      Hi,
      I want to set-up karaoke using RUclips as the source of my lyrics and music. I bought BEHRINGER XENYX X1204USB and J-Tech Digital Optical SPDIF Toslink / Coaxial Digital to Analog Audio Decoder Converter with PCM , 5.1 Dolby Digital & DTS. I also have an Onkyo receiver HT-R593 and a wireless microphone (GTD Audio G-380H VHF Wireless Microphone System with 4 Hand held mics). My problem now is how to connect the mixer to the receiver. What cables /connectors I need to use. I don’t have any knowledge about audio/video technology. I only watch RUclips. Please help. Thank You--- Heraldo

      Steven Richards make sure the alt3-4 buttons are pressed in properly. Line in should be game pc only, mic in should be just mic via usb. The routing is usually controlled by the alt3-4 channels.

    Also, a great use for the AUX 1 PRE jack is to feed a subwoofer. You can dial in just as much as you need to the subwoofer, using the RED AUX knob, without it affecting your main mix/fader positions.

      I have to comment. I have a Behringer Xenyx 1832USB that I use for live music. Great mixer-BUT- 3 out of the 6 XLR inputs have developed heavy static. Behringer's customer service is a joke! So if it works it's great- BUT, if problems develop- good luck in getting it fixed.

    I have this mixer and this is by far the absolute BEST explanation of how it works. Thank you so much! Something weird I'm noticing, which is perhaps something I'm doing wrong, I have an AT2020 XLR on line 1. When I listen to it on my headphones, I can hear the ambient sound very loudly, which makes me think the recording is going to sound terrible, however, when I record on my PC using Audacity or any other software, I can basically hear my voice very clearly with almost no ambient noise. So basically my question is, why is the preview on the headphones so loud as opposed to the playback? The mixer is connected via USB. I also noticed that if I connect my headphones to the Control Room outputs, the sound is much more like how it plays back after recording.

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  4 года назад

      its just the raw signal is all, its the ambient noise of the voltage on the mic line. Take that with any sort of a gain filter or lets say reduction in windows input volume, or even differences in impedance and you get that background noise to go away.

    • @JoeyTeckno
      @JoeyTeckno 4 года назад

      Ernst Blofield thanks! I’m happy with how the recordings end up, it’s just annoying to not be able to monitor exactly what is being recorded. I’m just glad the noise is in the monitoring and not in the recording 😆

    Excellent info. Thanks! Got none of this in the manual. Would be great if you could go into the effects more in depth. Also, there are buttons that cancel out the effects and mains, why? Took some trial and error to sort it out. This is a USB Zoom concert mixer for me and so far it's sounds great although it can be tough to get the instrument mic at a good volume without using all gain. I am a solo acoustic guitarist. Thanks again - very helpful.

    Very helpful video, after searching on the internet for a mixer that would fit my needs I came to this video, however there are still a couple of questions if you don't mind.
    My set up consists of a pair of studio monitors, a microphone and headphones which I have all hooked up to my pc.
    My main concern is that it doesn't look like this mixer has an USB audio input to which I can hook up to an output on my monitors and headphones. So basically a USB connection that transfers audio
    Computer > Mixer > Headphone/Studio Monitors.

    Hey Everyone! i've just got all my cable setup and ready to start.I do not like using OBS Studio i do not find it stable for release but I will try. What I wanted to ask is that I would like to hear more of my game volume. I play counterstrike and I need to hear more bass from it but do not want to pass that to my stream PC. I've purchased all the cable and "noise" filters to match. everything in total including a new Microphone was just under $340 now did purchase the 1204USB Premium vs the standard I don't know why but I did. I will let you all know how it goes. I will do a video and follow up making sure to give credit to Mr. Blofield.
    With so many people here doing dual PC setups I wanted to ask a follow up question. One of the nice things in my current PC setup is I was able to take audio from my bot deepbot where I play music and direct that to the stream vs me having to hear it. So I could play CSGo and my viewers could hear me, the game and the music. All the while I was only hearing the game. Anyone have recommendations on that? I figured if ANYONE would it would be the 33 smart people that liked this youtube video.
    Thank you,
    ippaku

    Hi Ernst,
    Thanks for sharing your video. I was wondering if I send signal audio from PC via USB to the mixer, is this signal assigned to a channel to manage EQ, FX, balance and volume or is it only mixed into MAIN MIX by pushing down 2-TR/USB TO MAIN?

