    These are great tips in these trying times.. I long for a world where ordinary people don't have to worry about saving just to buy enough food to eat, we have more than enough food and resources in the world to feed the world 3 times over, why are we grasping for crumbs while the richest people in the world who control our lives feast. Resist, Rise up and fight back Workers of the world! Demand more!

    This was amazing! Well done for turning £20 of food into 80 meals! Just shows what can be done with a bit of creativity! I would say you ate very well. No processed food, and no waste!
    Well done. Thanks for sharing.

    Agree with the stock cubes over the pots plus Tinned Plum tomatoes are a but cheaper than chopped tomatoes so I always just chop them in the tin. I would have swapped the fresh cauliflower for a frozen bag of Broccoli and cauliflower and just taken out the cauliflower for the curry then used the Broccoli in one of the Spaghetti dishes.
    Great video and nice to see plenty of veg

      Are you in the uk?
      I’ve found that plum and chopped tomatoes in my Aldi are the same price, so that’s really interesting.
      That’s a great alternative, however my husband HATES frozen broccoli 😂. We all love normal broccoli, but he won’t eat frozen 😂.

    This was great, I think the meals were very wholesome and healthy and well done on getting in as much veg as you did.
    If you're wanting to save on stock to use the extra funds for something else, like a block of tofu etc, you can make your own vegetable stock from your veggie scraps, peels etc. Just dump all the odds and ends and peels into a pot with a good amount of water and then let it simmer for a couple of hours and drain into spare empty jars to use for your soups, stews, lentil bolognese etc, essentially a free additional item to use throughout the week. :)
    Obviously wash all your produce first before you start and then just save your scraps in a ziplock bag in the freezer until it's full, then boil into a stock or cook in the pressure cooker if you have one. 🍵🍲

      @ameliasfrugallife  2 года назад

      Thank you!
      I’ve actually tried to make my own stock many times before and I never really like it, I always feel like it turns out so bitter. I must be doing something wrong. 😂

      Oh ok, that's odd!? I wonder why that happens?
      I haven't seen too many people make it on RUclips but it always looks like it works out well for them. Perhaps put a tiny sprinkle of sugar in the pot to help counteract the bitterness?? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

      @@ameliasfrugallife If you do perhaps film it so we can see how it turns out!? I hadn't ever heard of anyone saying it was bitter before when they'd done this, so I'd be curious to see how yours turns out before I jump in and give it a go, as I wouldn't want to bother either if it turned out bitter, that wouldn't be nice! :(
      Still this was great and I really liked the meals you created. I can never get over how much more you can get for your money in the UK, things cost so much more in Australia and we could never get even close to this much for $23, this all together would probably cost at least $40/$45 easily, and even then I'm not sure I could get all the things you got!!
      Your Aldi's always have a lot more to choose from too compared to the ones in Australia, but we also can't get dried beans sadly, only canned. :( They have dried split peas etc but that's the closest, oh apart from red split lentils.

    • @ameliasfrugallife
      @ameliasfrugallife  2 года назад +1

      @@alwayslearning9272 that’s a good idea! I’ll try to find time and give it a go.
      The $23 was bashed on US dollars rather than Australian so keep that in mind.
      It’s super interesting to see what people can and can’t get for different prices in different countries! I am always amazed at the price of tropical fruit (I guess now to tropical for you 😂) and fresh fish in Australia and the price of dried beans in USA always shocks me! Root veg in the UK though is always amazingly priced and bread.
      I think the key is to work out what’s cheap for your country and plan meals etc around that.
      Thanks so much for watching and having a chat! Always love it!

I am very impressed with your cooking skills, and all the appetizing meals you served on such a tight budget! The veggie pot pie made hearts come out of my eyes! I was wondering if you might share why you eat vegan? Is it for health, or personal reasons? I only ask because I'm an older lady [61] struggling with diabetes and have always wondered if eating vegan would help. for diabetes, have a look at Dr Jason Fung's books (for instance the diabetes code), his youtube channel could also help you. Also I'd suggest you look into intermittent fasting and keto diet (or at least low carb). Many ppl inversed their diabetes following those techniques combined (be careful to do it under doctor supervision and approval). Hopefully you'll get better soon.

How about having toast as well as porridge for breakfast? That would help use up the other loaf of bread.
