It's the getting started part that's really tough. I've been at it for days and so, so, so many of these missions have scavengers that can 2 shot you with plasma weapons. One mistake and it's 15 min wasted.
Beautiful work as always, CMDR! Personally, I always just hang out in my SRV outside of the settlement before luring them all out and mowing them down.
Lovely stuff. I'm working up the L-6 too at the moment, not helped by losing my spreadsheet in a backup disaster, thank goodness for the ED Materials Helper.
1st business on arrival. Use the camera and getting an overview of what's going on. Then decide to sneak or go in guns blazing. (mostly sneaking and zapping NPCs). I wish the game had binoculars, or zoom mod for the suit.
Love watching you work, and it's nice to see the AR-50 get the glory it deserves! My standard Dominator loadout is a TK Aphelion for taking down shields and an AR-50 for grinding meat, and I switch between them pretty continuously. Both have Faster Handling and Stowed Reloading. On that note, in videos like this can you list the mods you're using on the suit and weapons in the description? As always, o7!
Am I just missing something about the Scorpion? I found the Scarab dual repeaters to be far better for mowing down scavengers... the jitter for the first shots from the Scorpion's main gun drives me bonkers. Though I admit I might just be a little salty about the Scorp right now; I got surprised by some scavengers while powering up a settlement, who then blew up the Scorpion before I could get back to it... more durable my a$$! A wee bit flustered by this, I then lost the ensuing fire fight, - costing me a (right now) hard to come by power regulator. Sure would be easier to get mats to upgrade my stuff if I could get some mats to upgrade my stuff...
The scorpion has certain advantages though. For a start the aculeus missiles can take out a target up to 2km away. The jittery shots from the scorpion are rough, but once they settle, they have a longer range than the scarabs guns so you can deal with things from a distance. Best of all though, the scorpion can bully Goliaths and Revenants. You still have to be careful, but with manoeuvring and use of cover, the scorpion isthe best choice for taking these things on. It can also take on smaller ship. You rarely destroy them, but they can be forced to flee. We once knocked out a Challenger though with two scorpions. It took some doing, but it went down.
I like to use the free-camera mode to scout around settlements like this. Good for seeing what’s going on and where the baddies are lurking. Think of it as launching a personal, (or personnel) reconnaissance drone. 😎
You can power up terminals in an abandoned settlement without powering on the whole PWR with a regulator?! TIL. Awesome piece of info casually thrown in there CMDR, thank you!
I've been doing a lot of the Exo-Biology...But I have not really tried the fighting side of it. You make it look really cool! Anyway, thank you for all the great videos! o7@@TheBuurPit
I use the DBS with dumb fire missiles - smashes them easily. Then the Scorpion, then Dominator, then Maverick. If need be I also have heavier ground strike ships: the FGS + Corvette.
I just outfitted my Alliance Challenger for ground combat. All advanced missiles and frags, three of each, with a single gimbaled beam. It's like a long range blender if you're on the ground.
Right tool for the right job.... The Scorpion is better on bigger targets like ships and it's deadly against revenants. The scarab is far better with softer targets like drones and personnel.
I suggest you do another L6. ;) I am not fussy when it comes to clearing ground CZ's Double L6 needs to be experienced... Just watch those balustades. It is quite easy to kill yourself ;) I only did 3 engineering effects on mine. Just in case another effect that may be released later, is needed to deal with the Goids? My Pair, have Stowed reloading, Mag size & Faster handling. 5 enemies dead in two shots? No problemo... ;)
In Elite, the environment suits generate an audio effect to simulate the sounds that would occur. Its the lore reason for including the sound. Obviously, we all know that's slightly handwavey and that total silence would be more authentic. However how many folks would settle for a game like that where the only sounds you heard were your own CMDRs breathing and grunting!
@@CMDRyassuu Yes - lower atmospheres and pressurised indoor spaces would carry sound. I think it'd be cool to let players choose between what sounds they could hear. Perhaps by offering some option to disable suit audio effects. This would make the game harder as you wouldn't be able to hear anything that wasn't in your suit or coming over comms in no-atmosphere situations.
All sounds in space and on no-atmospere planets is "simulated" by equipment, its clear to sense when suit out of energy, or ur ship lost cockpit glass. So, for example, audio masking mode on weapon is "hack" of software, which generate signals for other suits, or somthing like that...
Gongratz on the Engineering.... ok i saw you shooted on a K.Oed npc... they can NOT die with player Caused damage. The Suits in Space have a Cooling frozing Liquid like the same as in the Ships behind the Seats.... People with have the Priviligue to wear a Suit or are in a Ship cannot NEVER Die on normal terms... the Only times People really dies are: Old Age Health Thargoid take them? Spacestation get attacked and civilians die because they DON'T have Suits. Player or NPC is Blowing up a RescuePod??? but i think then the Spacesuit liquid get active also maybee?? You get even a Hint... the Name turns back to Blue also "Neutral" I think Malic mentioned the Lore. :) Second hint: if you zap a NPC it shows the K.O. symbol but the status is frozen and you cannot "kill" the npc. SECOND hint: You get noch much Bounty on your head if you send a guard to "sleep" imagine you kill a Guard or someone really.... i think you will get millions of Credits on your head ^-^
There is no "unconscious/stun" in the game, Arf has explained before that due to the PEGI rating you cant kill a defenceless npc and thats why even scientists have a sidearm.
@@ElvisKremmenyes thats the Gameplay Explaination what you did. But with "there is no K.O. State" this is partically true, when you ZAP someone with the Energy Tool there is a K.O. Symbol in the Status of the NPC. :) I Explained it Lorewise and you Gameplaywise, so it's Okay. 👍✌️

Good job showing more Oddysey gameplay, definitely something the community need to finally embrace the expansion in its full glory :).

Yeah I'd love binocs tbh.
U can use some weapon with scope mod instead.
That is a major omission in the game. Even scopes do not have a big magnification.

Gotcha. Pinning a post now... will add to the videos going forward o7 ;)
I turned off the ambient sounds etc. I coudn't handle the anxiety of an enemy ship dropping in without my notice.
I love the way the AR-50 sounds in this game !!!! SOooo ballzy

I’ve found the same. The scarab is better for taking out personnel at a base in my experience.
The scorpion has certain advantages though. For a start the aculeus missiles can take out a target up to 2km away.

I just used a Scorpion for the first time the other day, love the way it drives over the Scarab, for sure.

I too did not realise this, thanks!
Also works on doors :)
@@TheBuurPit oh stop it 😀
Small advise - if u select closed box in terminal, where was hint with code of his lock, so u don't need e-breach for open it )
If only I had more than 20fps in Odyssey content while the rest of the game is somehow in 100fps on high settings.
You make Odyssey look so good!

Nice video, what mods do you have on the AR-50 ?
You need to review the new VKB STECS throttle!
Looks so damn good doesn't it... Omg
im sure u have answered this before, but what graphics settings are u using? im struggling to get it set up
I like the scorpion myself, but the gun does not work for me - I tend to use a lot more ammo to kill enemies than with the scarab.
I use Scarab too after one settlement clean up mission with Scorpion. That thing has only two better things than Scarab- shields and armor. Thats all

Would be cool if I wouldn't need to buy a new PC so I don't lag on ground.
What are your specs? The oddysey content is now much better optimized than at launch, I have a mediocre 2060 rtx and it works like charm.
