I have the Vanquish 540. Has lots more options than the 340 and alit more in boomer with manticore. For most / average users, they will probably never use most of the additional options on the manticore. Plus it can be too overwhelming for average and newer user. Best to save over $1000 and buy your accessories;( pinpointer, shovel, scoop) in my opinion. Great video though👍🏼
I picked up a Xterra Pro, these machines are inexpensive. They also have similar operations to the equinox and some similar features to the Manticore. It’s only single frequency but you can change the frequency. Coils will interchange with the equinox. I think it’s a better entry level learning machine than the vanquish. Its price is similar to the vanquish. Once you have learnt how to use it, upgrading to the equinox or manticore would be easy. I think the poster of the video will know this, I am just putting this out there as an option for the vanquish as a beginner Minelab machine.
I have a GTI 2500 . I have had it about 5 years now. And have found countless items a gold class ring mans 10k wedding band. silver rings I love that thing. I know things have come a long way but it's still listed on amazon for over $1000 . And it still does what I want it to.
That was actually a perfect breakdown, at the start I didn't think you'd give the Vanquish the credit it deserves as it's easy for more advanced users to look down on cheaper less featured detectors but later in the video you discussed that someone just hunting in low mineral ground in a park or something wouldn't benefit all that much to justify the Manticore and that's exactly right, however depending on what you use the detector for obviously the more expensive becomes better to justify the price. We are in good times that such good detectors like the Vanquish are so low priced, they're far better performing than top end machines of a few years ago in many ways. There is always the fact that in many cases a bulk of the finds can be found with just about any reasonable detector suitable for the job, it's the challenging finds that require the better detectors and more knowledge to understand and use them.
I got my Vanquish on a damaged box deal for 170. I found over 30 modern coins in my very trashy yard testing it. It accurately detected a quarter in coin mode right beside a huge rusty nail. In fact, I dug up the nail and thought it gave me a false 29 signal until I checked the small hole with a pinpointer. I can`t afford an expensive machine on Social Security. I still use mine and easily find any silver dime at 12 inches, nickels and pennies also. Its Polar Plot was absolutely flawless at predicting a coin over trash. This detector also had the first wireless headphones. NOTHING IS BETTER. And yes, it was worth the $1800. I'd pay $2000 for it.
Your perspective at 1230 was spot on, IMO. I had a Whites TR detector (mid 70s) that I used to have a ball with! Prob. missed a lot of stuff, but I also found a lot of stuff and it got me out of the house. My most rescent detector is the XP Deus but I prefer my old BH instead. Prob gonna get a Vanquish 440 to sort of bridge the gap between simple and sophisticated, which i prefer simple. Thank you.
Basically comparing the bottom vanquish with the top of all mine lab. The vanquish 440 and 800 adds a handful of the features in and the x-terra pro, also for $300, and adds a fair bit more to bring it even closer to the top, though the top still adds more customization. I'd say if $300 ish is your budget range prob the best bet is the x-terra pro, but to me the biggest advantage of the pro is that it's collapsible enough to put in your suitcase if you're going to fly somewhere. None of the vanquish models can do that, but the pro does have a few more niceties over the vanquish. I'd definitely go with a pro over the vanquish 800 because the 800 costs more and there's not much difference between the 440 and 800 except rechargeable batteries, wireless headphones and I think backlight, but the price jump between the 2 makes it more worth it IMHO to make it more worth going with the pro. So at a $300 budget, it'd really between the 440 and pro. You get more features out of the pro for the same price, but if you dont need them, the 440 is simpler. I'd like to see a breakdown comparison between the top, the 440 and the pro, or even the top you've got there and the pro if you have the ability to do such a comparison. It would be nice to see, but I too don't know if I'd ever spend the $1300 difference between the two.
Great video. I've been detecting for a few years and just upgraded to the new Minelab Equinox 900. The difference in price going to the Manticore just didn't seem worth the $500 extra. Plus, Minelab had a special that they included a pin pointer and storage bag. Looking forward to getting in the field for some fun.
