Dude you are a fantastic teacher...Great tutorial... I am 52 years old and surfed everyday for years when I was younger, back in the 80s and 90s I did big airs but not 360 airs. I am still surfing and still catching plenty of waves- and my goal is to do my first 360 air this summer...At age 52...I will subscribe and look forward to more great tutorials! Amazing. Everytime I'd launch an air the board would spin under me. The only ones I could land were straight airs when the wave was big enough and provided a nice ramp. Your suggestion to swing your back arm behind you before hitting the lip was a game changer. I never realized it but I had always just hunched over trying to get as much speed as possible and then I'd jump and the board would just spin under me as I fly through the air. 10/10 best tutorial I've seen, launched 3 successful airs today, still need to work on landing, but I'll get way more practice now...

Hey noz finally got them down! One thing that helped me hugely on top of your advice was to practice doing the air reverse motion on flatland without a board before my sessions. I hid underneath the trestles bridge before the last couple sessions and warmed up doing them haha, it helped get the body and legs ready for the whipping motion. Helped me with getting the arms more into it and really flicking the tail around. Highly recommend to do this if anyone here is trying to learn air revs, do it somewhere where you don’t look like a weirdo 🤙🏼

I’m from the city. But have been surfing my whole life when I get the chance. I’m now coming into 30. And since I was about 12 all I dreamt of was doing airs and air reverses. After watching the chop hop and air video. I am now consistently doing massive airs. Single rail grab; double rail grab 6ft airs. That went from zero to hero over a 3 week period. Just going over all your stuff. There’s a lot in an air reverse and it’s a bit different. But will soon be getting into it 🎉 thank mate for making my dreams come true!!!!🎉🎉
that was legit the best fs air tutorials I've ever seen. Im 46, a lifelong competent surfer, but I suck at airs. Can do them backside but fs no! Can't wait to try these again tomorrow. Keep my feet wide, compress, shallow bottom turn, whip the trailing arm around, boost from the crumble section. sounds easy! lol 😆

hey noz, I've been attempting some air reverses lately at home and i have been having trouble getting the board to stick to my feet and this tutorial has helped me know that i have to pick the perfect section and shift my feet forward on the wave, thanks a lot i'll let you know how my attempts go yew

Didn’t make the premiere but Awesome vid, dont think i am at this stage of surfing yet lol but really we’ll explained so ill know what to do when i wanna do them.
That was the best how to vid . So good in fact that after I watched it . I just started doing full rotations not 180 air reverses. Seems easier for me to just huck it so I land straight , not backwards. So after watching how the bottom turn is done . I was able to wind up and spin hard enough to land nose foward. Backwards landing felt to sketchy. Thanks I am stoked

Excellent tutorial!! You did a damn good job explaining the little tips that you need to make it happen, like the shallow bottom turn, getting the tail towards the beach, and having that trailing arm across the body and in the direction of the rotation. I haven’t pulled one yet, but I’ll let you know when I do! I also find that having a shorey with dumpy sections helps with airs. The offshore sandbars in my area aren’t the best, but it is a shorebreak sometimes. I will target those days for air revs. Thanks Noz!

Not quite on the skill level to perform one yet, do you thinking skurfing ( wakeboarding without a big wake) with straps would help to get the rotation and feeling of it? Epic video by the way!

Great tutorial , like so many rotational moves, I struggle with the finish. Digging the tail is so hard to avoid. Maybe it's back to the skateboard for a bit.
I've tried a few reverses but I'ce never really been able to land any. I now reallyze my problem is probably im leaving my front hand up, as you say on the video it should follow the boards front rail. I'll try it on the next pumping sesion and see if it makes any diference. Thanks!
Should the air reverse feel like a front 180 on a skateboard? I feel like with surfing the air reverse is more rotated with the upper body as opposed to the lower? Every other tutorial says throw the arm and look toward the beach etc. My air reverses aren’t fully rotating around maybe I’m not emphasizing the lower enough? (Feel like I’m hitting the lip at the right time since my board and body are projecting to the flats rather than out the back) the furthest I’ve rotated one so far is tail barely past vertically-45 ish degrees; and the weird thing is I get that little bit more rotation on a deeper bottom turn with the more vertical approach, what do you recommend?
Hey Brian, it’s honestly more like a 270. I used to under rotate too and the 2 things that helped me were: 1. Load up that back arm and throw it aggressively around you 2. Just try focus on getting the TAIL to the beach and think of that word TAIL, before you hit the section Goodluck 🤙🏽

And im ready to get a smaller board (one board quiver btw 😬) What board would you recommend? And what liter range? I catch waves super easy now, i was thinking on getting a 5’7 dominator 2 which is 29 liters or should i go with the 5’6 28 liters? Would going down that half a liter make a difference? I often surf small 1-3ft waves and occasionally some good 4-5ft surf. Sorry for all of this info, but wanted to know what you think. Yewww! God bless!

