As a trained nail tech both in acrylic and gel, I did one ladies nails once. And she said her nail beds were hyper sensitive. I knew I had to remove the old products, and I kid you not, on her nails had to be more than 1/8th of an inch thick, it was like an archeologists dig site. Months and months of product that had never been taken down and just adding on top of the nail. He nails were so sensitive. I could not use my efile. And had to remove the product by hand, as she did not like to soak her nails, because she said the acetone hurt her nails. She said it felt as if her nail beds were being scorched. When I finally got down closer to her nail beds, and that thin layer. her nail beds were green with infection. Which is why she was so hyper sensitive to filing. I sent her to a doctor. As I could not in good conscience continue to put product upon her nails. But wow. taught me as a new tech, how important it is to be clean as a tech, and also how important it is to continually inspect your clients nail beds before adding more product on them. So, while it was a difficult day for me, taking almost eight hours to file her nails alone. Because of how sensitive they were, we could only manage about two to three minutes per nail, and at a slow hand speed as well. I hope that she did get better help from her doctor. As she needed some serious medications to get rid of the green and fuzzies on her nail beds. Aka, the rampant infection she had going on. I almost wanted to burn all my files and remove my own nails that day lol. I did trash the soft files, and did a full disinfecting of all my work station when she left.
I always apply my gelly tips with a coloured polygel/acrylic, that way when you’re filing off, it’s easier to tell the difference between the polygel and your natural nail.
The soaking part is really helpful. That’s the part where I got impatient and aggressively scrape off the product after that I refuse doing DIY nail extension anymore. When I watch your videos it made me wanna start again and correct my mistakes. Thank you Suzie🥰🥰
I'm so glad you mentioned that even experienced nail techs have trouble telling the difference between product and natural nail. I always have that trouble and boy have I given myself some rings of fire! From now on, I will do it this way. Thank you.
I quit getting my nails done when my technician used a fake nail to rip off all my nails that had lifted. It hurt so much and my nails were ruined! Now, I am learning to do my own!

You have absolutely saved my nails. I’ve been putting my gelly tips on with nail glue because I had no idea there were any other options, and then ripping them off every week because that’s how I was told to get them off. I found this video when I was trying to get my first attempt at acrylics off and just now tried using acrylic to stick on my gelly tips. It holds so much better!!! And now I know to soak it off instead of ripping it!

I literally just last week had a nail tech pry off polygel from my nails by slipping a tip under it. I didn’t have the heart to stop him because my sister was treating me to my first professional nails since our teen years, and I wanted it to be a good experience for her too. It wasn’t until I got home I realized he had also been using drill bits that clearly weren’t cleaned beforehand. And this was the top-rated salon in my area! 😱 Oh well, the set is done, they’re cute, and now because I’m binge watching Susie, I’m never going back there and will be trying to maintain them myself. At least I know how to remove them correctly! 😂

How it's done with for instance Barbicide (and the fact that it needs to be diluting.. yep, have seen it used not diluted many times now .. ) and how important it is to keep them clean.. Because I see bites out there that I suspect never have been cleaned ever and now in these times of the DIY.. it especially is So much more important.. I hope that you pick up this item of hygiene with your amount of reaching out to people and most importantly, you are truly so Darn good and really clear with explaining! 👌🤗

Shouldn't be getting cut on the regular by professionals. I get that it can happen, but shouldn't be something that happens often when you're paying for a professional service. Sounds like the person needs more practice tbh.

I love doing my own nails b it treated myself toy get them done ‘professionally’… lasted five days and the removal was awful, left me with friction burn around one of my nails and a break through my nail! Also scraped it off with a metal tool - all I could hear in my head was this video!! Bought the stuff to do it myself so can’t wait to learn through your videos!!!!!
This is THE video I've been needing. I've been doing my own nails for about 5 months now, and the removal has been a process. I actually did buy myself a drill, but I really hated using it, especially when doing my right hand. I've been doing the soak off method for months, but I think I've damaged my natural nail a little bit because of using an orange stick to help push some of the gel off. I'll definitely try the hand file method, I don't know why I actually never thought about doing it. This really came at the right moment since I have to take off my Valentine's day set 😁

So refreshing to see an option for not a total soak off. I use gelly tips and some hard gel on top for strength and soaking them off every 3 weeks is a LOT. I’m gonna just e-file it off for fills and polish changes and full maybe a slight soak off for full sets.

