I live in Canada and own the 2010 version. Just as you said the car is super reliable like a Honda or Toyota without the price. Yes the issue you mentioned with the water pump and AWD is real, I will advise that you flush out the coolant and differential fluid every year.
Very well articulated Crank! We own a Mazda Tribute 2008 with the Ford Duratec 3.0L engine. For me, I think this is the most reliable Ford Engine out there. Even with unexpected overheating that occurs every now and then due to air in the cooling system to the point that the car shuts down on its own, the engine has remained pretty much bulletproof! If this engine had been carried over to the CX-7, it would have given the Lexus RX, Acura RDX and Toyota Highlander a good run for their money. Unfortunately, they picked a 2.3L turbocharged engine that is prone to timing chain/camshaft sprocket failure. I once had one towed to my workshop that I had to redirect to another shop because of the extent of damage I saw and knowing well that the owner won't put up with the expenses. Keep educating current and prospective car owners on these hidden gems, Toyotas are good but they are not the only reliable cars out there.
I bought the All wheel drive some time ago, all I can say is this car is so much underated, i upgraded the radiator to a double cell but spare parts are quite pricey apart from that the car is so nice
Just got the red Mazda CX-9 grand touring tokumbo. Frankly, the car looks better in person than in pictures and videos. Considering how expensive cars are now, this is definitely a great value people should consider.
I wanted to get a Mazda CX9 2008 as I’ve always loved it, but I was disappointed with back row space as it’s too small. I ended up going for a Ford Edge. CX9 is really underrated
Nice review…CX9 have been on my cart for a longtime…I happen to have researched about the SUV well enough to know that what you said here are all true. Now I have made up my mind to go for it…Good job…
Great video , pleaee crank am currently turn between the 2014 accord and the Toyota Camry 2014 both 4 cylinder , which do u advise i want a car with the least problems and very affordable to maintain
@@234drive I love the cx-7 but I don't really know about the reliability and how easy it is to maintain in Nigeria. Will love to see your review of the car. Great video by the way👍🏾👍🏾
Have used 08 full option of cx-9 and i can say it moves like a sport car and easy to maintain like toyota but the only thing is it does not have second hand value
now that fuel is 500+- in Nigeria, is this a god car to buy seeing it's an SUV with a V6 engine. considering buying one but don't know what the gas mileage is like
Oga if fuel is your main concern, then don’t bother with any suv with a v6. You should be looking at the likes of RAV4, CR-V and Highlander 4 plug. The fuel consumption on the car is similar to other V6 SUVs of its generation. A full tank should last you close to a week or a week depending on your commute (assuming you drive an average of 50km per day).
I have read severally that the handling of the car is super, and that makes me want to experience the ownership, but bro, you see that dash, i can only say that toyota tries. Top notch review as always
My 2014 mazda 3 just Dey burst people head in terms of smoothness and ride quality the same 2014 Corolla doesn’t come close and they are both in the same class of cars, basically if you like Benz or BMW but don’t have the money for it try Mazda
I appreciate the 3.7l engine. It's a ford underneath. I like ford too. Unfortunately the Nigerian car market is peculiar. Lagosians and Nigerians in general are willing to pay gold for a dead Toyota. I hate to say this but I don't blame them. Toyotas run forever. However, with the pricey Toyota's and Lexuses. Nigerians especially Lagosians are delving into other brands like Mazda, Subaru, Ford, Opel, Mitsubishi and Volvo
Let me explain you why this car is cheap on used car market here in Canada/US, and same thing in Nigeria. Mazda used to be owned by Ford until 2013. At that time the quality was awful, they were known as rusty pieces of crap. It was common to see mazda 3s extermely rusty, litterarly falling apart. But when Ford sold it, the quality went up again and now this one of the most reliable japanese brands. But people still remember what they used to be so don't buy it. Low demand= low price. Voilà.
@@ifeanyikingsley9874 If you find one without rust they are fine but not the best. They are disguised fords and ford is known to make unriable cars (this is why they stopped making cars, no one wanted it). But from 2013 they are almost as reliable as toyota and honda (the most reliable brands in north america).
Ford never owned Mazda. They had only 33% shares in Mazda. When they wanted to sell up their shares Mazda bought it back and became autonomous. But as of now. Toyota as taken back the space of Ford by buying into Mazda
The camera man na werey, im no sabi at all.. you no kw say anything wey crank wan show us, you go carry camera follow im hand?? Im dey show how deep the cup holders are.. and you are at the door
Lol. Nigerians are funny. Cars that have second value are there in the market, go and buy. You’re getting a feature packed car that has almost the similar reliability and maintenance cost as a Toyota or Honda for almost two times less the price you’ll pay to get a Toyota or Honda and your biggest problem is that it doesn’t have second value. Presently, you’ll get a 2013/14 Mazda cx-9 anywhere from 8.5m to 10.5m while a 2014 Toyota Highlander is north of 16m. So if you have that much money, you can go for a car with guaranteed resale value and leave this one for people on a tight budget who needs a good and durable car.
Mazda has been underrated for a longtime and its a very strong and reliable car

Been wondering why Mazdas are not common in Nigeria. They currently rank as the most durable car in the US & Canada.
It’s just the fact that Nigerians abandoned Mazda since 2004 after the 323 Mazda era…things are picking back up now
