This is truly an insane setup, that's essentially like a $200k turntable. You can get a pretty awesome setup (by most standards) for the cost of his backup cartridge.
You can get an amazing sounding system for little over 1 grand. Very happy with my SVS Micro 3000 sub, KEF q150 speakers driven by Fosi ZA3 amp. Once I upgrade to Kef R3 Metas and a second sub, it'll probably be 99% of the sound quality of this system for only 4 grand.
Love this! Ironically most hi-fi showcase videos are only in ok quality, but this camera work really shows how amazing these systems can look. Keep it up!
The owner of this equipment is apparently about 50-60 years old. And at this age, each person's hearing sensitivity drops by 2-3 kilohertz!!! The frequency range that distinguishes the human ear at this age is about the same as what can be recorded on an ordinary compact cassette from the last century and played it on a cheap Sony Walkman cassette player !!! It is impossible not to agree with this. Arguing with the physiology of the human body is like arguing with your age and the limited time of your life! So... The owner of this expensive equipment perceives sound more visually (admiring his investment in super hi-fi-fetishes) and kinesthetically (stroking the mahogany lacquer of his acoustic systems with his fingers)!!! A million dollars... How many hungry and homeless people could be fed... Everything that he shows us here - he should not brag about it, but be ashamed of it!!! Ashamed of his greed and ashamed of his selfishness!!! In addition, each of the viewers of this video will agree that there are hungry and homeless people in the country of this rich man who built himself an audio crypt for a million dollars... Everything we see in this room is just expensive toys of a stupid child who has not grown up in his 50-60 years...
@@сергейиванов-ь7ч2ч I actually cannot hear well above 10 kHz and still don’t feel like I’m missing out on any details compared to my younger years. So to argue it’s not worth acoustically is misguided.
This audio system plus the background wall decor, all the different shapes combined make everything look like a Picasso painting
They're acoustic panels engineeted so "the room" doesn't color the sound. Ideally you want a true-to-life, flat sound signature.
Congrats to the successful gentleman who owns the system. Most importantly is that he enjoys it.
All that he needs the gentleman is a life and be happy with simple practical things
The design is so ugly not only the system but the room walls decorations very depressing
I could hear the purity and richness of the range and pitch of the volume
I don't ever want to own a system this insane, but I love listening to them.
After you figure in diminishing returns, it's probably slightly better than a 500,000 system. I go to hi fi shows like RMAF, and one major takeaway is that most very high end systems sound great, but quite similar. That revelation got me to stop worrying about small tweaks and just listen to my quality system and be content.
Speakers are usually the weak link, plus the room acoustics at shows.
I like the way you explain things. Not too over-the-top, no technobabble. Well spoken and informative 😌. You just got another subscriber. 🪔
Too bad she doesn’t make any more videos…this is great content. Someone should really sponsor her.
And almost one million views! perfect matching.
The owner is so generous to allow you recorded that private and precious system ...
Firstly, great presentation, thank you so much, and good to see a lovely young lady with intelligence, passion, aspiration AND humility; you were one of the highlights of the video.
I have to say that the video made me happy in an unexpected way... As you advised, I listened through some (in my opinion) excellent 20 year old MB Quart 95X headphones, then I did the same again through my B&W CDM1 SE speakers of a similar age, and I can see no reason why I would need to spend anywhere near $1m dollars (if I had it!) to enjoy listening to music. I wonder what "You And Your Friend" or "Telegraph Road" (Dire Straits), or "Midnight Blues" (Snowy White), or "Happiness Is Easy" (Mark Hollis / Talk Talk) might sound like via what is to me an incredible work of art, a showcase of just what we can actually achieve through 'imagineering', and with such beautiful form too (although I think my grandfather would have seen a 'space-ship' as opposed to an esoteric, high-end music delivery system! 😄)
If I had $1m to spend on a system like that, then maybe I would simply because I could, and I love music. I'm happy for the guy that has, but I'm even happier for myself now knowing that I'm not really missing-out on something that isn't realistically attainable to me, and there is tremendous value in knowing that alone. I would also hate to think that I would start listening critically to the equipment instead of enjoying the music, which I'm afraid is where I'm sure it would all end up for me, and that would be such a loss. No, I am now at peace with my system - thank you (although I'm sure that B&W ASW610 sub-woofer wouldn't go amiss...), so again, thank you for a great presentation, it has been both enlightening, and a pleasure to view! 🙂👍🙏
Literally no one asked
My ears are so blown out from concerts in the 70s that a 500 dollar system would sound the same to me, LOL
Well then that's the sounds of you saving money lol
Love the perspective: separate yourself from the financial aspect and embrace the sonic horizon
A million dollars spent on audio equipment and $5 on bed, bath & beyond dish towels for isolation. Chef's kiss.
