A note for myself - 100% acetone, in a small bowl - Buffing cubes in different ranges - Nail files - Nail pusher - Cuticle oil - Cardboard, tea towel, napkin / paper towel 1. File with the buffing cubes (coarse -> medium -> fine) 2. Soak nails in the acetone bowl (protect the furniture underneath) 4. Remove the polish with the nail pusher effortlessly (If you need to force, stop there & put the nails back in acetone for a few more minutes) 5. Smooth out with the fine buffing cubes 6. Shape the nail tips with the files 7. Apply the cuticle oil & rub
Hint- You can pour acetone in a small bowl to rest your nails and then sit that bowl inside a bigger one with hot water and it’ll soak off in half the time 😉
@yaniradeltororivera5981 try putting the bowl on a coffee cup warmer instead. So much easier. Just make sure you prepare and put it on the warmer in advance to allow the acetone enough time to warm up. About 15 minutes or so ahead for a small amount. The big benefit of this vs. a bag of water is that it stays consistently warm, allowing time to take your hand out to scrape if needed, repeat until you're done, etc. Doesn't get too hot, either, just the right temperature. You can always put a thin piece of fabric underneath the bowl as a heat buffer if you're sensitive to the the temperature, but I use it this way and don't find it too hot. Hope this is helpful!

I usually just use 180 grit to file off all of them completely and proceed with 4-way buffer because gel nails really withstand acetone. It takes less time tbh! Just make sure to go around the nail when filing so you don’t file one part too much and then having another part of the nail still covered with gel so they come off altogether at the same time to prevent filing your natural nail bed. Hope that make sense! -a nail tech

Great info on the removal of gel nail polish. OAN; Refrain from the extra info/talking (like what you’re currently watching in tv or what your wearing and why) I ONLY Came to see/hear how to remove gel nail polish. I had to fast forward too many times to get to the information I wanted, the gel nail polish removal Otherwise, great info.
@@Metuka1122 I don’t think it’s necessarily bad for your skin, it just dries it out a LOT. but you can put Vaseline around your cuticles before soaking and then put cuticle oil on afterwards and you should be good to go!
Tried your method for the first time today. It’s so much better than foil. Also you can use a funnel or small jug ( I found a little plastic jug that came with the iron ) to decant the left over acetone back in the bottle.
This was so helpful! I just did my first gel manicure last week, but I hadn't really determined how I will remove them. This looks perfect, as it's not nearly as intimidating as the other methods I've seen. I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. Thank you so much!♥️
I'm so glad that you found it helpful! Removal is not as messy/scary as it seems, just take your time -- really let them soak and they'll come right off! :)
Hah, I’m in the same boat a few months later. Got a uv light and gave myself gel nails for the first time. Love the way they look but was dreading taking them off because I could tell making little foils for every finger would annoy the heck out of me. Will definitely go this route.
Thanks so much! Removal was the reason I didn't want to ever do gel, even though I love all the beautiful designs. I am now free to create! You are so pleasant to watch and very helpful in your teaching style. Thanks again!
I recently developed a gel polish allergy. I’m devastated but I found a regular polish top coat that gives the Gel effect! This saved me when I was worried of how I’d take off the gel.
Perfect thank u I needed this ...I saved a100.00$ last week by not being able to go to the nail salon I think I’ll just polish my own nails and feet 💁🏽♀️
Gel is actually the safest for nails, but it’s best to be as gentle with removal as you can. There are also gel polish steamer remover products on Amazon that are less abrasive, which work good too
Thank You, you saved my nails I was scared to go back to the nail salon! I don’t like them using those nail drills. Last time they went near my cuticles and it hurt so bad! I went home and cleaned it and neosporin took care of it and a bandaid. 😢
Quick question: How long would you recomend waiting in between manicures? This method of removal seems very gentle but I feel like a waiting period in between might seem necessary. Would you suggest it?
