I bought a $300 Yamaha receiver from Best Buy last week. It sounds great.
It would, I have some Yamaha from the 80s, still great.
So long as it sounds good to you, that's all that matters.
@@chuckmaddison2924 I’ve got a 1979 Yamaha Cr440 still kicking
Man, me too. Speakers are the main equipment in audio system. Not amplifier and dac. Off course if you are not an audiophile)
Clueless on the incredible sound high end amps and speakers actually create! Those Bowers and Wilkins 801's are $50K each! Let me guess you spent $100 on speakers and they sound great too? LMFAO
I am in love with each piece of your equipment. I wish you many, many years of enjoyment.
Thank you very much!
I am a proud owner of National Tape recorder, made in japan for the last 35 years and still works great.
Hope your basement is water proofed. Awesome system!
Really nice system👍 all the best!
Thank you! 👍
Congratulations on your system. My wife watches your videos. I'm the audiophile, however, which I assume is why your video came across my RUclips feed, but I recognized who you were from hearing her talk about your other videos.
Cool! What setup do you have?
@@PanTheOrganizer Audio Research Reference 10 preamp and Reference 160S amp; Wilson Audio Alexia V speakers; dCS Vivaldi Stack: Apex DAC, Upsampler, Master Clock; Kubala-Sosna Realization speaker cables, XLR interconnects, power cables, AES/EBU cables; Kubala-Sosna Elation! S/PDIF cables; Innuos Phoenix Net network switch; Transparent Audio ethernet cables; Torus Power AVR20 isolation transformer.
This is an end game system, period. Now I want to see the home theater too.
Thanks! I am working on the production of the home theater tour, so stay tuned for that, likely sometime in October.
Man, that is an incredible (awesome) audiophile system. WOW!
Suddenly my 30k (£) HiFi looks like a budget setup - though it sounds amazing.
You've fired up my audiophile bug again😮 😂
First my Cars, now my HiFi 😅
Please dont tell me you have a recording studio too? I'm not watching if you do 😂
Fantastic 👍
Hehe thanks!! Yeah my previous setup was around 35K CAD and that was an amazing one, but now the new one just obliterated the old one to oblivion haha. I go back and listen to my favourite albums just to hear them as I have never heard them before. I love music!
The only thing I would have done differently is to not have the components between the speakers as it muddles the sound stage. Naturally, you have dedicated 20 amp circuits and superior power conditioning a must as it can eliminate the noise from the domestic power supply. Macintosh makes some great stuff, easy to have serviced when that time comes. For me, it has become a bit of a "lifestyle" brand but still excellent. A dedicated listening room is a must. We did that when we gut remodeled a house, removed the home theater and is dedicated to two channel analog and digital sources. We choose not to have television in our home.
I let the installers do their things and position the setup and calibrate it. They know their stuff. They did the best with the space they had (as I also have a high end custom home theater setup right next to it). The room was planned for the Home Theater, so the HiFi is a little bonus hehe.
Here my new custom home theater setup by the way: ruclips.net/video/V7RTe_Jqx8E/видео.htmlsi=XvEO2r6ULr_tZU2b
Great components Pan,didn’t know you were also an audiophile 🤔😎
Thanks! I have featured many of my setups in the past, and have mentioned that I love music and quality gear in a few vlogs. ;)
This is a beautiful system! I would make a setup suggestion though, if you can, try moving the speakers farther from the wall and/or split or relocate some of the electronics to lower the stack. The air space directly between the speakers is very important for the center image to form properly. It doesn't seem like it should make a difference, but it really does matter!
I can’t move the speakers any further as I’m limited in the space. I have a massive home theater to the right.
But it doesn’t matter, believe me, the HiFi setup sounds soooooo good it’s mind boggling. All my audiophile friends have their jaws drop when they listen to it. Not once have they complained about speaker placement and they are usually very picky with their sound.
@@PanTheOrganizer Awesome! I didn't think it would be bad by any stretch. I've gotten to the point where I notice when I have extra equipment piled too high on the floor. My primary system sits a bit back and low. Two low stacks instead of one tall stack. But I'm not running huge mono-blocks either.
I built my two channel system around the TV, which is sub optimal, but I live in an apartment. The TV is jammed against the wall and the fronts of the speakers are 2.5-3 feet from the wall. The air space in between them is pretty much clear.
Yeah positioning of speakers is crucial. And so is treatment of the room. People often think equipment alone is the only important thing. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Oh Pan, please Sir indulge us the sound of Verna Sanzone “Surely” on your amazing system of a lifetime. Great job Sir. Hard work pays off!! Thank you for sharing with this beauty with us! Inspiring. Those 1.25 KW’s are the absolute Pinnacle! I feel like you could run a few Tesla Semi trucks on them.