    I'm looking to invest into a mixer for my streams on twitch. I stream PS4 as well as PC games. I use an elgato HD 60 and Astro a40s mixamp as well as a dedicated streaming PC to stream whether it's console or PC gaming. Currently I get white noise and some feedback when I stream. I want to get this mixer but I'm not sure how to set it up. I'm a noob with all of this and really need a suggested layout dumbed down. Any suggestions?
    Also Is there a way I can set up my mixer with PS4 and PC audio captured? So it makes it easier to switch between them?
    Also What sound card do you recommend?

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  7 лет назад

      Your setup is a bit more complicated. I have a video on how to setup dual PCs using this same mixer as well. The difference between my video and your setup is I would probably use an HDMI switch to alter back and forth between the video source (PC hdmi and PS4 hdmi) before the cap card.
      In terms of audio that is where it gets a little trickier. You'll need to get the PS4 to send the audio out via the optical, into the mixamp, into the mixer itself, OR you can have the cable send it out via the controller to the mixer. You could also pickup a small USB audio card that will likely work with PS4 that allows it to come out the primary USB ports on the PS4. The mixer itself can do all the audio no problem, its really just how you want to connect it to the stream PC. You could also just send it direct via the HDMI which may be the easiest (but might have an issue in OBS when you switch back to PC - you'll have to disable the sound on the cap card for PC streaming).
      In terms of sound card I just recommend any audio that can produce at least 24 bit 192kbps audio quality, anything lower than that can have some noticeable quality loss.

    Quick question: What does Line IN 7/8 really do? Split the Left and Right into separate sources? Because when I use my 1/4 Inch RCA to 3.5mm, I only get the right sound to work fine. How do I get the left side of my monitor speakers to pick up sound??? I'm not here for streaming I'm here for audio playback.
    The Behringer mixer I have is a QZ1204USB, and the manuals still doesn't explain to me what LINE IN 7/8 does. I can get LINE IN 5/6 to work fine, but LINE IN 7/8 I don't know how that's done.

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  4 года назад

      7/8 has two mono lines into one fader basically, offering it as a "stereo" input. Chances are you potentially have a wrong adapter. The inputs are mono, remember that.

    • @ExtremeReviewer101

    hi thanks for the video! Quick question.. how do you set it up to send input from your computer say RUclips..coming in via usb and get it out through the alt 3/4? can this be done without connecting your computer to your input channels ? just using the USB cable? Alternatively, say you have your phone hooked up to the Tape in can you send/route that input out of the mixer somehow? to the 3/4 or control room? thanks!

    • @SDGolfGuy

    Is there any reason why I wouldn't hear any effects through the headphones while I am monitoring?

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  4 года назад

      Depends on your FX loop and whether they're captured in your listening device. If you're sending via main and listening to alt, you won't hear.

  • @olegorekhov1465
    @olegorekhov1465 3 года назад

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  3 года назад

      It depends where in the input chain the FX are. If you run guitars/mic effects before the mixer input, it'll include the effects. If you send the mixer raw to an effects chain it'll just be raw signal.

    So question, on 7/8 why do you have those? I play Siege on PC and I can't talk in game but on discord ppl can hear me. Also, how can I make sure that my voice, game, and other sounds are not so loud in my headset? I'd appreciate the input. Thank you!

      Umm 7/8 is my stream PC input? Sounds like your default input for Siege needs to be changed or its somehow different. Turn the volume down in your headset?

    Thanks for this! So you send your mic and instrument to your PC via USB, then your PCs to Alt3-4 and mix them back into your streaming PC via that PC's mic in jack I assume? And then combine mic (USB main mix) and PCs (3.5mm alt mix) into one track via OBS? I've got one of these and have ended up doing the same, although I feel kinda dumb still ultimately mixing in OBS because I mean... it's a mixer lol. But hey, at least I'm not alone.
    Three questions:
    (1) Do you know of any way to get FX from the internal processor on aux send 2? No matter what I do if I use aux sends I can't get FX on the mic. Although using a just-mics mix solves that problem for me basically.
    When I switch my mic from the USB main mix to 3.5mm alt mix, when I record my voice into audacity to test, they sound mostly the same but the waveforms look very different, even though I keep myself the same distance from mic and touch no settings. Any idea why?
    (3) There's no way then to isolate just game audio, e.g. if I wanted to record alongside stream and re-dub with new audio later, yeah?

