    🟡 SHOW NOTES🟡
    Dry eye syndrome is often broken down into 3 major types of dry eye disease
    Either Aqueous Deficient Dry Eye, Evaporative Dry Eye or Mixed Dry Eye
    Most people with dry eyes experience a mixed form or at the very least a component of their dryness is made worse by evaporation of their tears. These are some strategies and products often used for dry eye treatment. Whether you are looking for how to treat dry eye at home or in the eye clinic, it is always important to consult with a local eye doctor.

I am slightly better with an Omega supplement and non preservative eye drops but still have the transient blurry vision, my eyes basically out of focus easily. I have -3.50 power in both eyes since the last 17 years, I am 32 now. have worn contact lenses for many years but stopped 6 months back when this started. Please do reply, thanks!

    About 6 months back I started having blurry vision for a couple of seconds at a time which would just get back to normal on its own, mostly while looking at something bright but also while looking at anything at all. My eye doctor told me its possibly dry eye and left me with OTC drops but it didn't help, finally they did a Schrimer's test and diagnosed I have dry eye and asked me to take an Omega supplement and use preservative free drops.

    Onions!! I think chopping them helps hack enzyme flow, encouraging a natural regeneration of fatty acid function. Their being a source of quercetin makes them a natural histamine, also. A good sign would be when your nostrils get runny or react to the onion upon taste. I get very dry eyes often, but that provides relief. As does CBD, and fish liver oil. I would guess that anandamide encourages mucous production.

    How do I ask a question? I was curious about the shape of the lens? Do we have the same focus for our central vision as our peripheral? If so, if eye glasses were less flat and more curved like our eyes could we see without regions of distracting distortion?

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  3 года назад +1

      Really great question! the focus of your central vision is not the same as the peripheral because the crystalline lens is not perfectly spherical and the distance of the image to be focused on the retina is at a different focal length when it is in the periphery vs the fovea (central vision). The cause for the distortion in the glasses lenses is not caused by poor focus of the image to the retina as it is refraction of light through the thicker edges of the glasses lenses the further they get out from the optical center of the lens. It creates what is called induced prism (calculated by Prentice's rule). Interestingly enough, the concept of the peripheral defocus is a major study in the development of progressive myopia in children, and a new glasses lens is now developed to minimize this defocus in the promise to reduce the advancement of the nearsightedness. we live in an amazing world. I hope this helps answer your question. Thanks for watching!

    I have had dry eyes since getting upper and lower eyelid surgery in Mexico. The surgeon tells me I will get better in time. I sure hope so! It's been six and a half months.
    I am loving the Manuka honey gel but I still need to use other drops as well (about once per hour). I do warm and cold compresses and sometimes they help. I'm seeing a specialist this week to inquire about IPL.
    I'm still trying to understand what went wrong. One specialist said I was predisposed to dry eye for this surgery because I've had lasik and had dry eyes with contacts and I smoke cannabis. I can't smoke cannabis anymore because it makes my eyes hurt.
    I take the "dry eye" oil and cod liver oil. I am currently giving up coffee, alcohol, weed and sugar and it's helping. My eyes are no longer sore. Just dry.
    I used the anti-biotic eye drops for two months instead of two weeks! Because the surgeon didn't tell me to stop and I didn't know that tobramacina Dexametasona meant anti-biotic drops and you don't need a prescription in Mexico to get more. Apparently, overuse of those can cause dry eye. I also went outside in the dirty Mexican air after I had my stitches removed and I worry that I injured my meobolian glands. Oy!

      Contura is just a technology that uses wave guided optics. That means it uses very high tech scanning to detect corneal imperfections to improve vision clearity and remove distortions. This may improve your chances of having better acuity with less glare and problems with contrast after surgery. Epi - contoura or epi- lasik is very similar to PRK, just without the use of alcohol.

      Been 2 months with this medication and I got slightly better but the blurry vision keeps happening every now and then, can that be the only symptom of dry eye and can it take months to go away even with medication? I constantly worry this might be damaging my vision in some way but its the only symptom I have. Please do share your thoughts, would highly appreciate it, thanks

    I just found out last week that I have a *mild* form of endothelial dystrophy/Fuch's dystrophy and I have a computer job. I also have MGD and some of my glands have died off. Do you have any advice for me? Other than what I have seen in your videos (so not your usual advice like omega 3s, hydrate, lid scrub, warm compress, etc)? I intermittently./frequently have blurred vision (especially in the morning) and prescriprion glasses don't help me.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  3 года назад +1

      So endo dystrophy can cause blurred vision in the mornings due to corneal swelling (corneal edema). Using over the counter Muro 128 drops can help and some people even blow warm air on their eyes ( from a hair dryer) to help pull moisture from the cornea and clear up vision. Best to ask your doctor before trying anything but those are some things that could help. I need to make a video on Fuchs

      Thank you for asking! What type of surgery? Did you surgeon or clinic recommend anything? Usually using artificial tears several times a day is good as that can help soothe the ocular surface before surgery as many of the prescription eye drops can interfere with the eye's surface and make things more dry. I have been diagnosed with evaporative dry eye and eye allergies, I have raised bumbs on my eyelids. What is the best eye drops for this? I use pataday for allergies but this alone and warm compresses dont do too much to be honest. Best relief is artificial tears but only legitimately last 10-15 mins never longer.