Been detecting for almost 30 years. The best detector is the one thats affordable for you & the one you master. For coins i use the Nox800 ($1000) & now the Deus2 ($1600) both great machines, the Deus2 will edge out the Nox, form what im hearing the Manticor is neck & neck to the Deus2. I dropped the $1600 because detecting is a major part of my life so it made sense to spend a little more. If your not sure detectings for you, its not your main hobby, or you just cant swing a high dollar detector there's great options at decent prices nowadays. Its like Ryobi/Milwaukee or gasser/ Diesel or flipphone/smartphone they all do some of the job but sum do all of the job, what can you afford & what do you NEED?
You're going to laugh but I have totally mastered the $80 bounty hunter. There is no fancy bells or whistles but I have found so much with that cheap little detector. I even cut it up and customized it so I could put it on a backpack when I go to the beach. I just wish it was waterproof so I could scan the wet sand and go into the water with it a little bit. I am ready to move up if you recommend something that's waterproof that's decent let me know
I’ve had them all. Tested them all in depth. Best value= xp deus 2. Lightest, best warranty, dive to 60’, best separation and depth. 2. Minelab manticore is very close in performance to xp Deus however ergonomics and warranty is not! Xp deus 2 and 1 with 9” coil is an ultra light, lethal machine. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for your video👌🏼
I do need to say for a new detectorist it’s gonna be hard to beat the Nokta legend and vanquish. Legend REALLY impressed me for the money it’s tough to beat.👌🏼
I have detected nearly 40 years and I love simple so I've had a variety of machines over the years, right now my main one is xp.Orx. I am certain that the high-end machine is a better machine. But I don't understand electronics that will also perhaps the entry level.Vanquishes better for me.I just wan to turn it on hunt. The s***** of old parks and find good things. Loved your video
Oh oh i got an old Sogviergn ! It works!! But its an art to work it. I got a VLF fort knox that finds macro targets at long distance and then use hand held to dig targets
4:43 The Vanquish is partially waterproof. The coil is waterproof to 1 meter, it can also handle salt water as one of the only ones in its price range. Thanks for a great video. 👍
I have the Vanquish 540 and the Equinox 900. On wet sand the Vanquish is deeper on coins by between 1 and 2 inches. On land there is not a real difference in terms of depth. Did Minelab do something with the Vanquish to be so much better on the beach. It also beats my friend's X-Terra Elite on the beach.
Great video. You almost convinced me to go Minelab. I am looking to go a different brand from my Whites V3i, but I think i will stick with American made and keep Americans in the position of employment. I am considering a Fisher F75 Ltd black model, or the Garrett AT Max.
If you want to go, American, wait a few months and see what Garrett puts out. They have a new metal detector coming soon, rumor is, it will be multi frequency.
We just got a Go Find 66- We got ours used, but it's ~ the same price new as a Vanquish 340. If you are offered both, get the Vanquish I think Go Find 66 has more tones, but the target ID is just "Iron" "Aluminium" "Silver" or "Gold"... And it's all ringpulls anyway 😅
Your videos are very good indeed, I think. Very fair: no 'fan-boy' jive, which is a blessed relief...I'm going back to analogue again. . I've tried the SMF's. I simply prefer top quality analogues. I'm going to spend good money ( £2,000+) on a machine, it's going to be on a hand-built analogue. SMF's don't "do it" for me. But I absolutely do see how attractive they are to millions of other people who own metal detectors, and the very best of luck to them😊.