I've started to play with the hybrid gel two months ago, so I am an ultimate beginner here. :-D, I tried the soaking method, and it has never worked for me. Last time I almost watched the entire Crown season while trying to remove the hybrid gel. So I definitely need to learn to work with an e-file. I felt in love with your channel; you make this never-ending and rainy lockdown in the Netherlands more bearable for me. Me too... I find it best to take as much gel off with the e-file as possible, soak my fingers for five minutes and then take the rest off with the hand file...
New to doing my nails myself and got the Beatles kit and I didint know not to pull them off from cuticle...and now I'm regretting it, my nails are flimsy and broken and ugly...I'm going to wait a week or more for them to heal before trying another application. Thank you for this video!

I cannot seem to get mine to look like that. I have very tiny, short nail beds. And, my nails flare out and get wider as they grow. Suzie, I have some questions about e-filing in general. I figured this video would be a good place to start trying to ask you. Please make a video and teach me the proper way. Besides our choice of bits for different jobs, I also question myself on other things too. 1. The direction of my bit. What decides the direction I set my bit to turn too? 2. How much tension do I press down on the product with my drill? 3. How do I keep it from spinning around and taking a loop around my nail tip and injuring my client? 4. What speeds do I set my drill on? Different speed for different products, for different outcomes? I always had a customer come in 20 minutes before their appointment and soak. I would finish working on one customer while the other is soaking. I always hated the filing method. Just me.
I’ve been going to nail salons for the past 18 years. To remove my acrylics they have always shove a nail tip to loosen it then peal it off.😱 I remember seeing a couple ladies asking for only soak off and the nail techs would get so mad. I thought that soak off was only for a specific material being used and that’s why they weren’t doing that to me …
Great tips here Suzie! If I leave a thin layer of gel on my natural nail will I be able to use acrylic to apply a new set or vice versa? Also, what are your thought on using that remover that you paint on and it melts the product off? Mine is called Magic Remover. It's some kind of thick jelly acid in a nail polish bottle. It works but of course, you don't want it on your skin. I've been using that because the acetone dries my skin out too much and it is faster than hand filing.
This is really helpful, I just got the gelly tips and the dip powder to try and help myself and my mum as we are both nail biters. I've only had them on for a few days now but they still feel pretty secure and I've had a lot of 'professional' sets come of my nails within a week, particularly with tips over sculptures. I did put the dip powder over them though as I tend break thinner nails and I don't think the tips alone would have lasted very long. I do wish there was a few more sizes because my nails are quite small and the biggest doest seem particularly large either. It's good to see how to remove them without damage so that we can actually grow them out and not end up with broken nails, I just have to stop my mum from trying to use her favourite 'pick them off' removal method. I'm still practicing on myself with the e-file because I don't feel confident on others nails but I might use it to take down some of the thickness of the tip and powder when the time comes to remove them.
If there isnt any bubbles, can you keep our existing acrylic or polygel on your nails to help them strong, help them grow, or keep the new length of the nail? Also, how many applications does your nail files last for? (applications meaning both sets of hand/10 fingers per application.) I can barely find any nail files that last more then one finger let alone half an application and it sucks.

Most of your videos focus on removing gel from a non-natural nail. What would you recommend for gel polish on natural nail? I've personally been having a bit of trouble with the hand file and acetone soak, it never seems to fully penetrate and took a few hours to remove. Would an efile still be ok on that to reduce the time?

Yes you could cut down - if its just the gelly tip - even if it’s coded with acrylic or gel you can still cut it just be careful it doesn’t split vertically Causing any damage to the natural nail but yes you could certainly cut it

Suzie, I have a question(from a professional and since you've been doing nails for such a long time now), I wanna do two of my friends' nails but I don't wanna attend or go to a nail class, as a beginner do I have to attend a nail class to be able to do both mine and my friends' nails or can I learn by experience from a long time? Do I need a qualification from a nail class to be able to do at least my and my friends' nails?
Suzie, can you do a video on how to size press on nails for wide nail beds? I have wide nail beds, and my thumbs are about two sizes wider than the press ons in a size 0. I normally wind up having to blend the thumbs as much as I can, into my natural nail, and then making sure I have enough acrylic or hybrid gel over top to hide the seams. Is there a workaround for this? I'm fairly good at sculpting my sets, but, because I have a love of doing nails, I like to change my sets out once a week, so press-ons are an easier option for when I just want something quick.