Thanks Jeff!
I have a Dual 1219 turntable a Kenwood integrated receiver and a pair of giant headphones. 🤘🤟
Fantastic! Congratulations!
Could you list the components and model numbers in the comments?
I am running Focal Utopia Evos power by an Accuphase setup. One day I would love to hear the difference something along the lines of your setup makes. Next time I am in London I will request a demo! Congratulations again
Thanks! I listed the equipment in the description under the video.
Do the city street lights flicker when you switch that on.
😂 The entire town goes dark.
I run CXN V2 (with Qobuz) and CXC in my system, both are xcellent performers, that Auralic looks awesome though!
Yeah I had a CXN in my previous setup. Great machine for the price. But the Auralic is over seven times the price and is on a completely different level. So a comparison would be unfair.
What other components are you running?
@@PanTheOrganizer Krell KST 100, Martin Logan Quest, PSAudio gain cell, old stuff but great sound is what matters!
Cool setup dude!! And yes, as long as a setup sounds good to you, that's all that matters! :)
Wow, you must be like that Memorex dude!
Who the heck is the “Memorex” dude? 😂
Nice rabbit hole
Don't try this at home.
WARNING!
Have no fear; that is impossible.
@@ethorii Okay...now I drink my coffee.
Aunty police bulalegi😅
Dont worry. I couldn't afford to try this at home. 😂
I've to say you maybe are one of the very few who has made a statement that is so true, the system sounds good and is great if you like it and no two tastes are alike. I have purchased systems beginning in 1974 and I have to say what you've said is so true and if someone tries to tell you differently don't let them. Audio equipment should be what you like and nothing else no matter what anyone else says!
Well said. 👍🏻
Wow, so impressive. When you get into something you don’t mess around, do you? This is very apparent with the detailing tools and products you use, to your garage setup, to your choice of car, and now your choice of stereo. Kudos to you. What you hear on your stereo is probably what one hears sitting in the recording studio with the band and musicians sorting across from them. Really cool! More power to you and wishing you continuing success so you could enjoy the best things money can buy. 👍
Thank you very much! Hard work pays off.
I couldn’t think of a nicer guy to have all of this beautiful audio equipment. Congratulations Pan, enjoy mate, I know you’ve worked so hard for it. 👍🏻
Thank you kindly!
How do you know how hard he worked for it? The richest people in the world do not work at all, and tbh those hands look soft lol.
@@serithin4703 The rich work smart, not what most people would call "hard".
@@dandiehm8414 The rich don't (work) at all
this dude has too much money...
My goodness this does look incredible. This is the epitome of what hard work can build. Few of us will never even experience the sound, let alone have this for our own. Congratulations Pan.
Thanks John!
Honestly, just find a Funktion-One, Danley, or HSD sound system closest to you.. The experience will be far superior and you'll pay wayyyy less lol
You can get a decent sound on a cheaper setup. If you can afford this setup go for it. Otherwise there are really good stereoamps, cd players and speakers for less money that will give you a really good sound quality. My setup is as follows: ML classic ESL 9 electrostatic speakers, accuphase dp 450 cd player and BMC C1 integrated stereoamp
I second the guy below me, just find an electronic music event with a Funktion-One, Void, or L-Acoustics sound system to experience ultimate sonic bliss.
Absolutely looks like I’d have to sell my car for that cable alone😊
well you have a interesting system I have been a audio file over 50+ years Krell & Mark Levlsn etc said I don't see a TurnTable ? your missing out on that & for the life of me with those GREAT speakers who made you believe you need those subs sorry to say you really do not and for $$$ spent If I did want a sub its not going to REL & as you have learned the speaker placement & room treat ment is the magic I wish you much joy in your listing BTW your auto detailing I give you much respect
Wow. I have always dreamed of having McIntosh equipment. I used to work at an electronics store where i got my Rotel and Paradigm system. Nothing even close to that though. I bet your system sounds absolutely amazing in person. Amazing!
Thanks! Yeah people who come over and listen to it usually qualify it as “breathtaking”. It’s like a private concert with the artist in front of you.
Well done sir! I’m a professional audio engineer, have published music for over 23 years and I master and work with musicians to shine on these types of systems. I’ve be running B&W Nautilus for over 20 years. My 805s are still in my A/B mastering chain. You did it right my friend. I’d love to see a nice turntable in your setup.
Thanks!
Wow I had no idea you were into audio. I’ve been watching your car reviews since last year but have been into audio since forever. You would definitely qualify as an audiophile.