I’m riding 25.5L and it definitely helps to have some extra litres to paddle onto waves. 1 inch makes a big difference and so does 1 litre so I think the 5’7 could be better. But I used to have the 1 board quiver until a year ago when I got a proper board sponsor. So I understand you want to choose the right one. Maybe if you’re not growing anymore, the 5’6 could be a good choice but will take you a while to get used to it. I’m sorry I haven’t given you a straight answer haha but it’s honestly up to you. Risk it for the 5’6 or work your way down with the 5’7. Honestly, they’re both going to manoeuvre much better than your current board so go with whatever you want more 🤙🏽

176cm. My mate Jasper who I kept showing in the video is 6’3 so height definitely doesn’t make it harder to air. He boosts bigger than most surfers I know. Just need to be riding the right board with enough volume 🤙🏽

Not quite on the skill level to perform one yet, do you thinking skurfing ( wakeboarding without a big wake) with straps would help to get the rotation and feeling of it? Epic video by the way!

The only thing you wouldn’t replicate is that foot sliding with the straps but that kinda comes naturally anyway! ⚡️

Great tutorial , like so many rotational moves, I struggle with the finish. Digging the tail is so hard to avoid. Maybe it's back to the skateboard for a bit.

I've tried a few reverses but I'ce never really been able to land any. I now reallyze my problem is probably im leaving my front hand up, as you say on the video it should follow the boards front rail. I'll try it on the next pumping sesion and see if it makes any diference. Thanks!

Should the air reverse feel like a front 180 on a skateboard? I feel like with surfing the air reverse is more rotated with the upper body as opposed to the lower? Every other tutorial says throw the arm and look toward the beach etc. My air reverses aren’t fully rotating around maybe I’m not emphasizing the lower enough? (Feel like I’m hitting the lip at the right time since my board and body are projecting to the flats rather than out the back) the furthest I’ve rotated one so far is tail barely past vertically-45 ish degrees; and the weird thing is I get that little bit more rotation on a deeper bottom turn with the more vertical approach, what do you recommend?
Hey Brian, it’s honestly more like a 270. I used to under rotate too and the 2 things that helped me were:
1. Load up that back arm and throw it aggressively around you
2. Just try focus on getting the TAIL to the beach and think of that word TAIL, before you hit the section

Im planning on getting a smaller board. Im riding a 5’8 hypto krypto 31 liters. And im ready to get a smaller board (one board quiver btw 😬)
What board would you recommend? And what liter range? I catch waves super easy now, i was thinking on getting a 5’7 dominator 2 which is 29 liters or should i go with the 5’6 28 liters? Would going down that half a liter make a difference?
I often surf small 1-3ft waves and occasionally some good 4-5ft surf.

@@AdrianIrizarry hey Adrian! Hahaha how good is that?!! I’m riding 25.5L and it definitely helps to have some extra litres to paddle onto waves.
1 inch makes a big difference and so does 1 litre so I think the 5’7 could be better. But I used to have the 1 board quiver until a year ago when I got a proper board sponsor. So I understand you want to choose the right one.
Maybe if you’re not growing anymore, the 5’6 could be a good choice but will take you a while to get used to it. I’m sorry I haven’t given you a straight answer haha but it’s honestly up to you. Risk it for the 5’6 or work your way down with the 5’7. Honestly, they’re both going to manoeuvre much better than your current board so go with whatever you want more 🤙🏽

how tall are you? because being a tall surfer makes it hard to get air, for me personally
176cm. My mate Jasper who I kept showing in the video is 6’3 so height definitely doesn’t make it harder to air. He boosts bigger than most surfers I know. Just need to be riding the right board with enough volume 🤙🏽