I know you’re not asking me BUT I usually keep my gel nails on for a week or 2? I will say the longer you’ve had them on the less time you’ll probably need to put them in acetone. If there just a few days old it’ll obviously take a little longer but the acetone will do it’s job either way to take it all off🤗 Idk if that answers your question🫢 sorryyyyy
The foil worked very well fir me. Tiny bits of 1 cotton ball. Wrapped in foil. 5 minutes later, I just pushed off the soft polish with the end of my nail. No buffing or scraping. Then, I put Vaseline on my nails and fingers.😊
Okay so I finally found a solution to removing *Modelones Nail Gel UV/LED soak off gel.* Turns out out of desperation I tried everything and Soaking cotton pads and folding them in half with Acetone nail polish remover then placing them on the nail, wrapping it with Aluminum foil and letting sit tight enough that it wont fall off for 10 minutes/15 mins + then getting a wooden/metal scraper and pushing the nail polish off gently. Lastly open the used foil paper and take the acetone cotton pad, and clean off the access nail polish and it should be back to normal! I'm sitting here satisfied after being stuck with my old nail polish on my toes for 4 days lol. Thought I'd share the Progress. ♡♡♡
I know this is an older video, but I'm so glad I found you!! I have an old set of gels that need to come off and I've ruined my nails in past removing gels. I did not want to make that same mistake again. Thank you for this! I'm on my way to Sally's right now to pick up everything I'll need. ❤
I went to a small Thai manicure shop down the street from my house, finally, my nails were long and healthy and I decided to add the gels for strength. I had French tips and they were the most beautiful nails I've ever had.(I usually only get pedicures.) I was truly astonished for 2 months but. I realized they used the rotating nail file of death every time they removed the gels. I thought they were only taking off the gel and not my nail layers- that darn lazy way I knew this was not a good thing but didn't think to look on RUclips- silly me. They took off so many layers of my nails they started bending with the gels on the middle of my nail bed! So painful! I had them taken off -now my nails are paper thin -with layers growing out- frayed and thin I have to file them several times a day. I couldn't touch my nails for about 2 weeks the nail beds were so exposed and thin, I couldnt' even reach into my purse without pain. .Word to all- do not let them use that auto round file- do this instead. All too late for me it will take me 4-5 months to grow my nails out. Now to yelp the salon.
Just another option - many people find it difficult and uncomfortable to use foils on themselves. I personally find it takes longer. But everyone is different!
Not only is it annoying to wrap them up and for me it took longer. Being a right handed person I can always wrap up on left hand but then when it gets to my right hand I can only do about two nails before I can’t do the rest and the two I was able to do took some time lol (that’s because I choose to do both hands together opposing to doing one hand, waiting and then the other). Also I did the foil process today because people are always telling me it’s quicker. I soaked a cotton ball in 100% acetone and wrapped my left hand and two fingers on my right hand and left them for 25 minutes. Once I removed them none of the dip powder came completely off. It did work but didn’t take it all off and my dip powder was pretty thin plus I used an electric file to file it down even more. I again filed as much as I could off with my electric file and was about to start a second process and then I was like maybe I’ll try to acetone, hot water and dipping my hand in method to see if it’s quicker. Holy cow it was! I dipped my nails (my right hand which still had all the dip powder in tact because it barely cake off the first two nails I tried) for 15 minutes and I took them out to check on them and it was completely gone. I probably didn’t even need 15 minutes, I could’ve did 10 and it would’ve been off. & then I finished soaking off my left hand which took less than 5 minutes. The one thing I do hate about doing the soak off method is that it drys my fingers out and if you have cuts it burns. But I ended up washing my hands and applying lotion and my fingers feel fine now,
Thank you so much for your video. I got my first gel manicure and had no idea how to remove it myself. This seems so easy, so I will be trying it. Thanks again!
The only thing I need to do this is the acetone and the tool. half of my gel polish on one finger came off and it's been bothering me so much! It worries me because every time I take off gel polish myself my nail is really weak and it bends super easy.
Thank you sooooo much! I need to do my gel pedi. I don’t have time to go to the nail salon and you just made my life easier and I love it!!! You just earned a follower. 🥰😌
Any of the above would likely work just as well! I don't notice the tool to be damaging my nail at all, I just prefer it because it covers a wider area. :)
Thank you for your informative video! You're cute! Unfortunately, this isn't working on my gel manicure I had done in a salon. I've filed profusely without damaging the nail underneath and already had my nails soaking for 20+ minutes with no luck. I am going to try adding salt to my water and a hot towel. Hopefully the hot towel will help. Curious why this isn't working for me.