Glad to know we share similar interests! :)
Hehe thanks! Yeah I have shared many of my passions on my channel in past videos through the seven years since I started on RUclips. I have a passion for music, HiFi setups, movies, home theaters, computers, sneaker collections, luxury watch collections, and cars. All the guy "sicknesses" as I call them haha.
This is probably my 7th or 8th HiFi setup at this point in my life. Every time I promise myself this is my "end game" setup, it never is. There's always something new, or when you save up more for your budget, you can access an entirely new bracket of components. I love listening to music, so having a high fidelity setup allowing me to indulge in that passion is so much fun.
What HiFi setup do yo own?
Same here! I used to work in a higher end audio store!
@@PanTheOrganizer I used to own a pair of Devialet Phantom Reactor 900’s for my music, but then swapped them our for a pair of Gold Phantoms. You could argue that they don’t deliver the performance for price, and I myself would not consider them to be audiophile grade, but man I have never since heard such low end performance from such small cabinets.
I then swapped them out for a pair of LS60 wireless floorstanding last year and have had these since. I usually stick to all in one active units as I don’t have the luxury to experiment with external amps or dacs, however I have many a headphones and use balanced Drop+Grace dac with balanced thx AAA 789 amp to power them.
Music is certainly a passion and people become very confused as to how we can “waste” money on audio equipment. But you can’t put a price on passions, because it’s what we live for.
Keep it up Pan. You inspire us all!
Yeah I know Devialet products quite well, I myself have a limited edition sage green version of the new Phantom II, and for its size (it's in my living room), people are always blown away by the power and sound quality that comes out of there, and super low distortion even at crazy loud volumes. It's a great party trick haha.
I also had some LS50 wireless speakers (which I reviewed in this video: ruclips.net/video/sjdP8XYiDSY/видео.html) and those two were great. UniQ technology baby!
And I fully agree with you, nobody should argue when it comes to passions. Let people enjoy what they worked hard to achieve and purchase. I think usually, those who say it's a waste of money simply don't have the money to afford high quality setups, so they have to belittle others to make themselves feel better about not owning a great setup. I can assure you that if they won the lottery or had a higher paying job, they would jump on the chance to own a great sound system!! ;)
😂Really what gave it away ..the 100k + system.🤔😁
Good morning very nice, way way out of my price , I did notice at 12-22 there was like a power clip, I have play it back 4-5 times, not what I would expect, I am listening to this. I My very large transmission line loudspeaker cabinets. That I built approximately 40 odd years ago., just recently replaced the drivers with, SEAS 150w driver’s, NAD , I HAVE A VERY LARGE ATTIC, Approximately 7 1/2 m wide and nearly 12 m in length, 6 m to the pitch of the Roof, I think this is OTT, I am thinking of building a room in there at some point,
Great review on your McIntosh equipment , Retired English gentlemen living in France,
That is an incredible system you've put together, nicely done and thank you for sharing. Enjoy your gear!!
Thanks for watching
From detailing Porsche to listening to a full McIntosh rack, you are amazing Pan! Thank you for sharing all your passions with us!
Glad you enjoyed it! Do you also have a HiFi setup ?
@@PanTheOrganizer Yes Pan I do! My system consists of the following: I switch between the SONY DA5500ES Receiver & my Pioneer vintage 1050 Receiver, Vandersteen 2Ce Signature III Speakers, the Thorens TD 295 MKIII Turntable, the Sony - UBP-X800M2 Blu-Ray/SACD Player and the Pioneer Elite PDR-W739 CD-R Recorder all connected with Monster cables.
Sweet!! Who are your favourite artists to listen to?
@@PanTheOrganizer Right now Pan, I'm listening to various live shows of Genesis from 1977 - 1981, Hammock, Ulver, Hidden Empire, Buckethead and Jean-Luc Ponty.
👍🏻
Congratulations on putting together this sublime audio system. You did a huge service mentioning that people should go with what sounds best to them. I was lucky enough to do A/B testing with power cables about a month after I'd lived with my system and the differences from the factory-supplied cable were jaw-dropping. Highly recommended upgrade.
Thanks!
what i want to know is if you can hook your computer up to the system in the video. digital optical port probably be some decent sound.
Placebo effect
@@XXPYR0XX I'm sure he can. That DAC had 11 inputs, he said. And the Digital Streamer also is hooked up over ethernet, so probably the computer audio can be played over the network.
That's so cool to be able to switch from tubes to solid state. I think I'd prefer the tubes to be a bit more highlighted like a regular tube amp. McIntosh is the top of the line. Can't go wrong there.
Thanks! And yeah in my case we used all tubes as that’s what sounded best to me.
Pan!! You are my "inspiration" 😊😊
Who is like you?
