A lot of techs bash Goodman. I haven’t had any more problems with them over other brands. If installed correctly and maintained regularly, they last a long time. Brands like Trane and Carrier are overpriced and obtaining replacement parts can be a nightmare for the service provider and customer.
Ted, this is a Compliment for you! I know you really don't need it, but here it is anyway. You are one of the best techs out there and your years of experience and knowledge put you way ahead of any arm chair warriors. Any experienced tradesman can recognize your worth. Stay positive and keep TEACHING. 👍
I think you'll be glad to know that I don't have any idea how you do what you do, so I can't second guess you. I just find your explanations of your process educational. So thanks.
This is definitely one of those doing what you have to do. I’ve done it many times myself in my very short Hvac career of only about 5 years. Gas and go. She’s gonna croak eventually and when that happens it’ll be you putting another unit in its place. No harm no foul, no big deal. It’s working for now and everyone’s happy end of story lol. Enjoyed the video.
Hey Ted I’m a carpenter not an hvac contractor but the same rule applies I do my job and you do yours and if I want your opinion I’ll give it to you thanks for what you do And by the way common sense isn’t very common anymore
I approve of this HVAC service job. The one condenser looks like it was a salvaged item at some point since the coil fins were pushed over a lot yet the exterior case was undamaged. Whatever the reason, it still lives and sounds okay. I'm not so fond of the condensate drains dripping where they are at all, sloppy work/design. Seems like the attic work was done rather well. You never know though until you get the friggn attic cleaned out and inspect things. Looks like they have been waiting for the flooring company to show up a long while. One the next change out job(s), let us know what models they are and what they do such as single stage, 2 stage or variable, communicating proprietary everything etc. Would be good conversation to know what folks decided to go with or why they went with low or high end. Also, re-using supply and return registers vs. replace with the efficient ones might be a conversation to test.
Leak is likely in the evaporator. I do this stuff all day as well and sometimes question why i watch others do what I do, then I remember i don't know it all and experience is the best teacher
That's cool I don't care what they said Ted you're right and that race car looks like think on my old boss used to build I have not seen him for a while I think still build them
These are the calls you walk away and tell them to call you back when it is clear to the units. I will never understand how people can be so damn inconsiderate. They know that there is a problem yet make no effort to make access to the equipment. You have a lot more patience than I do Theodore.👍👍🇨🇦
INt there an argument surrounding spilling gas into the atmosphere you mentioned topping it off year on year shouldn't you really have repaired or replaced regardless what the customer wants ,surely there throwing good money after bad ??
@@TedCookHVAC you talk about all the armchair warriors telling how they are better technicians than you and how you would like congratulate them but they should set higher goals... I was just playing into that. Cheers Ted!
Yea... it is all part of the plan lol. Leading trolls by the nose into clicking/commenting on my videos (getting me paid) in order to "argue" their point is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Well Ted, here's the deal, I'm the best there is, plain and simple, I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence and nobody can hang with my stuff, I'm just a big hairy American HVAC fixing machine! 😂😂😂 But on a serious note, why are you putting dye in the system? We all know you're not gonna fix it, you're gonna sell'em a new system.
probably had it ran to the ground, with elbows and pipe out away from the foundation/slab. either they got broke off on accident or someone ripped them to get better cleaning access.
Id let the nay says do as they please and never say a word some talk just 2 get a rise out of u looks 2 b working do r let them live rent free in ur brain
Next time you bring him a car to work on make sure to fill the entire inside with stuff oh and of course I am a better tech than you. You know I had to say that
Sounds like someone has a bad case of Butthurt. Dont let these people bother you . Just do what you do. I like the technical aspect of your videos not the whining. Dont feed into what they want you to do Ted.
I think you need to stop being so sensitive. When you put yourself out in the public forum you are open for criticism, that’s the way it is. And I’m a better tech then you are. 😂
I,ve been a hvac tech for 40 + years and I never thought bout a dye tank. That's a great idea.

I for one love the idea of having a dedicated dye tank. I use my sniffer mostly but that idea is genius!

I got a big urge to declutter and simplify after watching this!
I was really hoping that drop of water at 14:12 would clean off the camera lens!
Another great video 👍
You do wonderful work Ted. Let them say what they want to say, the rest of us know you are the best.
You and Steve Lav make me laugh about all the cowboy techs.😂 You guys Rock. I would hire both of you in a minute.👍

I always learn from you thank for all you .Have aBlessed Day
Mr Ted seems that your fans are ganging up on you lol. I love your vids and you've already taught me a lot. And I'm not a better tech than you, yet! 😂

Ted gives the old English uncomplimentary directive to "get stuffed" a whole new positive meaning. 😎