I'm so sorry it's not working for you! I'm really unsure what it could be. Once in a while my polish is SO stubborn & I just end up having to soak extra long. There's another video on my channel featuring finger clips for gel removal that work AMAZING! It's linked in the description of this video! :)
My nail salon charges $10 for gel polish removal. Just my input since you said you weren't sure at the end of your video. I don't have any type of buffers or acetone (or any nail polish remover) at home, but I should for future use! Thank you for teaching me this method.
Ugh! I don't know if I'll ever figure this out. I just tried this but maybe I'm filing uneven or I just don't have the skills because I damaged my nails again. I love the wear of gel but I'm wondering if I'm doomed to regular polish only just so I don't ruin my nails again.
Started doing my own nails since January this year (which has perks during pandemic 😂) great video, definitely going to try this when I do gel polish the next time
The tip of buffing off as much nailpolish is a really good one! The instructions on the brand i ordered from said to just buff off the shine to let the acetone soak in better. But after 10+ minutes it still didn’t want to come off easily and i ended up damaging my nails by scraping it off lol. I’ll just buff them more next time
I grow my nails naturally and always have so thank you for the tips of removing gel cause I'm always getting manicures and sick of paying$75 a week for a Mani and pedi 🦋
Your natural nails are beautiful. I would love to grow my natural nails like yours. I just Found your channel and I will be watching out for videos on how you take care of your nails. Thank you!!
I can’t wait to try this! I have been working so hard to grow my nails and got a gel manicure recently, and was so scared that it would cause damage to my nails because they have in the past.
Well I started using gel without knowing how if all works, so when taking it off I just peeled it off taking the top layers of my nail off too..... so it’s needless to say that I needed this thank you. I mean I knew it was gonna come off but it’s still not good for the nails do here I am doing proper research.
Thanks for watching! Yes, definitely try to avoid peeling the polish off if possible. The weak portion will grow out & the nails will come back in stronger! 💪🏼💅🏼
Thank you for your video. I’m going to do this. If you go in to just remove the gel yes they charge you. If you’re getting a fresh set then they do not charge you.
Thanks for watching - good luck!! ❤️There’s a set of removal clips on Amazon that I’ve been loving too!! That video is also on my channel & linked in the description. Nice to be able to save a little $$ and remove at your own convenience!
Thanks for that info, I figured they probably charged something. :) I'm so glad you enjoyed Ruth - very easy! Save yourself a little time & money in the salon! XOXO
The salon I went to used another nail to slide underneath my nails to remove them. I asked her to soak, she said they didn't do it that way. It hurt like hell and my nail bed was sore. Never again!
That is pretty pricey! Worth it if you don't have the time/energy to do it yourself...or mind spending. But it's nice to be able to remove them yourself. Thank you so much for the kind compliments! :)
@@AmandaBellaa So fast thank you!! I had bought a gel nail kit but the remover pads did nothing but tickle the polish lol Trying this method out, thanks again :)
I use Kiarasky dip powder on my nails. I file mine a tiny bit, then put a small pad that has a little acetone on it wrap each one with foil then I take a heating pad ( filled with rice) place it in the microwave for two minutes then I place the hot pad over my nails. In 5 -10 minutes the nail dip stuff comes off! Simple clean and very very nice! Much neater than your video here. Try it I’m sure you’ll love it. ( as a nurse I can tell you It’s VERY dangerous to breathe in acetone, that’s why I won’t have an open dish of it.)
I am in the process of growing out my nails after 20-30 years of biting ( i know thats a very long time lol) and its a disgusting habit, so finally decided to stop once and for all. Are there any tips you can give me to keep me on the right track? You have beautiful nails btw!!
Ty for this video. I wished I watched it before removing my gel yesterday. It took me hours to remove. What I did wrong was not filing enough polish off in the beginning.