You amaze everyone from car detailing to being an audiophile 👍👍
Congrats and keep up the awesome content!
Thank you so much 😀 I’m always glad to hear I can help to inspire my viewers. Hard work can make you accomplish your dreams! And I wish the best to all my viewers.
Pan’s buying decision in reality: “finger prints challenge accepted.” 😂👏
Haha!!
Mac stuff is pretty easy to keep clean. Quick wipe periodically with a good microfiber is usually all that is needed. Vertical heat sinks on the amps are kind of crud catchers though. Compressed air works there.
Thanks for sharing Pan. I walked into an audio store with some high end equipment and got to listen to one of my favorite artist play a bass and I could hear finger slides on the strings that I never heard before. True audiophiles appreciate what you shared.
I agree. Some people think high quality audio gear is a waste of money. I think that is complete nonsense. Usually it's those who can't afford systems that say that, because if they actually are honest and get to listen to their favourite recordings on a proper system, it's impossible not to get moved by the music and hear things you wouldn't on a normal setup or your phone. I usually tell people to "be and let be". Be happy for others and if owning a system isn't for you, then that's ok too. :)
I have been a music lover for decades, and getting to enjoy my favourite music on a quality setup is really soothing to me.
@@PanTheOrganizer Pan, checkout the song Pearls by Sade. I can’t imagine how awesome it would sound on your system. The strings at the beginning are soul stirring and the purity of her voice is amazing. Enjoy!
First thing I'd play: The Beatles.
I have the "One" album with all their hits. I can't say it's an audiophile grade recording (like an SACD from Pink Floyd for example), but it's fun to listen to! :)
Hi Pan, love the video and love your attitude toward HiFi! So refreshing to watch your enthusiasm for your setup and repeatedly telling your viewers “this is what I like” and not trying to convince anyone this is the best system for everyone! I am sure you have many hours of enjoyment ahead of you! Congratulations on a beautiful system! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks John! I appreciate the positive feedback.
I agree with you 100%. In the HiFi world too often people try to convince others of things like “cables are snake oil” or “vinyl is the best, digital is crap” or “don’t get that brand it’s garbage” etc
They should just let people pick what works for them and let them enjoy their music the way they want to, which should be the main focus here: enjoying our passion for music.
You could have 100 people in the same room and not two people would have the same exact setup. People have different tastes and budgets. There is no “one system bests them all” type answer. Buy what makes you happy and what makes you tap your feet. :)
What setup do you currently have?
One of the happiest man alive😎😎 He looks so happy around his equipment...
I really am! hehe. It's a wonderful setup to allow me to indulge in my passion for music.
Thank you for emphasising how subjective listening to music is and the difference isn't always about (the most expensive) equipment. If whatever you use enhances your personal listening enjoyment then that's what's right for you. The fun comes from experimenting.
Correct.
Your thought process of course is second to none, this system is insane and I hope you enjoy!
Just from the demo at the end, I like this system a lot. The sound is crisp, I like listening to each component of the beat and this makes it easy. I can't imagine it in person! You've outdone yourself sir!
Thanks!! And that sound clip was just a copyright free song (to make sure I don't get a copyright strike) so it's not even something well recorded or "audiophile grade" by any means. Putting a proper SACD or HiRes stream from a master audio file on there is simply audio bliss!
I listened to the demo on a very nice stereo and it didn't sound good. It totally loses it in the translation. But you have an ultimate dream set up that I would love to listen to and aspire to. I bet it sounds epic in the room. Well done!
You dont need a "power controller" , systems already remove "noise" from your electricity supply if there is any.
That's your opinion. Again, I beg to differ. But you don't see me arguing and trying to convince people of things... If you believe it does nothing, than good for you. You saved a bunch of money.
But just so we're clear on your background as an audiophile, what equipment and setup do you have?
Man’s livin the dream for all of us who can’t
Nice looking. I am 100% with you regarding the 801D4. However, all the rest could be replaced with a NAD C658 (which would provide Dirac room correction) and two Benchmark AHB2 amps in mono. I have 801D2 + Halcro DM88 + NAD C658, and the Dirac room correction is extremely impressive.
I agree, using B&W 802D3’s + Vintage Denon POA-4400 mono blocks + NAD C658. Works for me.
Absolutely crazy setup. Just insane! I currently have a Sonos 5.1, but I’ve been paying close attention the the Nakamichi Dragon
Thanks!
what a beautiful system you have there Pan, have you ever listen to PMC speakers?
Thanks! I never heard of that brand unfortunately.
@@PanTheOrganizer probably good that you haven’t lol best speakers I’ve ever heard and used in all recording studios all over the world check them out
Excellent choices Pan! But where is the turntable??? You gotta play some vinyl with that system!!!
