It can take so long to figure these types out, and if you don't know what you are actually dealing with, it's easier to make excuses for them. My twin brother has created "artificial memories" of my "mistreatment" of him. And from time to time, he will hang up the phone and pretend the call dropped. It's not easy to discern when they get super subtle.
