- How to surf | do more airs out in the water!
Airs are one of the coolest and hottest things in surfing right now, and rightly so, they look insane when done with style and progression.
We think surfers like JJF, Julian Wilson & Griffin C are the best in the world when it comes to airs, but we do understand the important principles to learn when it comes to performing them.
In this video we discuss those principles in an easy to understand manner.
Filmed in Sydney, Australia.

Another nicely done video! I will underline and exclamation point something said and easily missed; landing stiff legged and/or too hard can damage you and/or your surfboard. Some guys (guys in particular) will get on a roll and just break or buckle boards left and right when learning airs....and then blame the board. The shock of landing needs to be adsorbed by your legs (and body to some degree), and stiff legging the landing (particularly landing on the flats) will shock load the board and body. Modern boards are designed to load up (flex) in turns then snap back releasing that stored energy creating speed. The downside of this ability to flex and store energy is that the board can be overloaded landing airs.
Thanks man ...man the steepness factor was screwing me over... But now I got it been doing airs for like two weeks allready slob grabbing n everything.... I dunno why I never tried them before!,! Your vid really helped ! Thnx again
🤙🏽
It's sooooo hard to rap your head around. At least for me and people who think like me. I've noticed naturally relaxed people can just do it lol. It's annoying and amazing at the same time.
I didn't see this video! You're great in air reverse!
Really good video, still remember my air training. Some fun times.
Awesomeness coooool yeeeeaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!! Thxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!
Great video 🙏🏽
Do u have one for lay back ?
No but cover the principles in our Six Advance Surfing Lessons video
@Benjamin King first off, you can still do tricks on a foamie it’s just much harder. second, foamies aren’t forever boards they get you into surfing, they don’t keep you in. eventually when you’ve grown out of foamies you’ll have to move to a fiberglass which is just much better overall. anyways have fun 🤙
Can't wait to try one! Now that I learned these tips! I'll let you know how it goes!
Please do!

hello- love your vids. one this one: do you kind of Ollie like in skateboarding? or just launch out of the wave? I'm an intermediate surfer. I can smack the lip, cutback..ect...but never pulled an air! Im dying to!! love surfing and the channel. HELLO FROM NORTHERN California
Maybe ask Christian Fetcher or Archy? Can you do a video on choosing a good air board?
It worked I can now air revo thank you
Awesome video dude! Good job. Post some videos about a surf workout because I need some work with my paddleing
There is one available on our channel and more in-depth in the online course on Udemy
Please do an in depth cutback video I need help!
There is one in our channel
Hey guys, when approaching the lip should you be kicking down on your back foot before pulling your knees in toward your chest? Similar to an Ollie but without sliding your front foot?
Exactly like a frontside 180 on the skateboard. It’s a couple movements in one.
yeah, that's what I'm wondering. do you boink the tail like an Ollie or?
Do you pop like a skate board or is it more of a push. There wasn't much detail about the body movement
More of pop off the back while projecting your weight into the lip lightly
@@danethorpe9845like an ollie?
@@indicaHaze7 similar to an Ollie in a way but it’s 70 percent of reading the wave and finding the lip then popping the back and depending on a rotation or a straight air is how you slide your front foot and where u throw your weight
@@danethorpe9845 thanks 🤙🏾
Learning to Ollie on a skateboard will help with surfing airs?
probably
I subbed
Otherwise known as hamstring tests.😖
