      I watched a RUclips video last summer where a doctor that designs research studies was trying to convince a hospital to run a cancer research program. The CEO was interested until he found out they would NOT be recommending radiation. The CEO stated that he would not be able to convince the board to allow research that promoted cancer treatment without radiation, because cancer radiation paid ALL the hospital’s bills.

    My husband checks for ALL of the 5 criteria for metabolic syndrome 😣 he was prescribed statin, but I told him not to take it, and I've convinced him to go on keto diet with me after showing him some of your videos. He has been on it for about 3 weeks.
    We are seeing his belly shrink, and his blood pressure is back to normal. We will get his labs again after a few weeks and see if a1c and triglycerides improve too. I hope they will.

    6 months into a keto lifestyle I'm down 75 pounds, off insulin for the first time in 15 years, and I was on Metformin for 15 years before that. Blood pressure down substantially with a fraction of the meds. I took myself off statins though my MD disagrees. But MDs are who told me type 2 diabetes could NOT be reversed. I, along with 10s of 1000s of others have done just that. I will remain low carb for the rest of my life. There is NO doubt Dr. Ekberg is spot on.

    Exactly what happened to me when I met with “doctors” 5 times begging for an answers as to why my stomach was so hugely out of proportion. They said “it’s not”, “everyone carries fat in different places”. Just months ago, one “doctor” suggested I had liver disease and after repeating “I am not a drinker”, he resorted to suggesting ovarian cancer. The next “doctor” said “eat less, move more”. Blood test reported me as pre-diabetic and I left the office with “nothing”. I only became of aware of “insulin” information by accident while also stumbling across information which informed me that I have Diastasis Recti. Went to the “doctor” again with that information and he told me “I do NOT have DR”. The surgeon he referred me to for evaluation confirmed I do. The exercises I was told to would have caused the DR to become much worse and the diet (as you said) would have also made my situation much worse. The “doctor” admitted he did now know enough about DR to diagnose it. Yet, he did. And all of these doctors were wrong. Not once has any doctor ever asked “tell me about your diet”. These doctors should have had a very good idea of what was going on with me just by looking at my body shape.

    A few years ago, my mom went overseas for six weeks by herself. My sister had never reminded her to take meds for high blood pressure, blood sugar, water pills, and anti cholesterol. She weaned herself out of all the meds she had with her, when she returned she has become a lot more vibrant, exhibited a happier demeanor, and behaving younger with more energy in every way. Her short term memory is good, was so impressed with her improvements.

    I’m shocked. I’ve been following your channel, not without misgivings and yes resentment. I didn’t want to starve myself, or give up some of my favorite fruits and other carb-laden foods I thought were perfectly fine. Unfortunately, my stubborn pooch stomach and growing weight problem were increasing, not retreating. So I decided to give your suggestions a try. I’m a compulsive eater from birth, in a strong recovery program, but nothing was working. I started intermittent fasting and am up to just one carb-free (but plentiful and yummy) late afternoon meal and hours later snack size carb free “snack” meal a couple of hours before bed. Yesterday went out and was horrified (and thrilled) when my skinniest jeans felt like they were falling off my body!!! I was tugging them up everywhere I went, embarrassed to be seen in such oversized jeans. Got home and realized that everything I was wearing was too big for me and needed to go to a local charity. Now I’m looking over my “too small” clothes, tucked away (just in case) and finding a whole new, sexy wardrobe! And PS:I feel fantastic! Thank you!

    I love the emphasis on traditional medicine "treating the symptom and not correcting the root cause", which will only lead to further degeneration of the body. We have to start asking the question why anytime our body is signaling us (i.e giving us any kind of symptoms) and trying to correct what is wrong instead of trying to silence the alarm bell with drugs or any other kind of symptom suppression.

      I'm with.ya. I felt like I was about to have a heart attack six weeks ago. I got on keto, and a supplement regimen as quickly as I could. Now my blood pressure is ~120/80, and I lost 20lb. I need to loose at least 10 more lbs of fat. I haven't started weight training yet, because I did some heavy yard work, and am building an addition to my deck/ patio. I don't have all my strength back yet. I feel like I'm half way healed. I have cooking skills so I can make keto seem like a normal diet. There are a lot of things we can have, but you have to figure out how to make them. It's a bit of a challenge to prepare things when your coming off a fast, and starving. There's a learning curve. There's only a few things I miss eating.

My doc still wants me to go on a statin because my LDLs were pretty high and my HDLs were low (pcos), but I really don’t want to. That test was 3 months ago and I won’t be getting my cholesterol rechecked for another 6 months. I’m only 34 and had a nuclear stress test and echocardiogram last year that were all normal. Dr. Elbert, thank you for your videos. I really enjoy sharing them with people who have zero knowledge of how food affects them. I’m always tweaking , correcting and checking in with myself to live my best life.
    At 63, I’m finding out that those tweaks are no longer adequate, I need to do more! My big one? Stress of everyday events. Our world is changing. Along with your excellent presentations and advice, I’ll be adding in meditation and movement along with the common sense supplements that you talked about.
    Many blessings to you Dr. You are priceless!

    This was very educational. As you gave answers to the problems. I need to be more acutely aware of what I put in my mouth. Also I must insist of my loving wife to stop buying the things that she thinks I love but are so bad for me and now also her as we at our age both have belly fat , me more as I have medical problems that cause extreme pain in minor exercise. Another great video. Dr.Ekberg.. everyone's health is their own decision.. but as someone that was prescribed statins years ago... I would think very carefully about taking them. Having a compromised liver to begin with. It was shocking to have the same doctor pull me off statins a few months later as they had further damaged my liver.The best thing that I did that day was to leave that Drs. office and never go back.

    To reverse t2d i started running 2 hours every day with low carb but it raised my cortisol so much that i started having hypoglycemia in morning and burnout adrinals failed to raise bs and i started having ringging in ears . I immediately had to stop excercise to repair ringing in ears. And my butts started disappear which came back once i came easy on cardio

    Hi. Thank you doctor i watch every your video. Since i was diagnosed as pre diabetes. I have a question that is bothering me for a long time. I follow your instructions and keep healthy low carb diet. But i allow my family members to eat what they want (i never eat white bread but they do). I have a husband and 3 kids( their age 8, 4, 2.) and their sugar levels are normal. Should they follow my. diet?

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you Iroda Ahundjanova. If you can teach and inspire through your example, they would benefit tremendously to join you. Even if their blood sugar is normal now, why be on a path of degeneration that might show up in 20 years.
