- How to get rid of smell - emptying, cleaning & sanitizing a caravan toilet cassette in a caravan, motorhome or a boat... Today I will show you how we keep our caravan toilet cassette clean. It is made of plastic, like the rest of the caravan toilet and it is a bit tricky to keep it clean and fresh. What we do is empty the casette, flush it with clean water, empty again and then we pour a little bleach inside and top it up with water. It is important to filll your caravan toilette cassette to the brim and leave the solution for 5-10 min. Then you can empty the cassette, flush with clean water and add a bit of caravan toilet flush liquid inside. This is our tried and tested hack and it works! Be careful with using bleach as it is not great for septic tanks, because it will kill bacteria breaking up waste if used in excess. Always check with the caravanning site if you can use bleach and if in doubt carry out this procedure when you get back home. We use only a bit of bleach and deep clean the caravan toilet cassette in this way once a week. When travel in a motorhome in winter, the first thing we do is cleaning the cassette using our hack, they usually smell badly even when clean.
I hope you will enjoy watching me doing dirty work! We will apppreciate if you leave us a like. Have you got any other camping and caravanning hacks? Share them in the comments. Sharing is caring :-) Thank you for watching, Kat and Marek.

I’ve just bought my 1992 compass Pentara 😃 this video has been very helpful indeed! Thank you!
Very pleased to hear that! Enjoy your caravan adventures :-) What are your summer plans then? K
@@FreedomSeekers-FS thank you for your reply 😊 it’s currently on a farm close to my home, I’m going to rebuild it after taking the gas system out completely and adding solar, and live in it! I’ve been renting for over 25 years and with 3 dogs and a toddler now, I’m finding it difficult getting anyone to rent to me!
We have these in Australia, I think they are great. I have not seen them in in the usa though. I am a trucker lady and have one. Such a life saver for number 1s Cheers!
Thanks for sharing! Yep! I wonder if we have the only dump easies in the UK 😁😁😁 No idea how people manage storing no2s in plastic cassettes... K

Thank you so much! x Kat
Hey there! Thanks for the bleach hack, I'm going to try it at our next destination.
Your dump points are very similar to the Aussie ones
Hi, they are from Australia :D
Yes,Australia
I have never seen a Dump EZY in any of the campgrounds I’ve been too in the US. If campgrounds in the US had a Dump EZY station or two , it would make life for cassette toilet owners easier. Because as of now if you want to dump a cassette toilet at campgrounds in the US, you either have to carry or roll it ,if it has wheels, to a bathroom and flush it down a toilet then find a way to rinse it out with clean water before dumping the rinse water out in the toilet ; which most campground bathrooms don’t have fresh water hoses available to use for rinsing out the cassette toilets ,or you have to do the transporting by car of the cassette toilet to the campground dump station to wait your turn to use the dump station which usually consists only of a small pipe coming up from the ground that you have to make sure your cassette toilet dump tube fits inside the pipe otherwise you are risking wee or number 2 going everywhere around this small dump pipe. You guys in other countries are so lucky to have the Dump Ezy stations.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing useful knowledge! Go Australian Dump Ezy! Such an important amenity on any site. We take great pride in keeping this area spotless, as it is the most often visited area on the whole site 😁 Ideal for sticking posters... 😁 K
Very nice video u look amazing so if I tow my caravan to your campsite u can help me
Hi, thanks. Help you with the cassette? Afraid not 😂😂😂 K
I have seen a dump site like that in NSW Australia 😊
Hi! Yes! That's exactly where they are made! So far have not seen it anywhere else in the UK. Did you tour with a caravan or a motorhome? :-) K
@@FreedomSeekers-FS motor home 👍 dump sites are great but we need more of them!
Hi, Yep we have the blue DumpEzy dump point all over Australia. They are supplied by the CMCA and Councils/Caravan Parks just have to hook them up. Regards & Happy Caravanning, PaPa chris
Brilliant! Thank you for watching!
Brilliant! Thank you for watching!
Maybe a year late but Dump Ezy is the standard dump point in Australia. Not sure where they are made but possibly in Australia..
Hi :-) Thanks! Will keep our eyes peeled when in Oz! Kat
Dump ezy are in Australia mate .
All over the place.
Yep! and what we have here on site arrived all the way from Australia... have not seen it on any other site in the UK so far. I think my 'favourite' type of chemical toilet is just an old house toilet :D K

Would be lovely to go one day and use them ha ha ha
What is the small knob with yellow on,what's its use.
Could you please specify the exact minute and second in the video where you saw the small knob with yellow on it? That way, I can provide you with more accurate information about its use. Thanks!

Can you news home toilet cleaner's for a caravan 😊
Hi, not officially recommended, but we do! Kat
Yes they are all around Australia. In every caravan park or National dump point. Wheelie bins in the ground! 😂😂😂
Hi, would love to see Australia one day! and of course take a pic with dump eezy ha ha ha
How many gallons is that cassette toilet?
Thetford C2 Cassette Toilet capacity is 18L - 4.75 gal.
yeah i keep wondering about water, toilet cleaning and so on.. where to throw it
When it comes to disposing of water and waste from your caravan toilet cassette, it's important to use designated facilities provided at caravan sites or waste disposal points. These areas are equipped to handle such waste safely and responsibly. If you're unsure where the nearest disposal point is, the campsite staff or site regulations should provide guidance. Always follow the proper procedures to ensure environmental responsibility and the cleanliness of your surroundings.
Has anyone ever went #2 in one of these. We only use it for weee but incase of being in a bind how’s it cleaning one after that mess 😳
Hi, well... cleaning takes a long time! In our views, convenience is not worth the effort afterwards... we tried onceand nver again! Plus we just can't get over the idea that no2 is swimming happily in the cassette till it's emptied... Some people say that if you use good chemicals it breaks down completely... well, it would take a lot of product when you live in a caravan full time and use the cassette daily. It is a no from us! ha ha ha Kat
Living full time in caravan, toilet is there to be used.
Useing the Walex Porta-Pak BLUE bags is a great product for deodorizer and breaking down solids.
Tank is emptied every 4-5 days.
No worries at all...
Cheers..
Ps, the liquid stains so easy, but the pre pack bags so easy to use, no spills, no stains..
Bulk amount is available to keep cost effective, 15 in a bag or get the 75 bag as I use..
In Australia we are not to use bleach and pour it down the dump points as this upsets the bacteria balance needed to make the septic system work properly. Bad idea!
Noted! K
Dump-ezy comes from Australia
👍
We stayed on pitch No1 on the lake field for 4days at Easter, your so lucky to live on such a nice site. We will be back again at the end of August.
You may want to consider labelling that bleach container just so that someone else doesn't accidentally use it not knowing what's inside.
Hi, yes! That's a valid, COSHH inspired comment :-) Will do! K

Thetford: "Never use household detergents to clean the toilet: they may contain bleach, which can cause damage to the seals and plastic." - POOR ADVICE.
Using this method for over 5 years... 2 years in motorhome, 3 years in caravan. No problems at all 😁
Thetford only recommend purchasing thetford cleaning products to maximise sales.
25 years living full time in caravans and never had a problem using bleach!
Been using bleach for years mine is still ok
That's a load of bunk. If that were the case kitchen sinks, washing machines toilets showers etc... Would be leaking all over the world because of wrecked seals.
Dump EZY all over Australia.
I wonder how many are there in the UK apart from 2 in Mill Park Campsite 😁😁😁
