so true! It is almost an addiction. And the sad thing for me is that there is nothing left to declutter in my apartment... but that also very nice because now I just have what I really care about :)
Jade you're not the only one! We all have that moving bug that we bought cause it was the cheapest thing in the gift shop at some random museum. Just cause we wanted to buy something 😂😂
yeah I also wanted to comment that I remember having the same box with the bug as a child but I have no idea where it came from... maybe it was a gift.
@@nolinealili Yeah I remember having those bugs too. I think it was one of those things from field trips I went on with my classmates. Anytime we went to a place with a gift shop, everyone else had a ton of money so they could buy stuff. I never had that much money so I could only buy cheap little things because I wanted to not be left out.
You could get a scrapbook and put some of your favourite memories into it so you have some things but all in one place and not absolutely everything. Eg. you could stick one of the scoobies into the scrapbook and write next to it something about your business (what you did, how much you sold them for, how old you were etc.). You could also stick in some of the pictures you drew and some of your diary entries... That way, when you're old, you have these memories to look back on and show your children and grandchildren but there's not loads of it and it's just little bits and bobs that can remind you of those times. You can also add in old tickets, photos, holiday postcards etc. You could also stick little envelopes on some pages to put items in and just keep adding to it as you go along x
Jade, you need to watch this show called ANNE WITH AN E it's sooo inspiring and it also covers these topics feminism, racism, education, gender bias, foster care, human rights , beauty standards, sexual harassment, representation,LGBTQ+ rights, health care, acceptance, grief, classism and indigenous history. Also your friend ruby loves it so maybe you should give it a try.
Oh my god, my diaries of my teens years are full of curses on studies, and my family members. Shameful drama stories about boys, girls and my friends. I also, noticed that the older i got, the more my diaries became about my mental health and my relationship with myself; people do not matter anymore.
Hey Jade! I've seen you from the video that you're telling us how did you manage to wake up at 5 am. I watched it and today i woke up at 6 am. I saw your morning routine , you were writing to your diary , planning your day. Yesterday i bought myself a diary and i started writing as well. I'm thinking of starting meditation /yoga. Shortly , i want to say that you are such an inspiration to me. Your every video has a message and i love it! When i'm watching you i can feel my life or personality improves , gets better. I really really love you and you are truly my role model. Thanks so much for showing me the path and helping through making my life more organized and defintely better ❤❤
I was dying when you started listening to BTS lmao! Yes welcome to our cult!!! Jk... a lot of us are not that cringe. But in all honesty BTS did help me a lot overcoming personal hurdles. I was a hoarder and would keep a lot of things too even when I didn’t need them. But I was able to clear my home and also my mind. Also they helped me tremendously with my Trichotillomania disorder so for that I’m forever thankful and grateful. Their positivity has rubbed off on me and that’s why now I’m able to focus more on productivity and wellness. They’re one of the reasons I decided to follow channels like yours 💕 Love you Jade 💗
For going through clothes, the best thing for me was hanging all of the hangers one way then when you wear something you can flip the hanger. At the end of every season you can look and see everything you haven’t worn really easily and declutter from there!
i think minimalism is one of those things that you can make your own. i’m really sentimental and i don’t think that’s a bad thing. i love looking back on things and i’m not about to be really strict on myself
I love how you are the first person on a decluttering and organizing video that had mentioned their sentimental attachment toward items. And, I love that you take the time to show us what the items are and explain when you used them. Great video.
I just moved out which made decluttering so much more easy. Because you're not necessarily throwing stuff away, but you're only taking selecting what stuff comes with you. I still plan on decluttering what I've left at my parents house though, but for now I know for sure what stuff give me good feeling and what stuff I use often.
I was literally living in a mess, my room was disaster. I saw your video and I started tyding up right away! You are amazing, thank you so much!! You are a human being full of light that you are sharing with the rest of the world! Thanks Jade!!!
Just thought I'd say, I had to watch your video with the auto-generated subtitles because I couldn't use sound and you talk SO CLEARLY that it worked 99% perfectly which you know, NEVER happens! So thank you on that front 😂😂
YOU ARE one the people who truly gave me a boost of positive energy to start my own educational channel and i'm so happy about this decision. THANK YOU❤❤
This is such a good thing to do in Quatantine. I started doing it last week too by clearing out my wardrobe but I haven’t done anything since. This video really inspired me to get back on track to minimising :))) love your videos as always Jade
Yeah, recognizable! It can be really hard to part with stuff. When de-cluttering I usually make 3 piles: things I'm certain about getting rid of, keepers and a pile of getting used to part with. Most of the time I part with 80 to 90% of the third pile after 2 weeks. My experience is that it's not always obvious in an instance what you are really attached to and what not. That's why I do it this way. Looking at the result you have reason to be proud of yourself. Good luck with minimalism!
