In comparison, I have a humble yet much loved system with B&W 702 S2's featuring. I go to work everyday and can hardly stay on task because I am always dying to get home to hear them, such is the pleasure. To own a pair of the 804 D3's must be an absolute privilege.
Absolutely agree with you I also own the 702 s2 they sound amazing. I’m getting my new 804 d3 speakers delivered this coming Saturday and I can’t wait to hear them if the 702 sound this good I think I’m going to be blown away by the 804. I think I’m in love. Lol

Aleksey Zhbankov hi well where can I start the sound on the 804 is stunning so clean and very detailed. The main difference in my opinion is the 804 doesn’t have to force any sound if you know what I mean. So what I’m trying to say is they sound so very realistic nothing is stand out in your face and over the top just very natural. Now I love my 702 so don’t get me wrong here ok. But when I listen to them side by side with the 804 it’s like night and day difference I thought the diamond tweeter would sound a bit more in your face compared to the carbon but how wrong I was it is so sweet and extremely controlled sounding yet gives so much more in detail it still blows my mind now. The midrange is just strait up amazing too. Very detailed but not trying to force the sound of the instruments so what I’m saying is the whole thing is just lots more natural sounding. When I listened to you and your friend by mark nofler the guitar sounds very nice but very up front and in your face on the 702 where as on the 804 it just sounds like your listening to it right in front of you and it’s not over stated or being forced to sound clear and detailed. You can definitely hear the difference in the crossovers and the better driver’s. so for me it was definitely worth the extra money. Please don’t get me wrong though the 702s2 up until I got the 804 was by far the best sounding speakers I’d ever heard or owned they are strait up amazing for this price point. Hope this helps.

Aleksey Zhbankov sorry for long reply iv only just seen your message. I use a rotel 1592 not the best by a long way but bowers do own them and they tune these amps to compliment their speakers and I must say they sound very nice together. 200w per channel and you can bridge this amp if you like to get 400w a channel and the price is very reasonable at £2100 so in my opinion not a bad match. Of course you can get better but you will have to dig a bit deeper down in the pockets. for me it sounds fantastic. Thanks for asking and have a good day. 👍👍

I've been using JBL speakers all my life but the more I listen to the B&W brand the more I'm impressed with how wholesome they are. I can't believe this, but maybe it's time for a change.

JBL are WAY better than ugly B&W....check JBL L100 or the newer synthesis series

@@supashaker1 JBL sounds a million times better than ugly b&w....and also b&w needs a power plant in order to work because of their low sensitivity..not to say the JBL bass DESTROY poor b&w anyday..tannoy legacy..klipsch heritage and jbl synthesis are a zillion times better than ugly and wimpy b&w.

This is the best you tube video regarding quality of sound, quality of music and probably synergy of a system. B&W absolutely beautiful! Paul Mcgowan recently stated that there are no dealers any more. And he is absolutely right so this huge exception only confirms that rule! Well done my dear Italian friends!
Paul Mcgowan also says that B&W sound bad, so not every thing he says shout be taken to serious. But for the most part he knows what he is talking about :D
@@HvaSaAJones you gave yourself an answer. Paul didn't said that B&W are making bad spekaers instead he says that he doesn't like it. He also said so many times that the secret is in synergy and this video is all about that - and that is the achivement of the person who stands behind this video. Finally, the new 800 series from B&W is a bit different from their usual "Bowers signiture sound", and that be easily heard in this video. I don't know if Paul would change his mind but I like it very much. And that's why I spend so much time watching this and that video - to pursue a good sound, music. In my experience you can like one Bowers and don't like the other Bowers speaker - the same is true with other manufacturers. There is no rule! That is why we need the dealers like this. Again, my credit to this video channel!
@@freekwo7772 My point was just that Paul isn't always right in his statements about things and maybe there is a lack af good audio shops in the US but not in EU at all. But yes he says he do not like the sound of B&W and that is just a different way to say that the speaker are bad in his apinion, i do my self work in a audio store where we have B&W so i know about the signature of sound in the B&W 800-serie and i will agree with you on that. And i do also agree with you about this fantastic video :D
@@HvaSaAJones I'm not an advocate of Paul Mcgowan and I agree that everyone must judge on his own. I have watched his clip about retailers in 80's and comparison with nowdays ways of selling. Some speaker are not even exposed to see, not to mention to hear and there is expectation to buy it on deaf based upon audio magazines. I've recently listen 706 B&W and I found it excellent but floorstanding models not so. So my point is that every manufacturer haa good and bad apples and there is no better way but listening and experimenting with a setup and even positioning. In that manner I found this you tube channel very very helpful unlike many others.

Just bought the white version, upgraded from 702 S2s, appreciable improvement in scale, authority, sound-stage depth/layering, and especially resolution. The diamond tweeter is noticeably more refined and sweet, the bass notes clearly separated and more tonally accurate. My rig/setup is about $25K, streamer/dac, tube preamp, SS high-current amp (100 amperes nominal, 150 at peaks), mid-priced custom cables, power conditioner and isolation tweaks, and a modicum of room treatment. I would say this is the minimum $ rig/setup if you want to explore the limits of this speaker. Not even broken in yet and my jaw is on the floor when I play high-rez - Leonard Cohen's album Thanks For The Dance, Beck's Morning Phase, and Dave Brubeck's Take 5, to name a few. Just my 2 cents, but the B&W 800 D3 series is not for everyone - but if you want your music listening to be an EVENT, under $25K they are hard to beat if you know how to set them up right, you don't listen to MP3s, and your musical tastes lean away from 90s grunge and more towards the kind of artists/music I alluded to above.