Awesome video! Thank you for taking the time to do the research on this system.
Aside from this magnificent audio system, I'm very happy and pleased to see that for test reasons a piece (the first one) of a great musician (and landsman of mine), Starvos Lantsias, was chosen.
Lovely looking system that has had a lot of time and effort put into it. Of course you can't really judge what it sounds like but it's great to see people spending this kind of money on their passion. I don't think there's anything wrong with spending $1M on a system, pat on the back from me.
I enjoyed your interview with Steve Guttenberg so I decided to check out your channel.
This was an interesting post. I'm always curious to see how other people approach a problem. I'm an engineer and a music lover. The only sound systems I enjoy are the ones invented and built by myself for myself. My best sound system will never change. It sounds exactly the way I want it to. It was not expensive by audiophile standards but there's nothing I'd trade it for.
I appreciate the owner allowing you the opportunity to experience and make a video of his sound system. Based on what I posted above and this is not meant as any disrespect to the owner but as you can probably surmise I didn't like anything about it or his music. To each his or her own. So the only way I can have anything that pleases me is to design and build it by myself for myself. My own approach to problem solving is my unique way of thinking about things.
So hard that you’re not making videos anymore. I hope you’ve found health and peace. The racists & the trolls shouldn’t detract from your excellence and truth. Thank you for everything
Me, playing this on a $10 speaker. "Oh yeah I can really hear the depth and clarity, especially over this compressed youtube clip".
Simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I would love to do this, music is essential to LIFE! to have the opportunity to enjoy sound this way is absolutely a Blessing and Gift!!!!
Look at how many switches he fucking flipped to just turn it on, imagine interstellar on blast in there. Stereos like that move you to tears when you hear the music.
Your awesome!!! I just subscribed!! 100% support!!!!! From Brooklyn
I absolutely love this! Unfortunately the real downside to this is that RUclips compresses the audio your not gonna get hifi sound or master audio quality out of RUclips sorry ladies n gents.
Well I bought kef 107.2 speakers 30 years ago and a krell 150 watt integrated amp..still have it..paid 8000
Gives everyone goosebumps to this day and probably is at least 90% as impressive sonically as this system....I saved 992,000 dollars..yayy
You showcase the components,beautifully.Nice video.😍
My next system will be made from Unobtanium, Adamantium, Vibranium and Neutronium. It will be unstoppable! (Sorry, being silly.) In all seriousness, I would love to experience this system in person. Thanks for sharing!
A masterpiece of engineering.
I appreciate the work that went into the production of this video. My contention with this type of system is not so much it's price tag, but it's application. The human ear can only hear so much, so I'm not sure the extras here are really making a difference from a system, say $995,000 cheaper. While vinyl records are nostalgic, it doesn't make sense to play one on this system, as it would seem to pick up the imperfections of the medium, as friction is involved in playing a record.
As for the application, I could see more (yet not entirely) this used for a theatre room of some size, but to have a sofa sitting right in front of a massive system like this, again doesn't make a lot of sense. What does one do? Just sit there? Having a conversation would seem sacrilege while a system like this is playing. I suppose it's difficult for me to imagine myself just sitting and listening to music for any length of time, but apparently the client does, or either he just didn't know what to do with that $ million.
Anyone can easily say what they would do alternatively with $1 million, but instead I would say if I wanted to listen to music as it is played, I'd either go to the symphony or concert in person, or hire them to come to my home and play for me live. That would seem to satisfy both the sound situation and save lots of money as well. A side advantage is I would have a massive autograph collection wall to replace that hideous 1970s looking decor in that room. It looks like something "This Old House" would put together in about a day and a half. It's something I would imagine hidden in a projection room and that wall looks like a shingled roof on a wood shack. But, you know what they say about beauty....
Great video, but to play what this system does is a moot point if you don't have a system to replicate it. Those who are just looking/listening on a computer, phone, or TV (like I do) can't possibly tell what this system sounds like, because it only sounds like what our own system is capable of playing for us. So, the sound of this system is only as good as the one you're hearing it on and unfortunately unlike visual art you see with your eyes, you cannot communicate sound with words by describing it.
If I could , I would no doubt. Thank you for bringing this to light. Although I think I would stay with the digital hi fidelity. I have faith in modern digital processors.
