If any name other than Rami Malek had been called I would have thrown my remote through my tv screen. Bohemian Rhapsody was simply phenomenal. From casting to producing, screenplay, graphics, sound- it was just incredible. I noticed during the Live Aid performance at the end that the older woman next to me was softly crying and I asked if she was okay. Turns out, she was actually at Live Aid and saw Queen perform. She didn’t expect Rami Malek’s performance to be so incredible that she remembered what it felt like to watch Freddie Mercury perform that day. That’s how incredible his performance was. Had anyone else been cast instead of him, the entire movie would have bombed. It’s like he was born to play that role. There’s a video of Rami Malek performing as Freddie Mercury at Live Aid with the screen split to simultaneously see the real Freddie Mercury’s performance that day. You can barely tell them apart. It’s almost like the ghost of Freddie Mercury possessed Rami Malek.

Rami Malek, did an exceptional and awesome job, portraying Freddie!! He had said that he couldn't have done this without Freddie's help. Bohemian Rhapsody was absolutely perfect. And Rami certainly deserved the Oscar!!!! This was the most touching tribute to Freddie, with Rami, and the other 3 that did an absolutely awesome job playing each of their own instruments. Queen got the most loved and beautiful tribute that any 4 guys could have performed!!! Thank you so very much to Oscar Channel for posting this. 💖Blessings from the USA 💓🇺🇸 October 20, 2022
Best moment in the entire film. It lasted only 40 seconds but was incredibly powerful. Almost made me choke up. The entire ending was just outright phenomenal. Rami deserved every single bit of that oscar. I remember watching Until Dawn playthroughs when I was younger and seeing his acting for the first time, and I never imagined he would get this far.
Rami Malek is such a gentleman. It’s very satisfying to see a man so humble and talented receive Best Actor Oscar. Watched it on Oscar night 2 years ago, but it makes my heart smile to be able to watch this now in Oct 2021. Congratulations Rami Malek !!!
I think it's incredibly sweet that he's actually dating the woman who played Mary Austin and that he acknowledged this very openly at the end of his speech.
The fact that he thought of his momma first before anything else, shows the kind of noble, kind and precious heart this gentleman carries. He won in life with that alone. Family is precious. ❤️
@@alonespirit_1Q84 It's actually "is" ( Is this the real life ) Sorry for being too serious and not getting a joke lol, but I am a huge Queen fan so... 😁
I got the exact same thoughts. Same with johnny depp. Every movie he is in i see jack sparrow. Rowan atkinson will always stay bean. But i see rami malek now and i see freddie😅😂
Excellent casting choice . Growing up following Queen I was reluctant to watch the movie , I had the impression no one would be able to do it justice in a way that would capture the emotion , struggle with personal identity drive and vigour I have read about in many books about Freddie . An emotional rollercoaster of a movie , the highs , the lows , grappling with self awareness , the fear of not being accepted . This movie hit the right notes in every level. I had the pleasure of meeting Freddies mum before she sadly passed , living not far from me , in a local supermarket . Looking so frail sitting while her daughter was shopping , I approached her and just said " many of us still miss him too ".she looked at me , smiled , saying thank you . Priceless !!
I started crying when he said “thank you Queen. And thank you for being even a small part of your legacy.” (Probably not the exact quote) but that got me. Also I legit thought that he was gonna propose to Lucy when he said her name like that.
This guy's a gem, from playing smaller role in movies like twilight, battleship ( most even didn't notice him in battleship), night at the museum and finally levelling up on getting Oscar...well done Mr. Robot 😉😉😉😉
Oh yes I remember he was in Twilight & everything's now flashing before me I did not even notice him before & now he's.. he's just so excellent with the role. 🥺❤️
I wrote my undergrad dissertation a year ago and it was inspired by this speech. I titled it 'The Power of the Immigrant'. I had just lost my Dad 6 months before, I was broken and could only think to honour him in my thesis for the intellectual he was. I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody with him the year before and he cried from start to finish because it was the 'soundtrack to his life', where Queen's music helped him through the loss of his own father. As Rami Malek says, 'the fact that I'm celebrating him and this story tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this.' My father was a first generation British Asian immigrant and stories like his need to be told. It still hurts that I was never able to share my dissertation with my Dad. But I believe the fact I was able to write it and graduate is a testament to the strength my father instilled in me - a testament to the power of the immigrant.
Funny, he told a story about his brother needing to give a presentation in front a class. His brother was a student. It was a subject that Rami knew better than him, so Rami went in his place and did the presentation
I saw "Bohemian Rhapsody" the week after seeing "A Star Is Born." "A Star Is Born" was great, but "Bohemian Rhapsody" was fantastic. So much so I forgot to breathe while I was watching.
Regardless of who you think should have won or what movie was your favorite, I think it's important that we all appreciate how monumental it is for a first generation Arab American to win an Oscar for his portrayl of a bisexual Indian immigrant who meant so much to so many people. I don't care what anyone says, Rami is the rightful winner to me and the perfect person to carry on Freddie's legacy. A true champion.
Maybe you shouldn't look at everyone as a set of labels. Naturally bisexuals and immigrants would be minorities and thus there will be fewer of them in everything. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and I am a huge of Freddie Mercury and Queen's music. Also liked the acting, but didn't like the editing, it really shouldn't have got an award for that.
@@nathanturvill4449 I feel like it is too but it wasn't viable for a Oscar award BC it's not a movie. (or whatever the award he got was called). Never saw the Freddy mercury movie.
Well he wasn't that great as Freddie. If I have to be honest I think he is the most undeserving actor who have ever won the Oscar. Im not the biggest fan od Queen but I saw many of their concerts. Malek didn't look like Freddie, didn't mov like Freddie and had very different physicality than Freddie. It just shows that it makes no odds if you play well. It only matters if you play someone who is a legend. Ps. Mortensen should won then.
I don’t care what negativity people have about the film, it deserved all 4 oscars it won. I’ll never forget 13 year old me who had just discovered Queen from this movie, watching this on tv. Here I am 3 years later and Queen is still my favorite band
Queen have become a favourite of my six-year-old nephew. He was born the year "Bohemian Rhapsody" was released (2018), and loved "Fat Bottom Girls" from the moment he first heard it, along with "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", which his mother sang to him because she couldn't think of any nursery rhymes. She was surprised that she remembered all the words. My nephew is six now and the Queen song he loves singing at the moment is "We Will Rock You." I've learned to never turn Queen's music down, because my nephew will say: "No! Turn it up!"
The scene, where Freddie Mercury told Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon that, he had AIDS made me cry, for Freddie Mercury, especially, when they hugged each other. That's family, for you. They stuck together, throughout all the years, and the heartache of losing Freddie Mercury, to such a deadly disease.
*I agree with this comment: "ACTING is an art that is expressed from WITHIN. What Rami Malek did is just a COSPLAY. It's amazing how people keep mistaking that and allow themselves being deceived by a MASSIVE campaign. Probably also mistaking the movie to Queen band. Standing ovation?! Come on, people!"*
I saw Rami the first time in a night at the museum and I was surprised by his uniqueness in acting. A particular boy. Then I saw him in Twilight and my heart warmed. I said to myself "oh god make him better known ..." and now there he is, raising the statuette of the Oscars