In the audiophile segment, I always find it strange when I hear that I have to adapt my own taste in music to the system or the speakers in order to have fun and enjoyment instead of the other way around. For me, the devices have to correspond to my taste in music or come very close to it and that in every price range.
Beautiful! The speakers and the music combo sent chills down my spine. I had to purchase the CD after hearing this song. I was in the process of checking out a pair of B&W 804 D3's on craigslist and wanted to see what the reviews on RUclips had to say about them when I came across your posting. I fell in love with both the speakers and the song.

These speakers sound better being recorded and played over RUclips than mine running direct.
You know that's funny, in studios they have this thing called reamping where they will play a sound through a speaker and record it because it sounds better than the direct signal.

B&W speakers awesome. They are picky with the electronics you pair them with. Unfortunately, many people buy B&W speakers from big name store and pair them with crappy AVRs. They are not very forgiving speakers and takes on the characteristics of the amp, preamp, dac, all the way down to the speaker cable and power cable used. Even placement and toe in affects it quite a bit...It can turn from a velvety smooth sound to harsh and bright instantly.
Just stating my experience with them...

After reading several comments indicating better speakers for price, please provide speaker brand/model, for B&W speakers sound fidelity is excellent with accurate resolution across all frequencies, resulting in transparent detail, tonality, cadence, realistic voices that are more like live music - I could listen for hours.
I'm sure the turbine head speakers sound great but to say that I am pleased with these would be an understatement and I prefer their more "classic" appearance.

Just have never been able to get used to the B&W top end for extended listening. Seeing how nice these looked I thought I’d give them a listen. I found the same thing happened. For me they are just too harsh on top to listen for long periods.

I completely agree. They look better than they sound. I owned the 800 D3 briefly. The midrange was too "woolly" sounding for me.

I actually had a chance to do a direct A-B comparisson between the 804 and the 803D3, With the 803D#, I was like, where is the bass. I was listening to Muddy Waters Manishboy. Me and a friend thought the 804's were better than the 803.
That’s what happens when you don’t have enough power/current in an amp to drive the low end in larger speakers.
B&W makes some beautiful and well built speakers but their sound signature is not for me especially after owning a pair of 703s. They have this emphasis in the mid bass and highs and it even comes through here in the video.
Sergey Melnik how would you describe your 703 s2? Im looking into these speakers and would like to have some feedback. Is the sound warm or bright or neutral? Does it cause to u some ear fatigue after certain time of listening to? Thanks
@@sergheivelescu So i had the brown ones in excellent condition. They were probably visually the most beautiful speakers I've owned. I loved the curve at the top. So their sound is bright. Mids are slightly thin and the bass very very tight. Had that hard kick in the chest. The tweeters sounded very good. You could tell it was a quality driver however there was just too much of it. Even compared to the 800 series and people on the forums agree that the 703s are really bright. I couldnt stand them longer than 5 minutes and that's no exaggeration. The mids were tuned in a way that emphasize detail. So you could really hear the "clicks" in the sound. The bass was also tuned to be louder in the upper mid bass also probably for that sharp detail bass sound. In general it was a very cold analytical sounding speaker. I hated them and sold them quickly. Luckily B&W speakers are easy to sell.

@@sergheivelescu If you want detail, full mid-range, punchy bass and non-fatiguing highs (from a soft dome tweeter) then the following options could very well have what you are looking for: Dynaudio Confidence, Dynaudio Contour, Dynaudio Special Forty, Dynaudio Evoke.
@@sergeysmelnik You're talking about the old 703, the other person thought it was the S2. It's funny you said they are beautiful as Andrew Robinson called them ugly in his review but he thought they were amazing, as do I. I use a Marantz AVR and bi-amp - it gives me a bit of a warmer sound. Some people called it bright but most of them also considered the 800 series bright. I think with a tube amp, it would be amazing.
I also use Audyssey. What would you say is better than the 703?
Bom casamento com essas 804D3. Outro belo casamento com elas são os Marantz PM-10 e SA10. Dessa forma elas ficam mais musicais do que outros casamentos onde elas podem passar do ponto nas altas e dar fadigas.

Che sia la volta buona che B&W è riuscita a realizzare dei diffusori dalle sonorità neutre? Il woofer in kevlar era terribile, questomin alluminio sembra essere sulla buona strada! Complimenti avete un "parterre de roi" davvero notevole tra eletroniche e diffusori!
I like B&W, their old cm line is really nice, although theres way better speakers if you look harder, its a nice entry level or basic system speaker, the upper tier 800s are nicer, but still overpriced, and beaten by others. Also, they got rid of the black / yellow aesthetics for a simple grey / white cone color, not as nice imo.

Aí sim hem! Estou louco para ver uma comparação entre as novas KEF R e as novas Dynaudio Evoke. Nesse caso seria Evoke 20 VS KEF R3. E nas torres Evoke 30 VS KEF R5 e Evoke 50 VS KEF R11. Seria uma disputa das boas hem! E ainda tem as Sonus Faber Sonetto 3 na briga com as Evoke 30 e KEF R5 dentro das torres mais compactas.

Never liked B&W speakers. They have nice cabinets, but the sound is dark and muffled.
Have you heard this particular model? I have the same opinion about previous generations, but a brief listen to these partnered with Naim electronics proved otherwise
No, I have not. I went from B&Ws to Reference 3A, then Devore and never looked back. : )
BTW, I owned 3 pairs of different B&Ws in the past. Glad to hear they have improved.
