  • Since my "simple stringer repair" has turned into a full-on jet boat rebuild, I figured I might as well address the old water pickups that the previous owner placed into the hull of my Centurion. Removing these pickups and repairing these holes started early on in the build. I removed the pickups and filled the holes in from the top side once I had all the old wood out of the boat. I did this so my repairs would be under the new stringers and tabbing.
Today, I finally decided to go back and finish the repairs on the bottom side of the boat. But don't fret. In this video, I will cover how I repaired the holes in my hull from start to finish.

    About AutoTechNick:
Growing up in rural Oregon, I was always around Hot Rods & Race Cars. I imagine my early exposure to this culture ignited a spark of interest in cars, which remains my passion.
🎓 I am a proud Alumni of Wyoming Technical Institute, where I studied Automotive Technology, Performance Engine Building & Street Rod Fabrication. In addition to “WyoTech,” I graduated from the BMW Service Technician Education Program, more commonly known as BMW S.T.E.P.
🏎️ I spent nearly ten years working in various BMW dealerships as a Master Technician. After a move back home to the PNW, I found myself no longer servicing German-made machines but now working with Italians. I spent nearly another ten years as a Ferrari Master Technician & Shop Foreman at a local Ferrari dealership.
🏆 Ferrari selected me as one of 12 technicians worldwide to compete in the “Ferrari Testa Rossa Awards” for four years consecutively. Finishing in 3rd place in 2016, & in 2019 I was able to place in 1st, winning the competition & earning the title of the “Top Ferrari Technician in the World!”
🚀 As my time with Ferrari came to an end, a new career path awaited me…. Aerospace. I am currently working at Blue Origin, helping to build & develop the BE-3PM and BE-3U rocket engines.
With my new career path, I needed an outlet for my automotive passion, thus the reason for this channel…

After spending a month working on and sanding in the bilge, it was a welcomed change of pace to get these holes repaired in a few day's time.

Amazing how much labor you are putting into this boat. Can’t wait to see the final product on the water.

Thank you so much for you videos it's helped me alot as I live in the uk and there is absolutely no info or guides that iv found over here. I bought a old 1965 johnson deluxe 17 with omc stern drive. Then managed to source a berkeley 12jc and 454 big block. So all your videos have been super helpful. Iv been lost so many times with no one to ask. But I think I'm getting somewhere now 👍. Keep the videos coming 👍

Everytime I watch your videos I want to deconstruct my 90 advantage jet boat and rebuild from the ground up! And make it new again like yours! Great videos nick. Still looking out for when you set that intake

Well if that is the case I don’t know if my videos are helping or hurting you… 😂 😂 😂.
Don’t fret, a video dedicated to setting the intake will come. I just need to get the gelcoat done in the bilge. That is my last big hurdle on this project!

Great work...looks like somewhere along the line someone speed coated the bottom of that boat.

Good eye... The bottom of the boat is indeed covered in an old speed coat. I am undecided if I will reapply more once I am finished with all the repairs.

Thanks for your videos Nick! Very informative. I’m in the process of rebuilding a GN v-drive boat. I’m doing some of the same processes, so it’s good to see other’s thought process and technique. Keep up the good work 💪🔧

We called these " squirters" on the lake... Jet O Vator spraying water in the air, going TOO fast is areas, and always drunks driving them.... Only thing worse are Jet Ski's.....

Great job nick .!! Hey do u think the intake holes were from factory or someone added that later? I've never seen that before on a jet boat anyway.

    • @AutoTechNick
      @AutoTechNick  11 месяцев назад

Yeah, I have not seen them on any other jet boats. I am most certain that they are not original to the boat. They always annoyed me, as I don’t like items with no purpose. So I jumped at the chance to eliminate them.
