Good day, I hope you are doing great. I"m thinking of subscribing to OAIM. I know little in music got a 15 stringed harp and my question is, will a smaller harp be disrupted with the lessons?

Paul Dooley makes beautiful harps and is my neighbour or you can get one here - www.irishharpcentre.com/shop/instruments-accessories.html or on donedeal?
Hi, This is a free lesson on the www.oaim.ie website. You can see that whole lesson there. Simply create a free account and explore the harp content from the student dashboard.
If you don't have levers and you don't want to re-tune your harp; you'll just need to find the sweet spot on your harp where it will work with the fingering she is showing. It's sort of transposing by ear and it's fairly easy..You should be able to start on a different note and play it in your key just by trail and error..learn the melody as best as you can; then fiddle about on your instrument until you find where most of it will work. You might need to change one or two notes; but you should be able to transpose it quite easily. Celtic music is great that way.
Hi there! Lisa said this song is in the key of A minor, a key which has no sharps or flats, but if I am not mistaken the F strings are sharpened. Is this correct? Thanks in advance!
Hi Nicki, We have OAIM tutors answering questions on our forum every day. If it's a more technical harp question then we can ask Lisa and she's usually back to us within 24hrs .. Have you taken one of the free harp lessons on the website?
Sorry, but I just had to comment; as I am having the same problem; and as a poor invalid with few resources the indifference kind of irked me..Plugging in speakers is a great idea; but the fact remains that you are speaking so softly that it necessitates doing something to remedy the problem and not everyone has access to those things or the money to come up with them. It's a lovely lesson; and having to fiddle about with something extra in order to hear it kind of screws up the "free" aspect of the video, you know? It also feels a bit unprofessional, a little stingy, and somewhat discouraging. Playing an instrument is already difficult enough without putting more obstacles in the way. I'm already limited to practicing in bed; flat on my back..now there is another problem to deal with..If this were truly a free sample of what your course has to offer, fiddling around with the sound in order to follow what's happening wouldn't be required. Why make it more complicated than it has to be? Perhaps you might consider fixing the sound; rather than making people jump through hoops in order to get the benefit of your lesson? It's frustrating and the cavalier assumption that everyone has the resources to remedy the obstacle is a bit entitled..For example; I have external speakers; but because I am poor they what I have available are somewhat defective and I have to fiddle about with taping them into an odd configuration in order for them to work properly. They are all I could get; as I can't afford to buy brand new ones. So while I have a laptop (donated) I can't take advantage of your video..And I genuinely am not trying to be mean or ungrateful; I realize you don't have to put up a free sample..but why would I consider taking the rest of your course if you care so little that you haven't made the freebee accessible?

Hi Lisa...could you tell me what scale your lever harp is tuned to. Thanks! Lovely tune I’d like to master!
Hi Norman, I manage the page and aren't sure. It's the type of question asked on the OAIM forum (I play concertina).
key of A minor - my harp is in C ...what do I need to do ? Thanks Lisa for uploading these great lessons
Hi Marie, Is you harp tuned the same as Lisa's in the videos?
No mine is in C - I will look at the first video again. Thanks

Hi there, I know it’s been a year so you may no longer need help, but all you should have to do for this song is sharpen your F (blue) string.
On a C instrument, you can play this song in D dorian, starting with A - D, D as the key centre.
very nice .
So nice!! :)

Hi Ariana, I'm not sure and would suggest asking this question on the OAIM student forum - www.oaim.ie
Sorry I only have a 27-string harp, what can I do about the cords??
Hi Kaitlyn, I'll ask the question to Lisa and get back to you ..
Oh thanks😊
Hi, Lisa says - "Adjust my arrangements to suit i.e. move up an octave or play an alternative version of the chord". Have you any further questions?
No thank you!!😊
You're welcome :) Where are you watching from Kaitlyn? Is there an Irish session close by?
The Ballydesmond Polka :)
I looked up the website of oaim.ie. In these courses you can buy there, you don't have direct contact with the teacher, have you?

What's the namely the tune?
I would like to get the note sheet of that piece. Is it possible?
Sure, you can find that on the oaim.ie website. Simply create a free account, head to the harp page and access the free lessons from there :)

Hi.. is it possible to speak a little bit louder. Often I can't hear your voice. Thanxx
Hi Yvonne, can you try some external speakers?