The only thing more amazing is the professionalism of your video
Aries Cerat - with his “24 month” style “pregnant” gut - is a heartbeat away from losing his life and this system!
He is saving up to buy his first record next year.
More videos like this please!!!
That room is the stuff I dream about

anybody who can through acoustic treatment technicalities with "big ass bass trap" has my subscription.
I like the selection of music more than the equipment. If you are looking for the best dynamics - vinyl records is not it. CDs are better and have a lower noise floor. 24 Bit FLAC has a sound range, dynamic range and lowest sound floor of any current media. It is actually more than anyone actually needs because it goes beyond human hearing. The conversion of grooves in a record going through tube amps - however - IS a magical experience. What I am getting at is that it is not always the specifications of a particular piece of audio equipment or its price that matters most - but the musical experience that results. As was said, this is a setup where money was no object. And tubes add rich even harmonics that sound pleasant to the ears.
yeah, the more expensive the system, the more pink unicorns come out of the speakers
it is the design / art
A fool and his money are soon departed. Please note, most professional musicians would be quite thrilled to play live for much less money.
i'd rather listen to her than the one million dollar hi-fi system featured here...
You got that right! She sounds like $1 Million to me.
To shoot this audio system you need at least 100.000$ mic.
To enjoy the music you need to have taste. For some ppl is enough to have 200$ stereo system and be able to hear it. For others 1M system and they can't hear it. They enjoy having the system.

Listing to a million dollar system on my $20 computer speakers, brilliant.
I know I will sound different, but I can't help falling in love with a piece of Beautiful music played on 30 years old radio rather than cacophony played on $1000000 unnecessarily complicated amplifiers.

i know what a silly comment he made saying for such a poor result but there was no way it can translate through compression of youtube let alone the system that we have listen to it on that's not even going into room design it just goes on and on@@zexedearth89
I don't know if it's the recording or the room but I'm hearing some major resonances that just shouldn't be there in a system that costs a million bucks. I'd be willing to place a wager that it wouldn't be hard to find a $100k system that sounds better and a $25k system that gets you 95 percent of the way there.
Couldn't agree more (see my comment under "OverkilledUnderdog")
I too thought it had some very unpleasant “barky” resonances in the midrange. I would be very disappointed if I’d spent that money and it sounded like what I heard here.
Chris Kochesky - well, you can hope! But have you thought that perhaps the defects you have heard are due to the way the sound was recorded?
Many people use the excuse that you can't get the full impression unless you were are in person. Well, I just listened to an open-air recording of a system that probably costs, I'd estimate 3 to $5,000 right here on RUclips. And I believe the guy was recording off of his phone it sounded 100 times better... So...hmmm..
Sorry this is so old and I'm replying anyway, but I was feeling like this sounded awful while listening, like it was an accurate recreation of the instruments, but it was playing in the next room. Ignoring the quality of the binaural recording setup, because I don't have personal experience with it, the microphones were placed over 20 feet away from the speakers. There is no system that sounds like $1M, but I'd be willing to be this one sounds much better than the current representation if you were sat in the proper sweet spot, let alone being there in person. But ya regardless of how good this sounds, $100k can get you the exact same sound. The technology in the tonearm on that turntable is super cool, though.
Nah, I think it needs more cowbell.
Yassssssss!!!!!!!!
Absofreakinlutely! LOL!
For suuuure 😅
Morrrrree
😂😂😂
After having this system for a year I would be ready to upgrade to the 1.2 million system.
I’ve installed a similar system into my garden shed, so I can listen to music as I lick my tomatoes 👍🏻
SADDLY the only way to really listen to that system is only owning one...
Or know someone who does.
😂😂😂
Im sure is a really dumb idea to sell in that range price. I mean, is impossible this has a different quality in a house room than another really good audio system from 50.000 dollars. Also because the room is made for it to sound better. The only reason you will buy this particular audio is because only you have the money to brag about it. Do not have any sense to me...
Or renting a van and stopping by his house
@@lok777 i agree with you! Ja ja
Everyone that has some background in professional sound knows that those kind of systems are just snake oil. You can get objectively the same or even better sound at a fraction of the budget. Yeah, good sound costs money, but not this kind of money. Also keep in mind that the sound being reproduced cannot be better than what went into the recording. Also, the sound being reproduced is highly dependent on the room you're listening in. No recording studio will ever spend equal amounts on their equipment, because they're usually professionals and they know what gets the job done and what's just audiophile snake oil.
yep "audiophiles" make everything worse and just allow horrible audio products to be made. This causes the audio industry to make literally 0 progress or advancements

Jana,
Just listened to your interview today on the Audiophiliac. Very upset to hear that the reason you took an extended pause from Ear Space were the hateful comments posted by trolls.
