    Hi guys. 1st of all… thanks for watching and for all the great comments and questions. Many of you have asked if we considered the Americanizer adapter along with a short sewer hose in the hose storage area. I thought I’d pin a comment so everyone can see where we’re coming from and why we chose not to travel with this pretty cool product. Yes we did consider it. It is an ingenious design… simple and works with a purpose. For an Ekko or bigger RV I’d say it would be worth the storage for us. It’s not just the size of the adapter… it is but not totally… it’s also about the hose you have to carry… and what you can’t store in the tube that the hose would have to be stored in… (where we store our propane bottles and Thermocell). We find that we empty the grey tank about 1/3 of the time that we empty the cassette toilet so washing out the hose with grey water after dumping would be an issue for us. And we rarely park at a site in a way that would allow us to empty the grey tank without having to spin the seats and move the van. All of these factors added together means it would not travel with us because it would not work for our way of traveling. We realize that everyone travels differently. And we always advise folks to travel several times with just the bare bones to find “their” style before investing in accessories or modifications. We use every square inch of the van’s storage and every item has to serve at least 1 good purpose, whether that’s keeping us or the van clean, keeping us fed, allowing us to film and edit, or taking care of the waste water.If we had more storage it would be something we’d consider as providing that one good purpose. I’d say if you have room you should try the Americanizer and a collapsible sewer hose. That’s why we don’t currently use that cool product. But… what do you guys think? -Owen

    My favorite cassette moment was when my six year decided she wanted to use the van toilet instead of the house toilet, at the same time I had just taken it out for a proper cleaning and airing. Nice little gift awaited me a few days later when I went to put it back in!

    Hi to you all. I also like the cassette toilet easy to dump anywhere. Also a funny story, our first dump at a RV park 4 years ago. I set the cap to close to the 4” pipe and while dumping it the cap rolled right down the 4” in drain. I didn’t have enough hands to stop it while dumping the tank 😂 So I recommend putting the cap in a safe place. Thanks for sharing your tips.

    Great video. We have been so hesitant in buying a Thor Sanctuary, over a Roadtrek Zion SRT - for two reasons. The SRT is built slightly Bette and more “rich” but primarily due to a good old fashioned black tank.
    Last week we decided to say forget it let’s buy the Sanctuary as we prefer to have 4x4 and a nicer driving Sprinter.
    Then seeing this video now helps us in knowing we probably didn’t make the wrong crap shoot lol.

Good luck with your Thor.

    We don't have a travel trailer yet but are in the final decision making process. We are considering a TAB 400 and a TAB 320 CS-S. Not having owned an RV before our only experience is with a Class C motor home that we rented for 2 weeks several years ago. I did the dumping of the black tank and it didn't seem that bad. One of my biggest concerns about the TAB 320 is the cassette toilet. But honestly after watching the several videos that you have done on the subject, I'm not concerned at all. And honestly with some planning, it seems like a better way to go. The trick you showed of setting the cassette down and then doing a dry run to line it up is brilliant and it took the aiming anxiety out of using this kind of system. Thanks for your channel. I just discovered it and I'm really enjoying it a lot. My wife and I hope to have our unit early next year so hope to see you on the road.

    Our usual place to stay is at a state campground. There, we'll either have access to a 4" sewer hole...OR a campground toilet. Do you recommend that we avoid putting TP into the cassette? (sorta like how you do #2 in Mexico..you put TP in a wastepaper basket). was wondering about this if you get a "blocked pipe" when dumping it out.

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  11 месяцев назад

      To be honest we don’t do #2 that often in the van, we try to find other places… but when we do we use TP and have never had a problem, but that maybe due to us not using that much TP.

    It would help if the holding-tank opening was at least twice as large. This way your “aim” would not have to be as precise.

    I'm curious whether you've considered The Americanizer and a short hose. You made that look easy but then you were obviously shooting blanks, so to speak.

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  2 года назад

      Yes we did. It is an ingenious design… simple and works with a purpose. For an Ekko or bigger RV I’d say it would be worth the storage for me. It’s not just the size the adapter… it’s more the hose you have to carry… and what you can’t store in the tube that the hose would have to be stored in… and we empty the grey tank about 1/3 of the time that we empty the cassette toilet so washing out the hose would be an issue for us… and we rarely park at a site in a way that would allow us to empty the grey tank without having to spin the seats and move the van… whew… all of these added together means it would not travel with us because it would not work for our way of traveling. We use every square inch of the van’s storage and every item has to serve at least 1 good purpose, whether that’s keeping us or the van clean, keeping us fed, allowing us to film and record or taking care of the tanks. But if we had more storage it would be something we’d consider as providing that one good purpose. I’d say if you have room you should try the Americanizer and a collapsible sewer hose. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Owen

    OK bought a spare cassette in d Vance of our Ekko delivery. When I try your method the aiming is spot on. However when we push the vent button fluid comes out of the vent button. Are you waiting to vent until your sure the vent is going to be only air?

    • @VANTREKKINGlifestyle
      @VANTREKKINGlifestyle  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, you have to wait until it empties below the blue button or "stuff" will escape there. Also, make sure the blue button is at the highest point not the lowest and that helps. We also try to not to fill up the cassette that full too... it helps with that issue and it is not as heavy to carry and empty. Good luck with it.

      There is a gauge on the toilet, which is not always correct and sometimes it goes from green to red in one use. You can also look down the toilet when the trap door is open. We normally know that in 3 days it needs to be emptied. I hope this helps.

    Always make sure the toilet will flush and not plugged up when dumping your cassette. I went to dump my cassette and the toilet wouldn’t flush. Sounds like you have the Cassette option all figured out, so that's a big plus! Ours (assuming we finally get ours) will have a C-Head, which is a so called 'composting' toilet. Advantage is... we just throw the bag away when it's used up, full, at capacity, ready to dump! Disadvantages are it uses a separate container for liquids that has to be dumped more regularly and uses a compost medium that we have to haul around. You win some. You lose some!