      So a couple comments, then I'll attempt to answer your questions. I use this setup to send ONLY my mic to the stream PC (I run dual PCs). The Aux send 1, sends ONLY my mic, to my GAME PC. My ALT3-4 only ever goes to my headphones, no other route. The GAME PC sends directly to the STREAM PC through line out/in connection (3.5mm). This means I have 3 sources in OBS - USB mic, Line in game pc, and "desktop audio." - For the game PC I use the line in as my mic, and default audio (speakers) out as the output. Hope that clarifies the setup because there are no loops you're hinting at.
      1. The orange knobs send FX via Aux Send 2 to whatever 3.5mm or 6.3mm source.
      2. Main and Alt mixes have different interfaces (USB versus analog) you simply may have some loss or added gain between the two - keep in mind the alt3-4 faders are separate from the main faders (USB will offer a cleaner signal usually because below a certain level there is no gain since its digital)
      3. There are many ways to isolate game audio. If you're running dual PCs just do it how I did (game pc to stream pc direct line out/line in), if you're using a single pc you could run the game audio into the mixer, send it alt 3-4 into wherever you want it to go (back to line in?) depends on what you want to isolate in that ALT3-4 mix.

    What if i wamt to record everything to.my main mix, and only send for example line 1 and 2 to alt34 mix, is that possibke?
    Can i record everything through main into my.pc, amd sent out only a few of those channels?

    my question has to do with speakers I may not be placing them in the correct output. when I plug into the output there not very loud atleast not loud enough for a gig. do I need power speakers or am I totally not using this correctly

      Depends on the output you're using. I think for most applications powered speakers are ideal. That's what I've always used.

    Hi Eric, I've been following your guide on dual pc streaming, to which is an awesome guide by the way, and I've been having an issue. Sound going to the stream pc sounds like it's in an auditorium or cave.
    I purchased everything you had listed in your updated diagram including the Behringer x1204usb. Do you have any thoughts? I don't have any of the mics set to "listen to" and I did use the software video to make sure everything was set up, the only problem with that is there isn't a line in option for Mic/Auxiliary Audio Device 2 in OBS.
    Thanks in advance and sorry to bother you.

    • @baskinbobbins2718
      @baskinbobbins2718 6 лет назад +1

      OK, never mind on the line in issue. I had it plugged into the mic in on accident. So now if I just use mic/aux 2 in obs, the sound is fine. The desktop audio in OBS works fine as well. However, Mic/aux is the one with the auditorium sound, which is the microphone usb audio codec.

    • @baskinbobbins2718
      @baskinbobbins2718 6 лет назад +1

      The mic/aux is also picking up everything from the gaming pc as well. Alt 3/4 button is pressed.

      It sounds like the red knobs aren't turned down properly, or the orange knobs. If you're hearing a cave like sound it seems like there is some sent audio from aux send 2? did you perhaps plug in aux send 2 instead of aux send 1 to the wrong PC? If not, check the "RECORDING" devices on stream PC and make sure in the "LISTEN" tab the "LISTEN TO THIS DEVICE" is unchecked.

    • @baskinbobbins2718
      @baskinbobbins2718 6 лет назад +1

      It seems I didn't have the red/orange knobs turned down properly. I had them the way they were in the diagram and now I have them positioned as this video does which fixed the problem with gaming PC sound going to stream PC via microphone usb audio codec. So that's great! Now the only problem is the cave sound coming from the mic.
      I have the gaming PC connected to aux send 1 and there is nothing in aux send 2. "Listen to this device" is not checked on either PC. The microphone works fine when used on the gaming PC.

      Well you did it. I forgot about the red and orange knobs on the right of the mixer. I turned them down and everything works fantastically. Amazing guide and much appreciation for the quick and helpful response.