No vinyl for me. I respect those who like it, but I prefer master recordings in SACD/DSD or high res streams from Qobuz and Tidal.
WOW! What a HUGE upgrade, Pan. I have heard such a setup here in the States, and it is excellent. One suggestion: pull the B&Ws out into the room, about 3 feet from the front wall. Your soundstage will get deep and holographic as well as wide. Enjoy!
Yeah I don’t have the place for putting them that far out unfortunately. The space was initially designed for my custom home theater, so that’s where all the thought process went.
I never thought I’d splurge on a stereo setup of this magnitude as well haha. I have issues. 😂
@@PanTheOrganizer I can totally relate. My tastes in cars, audio, and details are just like yours. Now, I just need to figure out how to build a side hustle like yours so I can finance my champagne tastes...
Hehe in my case though, it has nothing to do with a side hustle. It's a high paying job, my investments in the financial markets, and decades of hard work and making smart moves and investments that got me to this point in life. Nothing comes easily. I'm a strong believer of hard work and having goals to surpass. It pushes me to always reach for new heights.
@@PanTheOrganizer Yeah, I was on that path too, then got blindsided by divorce about 8 years ago, which sliced everything I had built in half. It's taken me this long to get clear of child support and start to get my feet back under me. So for me, it will take a side hustle in addition with my decent-paying job (in commercial AV technology) to get to your level, where I want to be. I was actually a financial advisor for 11 years back in the the 2000's. Thanks for being so kind to reply, Pan. I appreciate it.
I totally get where you're coming from. Not an easy situation to go through, so it's nice to see you kept moving forward and focused on rebuilding your life. I wish you all the best. Hard work pays off. The good guys win in the end. ;)
Now that is an amazing hifi system. Love the amps and b&w speakers. incredible!
Thanks!
Wow!! Awesome upgrade! You chose your components very well! It’s easy to imagine how Sweet this system must sound! When it comes to subwoofers, you can never go wrong with REL!
Thank you very much!
sweet system, grats, big w. personally i would have swapped the b&w 801s + rels for a pair of b&w nautilus and called it a day (no subs, they're just not necessary for a music setup, theater? yes! sweet spot music? neeee). the mac components (mcintosh) are fabulous. cables, i may have gone with kimber or audioquest, personal preference really. the irony is that you could have achieved similar (or superior) sound quality and performance out of s tier iems for a minute fraction of the cost. though the nautilus pair would be spectacular to gaze at. listening to them is so choice. pristine sound. (if you haven't demo'd the nautilus, i highly suggest a try. you may just drop the 801s for a pair.)
That's an amazing system. I've been in this hobby for over 40 yrs. When people ask me why I have so much power for my speakers, I say so they aren't driven into distortion. And when I demo and turn it up fairly loud, I get the, wow that's sounds amazing and it doesn't hurt my ears. Yeah, there isn't distortion fatiguing your ears. I have a clean 2.5K of power and two more 800 watt amps waiting to be integrating. It's a great hobby to be in.
Thanks Michael. Exactly. Headroom is important. And that extra power allows to hear all the details even at low volume.
This is probably up there with some of the best systems in the world's personally I have never heard the imaging and staging coming from such a high end system, but could only presume it would be sublime.
Thanks! Yes it’s truly breathtaking as all the people who have listened to it say. It blows my mind.
I love listening to music on it.
The 801's with a lot of power behind them are incredibly precise in the bass. Most systems are very mushy in the low frequencies. However you have have immense current availability because when the piston needs to move quickly the electromagnetic force needed means you have to deliver huge currents briefly, so although you only need a few watts to run them normally, you gotta have that giant reserve of power.
Most systems are "very mushy in the low frequencies" not because of the speakers whatsoever, but because of room acoustics.
Even basic room correction will take away narrow peakes in bass response from room modes, and after that's done you'll hear bass is not "mushy" at all anymore.
After learning how to do room correction, I have not once heard bass in an uncorrected stereo system that even comes close to mine, even in systems literally 20 times the price of mine.
Because most of these megabuck systems are owned by purists who never quite understand sound and audio
And you heard this all through your PC speakers?
I was fortunate enough to hear the 801's in San Rafael CA at a fancy home theater store that is probably long gone. Those 16 inch woofers, when powered by 1000 Watts with no fancy electronics are super tight, like being in a room next to the kick drum. The founder of Sony Akio Morita had special 3ft wide speakers put in his ceiling so that he could have the most faithful bass experience. The physics of air require either a very large piston, or a big electrostatic membrane kind to push a large area of air swiftly. Most subwoofers and bass reflex systems are incredibly mushy, as they trade accuracy for volume (that is way late time-wise).@@andrewleigh3
@@andrewleigh3 yes, I listened on my IPad through ear buds. The sound of the system, through my IPad, just didn’t sound that good at all and I couldn’t justify the price this system would cost based on this. Lol.
