Thanks for the update! The Aquis is my go to and leaves my more expensive watches in the watch box. There is just something really special and hard to explain about it.
Considering how often you (and I!) flip watches, just short of five years of ownership is quite an accomplishment! I've owned two Aquises (Aquii?) and actually prefer the chunkiness of the Gen 1. The sticking point for me is always the proprietary lugs and the fact that I'm just not a bracelet guy. I probably should try one again on the rubber strap, which by all accounts that I have read is excellent. I think I may have stumbled on your channel because of the Aquis review, if I recall correctly. Don't worry -- I won't hold it against you. Your content has improved very impressively over the years. :)
Every once in awhile I get comments on the older videos which brings me back to watching them while I reply and it's quite the thing to see lol. I've never owned the rubber strap but I've tried it on some friends Aquii ;) and it's very comfortable. Thanks Lee!
Great 5 year review, thanks! I discovered Oris a couple of years ago and it soon became my favorite brand. They have unique designs, not a clone of everything else out there. The price point is just right and very fair for what you get. I think it's the price a watch should be and you can wear it without worrying like you would a Rolex, etc.
Hey Bob, I also own the Oris Aquis (Black/Orange with the rubber strap, purchased new in 2015) and still love the watch from a visual standpoint. There are however a few negatives that I want to point out: 1) Bezel action is subpar - feels cheap 2) Accuracy is not according to my expectations 3) Polished parts on the lugs and on the clasp are scratch magnets (and I babied this watch) 4) No antimagnetic features whatsoever 5) Crown feels a little wobbly 6) After 4-5 years, the watch started to lose time dramatically and even tends to stop from time to time, even if fully wound I guess it's time to get the watch serviced, but I'm not really sure if I want to invest the money into to this watch... To sum it up I'm not impressed and will probably not buy another Oris, even if I do like their watches visually.
I'm wondering if your watch possibly got magnetized like mine. Mine never completely stopped but the accuracy was really bad until I had ir demagnitized. My crown feels tight still but but I've picked up some scratches too on the polished surfaces. Thanks for watching and commenting.
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces Well I'll get it to a watchmaker soon to get it checked, so we'll see if a demagnetization will do the trick. By the way noted you mentioning the AR-coating getting scratched. As far as I know, the Oris Aquis has AR-coating on the underside only. The crystal on my watch, is pretty much the only thing that looks like on day one, so I'd be surprised if it had outer AR-coating 😉
I did the same on a Damasko with scratched AR and worked really good. Took my time so the crystal didn't heat up but it did the trick. Actually tried making a video on it at the time but the audio was really bad. Thanks Jeffrey 👍
The only reason whyI didn't buy an Aquis a few years ago, was because my wife liked the design of the Christopher Ward Trident Pro 600 better than the Oris. The CW is an awesome watch also with the same Swiss Movement as the Aquis. That Aquis of yours is killer!!
That's an awesome alternative to the Aquis for sure. Not sure if you saw it but C. Ward just released a really cool compressor diver today. Should be on their site now if you want to check it out. Thanks and have a nice weekend!
That's crazy you said the ar. I bought a used one for aount 700 blue dial black bezel and had a scrarch in outside of sapphire. I contacted the only oria service center in the us and they said the ar is only on the inside. Lolol. Wow
@@ssalem35 . I’d have demanded a replacement as opposed to sending it away for months . It’s a very common watch movement used in thousands of different watches , so occasionally one will fail , but that’s Oris’ problem , and they’ve made it yours . I’ve not seen a single article or review of the new movement actually recommending it . They all acknowledge it’s design and cleverness , but nobody is saying to actually pay the considerable extra premium . Clearly you’ll not be buying another Oris
Hi ur video was fantastic I just bought an aquis watch also and im having some trouble with how to change the date and time using its crown Can you share with me some tips on this issus pls thank you so much i really appreciate if you read my comment
Hi there. Should be able to adjust the date pulling the crown out to the first position and time at the second position. Not sure what could be happening if that doesn't work.
The retailer mentioned about something like spinning the crown for 20 times and more when pull it out and push it back in. Is this what you do to ur watch also when u do the setting ?
Awesome! I've had the newer green aquis for one and a half years, and i'm still over the moon about it 👌
Yes that green version looks amazing. Thanks 👍👍
Nice 5 year update! I wear the current version with blue plate en 39,5mm case for almost 2 years now. Great watch!
Thanks Jarno. Yours is a beauty too.
Terrific watch, don't know why it doesn't get a lot more attention is a gorgeous piece, with a classic look and great. Amazing video.
Thanks Juan. Totally agree. It's an excellent watch. Solid build and looks great.

Yeah I'm not sure what it is but I wear mine all the time too. Thanks!
Great video!!!! Do love the look of the Aquis! Well done with the AR coating removing!!!!! Very brave!!!;)
Oh man it was scary but ended up working out. Thanks man :)
Got several Oris Aguis watches. Love them all! Thanks!
One of my all time favorite divers too. Thanks!

Love this watch. Oris is so under the radar IMO. They make a quality watch and that brand standard red rotor is awesome. Great review Bob. 👍
Thanks Joe. Cheers!

Thank you for the long term review...and the tip about removing AR 👍

Thanks very much for the personal story! Any hobby is a journey of emotional attachment.
Thanks Jeff and completely agree. Have a nice rest of the weekend.
Another great video. Great to hear a little about your watch interest history.
Thanks Ian. This isn't the watch that started it all but it played a big part. Appreciate you watching.
Great pieces for sure I can see why it’s one of your favorites had the Great Barrier Reef a while back fun pieces for sure
I remember when you had that one. That's a cool version too. Thanks.
Great watch Bob ! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Chris👍

Wonder if it's the newer one's that are only on the inside. Not 100% sure though.
Nice overview Bob, I love the Aquis and have it on the rubber strap, my favorite watch hands down, the design is timeless IMO.
I've been meaning to get the rubber strap since I've owned it. Tried a couple on over the years with it and it's so comfy. Thanks.
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces it’s is plus you don’t need to cut the strap to get the perfect fit, it has sliding micro adjust feature.
Good to know they’re pretty reliable , I’ve just bought the Baikal
Oh nice. Love the dial on the Baikal!
Yes that was what swayed the decision
bought the Baikal edition two monthes ago. it stopped working suddenly and it is in the workshop for more than 30 days.

I unfortunately don't have any experience with it.
Would you upgrade to the Speedmaster 300?
If you mean the Seamaster I'd love to have one someday but I'd probably keep this one too.

@@LongTran-go6vn That's to wind the watch. You pull out one click from there to set the date and 2 clicks to set the time.
Thanks for ur advice, would help me alot , keep up with ur work ur channel is so amazing. Best luck to you