YAY!! I'm on about the same nail schedule as you. I'm working on it. I'm hoping to book time to film my mani's every other week :) I'm really glad you enjoy watching!! XOXO
I literally just gave your video a thumbs up I really love how the whole process just went not all that extra stuff like using the foils I was trying to find a good video to remove gel polish and came across this one I really enjoyed your video Thank you for sharing can't wait to see more 😊🩷💕
Thank yooou! I'm thinking about growing out my nails again and wanted to avoid using foils to remove the gel :< so this is perfect!! Happy New Year :)
You're so welcome!! I just got some new tools for removing gel (that don't require foils) that I'm excited to try & share!
Great info on the removal of gel nail polish.
OAN; Refrain from the extra info/talking (like what you’re currently watching in tv or what your wearing and why)
I ONLY Came to see/hear how to remove gel nail polish.
I had to fast forward too many times to get to the information I wanted, the gel nail polish removal
Otherwise, great info.
@@negressofjudah8441 that’s a you problem
@@AmandaBellaa btw doesnt the acetone soaking bad for your skin? Was just wondering.
I felt the same way about joffrey lol I will still sometimes rewatch it. Its a great series overall. I love your nail removal video.
I can't wait to rewatch GOT! ◡̈ Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks so much! Removal was the reason I didn't want to ever do gel, even though I love all the beautiful designs.
I am now free to create!
You are so pleasant to watch and very helpful in your teaching style. Thanks again!
Very sweet of you to say, I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. This removal method is the best - fool proof! Good luck!! :) XOXO
Totally! Save so much $$ by doing it yourself!
Your nails look gorgeous natural, looks like you have french tips 😍
Aw thank you so much!!!
i just got a gel manicure for the first time & i’m scared my nails are going to get ruined
I'm so happy this helped! The salons can be really rough - and it's even worse when you have to pay for it. Thanks for watching! XO
😊 Thank you, saved me from going back to the salon for removal. Last time they damaged my nails.
Yay! Glad I could help!
You are the only nail channel I can watch on normal speed, usually I have everyone else on 1.75x lol xoxo
Hahaha I'm honored!
Thank you so much! This really helped me take my gel nail polish off without having to pay for it. 👍👍
Yay! That's awesome - happy it helped, Melinda!! XO
This is just what I needed I was just wondering how I was going 2 get my nails off. Thank you
Yay! So happy to help - good luck! XOXO
Excellent. Thank you. I’m starting to do my own gel nails. It’s crazy how much we pay salons to have our nails ruined 💕
I know this is an older video, but I'm so glad I found you!! I have an old set of gels that need to come off and I've ruined my nails in past removing gels. I did not want to make that same mistake again. Thank you for this! I'm on my way to Sally's right now to pick up everything I'll need. ❤
Watching because salon waaaay expensive for simple nails and my at home nail tech flaky. Thank you for helping me be independent
Thank goodness for you. You saved my nails. Your tips on safe gel polish removal is fantastic. Thanks again. From G. Xx
YAY! Made my day. Glad it helped you! XOXO
Aw man that sucks I'm sorry to hear that! I hope they grew out okay?
What is advantage to doing this over wrapping foil ? It's more comfortable to me to wrap and wait rather than dip my fingers in a bowl of acetone
But I ended up washing my hands and applying lotion and my fingers feel fine now,
I appreciated your instructions because I hated soaking my nails in the acetone for long periods to remove old polish.
I was going to say HOLY BROWS GIRL lol I’m glad you explained that.
Oh my gosh they were SO intense, but what are ya gunna do! LOL They're healing nicely, the sharpie effect is pretty much gone haha. XO
She needs to watch a brow tutorial
Amanda Bellantoni I didn’t notice your brows. You are beautiful. I know this is old but thanks for the tutorial. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Jessica Loveland, if you watched the video she explained why they looked like that. 🤦♀️
I really wanna see how her brows turned out!! Im too old for all this following "youtubers" but I'd love to see them!
Thank you so much for your video. I got my first gel manicure and had no idea how to remove it myself. This seems so easy, so I will be trying it. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for watching, good luck with your removal. You've got this!!
The only thing I need to do this is the acetone and the tool. half of my gel polish on one finger came off and it's been bothering me so much! It worries me because every time I take off gel polish myself my nail is really weak and it bends super easy.