I learned the hard way.First time I put on full tips (wasn’t gel tips) I just glued it on the natural nail bed with no protection underneath.3 weeks later I wanted it off so I sat for more than 5hrs for both hands just to get it off me it totally destroyed my nails.The acetone damaged my skin so bad that 3 day after it got hard and after that my skin started peeling off.now I put a thin layer of hybrid gel and preferably a darker colour so I know when to stop filing.And a little tip i learned for those of you that soak it off use a little coconut oil in the warm acetone it protects your skin

Question: why would you file the lenght when you can just cut it? I tried the process with the acetone and it was a really bad decision for my skin, it removed the product but my skin got really dry and ended up scratching the nail, soo I only use the firts method, and lately, thanks to these videos, I can finally use the E-File just as Suzie explains, thanks BTW!
Hi , I need your help , thank you for all you share with us,love all your demos and your voice is so relaxing, I have developed an allergy to un- cured gel polish, I love to have my nails done and have vast amount of products,I’m now making press ons, what is the best way of removing them please, also what are the best type of gloves to wear when painting
yeah, soaking the gel tip in acetone for 30+ minutes sucks. tried filing it down first but it takes and eternity squared to the power of eons (not forever) to remove whats left. moderately scraping it off the edges is the way i get the rest off. filing the last bit then more scraping. still new to gel so its a struggle to say the least. classic nail polish is so much easier to work with. i got 24 classic nail polish bottle and 3 gel colors. got too many classic ones right now that i need to use up but i still plan to use the gel ones eventually.
My job involves soaking aircraft parts in acetone to remove paint and various coatings. We use a cloth pad saturated in acetone to keep contact on the surface that we’re soaking to encourage the paint to release. It’s funny how similar it is to removing acrylics lol
When I was getting my nails done back in the day it would be so relaxing I could fall asleep. Now here lately they burn me those drills. I already have things nails so when they use that drill I cringe. It is like they get happy. I am going to have to start doing my own nails for special occasions.

I always wonder when I see some of the rings Suzie wears where she gets them as well. I have seen plenty of cheap rings similar to hers on a couple of sites, but I can't wear them because I was born with a severe allergy to anything that isn't at the least stainless steel, surgical steel or pure (not plated) gold, white or yellow gold.
When you soak the nails off, you can use that time to watch a video from Suzie, and see what what colour and new design you are going to do on your nails 😊

Suzie has already done some - look up "hybrid gel" in her videos... they helped me when I started using the gel with dual forms (poppits) and today I started to use paper/foil forms with hybrid gel (aka polygel in tubes)
I really like the natural look. I have tried to put a thin layer of selfleveling gel on to strengthen my nails. I am a nailtechnchian with not a lot of experience. I have practiced on myself, doing all shape and lengths to learn. However I can not have long nails myself because I paint with oilpaint. That is just one of then other sort of art I do. Why won't a gel like for exampl6 the Kiara Sky liquid builder gel in a bottle, stay on my nails as a fortification. I swear I prep like crazy. You could maybe almost call it over prepping if that is a thing. Please help. What type of gel is best just to put a strengthening protective layer on your natural nail. Thank you 😊

I love doing my own nails b it treated myself toy get them done ‘professionally’… lasted five days and the removal was awful, left me with friction burn around one of my nails and a break through my nail! Also scraped it off with a metal tool - all I could hear in my head was this video!! Bought the stuff to do it myself so can’t wait to learn through your videos!!!!!
This is THE video I've been needing. I've been doing my own nails for about 5 months now, and the removal has been a process. I actually did buy myself a drill, but I really hated using it, especially when doing my right hand. I've been doing the soak off method for months, but I think I've damaged my natural nail a little bit because of using an orange stick to help push some of the gel off. I'll definitely try the hand file method, I don't know why I actually never thought about doing it. This really came at the right moment since I have to take off my Valentine's day set 😁
Thing wrong with soaking, and You don’t have to push it off with anything you can just leave it it’ll eventually fall right off
@@NailCareerEducation thank you! I usually did the cotton ball method but this video made me realize that I should instead warm it up and try to leave my finger in the little bowl, so hopefully that’ll work much better!