Why not take a page from John Darko and either turn off the comments, or hire a moderator to pull the hate and racists posts out.
I tried to listen to a million dollar system with $10.00 headphones of coarse it's not going to sound good. I bet it sounds awesome in real life.
yes, exactly like any other that cost 20% of that price. People always forget that our ears are not prepared for a big range of sounds. I dont want to sound stupid but im a musician and i have constructed sound systems also before. Dont misunderstand my words please, i know it sound amazing but for me that price is only stupid!!!! Jana we need you, please make another video.
After seeing the speakers and wild looking horns, all I can say is that's nuts!
I disagree - the drivers look like fostex sigma which are made using the banana plant - so in fact they are not 'nuts' but 'bananas' ;-) (taken from my longer comment)
I like listening to quality music and also had build speakers before. But I never heard any system that mirrors live music. It might be close to live music but not the same. And as people look for and design speakers with the available technology we have, sometimes the quest leads to very expensive systems that do not sound much different from less expensive systems. Speaker principles are still the same compared to many years ago. We need more innovation in music reproduction to hear a difference. And of course how we perceive a good system is also very subjective. So basically how much you can afford does not mean that it is the best.
I'm surprised a one million dollar system would have a simple back loaded horn for bass? I wonder how these would sound with more difficult tracks that have a lot more going on like a full orchestra or something. Sounded great for the sparse small ensemble pieces. Anyway, I admire the passion of someone building a system like this. Keep up the videos.
Hi @earspace! Thanks so much for using my song in this video I have had many people come from this video & it's been a lovely & encouraging surprise! I have more music coming if you're interested in more :) Thanks again!

I tried so hard to appreciate this system for what it was. Certainly a work of art... But like with most art I just couldn't get over the pretension. I was fixated on the snake oil which so obviously surrounds every 'effort' in that room... The manufacturers saw this gentleman coming and skillfully played into his obsession in order to secure inordinate amounts of profit... Truth be told, a properly set up $5,000 system can probably sound just as transparent.
You've obviously never heard the difference that 100k speaker wire coated in unicorn plasma can have on sound quality... 😉
As a sound engineer I completely concur.
The diminishing returns on systems this expensive are pointless. You might as well piss most of this money up the wall for all it's actually worth.
I'm glad someone like you came to give that input, I've always been baffled at the goal post always being moved up in the audio world. Are there any sources you can point to thst would display proper budget audio set ups and such?
What system would match at 5k?
Diminishing returns are real, doesn’t mean it’s not worth any money beyond 5 grand.
As usual, you've made a great presentation of the owners listening room and all in there....Bravo!!!
Well...the wall treatment looks like a very efficient diffusor not an absorber. Unless it has some kind of hidden treatment behind the pannels. Still, would love to hear the system
Jana, thank you for this! Good work. Again, simply love the sumptuous aesthetic, just a pleasure to view.
Admittedly the exotic gear in this vid adds to the allure, but your skillfull touch transforms and presents wonderfully.
I'm convinced the "Jana Filter" could easily transform the ubiquitous "white van tower speakers", and present them on equal footing up against Wilson's $600k Master Chronosonic whatevers!
THIS is your lane. As mentioned, be it modestly priced high value gear, lavish systems of the highest caliber, or anything in between, your approach is refreshing, your content is solid.
Best of luck moving forward!
"Limited Edition". I'll wager everything they make is Limited Edition
Hey Don - Limited edition means = overpriced item, painted gold with gold inserts for wich a dumb rich fuck will pay anything to say he has the one of 5. And in 5 years the technology will evolve to a point that his system or item is obsolite.
For 1 Milion dollars you can have the ACTUAL band/s singers play only for you so many times so that the actual experience would be more gratifying that this heap of metal wood and plastic will never accoplish.

@@1sotheary alot of women day to day don't care about home theater/audio. It's a generalization but there isn't anything strange about it.
This disparity is largely shown in the RUclips audio community as well, with it being mostly men. The only channel I have seen consistently give advice is Andrew Robinson and his wife that gives a woman's perspective. Frankly it stinks, I think men and women can perceive sound differently, so I'd love to get more input.