Same I got acrylicis and my nail got SO damaged u can bend it so easily so they did gel nails for me and I’m scared to take off my gel now
I tried it today and its amazing! Saved me money and trip to the salon to get it done. It does take time and a bit of effort.
Thank you sooooo much! I need to do my gel pedi. I don’t have time to go to the nail salon and you just made my life easier and I love it!!! You just earned a follower. 🥰😌
New subscriber here! Such a simple yet Super helpful video, thank you!! I am new to doing gel nails at home and despise the removal process
Thank you for sharing! Removing the gel was super easy using your method.
This is so inconvenient. I'm not moving to gel anytime soon. But thanks for the video. It was super helpful
It's definitely more of a commitment! Like everything, has it's own advantages/disadvantages! Thanks for watching :)
Is it safe to use the metal half moon tool? Would something wooden or plastic be just as effective (and not risk damaging your nail)?
Any of the above would likely work just as well! I don't notice the tool to be damaging my nail at all, I just prefer it because it covers a wider area. :)
I just noticed this is an older video but it is still so helpful! Thank you! And your natural nails are just so pretty!
I love that dark red color. It is so pretty.
It’s sad that I had to go to RUclips to figure this out😂 Damn nail salons are closed 😂🤦🏾♀️
No shame, I RUclipsd how to clean my coffee stained coffee mugs this AM. YT has an answer for everything! LOL
Yes girl same!!! 🤣
It's baked on to our nails never again
My nail salon charges $10 for gel polish removal. Just my input since you said you weren't sure at the end of your video. I don't have any type of buffers or acetone (or any nail polish remover) at home, but I should for future use! Thank you for teaching me this method.
So , how do we dispose of the acetone ? Down the sink? Is that safe..?
What I like to do is soak up the remaining acetone with paper towel and then just toss it. Safer that way
It worked for me perfectly from the start. Great video, very useful! 😊
So so happy to hear that! :)
This was helpful and easy. My nail salon charges $5 to remove gel polish and they use foil.
Thanks for that info, I figured they probably charged something. :) I'm so glad you enjoyed Ruth - very easy! Save yourself a little time & money in the salon! XOXO
$5 is cheap af
@@MilwaukeeWoman its adds up overtime
The salon I went to used another nail to slide underneath my nails to remove them. I asked her to soak, she said they didn't do it that way. It hurt like hell and my nail bed was sore. Never again!
@@twintwo278 Had that done to me too! One time they filled all the way through my natural nail to my skin. Terrible
I think I like this method better y the others I watched! Does this work for overlay??
the salon I go to charges 10 bucks to remove which I find ridiculous. You have beautiful fingernails!
That is pretty pricey! Worth it if you don't have the time/energy to do it yourself...or mind spending. But it's nice to be able to remove them yourself. Thank you so much for the kind compliments! :)
What lippy are you wearing? Love this tutorial for the removal, btw!
Can I ask where did you get your block buffers/files from? Also thanks for this!!
I didn't realize they weren't linked!! Just updated the description box for you. :)
@@AmandaBellaa So fast thank you!! I had bought a gel nail kit but the remover pads did nothing but tickle the polish lol
Trying this method out, thanks again :)
I wish I saw this sooner!! I just wasted so much time trying to take mine off and this worked like a charm!!
The only video that actually was as promised. Thanks sooo much!!!!!!!
I stopped biting mine as well and I’m kinda sad my nails grow up because there’s not enough nail bed :(
Ty for this video. I wished I watched it before removing my gel yesterday. It took me hours to remove. What I did wrong was not filing enough polish off in the beginning.
Wow! Thanks. This process looks so easy and quick to do. I am definitely going to try it out. 👍🏼
Thank you for this vid. So, much better than the foils. This was my second and last gel manicure. Its jst too much.
I do the same process when I remove my gel. I can’t stand wrapping them in foil, I feel like it takes forever!
I agree! I've never had a very positive experience with the foil method. Glad this works for you too! :)
Your nails are actually so prettyyyy. And hands !
You're very kind!! Thank you!!
Literally takes me an hour to remove my gel polish. I use 100% acetone and I use Beetles base coat. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😱.
Just seen this vid it's Brill to help my first time taking off my gel nail varnish! Thankyou!
So glad it helped!