So refreshing to see an option for not a total soak off. I use gelly tips and some hard gel on top for strength and soaking them off every 3 weeks is a LOT. I’m gonna just e-file it off for fills and polish changes and full maybe a slight soak off for full sets.

I've started to play with the hybrid gel two months ago, so I am an ultimate beginner here. :-D, I tried the soaking method, and it has never worked for me. Last time I almost watched the entire Crown season while trying to remove the hybrid gel. So I definitely need to learn to work with an e-file. I felt in love with your channel; you make this never-ending and rainy lockdown in the Netherlands more bearable for me. Me too... I find it best to take as much gel off with the e-file as possible, soak my fingers for five minutes and then take the rest off with the hand file...
Hybrid gel is a file off removal it will take forever to soak it doesn’t work
New to doing my nails myself and got the Beatles kit and I didint know not to pull them off from cuticle...and now I'm regretting it, my nails are flimsy and broken and ugly...I'm going to wait a week or more for them to heal before trying another application. Thank you for this video!

Thank you for this video. After I watched you put the tips on, I wondered how you were going to get them off. So, perfect timing. You’re natural nails are very pretty. I cannot seem to get mine to look like that. I have very tiny, short nail beds. And, my nails flare out and get wider as they grow. So, my tiny nails with little hands look silly when I try to do them. How do I file the sides without harming the nail? I am new to all of this and love that you want to educate everyone.

Suzie, I have some questions about e-filing in general. I figured this video would be a good place to start trying to ask you. Please make a video and teach me the proper way. Besides our choice of bits for different jobs, I also question myself on other things too.
1. The direction of my bit. What decides the direction I set my bit to turn too?
2. How much tension do I press down on the product with my drill?
3. How do I keep it from spinning around and taking a loop around my nail tip and injuring my client?
4. What speeds do I set my drill on? Different speed for different products, for different outcomes?
It’s obvious it’s a art in itself because the techs I’ve watched on YT like yourself have never made your client scream.....lol
So please make a instructional video on how to become comfortable and confident using our E-files

YOU CAN ALSO TYPE IN "REMOVING GEL NAILS USING ALUMINUM FOIL" IN THE RUclips SEARCH BAR. I USE THAT METHOD AND IT DOES WONDERS.
I always had a customer come in 20 minutes before their appointment and soak. I would finish working on one customer while the other is soaking. I always hated the filing method. Just me.

I’ve been going to nail salons for the past 18 years. To remove my acrylics they have always shove a nail tip to loosen it then peal it off.😱
I remember seeing a couple ladies asking for only soak off and the nail techs would get so mad.
I thought that soak off was only for a specific material being used and that’s why they weren’t doing that to me …
Great tips here Suzie! If I leave a thin layer of gel on my natural nail will I be able to use acrylic to apply a new set or vice versa? Also, what are your thought on using that remover that you paint on and it melts the product off? Mine is called Magic Remover. It's some kind of thick jelly acid in a nail polish bottle. It works but of course, you don't want it on your skin. I've been using that because the acetone dries my skin out too much and it is faster than hand filing.
This is really helpful, I just got the gelly tips and the dip powder to try and help myself and my mum as we are both nail biters. I've only had them on for a few days now but they still feel pretty secure and I've had a lot of 'professional' sets come of my nails within a week, particularly with tips over sculptures. I did put the dip powder over them though as I tend break thinner nails and I don't think the tips alone would have lasted very long.
I do wish there was a few more sizes because my nails are quite small and the biggest doest seem particularly large either.
It's good to see how to remove them without damage so that we can actually grow them out and not end up with broken nails, I just have to stop my mum from trying to use her favourite 'pick them off' removal method.
I'm still practicing on myself with the e-file because I don't feel confident on others nails but I might use it to take down some of the thickness of the tip and powder when the time comes to remove them.

