#PHOTOGRAPHY
this is the correct way to do an unboxing video
If you want to replicate the film experience, try a 8GB memory card with a 100mp camera.
Hahaha
What I've been thinking too haha
love how youve been framing your headshots. youve been definitely been watching good films!
I’m wondering how you might feel about trying something like FujiXWeekly on the GFX100S, where you set up a few looks in-camera that are attempts at film simulations bound to the JPEG, but obviously leaving the RAF file alone. It seems counterintuitive for what is a 100 megapixel camera aimed at pros, but it works for me because I like the limitations it puts on my image making. Rather than shooting raw and trying to edit later - which usually leads to a rabbit-hole of trying to maximize the potential of the file and not the image - I find that I capture what I want on the first go and make relatively few tweaks afterwards.
Calmest voice ever : this is a very exciting delivery.
Who are some of the digital-photographers you think have nice colours?
Damien Maloney (when he shoots digital)
I am not George but look at 'Growing Spaces' by Chris Hoare
I am not George but look at Wolfgang Tillmans from 2010 on
@@jarequemetabolski Wolfgang Tillmans is a great example. What a legend
Samuel Elkins shoots the same camera I think and his colors are beautiful
May I suggest trying the Acros film simulation. The RAW files are still full colour but you will see bw through the viewfinder. Capture One will also recognize and display the bw profile.
pov: you're a giant lovingly looking down upon smol George
brrooo this top down shot at the beginning is a banger!!! dis color grade yo
your videos are short and sweet in the best possible way
The camera shots in this video look like a 90s commercial for popsicles
Cool photos and video editing as always!
The best lenses for the system are 135 adapted which happen to cover the image area. The fuji lenses are a little too clinical. 200mm is the ideal portrait length on GFX, in my opinion.
this! especially leica r lenses. the 90 and 50mm summicrons are the real deal, especially the 90.
Please share some color digital photographers you enjoy, George!
i lovd the crazy perspectives
From what I've seen in my own wishful thinking window shopping, many 35mm lenses have a large enough projection to cover the GFX sensor (should be called 127 format instead of medium?). a vintage 58mm f/1.2 on the GFX will go a long way to scratching the shallow depth of field itch.
There are also focal reducers for medium format lenses on GFX, adding a 0.7x crop. This is of particular interest to me; I love my Pentacon Six lenses, and would love a non-fiddly way to use them on digital.
My 100S has been on backorder from B&H for some time now ... already received the 80mm
I wonder about how the GFX50R was challenging to get that "medium format look" versus the 100S. As they have the same size sensor and lens mount, wouldn't simply using the 80mm f/1.7 on the 50R get that same look without dropping nearly $10k? Of course the resolution is halved, but aside from the resolution, as that "look" is more based on focal length, depth of field, and of course, aspect ratio.
Medium format look on these crop sensors is a myth - Emporer's new clothes type of stuff. The Phase One would probably have it, but you really need 6x6 and upwards to get that medium format look.
@@robiulahmed but even then, that “medium format look” itself is a myth itself, you can acheive that look on any camera if you crop accordingly, and with shallow dof photos, using a low enough f-stop to simulate that look. A 50mm full frame photo cropped to 4x5 looks nearly identical to a rb/rz67 medium format frame shot at 127mm (as 67 cameras dont actually shoot a 6x7 frame, its more like a baby 4x5 frame)
Its all about choices made when making the image, but regardless you can achieve that “look” if you play your cards right.
Its all about equivalent field-of-view, take a gander at the Viewfinder Mark ii app and youll see how various cameras with various lenses cropped in to the same aspect ratio will allow for the same look if you nail which lens allows that look for each compared camera
@@JeffSmudde I see what you're saying and I sort of both agree and disagree. All the points you raise are valid for digital photography. However, having shot film on half frame, 35mm, 6x6 and 6x9 as well as having looked at lots of Hasselblad prints, I'd say that there is definitely a medium format look - but only for film. I forget the photographer's name....Peter something...he had a photo book called the Rock and Roll album and he passed away fairly recently. Anyway, his photos could only have been shot on film and the resolution far exceeded 35mm. Therefore, it could've only been shot on medium format. That's why people use that expression.
@@robiulahmed yeah it is more of a character thing than it is field of view, crop and focal length. Mamiya lenses have a particular character that pentaxs don’t, as hasselblads and leicas do as well, so in that regard, there is a particular “look” that is more affected by the lens than the size of the negative
luv ur crocs george
The medium format look is just a better signal to noise ratio and less visible lens aberrations as you can get a shallow depth of field at a higher f-stop
The camera angles on your channel are always so unique, kudos for experimenting.