Freddie was most certainly there in spirit! 🥰
Liam Evans it was brilliant
Beautiful 🥰
All of his speech was beautifull, but that part, oh boy, that gives me chills and the way she looks at him....Pure love!
The fact that he thought of his momma first before anything else, shows the kind of noble, kind and precious heart this gentleman carries. He won in life with that alone. Family is precious. ❤️

Rami should have received another Oscar for that Acceptance Speech.

This was a fantastic and sober Oscar acceptance speech. This speech alone makes him worthy of the Oscar.
As for an Oscar speech, that was maybe one of the most honest and touching.
This guy's a gem, from playing smaller role in movies like twilight, battleship ( most even didn't notice him in battleship), night at the museum and finally levelling up on getting Oscar...well done Mr. Robot 😉😉😉😉
Need for Speed movie too
I loved battleship when I was younger, never even saw him!
Now Rami Malek "mary" Lucy Boynton already!!!
Oh yes I remember he was in Twilight & everything's now flashing before me I did not even notice him before & now he's.. he's just so excellent with the role. 🥺❤️
The Pacific
I wrote my undergrad dissertation a year ago and it was inspired by this speech. I titled it 'The Power of the Immigrant'.
I had just lost my Dad 6 months before, I was broken and could only think to honour him in my thesis for the intellectual he was. I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody with him the year before and he cried from start to finish because it was the 'soundtrack to his life', where Queen's music helped him through the loss of his own father. As Rami Malek says, 'the fact that I'm celebrating him and this story tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this.'
My father was a first generation British Asian immigrant and stories like his need to be told.
It still hurts that I was never able to share my dissertation with my Dad. But I believe the fact I was able to write it and graduate is a testament to the strength my father instilled in me - a testament to the power of the immigrant.
❤
For the two hours of this film Rami brought Freddie back to us. Outstanding performance.

Dude was meant to play that role. I saw the film. He earned his award.
Technically Freddie was from Zanzibar.
Hmmm persian i pressume?

His parents lived in India and their ancestors did too for a long time. He is most likely to have some Indian blood.

Not better then rami though, I swear to god nobody can play Freddie better then him, he lip syncd perfectly and added lots of emotion to the movie
Mr Gomes Rami was much better in Mr. Robot
@@sharonjensen3016 that’s amazing!

The scene, where Freddie Mercury told Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon that, he had AIDS made me cry, for Freddie Mercury, especially, when they hugged each other. That's family, for you.