I just spent 2 days decluttering my room, although definitely not to a minimalist standard! But honestly it feels so much better and I am way less stressed, would highly recommend! The charity shops won't know what to do with all this decluttering going on!
Jade a BIG tip that helped me was to take photos of sentimental stuff that was hard to part with. Then u can make a folder of those things or even make a photo album of them. You get to 'keep' them in a way.
Your videos are literally the highlight of my day during lockdown as I can't do much else on my gap year!! If anyone here is thinking of taking a gap year next year I've got a new video going live on my channel in an hour with some ideas of what you could do :)
Actually I love a lot one of your concepts whatever you contest on your own. And I think minimalism is one of the most specific fact that helpful to maintain a healthy life. So I love this exquisite concept anymore. You are a mischievous girl. I like you so much.
personally I do this to my room probably every few months. I'm not trying to be a minimalist because I love stuff too much but i think it's very therapeutic to know exactly what u own and refine the things you love
In april I was supposed to move to Japan, this has now not happened and my mum is moving into a new house where It is smaller and I will no longer have a bedroom, this means I need to start to minimalize my things too, This has been so helpful and has given me the motivation!:)
Jade, you are like one of those friends that always make me feel ok and push me to be better even when I've given up. Been subscribed for a long time now and just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you :)
Thanking RUclips for recommending me this channel because this is the first ever video i watched on your channel. It was a random Sunday afternoon and when i opened youtube, i saw this video. Totally loved the vibes 🥰
Was stressed and can’t sleep with a racing mind, so I came here to your channel to find some peace and positivity. Thank you for all your inspiring content ❤️
I never cared much for diaries, but I have a book where I wrote down philosphical thoughts and quotes in my youth and early adult years. It quickly went from "why are we here" to "there's no reason to be here" to "I want to end this". I've come a long way since then. I'm still not sure - whether I should keep this reminder of how fast darkness can pull you down, since this also shows, how much strength I possess to have fought and resisted it for so many years - or if I should throw away this book filled with so many negative thoughts. btw: First entry was the famous "Gnothi seauton". In my experience, this is something de-cluttering can really help you with. =)
In Germany there are a lot of places with public bookcases. It means you can take your old books and put them inside so another one can take one of those books to read as well. I don't spend money on books because I love to see which books are in the bookcase and let me inspire by these. Maybe there's something similar in your area. As a book lover it's the best way to read a lot of books without spending a lot of money. Also you don't need a lot of space. If you've read it you can take it back and get another one. It's brilliant😊📖
I am also very sentimental but I know that when it comes to journals, drawings and random journals, I definitely won't make an exception. I love going through my mum's old art journals and the things we created with my sister when we were little. I cannot part with this and I hope that my kids will one day have a way of connecting with me from the past
Jade please I really need a chemistry motivation video.. because am really struggling with chemistry😭. Anyways love all your videos always inspiring , lots of love💕
I am currently binge-watching your videos in between study sessions and it’s so funny when you said getting into KPop. Like I started learning Korean around the same time as you (summer 2020) and I literally have a playlist called “trying real hard to like kpop” (as I am like 100% rock) but I feel the need to know some because everyone who studies Korean is there because of it😂
Yes jade! I honestly got so excited when you played BTS lol. They have so many amazing and inspirational songs and I feel like if people actually read the lyrics they would understand just how amazing they are💜
girl I feel the saaaaame way I love minimalism and the concept is amazing but I have SO MUCH STUFF that I tell myself I don't need but when it comes time to declutter I cannot for the life of me get rid of it.