That HiFi costs more than my house.
The lights facing the speaker is a clever idea. What fitting is it. Is it battery operated
You have an amazing system.. But why on earth have two subs with those speakers?? They just do not need rhem. I'm in no way having a go but the whole thing strikes me as very odd. It's all new and there is nothing from past systems you have found and loved along the hifi journey. It's like a system that someone who wins the lottery would buy after walking into the dealership and buying the shops top system, not someone who has loved sound for decades. Very odd.I just don't understand. Anyway congratulations on getting the system and i hope you have many happy years listening to it.
In theory you’d think most speakers don’t need subs, but in practice once you try some high quality more “musical subs” designed for HiFi use, you can’t go back. REL has many videos explaining the benefits.
But at the end of the day, you have to make some A & B testing and make a choice that’s right for you. Sound quality is very subjective. I have yet to meet two people with the exact same setup. That speaks volumes.
Listening to a master recording SACD of Pink Floyd or Miles Davis on my setup makes me smile and tap my feet. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. Enjoy the music. My setup is just a means for me to indulge in my love of music.
Cool setup.
Let me get this straight...so the electrical and acoustic engineers who designed and built the equipment, costing tens of thousands of dollars, deliberately supplied the equipment with power cables that screw up the equipment's performance?
Can you please explain what "junk" is removed from an AC mains line? The power cables supplied with the equipment pass rigorous testing to ensure safety, did your aftermarket cables get the same rating?
Do your research. Any stock power cable supplied with components is cheap garbage. The components are well engineered. The issue isn’t there. It’s in the poor overseas sourced 5$ cables that they supply.
You've chosen very wisely sir. Im a big fan of B&W speakers and almost have a museum of different models! Keep those midrange drivers dry and be ultra careful of the fragile diamond tweeters. Any plans to get a turntable? SME model 60 ❤
Thanks, will do! No turntable in short term plans, I’m not a vinyl guy, but maybe one day for fun! 😁👍🏻
Wow this is the best set up ever the way I love music I will lock my self up in the room and listen to music all day..this is Really a Dream set up congratulations
Thank you!! I sometimes just go for 30 minutes of listening, and find myself just enjoying the music so much, 2 hours later, I'm still sitting there going through my favourite songs!
Merci PAN. Loved the video and the passion that you have about the system and relaying that to us.
I have watched a few of your videos and while watching this one, I went and subscribed, hopefully now you can go and buy those Sigma cables.
It must be surreal to actually hear those BW speakers in person. I live in Montreal if you ever have an open house :)
Thanks! Since the video I did upgrade the Alpha series speaker and power cables, which are already high end cables, to their even higher end Sigma series.
I also added the new flagship Kaleidescape Strato C 4K movie player and Terra Prime SSD movie server to my home theater setup. Uncompressed movies best video and sound quality. Makes my ultra high end Oppo 4K blu-ray player seem obsolete haha!
I thought my Rega cd, exposure Amp, monitor audio speakers, rel sub was bad ass 😂 congrats 🎉
Thanks! Many years ago, in a previous setup, I had a Rega Saturn cd player and Rega Elicit amplifier. It was a nice little kit!
How are the 1/4 wavelengths for the subs? Better to keep them together . God bless
Wow incredible, I’ve got taste similar to yours but not the budget..what did this setup run you “roughly?”
Excellent equipment…no doubt about it ? What is the price point on your system ? I have enjoyed my B&W Speakers for 20 years pretty awesome. The high stable power is a must. I selected mine at the store where the B&W were sold and tested 6 different amplifiers and or power and pre amp combinations. At the end I have enjoyed an analog system and totally satisfied with the quality in spades.
I use to demo those speakers with Krell components years ago. Most amazing speakers ever.
This system deserve a much better room ...
What system do you have?
Good video and I envy you congratulations! Back in 1979 through 1980 I work at Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida and we had a tri-amped McIntosh system with tubes .I was absolutely blown away back then and still am to this day. Once again congratulations and thanks for this informative and cool video.
Thanks Robert!
After all the talk then you play the worst music possible. What a let down.
I’m sure you could do better. When is a turntable coming? That’s when the that gear will really come alive. 🤞😎
1) My channel is too big at this point to even risk getting a copyright strike for playing quality music. So I just used a copyright free track for fun. It should be clear that judging a system's performance by playing a compressed RUclips video through your phone or computer wouldn't do the system (or any system) justice. I hope you can appreciate that. The track was just there for fun so people stop saying "well you didn't play any music!" which I find ridiculous.
