  • Version of the movie "3:10 to Yuma". I like it much more than the well known one from Frankie Laine. If anyone knows who sings it, I will be very grateful if you let me know since I have not been able to find it out, despite an extensive search.
The song is edited as the only way to get it is directly from the film itself ,and then joining "clean" pieces. I am not a sound professional, so my apologies if you notice any joints.

This is Frankie Laine - the soundtrack version 1957 ( for me the best version). Then there is the single release version 1957 which is OK. Then the 3rd version is from his 1961 LP - Hell Bent for Leather, which is also fabulous - great arrangement by John Williams. All on You tube😀

Gene Pitney recorded "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", but it wasn't even used in the movie due to a "publishing dispute". He recorded no other Western theme songs to my knowledge.

@@stanleygomez679 Frankie Laine sang the title song in SEVEN films:
      Blowing Wild - Warner, 1953
      Man Without a Star - Universal, 1955
Strange Lady in Town - Warner, 1955
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral - Paramount, 1957
      3:10 to Yuma - Columbia, 1957
      Bullwhip - Republic, 1958
      Blazing Saddles - Warner/Crossbow, 1974
He covered some other western themes, like High Noon and The Hanging Tree, but only did 7 actual movie title songs. And of course he did Rawhide on the small screen. Everyone has their own opinion, but IMHO, Gunfight At The O.K. Corral was his best, followed by Man Without A Star.

You have the western version done by Frankie Laine - which is the only one I was familiar with. Apparently he has two versions that were recorded. Both are now on youtube from the recording companies. From Wikipedia:
"The 3:10 to Yuma" is a folk song written by George Duning (music) and Ned Washington (lyrics) and sung by Frankie Laine as the theme song to the 1957 film 3:10 to Yuma.
There were two sets of lyrics recorded by Laine.[1] The version used as the film theme is western-themed, mentioning buzzards, fate, and the ghosts of outlaws, and a later version describing the singer wanting to take that train again in the hope of meeting a woman he had seen on it previously."

The more recent version with Crowe was decent,,,doesn't compare the original - neither the music score or the talent playing the key roles. Glenn Ford makes Russell Crowe seem like a high school drama student.

@@randyacuna3248 Just finished watching the original. It was definitely a lot less gratuitous than the original (which makes sense for that era). I thought the shootout could have been better (in reference to the "you only have one bullet left") and Ben Foster from the remake is a better Charlie Prince in my opinion. However, the original has a far better soundtrack and the ending was far more beautiful than the remake. Overall, I really enjoyed it!
