    Lennox has the highest failure rate on the market. Those C33 series coils probably have over a 75% failure rate. It's ridiculous. 😵

      That’s crazy. I know “new” Goodman (under Daikin ownership) isn’t Trane, but their quality control is much better than Lennox nowadays, seems to me from mine and others’ I know personal experience. Especially on coil manufacturing.

    Ted, love your videos. Im not a professional at all. Just a homeowner who enjoys learning about your trade after having the exact problem in this video with my Ducane system (bought the house with it, ugh). My local tech wasnt even going to look for the leak with the UV, was just going to schedule an in depth leak search on a different day. After watching your videos and learning a thing or two i asked him to just check the pan right quick. Saw what we wanted to see in about 2 minutes and the tech was like "well damn i shoulda suggested that!" Ended up with a warranty replacement coil. Its just BS that these companies only warranty the part and the labor and gas is out of pocket for their poor quality control. I ended up with 3 leaks in that coil. Anyways keep the videos coming! I watch and enjoy them all!

    I worked for a company in the 80,s . We sold Lennox had very few problems. The biggest problem we had when they used Bristol compressors . They were junk. Worked for a company later we sold York mostly heat pumps. They were extremely reliable then . Go cheaper in manufacturing now see the junk . Have a great day .

    We’ve been out of pocket for (so far based on invoices) 42lbs of 410 refrigerant……$$$

    that timeframe of lennox and leaking? the evap. coil is smoked on the back side, where it either is rubbed/corroded out against an galvanized shield/foil backed insulation or very cloe to there via u bends and split joints. but by golly they got that tubing thin as paper and thermal transfer rates as high as possible >_>

    17:34 there is "clear pvc" but it's properties are fairly different than standard white/gray pvc. that trap is likely is likely one step pvc cement/cleaner glued. bit they give it a very light whiff of a coating so it doesn't run/cloud/distort.

    Yes, best to go with an evaporator I'd think. Maybe not a Lennox one, but a decent aftermarket brand if it will work. Might also be a good idea to route those line sets differently so they do not run along the door but away from it for service needs and access ! Some installers just don't see the logic. Good service for the neighbor friend too...

    I imagine ive been doing this quite longer than me. im doing this 20 years.. These coil leaks are annoying because theres nothing you can do anymore usually. Less than 1 in 10 im able to weld now. Everything's all about replacement now. Its crazy cuz i bought and paid my house off doing warranty work wed never had to replace just repair. And the older systems didn't really leak like seemed like more most the time I was able to just weld the leak. And freon was so cheap if u had a condenser coil leak u just take the condenser motor out let the pressure blow it out welded it Gas and go. I don't really like the direction things have gone but all I can do is fall in line.

      Typically, a poor installation of HVAC equipment will give much future breakdowns. They need to run as they were designed to and the variables are big when considering the method for installation that some of the HVAC professionals seem to think is "good enough". Proper sizing, duct work, supply sizes, returns and their placement etc. Lots of times its not the brand, its the crew who set up the system.

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 Год назад

      make sure you don't factor in the environmental contaminates... you're indoor air and local air qualities. 😉 it has a major effect of durability of ALL hvac equipment.
      things you cook, cleaning, skin, hair products, air fresheners, water treatment systems(chemical injection), burning candles(scented especially), off gassing of junk products. the list goes on and on. anything that causes acidic, alkali, salt or chlorine laden air. will quickly chew up coils.

      Don’t worry. Lennox is one of the better and largest manufacturers of HVAC in North America. It has a bigger market share than Trane. They sell more so we see more. Not too long ago all Carrier evaporator coils were bad and leaked. Under any video showing a leak repair, you will read comments that oh this brands is bad and they all leak. The truth is installation plays a big role and I hope you got lucky on that front. I am a Trane and a Lennox dealer and I can tell you there is not a big difference between the two except when it comes to money😮