2) Vinyl isn't for me. I respect those that like it, just like those who like vinyl should respect those who don't. I have had the opportunity to test vinyl on many high end setups, including a 2M setup featured on my channel, with a 350K Kronos turntable, and I still preferred quality digital from a DSD/SACD or high res stream from Qobuz or Tidal.
If I get a record player one day, it will be just for fun. But you vinyl guys need to stop trying to convince everyone that vinyl is the best. Just enjoy your music on what ever media you want and let others be.
I get it, vinyl does require a lot of fussing, attention to detail etc. much like guys into tube amplifiers that are always rolling tubes. That’s what makes the hobby so
fascinating, keep it simple or forever be playing with various pieces of gear.
I’ve had McIntosh gear in the past, sure holds it value. Enjoy 😎
Wow most impressive system, my dream speakers are the same you own. I have listened to alot of different brands and b&w are my absolute favorite. My sourround system is only b&w, absolut joy to listen to.
The McIntosh gear is gorgeous. Even if you didn't power up the system is amazing to look at. Excellent choice in rack too!
Thanks James!
Holy crap man Ive been watching your detailing videos for years and didn't know you were a HiFi guy!! Amazing setup!!!!
Thanks man! I’m also a crazy home theater nut! See my latest setup here: ruclips.net/video/V7RTe_Jqx8E/видео.htmlsi=GnGIY3o9jxjIuyNl
What HiFi gear do you have?
To play that kind of "music" on that system is simply blastevious (sic lol). Hunt down a mint or better yet sealed vinyl Ludwig copy if it exists of Led Zep 2 or an original Decca Stones Let It Bleed or for super bass response Second Winter (1969) or Yer Album by the James Gang (also 69) for great examples of great sounding rock music, yeah 69 was a wonderful year and pure analogue vinyl. I have old vintage Sansui AU 9500 amp as well as Marantz 4400 receiver, Pioneer HPM 100 speakers which suffice for me, Wonderful system you have and just a tip, you can save some money on heat by shutting down the furnace this winter, no need for it anymore (lol).
My channel is too big to risk getting a copyright strike by playing popular music. This was just a copyright free track for fun.
As I said in the video, you can’t judge a system’s performance by playing a compressed RUclips video through your mobile device or computer anyways. I hope you can appreciate that.
I could tell the sound was sublime, just wondering how good proper music would sound, I don't even know where I could find McIntosh products anymore, there was a place in nearby Burlington Ontario but think it closed down. Younger people today don't care about hi fi or good sound quality or gear or good music, really sad.@@PanTheOrganizer
I think the HiFi is coming back to life again, at least with people in my community and circle of family and friends. When a person hears a well recorded album on a system of this magnitude, it gets them excited about music again, and they want to buy their own system according to their budget.
Anyone who truly enjoys music doesn't know what they're missing if they're only listening compressed MP3 through a cheap bluetooth speaker...
When I was young I had excellent hearing and no money to afford a high-end system; now I have the money but no hearing to afford it. Damn. Maybe in the next life!
Wow. Really impressed with the set up and in particular the very clear way you explained how this system works. How many people per month would you have to kill to afford a system such as that? Only joking but best wishes to enjoy that beautiful system. The speakers are incredible I am sure, but they look a bit robotic to me. This is just a personal thing of course. A question you may not be able to answer: if you had gone for a more conventional look for the speakers what would you have chosen? Mind you, I believe in function over form - what it does is more important to how it looks, so I am guessing you reckoned this was the best for your ear.
I have a tiny Vizio Soundbar and it sounds like im at the movies
Well might as well go for the Whole SHEBANG as you are to the point of no return!!! I like your tight system til you get to the extra powered subwoofers...OVERKILL...cause are those powered sub sound better than the B&W
I'm building DIY inspired speakers based on the B&W 802 D4s because I'm poor. But I do have a 3D printer and big brain. Fully active DSP crossover so I don't have to build passive 3 way crossovers.
How much, what's the cost of this entire system?............ I guess I need to read below huh? wow...... Let me pray, oh Lord please give me the the $$$$$ to purchase such a wonderful system....... I did buy a McIntosh Pre amp with a Yamaha Receiver Connected to it.
Holy smokes man you have great taste!
B&W, REL, McIntosh! You aren't playing around ❤
I appreciate that! Thanks
Aprox max db? I’m a touring drummer, and use L’ acoustic k -,k-2,and rat (eaw) micro wedges. It’s aprox 142 at my drum kit and foh at desk is 118, which is brutally loud in the first 10 rows.
