  • How to Treat A Stye? In this video I review Eye Stye Home remedies.
*Note: A stye is different from a chalazion (not reviewed in this video)
A chalazion is a clogged oil gland on the internal eyelid but NOT infected. These are best treated with frequent warm compresses and occasionally oral medication. Ultimate treatment for non-resolving chalazia includes surgical removal/drainage and/or steroid injection.

I get a few styes a year, and I have found the best way to get constant heat is too boil water, put in into a small jar (e.g. jam jar), use a towel to hold the body (so you don't burn your hand) and put a few layers of tissue paper over the lid/base and just hold that to the eye. If it starts feeling less warm, take off a layer of tissue (I usually start off with 3 layers to keep it from being too hot). This usually lasts the 10-15 minutes of warmth.

hello my friends im here to share my experience from having a stye personally. I get them every 1-2 years and they usually stay on for months. I was also told if you get styes alot its proabbly from the lack of seafood if you dont eat any. My latest experience was from october to december. As soon as i noticed it getting big enough to be seen i started the hot compress almost 6x a day and kept going to the doctor for medication and ointment. Unfortunately after 3 different doctors and medications i gave up hope. The stye was already on my eye for 2 months so i was getting desperate. I started paying more attention to videos on youtube and home remedies online. Me personally started seeing results the most from washing my stye with baby shampoo 3x a day and also putting tea tree oil on while still doing the hot compress 3x a day. Within a week and a half of doing this i started seeing immediate results way more effective than the doctor and all their medications they recommended. Sorry for the long talk but just hope i can help anybody else going through it! i know the depression and how difficult it can be having it so trust me your not alone.

Thank you for this great video. Try making a charcoal poultice with activated charcoal powder. You can buy the capsules and open them up or buy the powder. I use gauze or a small piece of paper towel dampened and put a small amount of dry charcoal powder on it then fold it up and tape it to the skin with a bandaid or skin tape. Pulls out infections. Sometimes you can just wet the gauze on a bandaid and use it on the skin (great for bee or wasp stings too). I carry charcoal capsules in my purse and car. If you plan to sleep with the poultice attached or using the poultice under clothing you need to cover it with plastic so the charcoal will not come out and stain clothing or bedding. You can use charcoal poultices for many infections including an infected tooth. Simply place the gauze with charcoal applied between your cheek and gum next to the infection. Charcoal is the number one remedy for poisoning and all hospitals use it. Every household should have activated charcoal for emergencies. Also relieves indigestion and gas when taken internally. Don't know why I haven't tried it for this stye I've had for 3 days...duh! Wearing a poultice now. I also used a dampened wash cloth with about 1/2 cup of rice and placed in microwave for a minute and then covered it with a paper towel to make it more sterile. Stayed hot for about 10 minutes but had to move it around. It did feel good to my eye. Hope this helps someone. You can buy activated charcoal at the health food store. I buy the capsules online at Puritan's Pride. When on sale it's the cheapest. I give the bottles of capsules away to friends and family so they will always have it on hand. Great for stomach upset. When giving to kids to drink put it in juice in an opaque cup with a straw so they can't see that they are drinking something black. I have given it to my infant grandson when he was crying constantly and I suspected his stomach was upset. I put the charcoal in a small amount of water and then in a medicine syringe. He was crying constantly and he quit crying immediately ...I was amazed! You can find many youtube videos educating you on the use of charcoal. It has so many uses as a natural remedy.

    Hi Dr Eye,
Thanks for the best advice on my stye. Never had one in my life and I'm 54.
Just writing to suggest a great warm compress idea I worked out that gives a full days heat. They're called Hot Hands toe warmers. A pack of 2 cost $2 max but once the bag is open both must be used as the heat is generated on exposure to oxygen. As they both have adhesive backing to stick in the soles of your feet, i could stick them back to back together and had a perfect round shaped cushion with soft cloth cover. I was able to apply direct to the eye for hours to get really good heat that's almost too hot. If so just wrap in a hankie.