I think in digital the slow methodical way of thinking comes in post processing where you can really work the photo to your liking, its definitely not like film and if you're searching for a film experience digital really doesn't get close except for something like a leica
You could try adapting medium format lenses on the 100s if you can find an adapter, i think id make a great video and i haven't seen anyone try it
Cheers
where does the film go in?
strange angles mate and congrats on camera and oh yeah these angles i'm really feeling
I’m curious if you continued using the camera and how you like it after having had it over time
Get used to those film simulations and you’ll be fine, look into film recipes also. Good to see you working out of your comfort zone too!
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this short little video. I’m pretty jealous of the camera though.
Any insight on how you processed the photos around 2 minutes? Did you use any in-camera or in-post filters or did you edit the raw file. The look is really good for digital
I’ve been waiting for this video for a while… Great Vid!
I really like the angles in this video lol
Fuji is famous for their film simulations recipes, you can actually create your own tone and color straight from the camera, you should try make one or two film recipes George. Yet i still don't know are we able to make recipes / presets in fuji's medium format lineup ✌🏻
is 100mp enough to take pictures of flowers?
No.
you should try out the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 65mm f/1.4. manual focus but an amazing lens for GFX
Hadn’t seen this before, looks pretty cool!
looking forwards to see if you get anything out of the fuji film simulations !
I love the new angles you've been experimenting with in your videos, keep up the good work :)
Oh no way! Martin 😍😍😍
Try a Tiffen GlimmerGlas 1 Filter on your GFX. It adds more of that glow and softness of analogue film. It solved this "too digital" problem for me.
I’ve got a black pro mist 1/4 on it for now
@@NegativeFeedback it makes such a difference. Digital is too perfect and needs some imperfection :-)
did you do anything after using the Nostalgic Negative profile on these? I find they're a little orange when I put the RAW into capture one and have to shift the mid-tones away from red, then I'm much happier. Classic Negative and ACROS+R are still perfect tho.
Nostalgic Negative (or any film simulation) doesn’t affect the RAW files only the JPEGs.
I'd love to know if you have dived into Capture One yet? Not an ambassador but someone who has used it for the last few years and enjoys it.
gorgeous photos george!
Lovely shots man did you buy this or renting?
I've been looking at this camera for awhile. Mainly because I want to get rid of my god awful Canon's and just have a pure Fujifilm set up. Damn you for making me want it more though.
Wait so did you buy the gfx100s and the 80mm? If so will you switch your s1h for the gfx for your video setup? Since it's medium format and shoots 10bit and everything. The actual codec's efficiency compared to the s1h is trash though, with lots of desaturation when underexposed and macroblocking.
Were the portraits of the 1st person naturally lit? It looks amazing! 🤯
yup! big frosted windows opposite the subject
Nice
what lens did u use for that setup at 1:28? in the grass, the super-wide shot. THat shot look sick!
Still dreaming about the gfx50r mikaton 63mm 1.4 combo...
1:30 getting closer 😂
Just playful banter eh love your videos!
did you ad grain to the video?
George I'm all here for it but why was this filmed like a 90's music video...
GEORGE HELP! what camera and lens do you film your monologues with?! every video the super wide shot is so interesting to me, can i get that with my 70D and just buy a wide lens?
I'm not george but you can achieve this look with any modern camera with the proper lens. You should consider if you find those monologues interesting because they're wide or because they're shot from above. The focal length isn't typical but i'm sure you've seen in around before, like in old 80s and 90s music videos. The top down perspective to me is the cool thing
@@thegreaterconundrum thank you so much! i definitely like the monologues because they’re wide haha like in his other videos , but the top down thing was super cool !
George, where do you get you’re photos scanned? I’d love to know
Bayeux
@@NegativeFeedback thank uuu
Where's the lens hood?
POV: you fell on the ground and the first person who comes to help is George
what film simulation did you use?
FIRST FOR GEORGE
yay
big time tattoo inspo
Can you mention the photographers that shoot digital whom you think have a great color palette? It’d be interesting to know and also study.
there was nowt interesting about the model and pose; you could have done this on a standard mirrorless camera and would have looked the same... different eggs same omelette..
Has George gone to the Dark side 😅
Gfx are excellent value for money🤔
GFX100s? who is this guy???
dont know tbh
Oh no he didn't show us the camera manual and strap
How did he learn how to turn the camera on without the manual?
Wanna see mah boi George shooting gas stations on digital and simulating cinestill.
Wow, it’s so big....
How to tick off a Fuji rep part 1. Call their "film simulation" what it is, a filter.
Yo yo yo
hello
i'm only here for the fashion
same tbh
second
Your pal Palo Roo (sp?) looks a tad depressed. He needs a cheering up.
Third! :3
Like your work and style, but you seem to have lost the interest (or creativity) in producing RUclips content...
19cm or 18 cm or 17 cm..its not the same for a woman :)))
Kudos on the ridiculous shot angles on the video.
please don't use film simulations - yuk! ( yes, i shoot fuji)
Film is dead
margaret thatcher is dead
I'm not first
sorry
