Could I just check that u don’t need to remove negative battery terminal, or both battery terminals (positive and negative) prior to removal. I don’t have VAG software, and I’m pretty sure your supposed to need to do a throttle body alignment after this, otherwise you get a check engine light no? Any help appreciated!

I would only recommend a proper carb/egr cleaner for this job.

I'm not sure if the Tsi throttle body is the exact same but it's probably quite similar