Wash your eye with warm salt water. I like to use sea salt. You might wonder if it stings and i guess it kinda does a little but mosty its just uncomfortable bc it is cleaning the infection, but it will not harm you. You can search on google "salt water for styes" and im sure it will tell u how much to mix with water. Personally i use a lottt of salt to speed up the process. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR EYE UNLESS U ARE CLEANING IT. Just keep it clean, leave it alone, and it will heal.
If you have a question about it, you can always ask me and i MIGHT know.

@@inhalethememes1098 use the warm salt water in your eye at least 3 or 4 times a day. Get a cup or some container put salt and warm water. Mix it so that that the salt is no longer at the bottom. And open your eye while its in the water and just look around so the salt cleans everything. You can do this even when u dont have a stye so that u prevent yourself from getting one

If you have a severe stye and have had it for a couple of days and cannot stand the pain I highly suggest you read the rest of this comment.
About 5 days ago I found out I had a stye and it became to painful to handle. It got to the point where it was impossible to sleep at night and in the rare cases that I would rest, I would wake up with a large amount of discharge surrounding my eye that was impossible to clean without disrupting the stye causing it to worsen. It significantly helps to apply "Bacitracin Zinc and Polymyxin B Sulfate" ointment. Not only does it clean and disinfect the eye, but also relieves most of the pain the stye causes. If you are able to, I highly recommend to ask your doctor for this ointment. If you are struggling to sleep at night because of your stye, this is definitely a great option to decrease the pain. I've been using it for two days now and sometimes I forget it's even there! I really hope this helps!

Dr. thank you, I appreciate your video. You explain this problem in detail. I think that when you do the demo for wipping off your eyes, you wipe the eyes a bit too harsh. It seems to me that you need to do it more gently. The problem I have is in the internal bottom eyelid of my left eye where I have a large white spot. I went to the Dr. but he didn't prescribe antibiotics, he only recommended the hot compresses.

I hit the internet and learned warm compresses and bought some stye gel in a tube to use (recommended by pharmacist). I also used my beauty face steamer. I hit these techniques pretty hard all day and finally relief within 13 hours. The stye still exist, but has gone down tremendously. My Stye Experience:
Hi so I am shy with posting youtube videos so I thought I would just comment my experience with styes and how i got rid of them with no operation done (side note: took me 1 year but had them for 2 years) I got my first small stye in HS never paid attention to it until college where it started getting HUGE, it transferred to the other eye and I tell you it was HUGE. I was very insecure about myself sometimes not wanting to go to school bc the stye was super noticeable & ugly :/ I tried so many ointments, went to the doctor, at home remedies and honestly it's hard to find what worked best for me but I will sum up some of the things i feel worked best 1. hot tea bags: preferably black tea or chamomile (has to be done every night) 2. stye relief cream from rite aid/walgreens 3. VITAMINS for the skin! 4. prescribed eye drops from my doctor...I say I'm not sure what worked from those 4 options bc the first time I got eye drops from the doctor they didn't work but I'm assuming the 2nd time it did plus I was doing the other three things. Let me know if you have any questions about the ointment or vitamins or want to see any BEFORE & AFTER pictures you can DM me on instagram s.tephanie.28 or reply here

Thank you sooo Much ..... I was using the wash cloth compress not nearly long enough twice a day. When I originally got the style on my upper left eye lid, there was swelling ,some pain. I've never had this problem before but think it maybe a result of some brush on eyelash glue I used the night before the occurrence ...normally don't use brush glue . The lashes where new the glue wasn't and thank goodness it was only one eye. The Dr where I purchase my glasses , the swelling was affecting my vision. He explained a stye to me and removed some puss to reduce the swelling. I did compress 2x a day and dry eye solution . After 2 weeks It was better but not GONE😢. Went back and received a topical ointment to use for 5 days , continue hot compress and if I'm not happy with results will need to see Optometrist .
I'm still using the ointment ...7 days pass the 5. After watching your video I'm going to do the heat correctly ,get the eyelid cleaner and give it a little more time. Thanks again👏🏾❤️