More relevant, I agree the video is nicely produced - very impressive. I suspect, however, that an ultra low noise floor can only go so far in improving the listening experience. (It may be better to get a Sonic Maximizer, which brings bass and treble closer together by using a tiny delay. It sharpens up the image greatly, though it can sound harsh.) We can't really hear background noise when the music is above a murmur. Also - that enormous horn for a 4" speaker?
I wonder how a band like Slayer would sound on this system ?
Awesome.
not too good if audio quality is not sufficient. You'll need a very well mastered song for this.
Like a million bucks?
Haunting the chapel will still sound like a Tascam 4 track.
@@ardbeg4mercy247 as always....
I'd rather pay 1/100th of the price for a better looking sound system.
Imagine listening to 'Everywhere At The End of Time' on this setup
That some really expensive Alzheimers
I really enjoy and appreciate these kinds of video where they show "Dream house"or "Dream car" that are so astronomical in prices that I know I will never be able to afford one. It's just interesting to see what people would do if money were not an issue. That being said this system sound is not my cup of tea. I am a audio enthusiast and listen to a lot of RUclips video to get an idea of the many sound system out there.
Great job on all your video so far you're like a breath of fresh air compare to all that are out there.
How do you know how the system sounds? The video gives you an idea but you can't evaluate with any accuracy without hearing and experiencing it in person.
@@Assimilator702 needs to prove something. Have a good life Joe.
@@arun2995 You tell me what I need to prove? I'm telling you to not be be unrealistically critical. Don't put it on me when you're the one with a shitty attitude.
Just building this is a master peice. The best of everything and the owner got a work of art. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful!
I guess it's his money to spend or waste. As long as he's happy
I am guessing it was partly yours and mine because he wrote it off his taxes.
Does anyone know why she doesn’t post anymore?
Wow, I cant believe I see a young girl even more insane about audio than me, you are my sister girl!
Does it really sound all that good though? 13:00 not really from what I hear. Build quality and fit and finish is a whole different thing though.
I made a RUclips account JUST so I could comment on this video. This is truly a top quality video paired with top quality sound! I understand that binaural will never be the same as being in the listening room, but I really thought that this video sounded excellent. You've come up with a genius way of demonstrating systems and all their intricate audiophile-specific details in the most interesting, enjoyable way possible. This is the best audiophile channel I've found on RUclips so far. You should be really proud of yourself. I look forward to the next one and hope to be able to afford a system like this one day! Thank you!
I'm still paying-off the headphones she sold me 🤣
"'Binaural".... LOL. There's no listening device that will get you in this room. IN FACT you're better off listening to a lossless file of the same material, it will sound better than this video. It just can't translate. Cool to see the setup though. (they have to use a mic to capture this, and then you're running it through your own system, which completely negates the speakers/amps they're trying to show off, amongst other reasons).
The video is shot and edited very professionally. Can't say same thing about audio recording - it seems that the sound is unbalanced to the right and, definitely, there is clipping in some parts (like at 11:33 - vocals).
@@urwholefamilydied Imo a good binaural recording can capture to some extent a hi fi system like this to perhaps 80-90%. It depends alot on the mics and recorder being used. The unique way of recording like this is that you get to experience the position of the speakers and the acoustics of the room. Once the sound gets compressed and you listen through headphones a lot of the hi fi gets lost. So listening through an uncompressed file is best. Listening through HQ studio headphone monitors will give the best representation of what was recorded. Having that said this recording needs some improvements. Recording in HD is another technical field in of itself.
@@urwholefamilydied I guess the same is true of the original master. Playback negates the rig the mastering engineer used and the way he "intended you to hear it" lol. The inaccuracies begin at the microphone used during the original recording. "Accurate" is a farce.
Alfred works very well. Consider testing home recording reference monitors, like those Adams on your desk?
I only spent $8800 on my system, but it sounds like a million bucks to me!
@M G My system is a Sony HAPZ1ES media player with all ALAC formatted music piped through an ifi Micro iTube 2 in buffer set up, feeding it's signals to a Vincent SV 237MK hybrid integrated amp. Speakers are bi wired Klipsch Cornwall lll's with Kord Koncepts 10 guage on the LF and 16 Guage on the HF. Interconnects are Pangea Audio Premier SE's. I have reached my "audio nirvana" with this setup and have no desire to experiment further, other than maybe some tube rolling on the Vincent. I am currently running with the stock 6N1PEV tubes and have replaced the stock 12AX7 with a Gold Lion Premium tube.
Vintage pioneer integrated amps rule.
@@davidperry4013 Love both them and vintage Marantz. HiFi was pretty back in the good old days!
Yea my end game speakers are some klh model 5s and some nice tube amps
