    If your throttle get dirty by carbon mixed with oil, it is the sign your intake manifold is getting very dirty too. Cleaning the throttle will not help much. Eventually, the carbon from the dirty intake manifold will spread to the throttle in a short time. You have to clean the throttle again. Once you clean the intake manifold and the throttle, your car will keep going for another 100k miles.
    The reason why there is carbon deposit in the throttle because those intake valves have some leaky oil that carries carbon and oil deposit into the intake manifold and it also spread into the throttle body.
    Most of direct injection engines have this issues!

    Hi DespairRepair! - love your title. Does this also apply to Volkswagen Golfs wherein I get the EPC light on and all kinds of false flags/errors on my dashboard? Because I thought I saw a video from you, or perhaps it was a short that described how to shut off your EPC warning light by this method. I get EPC warnings all the time, and I simply bypass it by shutting off the car and starting it again after 45 seconds.
    I'm also looking to get rid of my false flags. But they also go away as soon as I turn my car back on.
    This morning I literally had my EPC go on and then my water temperature gauge go up to 200 degrees before I shut the car off. I could even hear the fan facing.
    All I had to do to remedy was the usual with my EPC light being on. I waited 30 seconds. Everything was fine after that, including the thermometer showing false flags and racing.

    Besides Cleaning 🧼 the throttle body of my pickup truck 🛻. I also clean it's MAF sensor too! And I always disconnect the battery both positive and negative terminal, I disconnect them, I don't wanna to shorten or ground some electricals while I'm doing it. It's better safe to disconnect them. So I clean the Throttle body, and the MAF sensor and I also clean the Air filter because I'm using a Volant Cold Air Intake, I clean them too and Re-oil it. After cleaning and doing inspections, I also gonna do inspections on the Sparkplugs to see if there's anything abnormal or unusual stuffs going on. Sometimes I also Inspecting the Fuel injectors too! Once I get all done with them. Before I reconnect the battery I'm also gonna inspect the Fuse box and relays, and also take a look at the battery itself too if it needed replacement. All of this are DIY I do it all myself! Because the cost of labor when you bring your vehicle in the shop is too expensive!!! Word of Advice! Get yourself a Repair and Maintenance Manual/Book for the specific Vehicle that you own and driving! It really will saves you thousands of dollars! Especially Mechanic's Rip off prices.

Some videos say to turn the ignition to on then off twice on the third time turn the car on put your e-brake on, step on the brake, then put the car on drive. The engine should idle normal RPM after about 5 or 7 minutes. If this doesn't work then you should clean the throttle.

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  6 месяцев назад

      Hi and thanks for watching! You're right, the better option is to take off the throttle body and clean it completely and thoroughly.
      But this video is meant mainly for people with less experience in mechanics or who can't do a more complicated repair.
      Especially since this helps lots of times.
      I did this personally a couple of times, no damage or problems, of course, you need to be careful with the butterfly valve, it has to be opened slowly.
      Regarding the filth, if you use a spray and some cloth or a small brush you can clean it very well, the spray evaporates and the filth that falls in the intake is insignificant.
      Hope this helps and sorry for writing a novel 🙂

    when cleaning the inside of the valve do i have to have the ignition on ?

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  6 месяцев назад

      Hi and thanks for watching! No, you don't but it mostly depends on the type of throttle body.
      If it opens using just a cable, then press the gas pedal or rotate the control lever on the throttle body and it will open.
      If it's an electronic system (like in the video) you'll need the ignition on and then press the pedal.
      In this case, even with the ignition on, the throttle body didn't react so I had to open the valve manually
      If you have to do this don't use too much force so you don't damage the throttle body. Also don't open it fully, rather just a couple of millimeters that will be enough for cleaning.

      Yeah, in this case, it's really easy to do and effective.
      Don't want to be patronizing, but did you try to remove the air filter and spray through the air intake? This is also a popular solution for throttle bodies that are complicated to take off.
      Sometimes the better solution is to take the throttle body off immediately and properly clean it on the table, so to say.

      Hi and sorry for the late response!
      If it's the same engine and if we're talking about the same sensor (the one for the temperature gauge on the odometer) it's located on the plastic coolant connector.
      When you look at the engine bay, it's on the right-hand side, near the battery, just under the engine cover.
      It has wires coming from it and a big pin holding it in place. Once you remove the engine cover, it's easier to see and you can't miss it.
      This is the case with the Fabia anyway.
      Hope this helps!

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  Год назад +2

      Hi and thanks for watching and sharing!
      The intention of the video was to show a quick fix without taking off the throttle body.
      The proper way to do it is to take it off as you've said, but many people are reluctant to do this as it's more complicated and time-consuming.
      Also (at least from personal experience) this works just fine in most cases.
      It's certainly worth the try.
      Regarding the flushing, the spray evaporates quickly so I haven't noticed much gunk in the intake afterward. At least not more than there was before.

    • @843idfa
      @843idfa Год назад +3

      @Despair Repair Throttle body cleaner doesn't evaporate quickly, it's not meant to, you spray it into the valve and let it sit for a few seconds then flush it away. I cleaned mine recently which hadn't been cleaned for 13 years. So much soot came out it was like mud. I certainly don't want that goo going down my engine.

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  Год назад +1

      Hi and thanks for watching!
      Well, you can, but most people use it because it's the best chemical to remove grime and grease.
      The filth on the throttle body is very stubborn and sticky, this dissolves it very well.
      Besides this, it evaporates quickly and doesn't get into the air intake.
      By the way, if you decide to use other sprays or solvents try not to get any into the air intake, just in case.

    Everybody I read on RUclips with electronic throttle body says you turn that ignition on and have someone press the
    Gas pedal
    In fact you said it but didn't DO IT what's with that

      Hi, and thanks for watching! In case of the Skoda, the butterfly valve on the throttle body turns only when you press the gas pedal while the engine is running.
      A bit inconvenient for cleaning.
      So, cleaning is only possible like in the video.

    Where does all the gunk go when you clean your throttle body while still bolted in? Your engine... Take the time to remove it trust me

    • @DespairRepair

      Hi, thanks for watching and for sharing.
      You're right, the best option, especially when the throttle body is seriously filthy, is to take it off and give it a good clean.
      But the point of the video is to show another less complicated and quicker option that can also solve the problem. Also, it's much more convenient for people who have less knowledge around cars and mechanics.
      Regarding the gunk and spray, the spray evaporates and most of the gunk comes out when carefully cleaned with a cloth.
      From personal experience, it's definitely worth the try before taking the throttle body off.

      Spray the cleaner onto the rag. Then wipe. That way no cleaner goes into the engine.

    That one is easily accessible, just remove it from the engine to clean it properly so that it doesnt dump all that in the engine, you can also change out the gasket while its off, gasket is under 10 dollars

    Bro just take it off and clean it. You'll never get a good clean with it still on. The gasket needs replaced or scraped off it it's RVT. Bad advice and lazy mechanic work.

      What you've explained is the right way to do it but the point of the video is to show a quick alternative, especially to people who have less knowledge and experience around mechanics.
      Since the procedure shows results in the majority of cases (at least from personal experience), it's certainly worth the try this way.
