What are the benefits to running JB4 with BEF Vs JB4 only?
That is the real question...

You just gave me the clarity of mind and understanding of the JB4 system I've been looking for. Thanks a Million, I'm buying the JB4 for my 2011 E90 335i Performance Edition 6AT.
I've run my custom tune for about 70000 miles.
During this time I have not changed spark plugs, coil packs, or any other engine component except for the HPFP one time.
I'm sure the JB4 system can be a great tool, but hearing how often US 335i owners change this and that (according to RUclips videos), I will happily stick to my custom tune.
System has not thrown a single code except for when my HPFP went. Cudos to ESS for making a killer tune!

I just installed inlets, RB turbo Twos, catless downpipes, and a jb4 with backend flash. It’s super helpful to know I can adjust spool aggression because of the bigger turbines
Remember the more you crank up that turbo, the more fuel youre gonna need. If you haven't upgraded your HPFP, you'll have too shortly lol
Now do one on the cons of the jb4 and pros of a flash only.
CON, only two 1) Cost 2) Complexity that's it.
Will this be updated? MHD has been improved in several iterations since this vid was created.
Doesnt the JB4 NEED a seperste relay & harness etup for NLS & 2-Step/Launch Control? It did need that back when i had ,y JB4 G5 ISO.
The Etahnol Sensor is also needed to be purchased seperastely for E85 "Flex Fuel" Setup.. It is also needed to be installed in-line with the LPFP fuel supply line to the HPFP, so that the JB4 can get an accurate Ethanol Content % reading...

I MHD flashed stage 2+ on my E60 535xi with a manual transmission , upgraded turbos , catless downpipes , charge pipe with BOV , 2.25 inch inlet pipes and K&N cones and 93 octane , as heavy as this car is this set up turned it to a beast , my friend's 2017 C63 AMG gets beat by my BMW every time , MHD flash has been fantastic to me , how would the JB4 be better ?

Great video but out of date. MHD has greatly advanced over the last 3 years since this video was made. It appears to be equal to JB4. MDH now claims same level of monitoring and protection. JB4 now claims full engine adjustment such as timing.

Hey all, I have a 2008 535i and I'm new to this whole MOD life. First of all I'd like to say that I'm learning a lot of great info and I site here. My goal is to increase my power and performance and get as much out of my car as I can without damaging it and keeping it street legal. I actually paid a mechanic to do all of this along with some other things and now we're in court because he didn't do a thing but ran off with the money. So I'm open and hoping to get some real first step advice .
whats good bro i got the same car 08 535i rear wheel drive im tellin you one of the best bmw tuner engines .These engines come out the factory with forged internals i know ppl pushin 400 420 whp with stock turbos just tune and cat less down pipes . Best bet just go the route i did full bolt on with a jb4 or mhd tune and you can easy get up to 450 whp if you upgrade your turbos easily 525-600 whp so just look into the full bolt on route you wont regret it .
Once I have a BEF installed can I use the Jb4 steering wheel settings to make changes like going to map 5 and setting Port injection

Congrats on the addition to your Family! I have a 2013 335i M Sport sedan, you will Love it! so much torque down low in Sport Mode where you really get to use it for daily driving.

I know this video is old but did you have to change the default jb4 settings after you did the back end flash?
Just have to do the JB4 backend flash option 4/2 option I believe if I remember. Other than that you don’t need to change anything else

i bought jb4, bef, bluetooth. Listened to the hype about MHD alone, so sold the jb4 and went mhd. Now i almost regret doing it, mainly because i lost bluetooth, safety,mmeth controls and better app
Mhd now is way better then jb4 alone, it has Bluetooth and works with iOS now with way more settings
How did you get you lights so bright? Mine are so dim
if i went with flash alone can i down the line uninstall it and add a jb4 then a backflash

JB4 and WMI, then downpipes and drag radials. After that BEF, maybe Pure turbo upgrade, in-tank pump upgrade.

When it comes to upgrading your turbos. Which ones are better? Single turbo kit or Upgraded twins? Because I'm looking to make 700 to 750 rwhp on my E92
Single
Definitely single especially at those power levels. Look into the single turbo kit by one of the three-four main companies making single turbo kits for the 335i E9X N54’s.
Can you use the rev limiter or anti lag on the AT?

Bmw fanatic I have a quiestion . I have the same exact car as yours I been thinking about putting the gb4 the only thing I don’t want is my cluster lighting up with check engines or giving false readings . What do you suggest?

i am not a expert but i would say start with a good intake and exhuast system
E90 BR I would go with a tune first since you would get a great bang for your buck! Then add on the other stuff that would bring out the tune even more.

i'm still confused about the jb4 backend flash? i'll have to rewatch the video again.
It gives you more control and allows the JB4 to do it's thing better. No matter what you are working with the stock tune with the JB4. There are things it can't do and it can't ratchet down torque limits. So, the BEF supports all of that by allowing the JB4 dig in and really improve performance beyond that of a base flash. Basie flashes have to changed if say you are running WMI. The benefit of the JB4 it always knows if you are using WMI or not depending on settings. What you basically get is about as close to a stand alone with additional inputs that typically don't get flash tuning and it's all on the fly.
@BMWFanatic : With FMC + Charge Pipe + Down Pipe +Twin air filters + JB4. Car is a daily driver. Is that a good combination or MHD does some magic with JB4 that it is required ?
Add the BEF, I don't see why you wouldn't. The car is much faster with a BEF than without it and faster than a flash alone.

fadhel touq think so if your running jb4 and you have already went catless.....otherwise you'd probably burn them up revving around 5k

Also the JB4 Usb Cable should be included with the JB4 Kit. They're going to charge you $500+ and not include a cable that i fell is necessary, that costs them what $3-$5 max to make.. Its a Specially Pinned USB -to- Serial (RS232) Cable. Hence the reason it states on the website a regular USB TO SERIAL converter cable can NOT be used. I purchased the cable b/c i feel much more comfortable doing a firmware update to the JB4 using a USB cable developed for the JB4 and a laptop, running the JB4 PC Program. I mean really its the least they can do is included the stupid little, cheap cable.
Also the JB4 APP & Bluetooth Connect Kit is around $100 or more. Which further solidifies my opinion, that the hardwired cable, needed to make changes and updates with a PC laptop to the JB4 Hardware Unit itself. I'm not knocking the JB4 AT ALL, it is a great product, and still to this day, shows how important it is to the E90 Tuning Scene, as well as MANY newer F-series BMW's (M3, M3, M4, 328i, 320i, 330i, 230i, M240i, etc)

Its needed for basic things like JB4 firmware updates and setting changes..
I dont want to perform an update to it wirelessly and have an issue in the process..
And I have a JB4 G5 ISO in my garage and MHD flashed on my DME right now. So your comment is just dumb and pointless..