Mr Ted Cook
You're Aces in My Book
Gotta love you’re honestly Love the vids keep them coming
Thx sir. You're a better tech than I'll ever be, lol. 😂
Thanks for your videos
From northern California
Merry Christmas 😂
Down here in Tampa all AC companies, thank they know it all but you’re doing a good job. Enjoy your videos.
Mikey Pipes would be mad seeing that Tankless Water heater in the attic
Who cares what Mikey Pipes think, that guy's ass bite.
Armchairs warrior 😂🤣 love ya Ted keep going the good work man
Mr. Ted please keep do it what you been doing you make the different when you show the real world of HVAC.
You are a great tech
It's a Leka Momma.
You did your friend a solid!
Good video!
a clear path to add solution to those traps yearly sure would be nice.
Your great tech for im concern
You haven't been posting videos lately. Good to see you back
Leak is likely in the evaporator. I do this stuff all day as well and sometimes question why i watch others do what I do, then I remember i don't know it all and experience is the best teacher
Good job Ted!!!!😂
I don't give a shit what others think. I'm a Ted fan. Enjoyed another fine video
Nice 👍🏼 😊
Just like when I was still a lineman and people put bushes and etc around a pole or underground transformer.
Thx for acknowledging our Tech superiority but I have noticed you are getting better Just kidding , your still our hero ...
Those Pipies are a Crusty One Mr Grench.
Nosey fella ain't ya? LOL
Your an excellent Tech Ted. I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you for all you do.
Old person grabber I love it
Gt video keep up the struggle 😁

I tell homeowners everything better be out of the way so I can get to their unit before I even attempt to diagnose the problem
Nothing wrong with what you did. You where doing what your friend wants, to keep them going.
Question do you ever straighten the smashed fins on the coil outside? When is it necessary to do so? thanks
Ted, you missed your opportunity to enjoy snake steak. 😁
What kind of coil cleaner do you use, the crap I been using sucks, been trying different ones , nothing working great, never mind you just told me
I'll bet a kid with a stick got bored and mashed down those soft Fins on that outside unit!
Ted, you didn't use your transfer pump for the water?
How bad does your shop vac smell? Mine reeks from all the gunk
😂😂😂😂.....Let it RIP TED‼️
Bad is a understatement
What do u think about the leak stop products. Specifically the Calgon leak stop injector?
I would never use any such product.
INt there an argument surrounding spilling gas into the atmosphere you mentioned topping it off year on year shouldn't you really have repaired or replaced regardless what the customer wants ,surely there throwing good money after bad ??
I'm NOT a better tech!!! T U have a great day.
I think you're a great HVAC tech. But your friend... Leaving all of his stuff up there, blocking the road to those units.
Did you charge a clean up fee? That was a lot of crap to move
☝
👍👍👍let it rip tater chip
Interesting....should have used black light after that blowout of uv dye all over your gauges.
Can't believe people expect you to move their stuff to access equipment. Time is money
I just like to Pick on You because I watch Steve Lav Too.
It amazes me how many drain problems. Must be climate. Worst I’ve seen is freezing or a pump gum up after 5 or more years.
Haven't they ever heard about Romex Connectors?
Hey Ted 👍🏻
Being a better technician than Ted is kind of like going hunting at the zoo 😆
Why do you say that sir ? Could you elaborate please ?
@@TedCookHVAC you talk about all the armchair warriors telling how they are better technicians than you and how you would like congratulate them but they should set higher goals... I was just playing into that. Cheers Ted!

good point, goodman of that age, guaranteed the evap coil is smoked at the rear u-bends. lol
Good job Ted.... On being a HACK. ;)
So, please tell me in detail exactly what you would have done better?
@@TedCookHVAC Tis but a joke my friend (note the wink). Always enjoy your work.
😂😂😂
Why did they cut the drain lines off like they did
probably had it ran to the ground, with elbows and pipe out away from the foundation/slab. either they got broke off on accident or someone ripped them to get better cleaning access.
If you know it’s leaking, why not just find and fix the leak? To my understanding the gas isn’t allowed to vent to the atmosphere?
Because then he wouldn't be able to extort people for replacement units
perfect place for a skateboard, at bottom of stairs. 🤣🤣
It’s like it had diarrhea
Id let the nay says do as they please and never say a word some talk just 2 get a rise out of u looks 2 b working do r let them live rent free in ur brain
I’m no tech at all. So not being a armchair warrior 🤣 but honest question. Is it not illegal to let that refrigerant escape to atmosphere?
Nope.
Them Snakes Like You..
was that a black rat or black racer
Next time you bring him a car to work on make sure to fill the entire inside with stuff oh and of course I am a better tech than you. You know I had to say that
Did you flip 🖕the furnace off anyway? It is a Goodman! Goodman techs are always better!
I didn't see or hear you turn the lights off in the shop.
Sounds like someone has a bad case of Butthurt. Dont let these people bother you . Just do what you do. I like the technical aspect of your videos not the whining. Dont feed into what they want you to do Ted.
