Brilliant, thank you very much. At last someone who actually tells you what chemicals are required (or not required) in the cassette and in the toilet. Very well explained, in a good old English fashion, down to earth, so you know what you are doing. Fantastic, only took 6 u tube attempts to reach you!!!
Anybody know what the other grey button is for on top of the casette? He mentioned the pressure valve for emptying and the one for checking the cassette is closed but not the other grey button that you can turn and push.
Wow thank you so much for that. Just purchased a secondhand caravan and it's my first time. How often do you need to clean the cassette out. I've only stayed two nights in it on my own and used mostly the facilities at the park so only 2 days wee. Leaving my caravan at the site and plan coming for weekends on my own. Do I need to clean it out every time I leave? Cheers for the straight forward tips 👍
Thanks for a sensible method of cleaning a cassette toilet. Is a "washing powder block" a pressed block of laundry soap? Does laundry soap break down the waste matter as well as all those asty, smelly chemicals in the Blue bottle? Would a cup of liquid laundry soap be as useful and effective? May amonia be used instead of the Blue liquid or the soap?
If you don't use pink in your flush do you just fill with plain water? And do you add a splash of water to the cassette with your washing powder block or just leave it dry?
Hi Dave, can you advise or have a video. Our Thetford toilet C-200 is leaking at the toilet base and inside where the cassette box is. We think it is the seal in the basin. Can you advise how to replace the seal as we cannot see how to access the toilet. There is not a problem with flushing. Thanks.
The pink stuff is ok to use for cleaning? Is the washing block you used specific for a cassette toilet? Or is it something use to wash dishes or laundry? Thank you
mark adams In the USA it’s mostly just pop up trailers and truck bed campers that use cassettes. Cassettes are more common in bigger RVs in Europe because dumping stations aren’t as common in other parts of the world, and the cassettes can be emptied in a regular toilet.
Best tip ever: pee in a potty/bottle, empty over a field or in a ditch. Huge labor savings and not a pollution hazard. We're getting forever out of our cassette.
There are biological fluids for use in both the flushing tank as well as the waste tank. I use Solbio but there are others. These will not harm the environment and can be emptied into ordinary toilets. Don't use the blue stuff, it's horrible for natural processes and the environment!

Maybe it's connected to the float and attaches to the guage that tells you when loo is full.
The long shaped button is a vent.
It shuts off when tank is full, has a float on it..
Hi Dave your videos are great thanks
Best advice I’ve seen.
Thanks for some very useful advice, about a not very often discussed topic :)

Good pointers
Can you empty cassette at your home when you get back or motorway service station or does it have to at a camp site.
Yes its fine to empty at home.
want to buy cassette toilet but where can I get that?
Isn’t the clothes wash tablet basically made up of 80% fat and won’t that cause a fat build up in the cassette?
Why no mention of Thetford's own Aqua Kem Green?
I wondered that too
ALOT OF QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS AND NO ANSWERS
Yes realised that after posting mine😥. Who knows. Maybe guy is dead...know that sounds bad but is a possibility.
when wild camping pee into a bottle, its wee that fills up the tank the most
I have holding tanks. Never heard of cassettes here in Texas

Even though only a demonstration and i assume a new unused toilet cassette i believe he should have been wearing gloves
Where can I buy the washing blocks from in Australia?
ASK AN AUSTRALIAN

Never put Biological laundry detergents in your septic tank!
So much missing information, what about the green chemical? What about SOG kits?. Manufacturers don't recommend swishing at all.
Andy stys great comment Andy to let everyone know u are a whiny little bitch. Keep up the good work😀