❤❤❤❤ that is so beautiful. Awesome set up. I've never seen anything like that. Just absolutely beautiful. Nice touch.
Thanks Graham! What setup do you have?
@@PanTheOrganizer I have a b&o 5500 from 1987
If I may play devil's advocate, does it not occur to you that your abundance of electronics and their cabling have an adverse effect on the original signal?
Holy smokes Pan, absolutely amazing. Your passion is truly infectious and inspiring. ✌️With respect I always imagined you being a vinyl man 😂👍🏼
Thanks Carlos! 👍🏻
HI! I couldnt see it properly... Do you use bi amping for your speakers?
Awesome setup surprise no Turntable in package all digital sources what a waste
Please be respectful to people’s tastes. I personally am not a fan of vinyl. And you don’t see me knocking you down because you like vinyl.
Last time I checked, we live in a free country where people are free to make their own choices based on their tastes and what sounds best to them.
I might get a turntable one day, just for fun.
Hello Pam, I apologize in my comments was not my intension criticize your setup , I was once uTube creator but recently my fair share negative comment on my HiFi gear reviews. No longer post any media close my account . As you mention in your comments you live in free country to express your choices and freedom of speech , what's deal with your PM acting like a dictor . Freezing people bank account for donations to Freedom movement and bill C18 controlling what you what watch or read on internet , Is dark day for Canada needs change in GOVERMNT.

Jisus, that's how it looks (and sound), an 150k+ system. Congrats!
Love the fact you say make it your choice, I have always said the same. You have obviously worked very hard. Great review
I appreciate that!
I can think of some speakers id rather have and save around $20,000 in doing so. JBL somes to mind. Studio series and start with the 530s for rear, and center ,rear surround speakers. Then go up from there. The floor series with the twin 8 inch drivers.
Thats just my opinion.
Dont get me wrong, B&W makes beautiful speakers with some of the best wood cabnets ever !!!! But i would prefer performance at a much reduced price. Once again, just my opinion. Also a couple of SVS SUBWOOFERS to round out the bottom end. Not even the big big ones.
Maybe just a couple 15 inchers and only run them around half way on the Richter scale
Thank you for sharing your experience. That’s cool. I don’t know in the 80 one my set up is a bit more humble lol mine is a pair of 805D4 for front a pair of 805D3 for two ASW 500 subs oldies but goodiesand a Yamaha 780 receiver which works great for me passively wired and calibrated. The results are immaculate.
Wow congrats that is my ultimate dream sound system. Thx for sharing
Thanks for watching!
OMG, that's the most beautiful set-up I've ever seen, well done Pan :O :O
I'll just have to settle for my Pioneer VSX 519 and Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s for the time being 🤣🤣
Thanks!
Bi-amp Leak TL12 .1 driving Goodmans 12 inch triaxioms. Garrard 401 Linn arm with Ortofon all in top condition. A 60 years old system hard to beat
That is some serious equipment. People thought I was nuts when I got a new Yamaha receiver and added 2 more speakers for 7 speaker surround sound. It's great for both movies and music. Love AURO-3D. But definitely not anything like your over the top system.
Thanks David! It's so overwhelming when friends and family see both my sound system and my home theater setup, they are usually speechless, think I'm crazy, and then get to listen, and thank me for the once in a lifetime experience haha.
By the time you take into account the costs for room acoustic components, you are looking at a ball park figure of in the region of just shy of £500,000. Half a million quid folks or $640,000 USD !!!
I really need to watch the Home Theatre build video to get a spec list for all of the components and equipment there are in that setup. But I have no doubt that if this hifi setup is the standard to go by, then again, I would not be surprised if there was anywhere from £300,000 to £500,000 GBP / $385,000 to $640,000 USD invested in that setup as well. Unless you are talking Baht or Yen, then a million of anybodies hard earned cash is no small sum. This luxury has been hard earned and well-deserved. I, for one, am extremely happy to see the fruits of this man's labour and for him to attain his once in a lifetime dream hifi and home theatre system and to have it come to fruition.
I'm getting ready to take my Power Ball lottery tickets, (as of 4/1/24), to my local Convenience store and take the "Net" proceedings for those, these devices. While we're "on topic"...What am I looking at price wise, (and yeah...if you have to ask the price"), etc.
Beautiful! Big McIntosh fan. I bet she sounds amazing. Thanks for posting.
Thanks! Yeah it sounds even better than it looks. Breathtaking really.
such a wonderful system
congratulations
Thanks! I appreciate it.
Some people buy RVs and others buy Teslas. We buy audio equipment.