The ARMY part of me screamed at 9:36 And yes, I have to be that person: Once you JimIN, you can't JimOUT On a more serious and less cringy note however; They really did help me a lot through depression and anxiety and although I still struggle with it, BTS' music, lyrics and videos help me so much when I'm struggling mentally💜
Being minimalist really save a lot of money. Also combine with diy ideas. No need to buy new things. Just recreate things you like. I’m really inspired 🥰 let’s support each other ladies. 😍
YES!!! 💪 As someone who’s been advocating minimalism for years (and has made videos about it quite a lot ahah) I’m SO HAPPY that a big influencer my age like you is doing the same!!! 😌
ohmygod u were so articulate aged 15??!!! i'm turning 16 this year and my diary entries are so all over the place and i use like texting abbreviations and vine and kpop references in them??? like i write about my day and stress etc but not with such perfect words i-- ps: welcome to the fandom uwu not all of us are immature and toxic
I am also SO painfully sentimental and I found that taking a picture of things that are hard to get rid of (like tshirts from school, crafts, small souvenirs I don't use as decor) made it a lot easier to let things go. I would ask myself if the only value to me is sentimental, would a picture suffice to bring up those feelings again? Do I need the physical object to recall the memories? I also allowed myself to become a digital hoarder. I digitized old school notes, cards from birthdays, and other paper-based items and organized them on a special external hard drive. (also disclaimer, those are tips that were taught to me by our amazing family friend, who practices minimalism, so they're not my original ideas!) A personal habit I created was that if something makes me feel guilty (e.g. I bought this item and never used it, or this was a thoughtful gift from someone else that I don't use) I feel better letting it go when I offer it to friends or family first. If they take it, great! If no one wants it, it confirms that this item isn't bringing value to my life. Lastly, creating a goodreads account and saving all the books I've read onto a shelf (and even writing little reviews!) helped me to get rid of physical books that I was unlikely to read again. Congrats on your journey!
Woow, Jade you really left an amazing impression on myself in terms of being a minimalist as I saw lots of stuff you almost completely forgot about them. I suggest you should record more videos being minimalist because I think it really simplifies people's lives.
Okay i definitely love your channel. I am dutch and i saw your video about learning dutch and that is how i met your channel. Over the fiew months i am reading, watching, podcasting about minimalism and ofcourse you uploaded a video about it. Genius! Love it. (Forgive me for my bad grammar.)
I collect keys that I find and don't know that they open in a tin box and if I find a lock that has no key I rummage trhough the box. 😉 And that box takes not that much space. Also buy a book shelf that goes up to the ceiling so you don't have to store your books in your closet. A white Billy from Ikea or so. Maximize vertical space is a key to being organized and not cluttering that much. Try to go through your books as soon as you start to build up books on the shelf again.
Jade with turtlenecks is me with checked shirts - I have a pink one, red one, yellow, green, blue, black... I’ve sold and donated a few thankfully, I used to have 11 🤦♀️ now have 6 👍 P.S this may be on of my favourite videos of yours. At least I’m not the only one who spends hours getting distracted by cleaning every 5 minutes by reading old diaries and drawings - also motivated me to tidy my room (we’ll see how that goes)
I always try to have less but we need all the time removing new stuff! Your video made me yesterday to remove few things from home! Thank you this was a useful video !!
With the sentimental cupboard situation.. I did have the same problem. I just created a box only for things that mean something to me and they're not useful, but I just can't rid of them.. So DIY box for memories solved this one for me! I can recommend doing that.
This was so me decluttering, I am so happy I did it because it made my sheltering in place so happy. I also found so many diaries from 13 to 19 year old, I love how everything just brings all the emotions... this was so therapeutic
My biggest struggle in becoming a minimalist (though I'm way too sentimental to ever fully commit to that lifestyle 😅) is getting rid of good quality stuff that I know I won't ever use, but it's also really hard to sell or give away. It's stuff like wallets, all kinds of containers, moneyboxes, childish jewellery, cheap plastic toys... It's really hard to throw away something that you know could theoretically be useful, but in fact it's really difficult to find a new owner for the thing (I do try Facebook groups etc., but some things are just not worth the effort for other people).
I'm also getting into minimalism(mostly got inspired by Matt d'avella) and more now by you, I cleaned up my closed unded up having 2 large bags going for donation, I still have a lot clothes, but because I'm from lebanon and we have all 4 seasons so I have winter clothes, spring, fall, summer clothes BUT now I ended up manging to put all of these with my accessories in one closet! I still have a lot of stuff but I feel like everything I'm using and each time a season pass and there's something that only fits that seasons and I didn't wear it the entire season I'm going to throw it out!
as a ~practicing~ minimalist myself, there’s nothing more satisfying than a good declutter 🤤
so true! It is almost an addiction. And the sad thing for me is that there is nothing left to declutter in my apartment... but that also very nice because now I just have what I really care about :)
amen🤤
I'm loving your content so much at the moment Jade!! I can't wait for your next minimalism video 💫
Awh Ruby!! 🥰🥰 thank you so much! likewise x
Hey Ruby
Jade you're not the only one! We all have that moving bug that we bought cause it was the cheapest thing in the gift shop at some random museum. Just cause we wanted to buy something 😂😂
And THAT'S where they come from....
yeah I also wanted to comment that I remember having the same box with the bug as a child but I have no idea where it came from... maybe it was a gift.