If there isnt any bubbles, can you keep our existing acrylic or polygel on your nails to help them strong, help them grow, or keep the new length of the nail? Also, how many applications does your nail files last for? (applications meaning both sets of hand/10 fingers per application.) I can barely find any nail files that last more then one finger let alone half an application and it sucks.
you can trim the tips off, too. saves energy

Most of your videos focus on removing gel from a non-natural nail. What would you recommend for gel polish on natural nail? I've personally been having a bit of trouble with the hand file and acetone soak, it never seems to fully penetrate and took a few hours to remove. Would an efile still be ok on that to reduce the time?

Yes you could cut down - if its just the gelly tip - even if it’s coded with acrylic or gel you can still cut it just be careful it doesn’t split vertically Causing any damage to the natural nail but yes you could certainly cut it

Suzie, can you do a video on how to size press on nails for wide nail beds? I have wide nail beds, and my thumbs are about two sizes wider than the press ons in a size 0. I normally wind up having to blend the thumbs as much as I can, into my natural nail, and then making sure I have enough acrylic or hybrid gel over top to hide the seams. Is there a workaround for this? I'm fairly good at sculpting my sets, but, because I have a love of doing nails, I like to change my sets out once a week, so press-ons are an easier option for when I just want something quick.

I dont know of any company that makes wide nails-most ideal is learning how to form and apply acrylic- thats why i like custom built nails

I learned the hard way.First time I put on full tips (wasn’t gel tips) I just glued it on the natural nail bed with no protection underneath.3 weeks later I wanted it off so I sat for more than 5hrs for both hands just to get it off me it totally destroyed my nails.The acetone damaged my skin so bad that 3 day after it got hard and after that my skin started peeling off.now I put a thin layer of hybrid gel and preferably a darker colour so I know when to stop filing.And a little tip i learned for those of you that soak it off use a little coconut oil in the warm acetone it protects your skin

Something that accelerates the filing is to use a gel remover before you file it! It goes much faster in all these layers! 😜

Question: why would you file the lenght when you can just cut it?
I tried the process with the acetone and it was a really bad decision for my skin, it removed the product but my skin got really dry and ended up scratching the nail, soo I only use the firts method, and lately, thanks to these videos, I can finally use the E-File just as Suzie explains, thanks BTW!

I have developed an allergy to un- cured gel polish, I love to have my nails done and have vast amount of products,I’m now making press ons, what is the best way of removing them please, also what are the best type of gloves to wear when painting
yeah, soaking the gel tip in acetone for 30+ minutes sucks. tried filing it down first but it takes and eternity squared to the power of eons (not forever) to remove whats left. moderately scraping it off the edges is the way i get the rest off. filing the last bit then more scraping. still new to gel so its a struggle to say the least. classic nail polish is so much easier to work with. i got 24 classic nail polish bottle and 3 gel colors. got too many classic ones right now that i need to use up but i still plan to use the gel ones eventually.
My job involves soaking aircraft parts in acetone to remove paint and various coatings. We use a cloth pad saturated in acetone to keep contact on the surface that we’re soaking to encourage the paint to release. It’s funny how similar it is to removing acrylics lol

When I was getting my nails done back in the day it would be so relaxing I could fall asleep. Now here lately they burn me those drills. I already have things nails so when they use that drill I cringe. It is like they get happy. I am going to have to start doing my own nails for special occasions.

I always wonder when I see some of the rings Suzie wears where she gets them as well. I have seen plenty of cheap rings similar to hers on a couple of sites, but I can't wear them because I was born with a severe allergy to anything that isn't at the least stainless steel, surgical steel or pure (not plated) gold, white or yellow gold.
When you soak the nails off, you can use that time to watch a video from Suzie, and see what what colour and new design you are going to do on your nails 😊

Suzie has already done some - look up "hybrid gel" in her videos... they helped me when I started using the gel with dual forms (poppits) and today I started to use paper/foil forms with hybrid gel (aka polygel in tubes)

I really like the natural look. I have tried to put a thin layer of selfleveling gel on to strengthen my nails. I am a nailtechnchian with not a lot of experience. I have practiced on myself, doing all shape and lengths to learn. However I can not have long nails myself because I paint with oilpaint. That is just one of then other sort of art I do.
Why won't a gel like for exampl6 the Kiara Sky liquid builder gel in a bottle, stay on my nails as a fortification. I swear I prep like crazy. You could maybe almost call it over prepping if that is a thing. Please help. What type of gel is best just to put a strengthening protective layer on your natural nail. Thank you 😊
