    I would not like dealing with a stinky slinky..or sitting at a dump station. Cassettes are great!

  • @annettemills2399
    @annettemills2399 Год назад +8

    We hardly ever use a dump station. Our grey water is drained using a regular hose. (of course we have a designated one for this purpose.) So most of the time, we empty our cassette then drain our grey water into the cassette and empty it. This helps clean the cassette and gets rid of grey water at the same time. This can take a few trips, but we still find it more convenient (usually) than going to the dump station.

    You needed to link your brilliant video on how to line up the tank to empty it directly into the sewer hole. That’s saved me making a mess. Two things: we kept a trash can for toilet paper. Emptying paper-free tanks makes for no chance of blocking a flush toilet. We use baking soda in the tank cheap universally available and no chemicals.I love the ease of dumping our Thetford Curve tank. I’d hate having a black tank or a composting toilet.

      @@VANTREKKINGlifestyleI found some real chemicals from a commercial porta pottie company. I'm not saying that is what anybody else should do. I'm just saying, I did some of my own looking and it turns out that formaldehyde is neutralized by urine. So, because there's so little water in the cassette and it's such a concentrated concoction of yuck, as long as you don't use more than you really need to, you won't be dumping formaldehyde into the environment. In fact, if you dilute it before you use it according to the instructions, and then use minimal water and focus on filling it with urine, it should start to get a little smelly before it's ready to be dumped and that's a sign that you've neutralized enough of the formaldehyde to not be an environmental hazard. I'm not saying that's what anybody else should do but I couldn't take it anymore.

  • @RoadsofLife
    @RoadsofLife Год назад +1

    Some very good points. With ours, you need to empty the container into a bag and throw away the solid waste and the liquid container only holds a gallon that needs to be emptied to. Like a cassette toilet, the liquid can be dumped anywhere it's legal to dump such things, and the solids can be dumped in any garbage receptacle. If we used our RV toilet exclusively, we'd have to dump liquid waste every day, and solid waste about every three or four days. Since we don't use it all the time, we can go about a week or more before dumping both. Ours also needs composting material, so there's that to consider too.
    No matter what, there are always compromises and no perfect toilet solution for anyone. Be seeing you!

I'm thinking of something that could empty a black tank into a cassette that can be pulled out and then emptied like a regular cassette toilet. So the system would fill the cassette from the black tank 1st then shut off and give indication the cassette is full and can be emptied by hand. If not the black water continues to fill in the black tank until it's full. Just an idea.

      @@VANTREKKINGlifestyle For sure. So many people don't follow the proper way to bury your poo. Even if it's not coming from a cassette toilet.

    Dumping in public restrooms? Make sure you clean up your mess.

    Owen, off topic question for you or any viewers- what options would you include or exclude if ordering a new Ekko? Thanks for the crappy video😂

      Thanks for the funny! I almost named it that. Lynn says "that's enough of the crappy videos for now!". So what options? We love the options we have on ours but that's just because it fits us. Would I get a pop-top? Not unless you have kids or grandkids that need to sleep with you often. Would I get the outdoor kitchen? Well, I'm actually torn about that. Without it that becomes prime space for easy storage. But then again you'd have to store a grill anyway. Haven't used the water there but we've used the fridge a lot. So for now I'd say I'd get that too... at least for us. Entertainment package. Nope. Decals... nope... but we actually do like ours for some reason. 2nd battery. If you can swing it and if we'd had the choice I think we would have done 2 batteries and the generator. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and being with us.

      Owen, thanks for the reply, it was very helpful. My wife just asked me “did he say anything about the awnings?” We are thinking both. (We are nearly ready to call the dealer and place an order. Jim

    #5. More embarrassing, at least for women. Nothing embarrasses you guys, but I’d die if people watched me dragging one of those into a public toilet 😂

      Agree! There's no way I'd be caught dead wheeling one of those through a restaurant to the bathroom! Nor would I use it in a multi-stall bathroom where other people might come in. Nope!

      What if we put it in a baby stroller and named it Ralph and called it our ugly baby? Heck I even moan and groan when I empty it just to freak out the guy in the stall beside me. Can't count the number of Son-Of-A-B@#$@# I've gotten while doing that. In fact when I'm going into somewhere that's not a vault toilet Lynn always says... no pranks! 🤣🤣🤣

      Hopefully I never handle it. I might see it briefly fly out into the little toilet or dump station hole but you just become accustomed to it. After Lynn learned to do it a few weeks ago I think she's changed her mind. She used to feel the same way as you but now says it's not gross at all. She's wrong... it is... but only if you spill it. Then it's a bunch of pee/poop and maybe throw-up after it makes you sick. 🤣🤣

      @@VANTREKKINGlifestyle yes, but that is what i meant. Not actually handling it, but seeing it, smelling it. I know poop is poop, but I just have an aversion to others poop. lol I am a bit OCD.