    Hey Ernst, I'm having a really tough time with my Behringer Xenyx 502 (non USB version) mixer. I've been trouble shooting for a week now, and was hoping you might know the solution to my problem. My setup is I have 2 PCs : One gaming PC and one Streaming/encoding PC for twitch.tv.
    I bought this mixer to connect my gaming PC audio to my other Streaming PC. This mixer will allow my streaming PC to hear everything playing on my gaming PC.
    My problem is that once connected to the mixer, all i hear is loud static. It doesn't even show to be a connected device in the devices and printers section on either PCs. The program that i'm using to run my streaming is called OBS. (studio version). In the audio settings on OBS i have my Line IN as one of my aux audio devices, so that should pick up my gaming PC audio, but all that it is picking up is what sounds like static. I DONT have a static remover connected to the mixer because i thought that it would only be necessary for low amounts of static in the audio. I don't know if NOT having a static remover will make my audio completely distorted, or if the static remover is designed to help treat already comprehensible audio signals.
    My connections are as follows:
    Gaming PC Line out to LINE IN on the mixer. (RCA to 1/4" connection)
    LINE OUT on mixer to my Streaming PC LINE IN. (RCA to 1/4" connection)
    These are the correct connections for a dual PC setup, but the audio never gets through. I turned down my levels on my mixer, disabled all sound effects on my LINE IN settings under audio devices manager, but all i'm getting is static sound.
    *Is a Ground loop/Ground eliminator necessary to get any audio in my situation?
    *Is my behinger 502 faulty? The Power light is orange, but no levels are being shown (Green or yellow light indicators)
    *Are my devices not selected properly?
    *Do I need a dedicated sound card for this setup? (currently using motherboard sound interface)
    *On Amazon (place of my purchase) I have read reviews on the power supply being faulty. Would this contribute to my distorted signal?
    I'm a complete audio novice and would appreciate a reply. Please, I really want this to work for my streaming setup on Twitch.tv.
    Thank you!

    You mention this is for streaming, would the mic in the mix board also be able to be used in game chat on say a console like a PS4 or would you have to have a seperate mic for that?

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  7 лет назад

      you could do it if you wanted to, but given the shear number of wires/splitters and routing, I'd probably at that point just have a separate headset for PS4.

    My inputs are audio from 2 microphones (line 1 and 2) and computer audio. I want to hear both in my headset but can't hear the computer audio. (Drivers were installed and it was working but then I must have pressed some buttons.) I've tried every combination now. What should I do? (This is so I can do a live video broadcast with two guests on mics at the board as well as guests who video conference into the computer/browser via restream.io).

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  3 года назад

      if your computer is outputting via USB then it can't be used as an input just make sure its on USB to main and it should come through main with the mics.

    Great Video :) We are setting up a Dual PC twitch / obs setup and bought this mixer and was surprised how little instruction it came with or offered online. Your other video was great as well but left me with one question. In this video you are using the USB out for the Mic input on the Gaming PC an the first video you were using aux send 2 or the fx channel for the mic out. Is there a benefit to using the USB out over the Aux send 2 ?? Thanks again for posting. This will solve the riddle we were having of no mic audio and hearing himself talk in the headphones.

    • @SDGolfGuy

      In this video I do aux send 1 as mic, USB to stream PC. Aux send 2 was an FX out, so it had an echo and I hated it.

      @@SDGolfGuy Thanks we got it working but have the game pc audio out split on a y-adapter to the stream PC and input 5/6 like some other setups. To me this wouldn't be optimal as you are bypassing the mixer for that part. I did have one more question if you have time. In reading the manual it says the USB out is the same as the main mix out on the back if you used XLR outputs. So in theory couldn't you have input 1 be the mic on XLR , Input 5/6 be the game pc stereo input and 6/7 the stream pc stereo input. Then have it all go back to the stream PC via the USB out as main mix. This would eliminate the aux 1 send from being needed. Thanks again its been a crash course in mixers for the past 2 weeks. Also any thoughts on the Makie 8fx mixer over the x1024USB ??

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  5 лет назад

      @@matthenkel5614 Yes, you can have this. This is how you'd set it up if you wanted to control the stream volumes via the mixer as well. The trade off is that you don't get to hear game/stream PC at different volumes than what the stream hears it at, from a main mix perspective, which is why I use the splitter. At the same time you'll probably have to use the solo button as your sources if you wanted to not hear your voice in your headphones when setting itup that way.

    I have the same setup and followed your updated diagram to the key. Also, set it up in the same way in both systems. My mic was beautiful for about 4 hours and then suddenly my mic is literally broadcasting every little thing it picks up. I was told to check it by friends so I listened into the main mix with my headphones (Sennheisser Game Zeros w/ 1/4 adapter) and I can hear everythingggggg Bird chirping, dog walking downstairs, etc.. Before that it was silent until I spoke. Any advice here?

    • @SDGolfGuy
      @SDGolfGuy  7 лет назад

      It sounds to me like somehow the gain or volume in on the microphone was adjusted, or perhaps the fader itself was accidentally pushed up. What I would recommend is using the "solo" button to monitor the mic in line and adjust the black gain knob on the line you have your mic in until your "Check" sound is just barely at the top of the Green LED that is labeled "0"