@@nolinealili Yeah I remember having those bugs too. I think it was one of those things from field trips I went on with my classmates. I’ve been living minimalist ish for the past few years and it’s crazy how much money you save from not buying tat. £3 here £2 there soon adds up.
I write down al the things I buy + the price. It gives you a good overview!
yeees! It's the same for me too! I am saving a lot of money and I am just also so much more focused and happy
GIRL SAME. I stan minimalism but I am the opposite of it
Jade, you need to watch this show called ANNE WITH AN E it's sooo inspiring and it also covers these topics feminism, racism, education, gender bias, foster care, human rights , beauty standards, sexual harassment, representation,LGBTQ+ rights, health care, acceptance, grief, classism and indigenous history. This is exactly what I thought!
I loved that show :)

i need this type of energy

To everyone who sees this your amazing! During this time if you put your mind to it you can learn anything!
I needed this, thank you 💜
bepositive 1234 your welcome!
I was dying when you started listening to BTS lmao! Yes welcome to our cult!!! Jk... a lot of us are not that cringe. But in all honesty BTS did help me a lot overcoming personal hurdles. A video from Ruby AND Jade on the same day = very happy 😃
I have such a warm place for the Throne of Glass series in my heart. So sweet to see you love them to!
Omg i legit had so many of those wooden bug things. Pointless toys but oh the nostalgia.

ohmygod u were so articulate aged 15??!!! i'm turning 16 this year and my diary entries are so all over the place and i use like texting abbreviations and vine and kpop references in them??? like i write about my day and stress etc but not with such perfect words i--
ps: welcome to the fandom uwu not all of us are immature and toxic
Love this video because it's so realistic. I know that I'm the same when it comes to getting distracted while decluttering...
OMG pleaseeeee do a video of you reading your old diaries!!!
I’ve sold and donated a few thankfully, I used to have 11 🤦♀️ now have 6 👍
P.S this may be on of my favourite videos of yours. At least I’m not the only one who spends hours getting distracted by cleaning every 5 minutes by reading old diaries and drawings - also motivated me to tidy my room (we’ll see how that goes)
You should do a book haul, or your favourite book series video! Something related to books (if you'd like of course)!
You are such a motivational person i love it!!!! What amazing energy you have
I always try to have less but we need all the time removing new stuff!
I really need to declutter! Watching this video was inspiring.
love this!! your energy is everything 🥺 inspirational QUEEN💕
This bookshelf is amazing. Good job
this is the first video i’ve seen of you but i love your energy sm
Jade i LOVE YOU YOU MOTIVATE ME TO BE THE BETTER VERSION OF MY SELF
So many new videos?! Jade omg I love it!!💛😫😍
Reading old diaries is the best!!!! (also sometimes it's a bit embarrassing)
Yessss!!! I’ve done the same thing in my room during lockdown, it’s so therapeutic
same here! just there is not much left since I have been a minimalist for several years now :)
when I watched your video abt learning korean, I told myself I can't wait for my favourite youtuber to discover bts. this is the start of it!! 💜
This was so me decluttering, I am so happy I did it because it made my sheltering in place so happy. I also found so many diaries from 13 to 19 year old, I love how everything just brings all the emotions... this was so therapeutic
A good way to separate drawers into compartments for different items is to use old shoeboxes! I’ve tried it and it works really well 😊
One thing I did when I became more minimalist is stop buying physical books, because I had a lot, and use one Audio books or ebooks. Very good idea
This video made me get up and tidy up my room. I've been putting it off for like 3 days but I have finally done it. Thanks for the push Jade!💫
i think this was the motivation i needed!! been thinking of having a bit of a clear out for a while now, but this has given me that final push :)
I found this so relatable! I also love the idea of minimalism but am so sentimental and find it hard to let go. Thank you for this video ❤
