor needed to repel
I've just recently found them in my room😱. The other day I felt a stinging in my foot, looked down and one of them was either biting or stinging me ! Don't believe that they're so small they don't hurt humans or animals. That lil sucker sting me worse than a bee and left a mark. Talk about painful 😢. I'm gonna try your vinegar solution bc I just spotted a few again and can't figure out where they're coming from

There's some holes I'm seeing in this video regarding treatment.
First one being the identification of the ant. Little black ants all look the same to the layman, but looking at their size, speed of travel and how loose or tight their trails are will tell you whether you're dealing with a Rover (sugar ant), odorous house ant (smells like windex when you crush one), argentine ant, acrobat ant, or any other species that find themselves in a home and requiring different methods of treatment. Particularly if you don't have a microscope or spyglass handy for proper physical identification. Dusting a Pharaoh ant, for example, is liable to make things worse as they'll move elsewhere in the house.
Assuming this video is dealing with the more common Rover house ant, dusting the crevices they're coming in from is one way to help get rid of them as they typically nest in the walls. Using a sweet bait indoors is not recommended, rather using the bait near garden bushes to help draw the ants out of the house instead of further in. Some ants require baiting indoors to solve the problem and it's suggested you contact a reputable pest control service that can give you a free inspection and quote (and advice if you know you can't afford it).
The video has it exactly right to seal up competing food sources, but that's just basic logic when keeping pests from wandering into your home in the first place. Spices, flour, sugar and grains will entice any assortment of ant, roach or rodent.

It would be nice if someone invented a spray that you can spray the ants that are in a line and the spray doesn't hurt them but coats the ants then you can use a tracking device that can sense the coating in walls and underground. Then track them so you can find where the ant colony is whether its in your wall or undergound. Then, you do whatever it takes to kill the colony. Poison bait. Pesticide. Liquid molten metal. Dynamite. I mean, whatever you feel is necessary.

Hello! Whoever is seeing this has obviously searched and is having problems with ants in there house or room. In my case the ants were in my room. I still don’t know where it’s coming from but here is how I got it to stop. I got a small container add in 3 teaspoons on baking powder one teaspoon of salt and water. Mix then when done add essential oils. This is optional but sometimes it smells bad so I add it. Get a fresh orange peel and let it sit for 30 mins then add to mixture. Put in spray bottle and after 30 minute it’s ready to use! Spray anywhere but try To avoid cloths and beds. Your welcome! 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
So I have ants in my room, and I've made myself dizzy following them around the room. There's no entry point....literally no entry point. I can't find where they are coming in. There is also no reason for them to be in my room, considering the fact that I am OCD, I clean the room constantly and I have a strict "no-food-in-my-room" policy. There is no reason for them to even be there- unless they all are suicidal and have simultaneously decided to end their lives as part of some sort of supreme ant cult. I've tried everything. No luck.

Noticed they were running g towards the outlet on the wall must be a nest in the wall somewhere behind the outlet. So I siliconed the little cap between the outlet and the wall. That only worked for a day they where back like I’m tired of them

this has been an issue every year that starts around spring time and all through the summer. i got an exterminator last year. did NOTHING! im tired of spraying vinegar in my bathroom. u kill some, 20 minutes later there's more. im starting to think they live in my walls. ugh!
The sad part about that is they do live in the walls. Around spring time, when precipitation is happening more often, they will move into the house. I had the same problem last year. I actually killed most of them only to find out that they multiplied ten fold and came back this year.
Just found a whole swarm between our dishwasher and the cabinet. Sprayed a lot of Raid Ant and Roach spray, recleaned counter with a clorox wipe (do that every day), then, am rerunning the dishwasher, with clorox added.

It's just I found out that the ants were coming from this tiny whole in my wall from outside so idk if the ant bait gel is killing all of them but I'll have to put something outside to create some kinda barrier. But yes , the products that is listed in the video do work bcuz I used all of these when I used to work as a pest control tech.

I took care a lot of them but still everyday I see ants in the house. I will mention the House we moved to wasn’t remodeled that great. A lot of cracks and ways for them to get in somehow, but still it’s beyond ridiculous. I can’t go in a room without being paranoid.

I live in a wooded area; my house is clean all the time. I have black ants, and I have giant ants. And, really, it doesn't matter what I use, I've used everything. And, and nothing has worked. After awhile I just stopped caring. But now they're biting me when I sleep. I just woke up. I have two ant bites on my right hand, and three on my lower back. At this point, I don't care if they're in my house because I can't stop them, I just want them to stop biting me.

You don't even need to do so much. Even we have the tiny ghost ants (tapinoma melanocephalum) but because we tried to never let any food fall on ground and always covered food, their numbers decreased and now no more a nuisance because of very small numbers.
We cleaned area near a window. We mopped floor and swept area. They came back tho seeing more on the table now. We do have a plant on table as well.

With all these ant problems and people wanting to do drastic measures about them, these ants are ridiculous. I've been finding black ant patrols all around my house. I've been killing about 5 of them on a daily basis, maybe more. Sometimes I wish I had nanobots that could track down ants and eliminate them. Sheesh.

Just moved to a new house, but those little pests are everywhere. No matter how much I clean.
Yesterday I walked in the kitchen and there were thousands just so many all over my kitchen counter
I just sprayed them with windex and wiped them down and then cleaned the whole kitchen and re organized some stuff and so far I haven't see a lot.

i have tiles in my shower and one has a tiny crack. we removed some tiles where the crack was and i almost vomited of how many ants there were they took up like 1 and a half tiles lol

i have ants in my door room and got spiders in the bathroom (yes i clean frequently!!) 🥲 i covered the floor in vinegar/water and cleaned everything but im scared they will come back

I have flying ants in one side of my house(all three floors) but just one side. I’ve put out ant poison traps and it seems it’s worked for the workers but not the FLYING ANTS.
Are you sure it’s flying ants and not termites?
Every year during spring ants just invade the house and terrorize me I have bad paranoia and one was crawling on me and I almost died

Found a few of them hanging around my window and I have Lego everywhere. Fuck
These little annoying ants have a nest inside my ceiling lights and i walk in the room its literally blackout light i turn on to burn them out and week later they come back to setup again. they use my ceiling lights as their disposal sight of their dead workers. I have 4 large oak tree in my yard each have different looking ants and i cant seem to tell where their coming from and their trail comes out of top of my kitchen cabinets then another trail under the base trim board in the bathroom then my water valve by the washer and drying. Its become frustrating to deal with them for almost about 6 months now.
This sounds like they have made a nest somewhere inside the home. We recommend reaching out to a local professional.