I bought a bounty hunter for $89 dollars...sold it for $50 dollars. Bought another bounty hunter a year later at an auction for $60 dollars and later sold it for $40 dollars. I did find a modern quarter, a 1970's nickel and a couple of pennies. All in all I paid about $149.00 dollars and sold them for a profit/loss ratio of $90.00 or rather -$90.00 I did find about $0.32¢ worth of coins. All in all I'd say it was a profitable juncture...for the used bounty hunter market! 😂 ...just kidding 😂 Really appreciate the video! All metal detectors will find things if you put in the time...even bounty hunter detectors👍🙂
The bounty Hunter oh man. That's what I got. I have found so many cool things with that metal detector and I like it because it's easy LOL. I feel like it does everything it's supposed to do if you have it on the right setting. The only downfall is it's not waterproof. It does not do good over a wet sand at all. But the bounty Hunter is a great metal detector especially for a beginner that doesn't want to spend a lot of money.
My first was a Bounty Hunter and I just love it!!! I tried to buy a better one and I made a mistake with a Dr.Otek!!!! I can’t make it work!!! I need a new one and I’m thinking about an Equinox 800 but I don’t want to make another more expensive mistake…. Some advise please!!!
My wife bought me detector on Amazon for 50 bucks. I found a 1915 Ford radiator cap with thermometer glass intact, Ford logo intact, and beautiful scroll work in metal.
I have the 540, its good, but you are limited to dry days and living in Wales they are few and dar between, so am looking to upgrade to a nox, do you think its worth upgrading to a 600 as its on offer right now?
I've been detecting for about 38 yrs and had almost every brand . I sold two ML 600 and 800. Got burned out. Wife bought me a legand and it walked the dog compared to my 800 . ML is pricing is nuts .
Have you checked out the X-Terra Pro ?? and it's a Single Frequencies Detector that has more options than the Vanquish Lineup .. and the X-Terra Pro has almost the same function as the Manticore....
@@RelicsRings And your Thoughts on it Are ?? 🤔 And I have it and I enjoy it after I have lowered the Sensitivity down below 20 Sensitivity and I actually have started with 12 Sensitivity until I got to know what it's trying to tell me what the target is.... 👍....
@@RelicsRings That's too Bad 😞 and You can only Swing one at a time and I have 7 extra Detector's myself and 4 Pinpointers and the X-Terra Pro and the Equinox 600 Detector's are the Newest ones and I prefer the X-Terra Pro Single Frequency over the Multi Frequency 600 but I do plan on getting the 900 and time will tell if I like it like I Do the X-Terra Pro......
@carolrice2063 yea there's only so much time in a day, and being you can only swing one detector at a time, you have to pick the ones that work best for you. I have 7 VLF metal detectors and 3 pulse induction. I really need to thin the heard at some point.
I wish you did the Vanquish 540 instead...for $450 the pro pack has the 12 and 8 in coils and has many more features and would stand up better in comparison...still not equal but better.
For about 70 buck you can get about 36 Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable accumulators, which give you at least 72 hours of running, and could be replaced in any time.
Thank you sir, you need to re-name and re post thisvideo. I searched google nd youtube manticore vs vanquish. Because they use the same frequency. But i coukd not find anything untill now. 2 hours later
Advanced user as in park or field vs studying maps of the colonial period. I understand the more serious treasure hunters don’t necessarily learn the full potential of the machines, using the programs given should be able to find most objects, I say most not all as minor adjustments would, I believe going slow and giving the inconsistencies of vdi, and tones you must dig, price doesn’t mean perfect, thanks
I haven't used the Vanquish in the Arizona desert. I'm usually there prospecting so I would use the Equinox 800, 900 or Manticore with the dedicated gold modes.
@@RelicsRings thanks for the info because I’ve been using a Fisher goldbug first generation and I’m looking at upgrading now after all these years I’ve been watching the mine lab a lot, but there’s just so many of them you have to choose from the problem is a lot of our back east the videos and doesn’t really tell me much on how it work out here in Arizona, so keep up the videos I like what I’m seeing so far
Start with a cheap one or whatever is comfortable for you to buy. GO OUT and try this hobby first, if you love it and find enough stuff to cash it for over 2,000 USD then decide if you want to buy more expensive toys. This is also good luck base activity. It will take a lot less time to get your initial investment than buy the expensive equipment. Also consider that it might get accidentally or purposefully damaged, lost or stolen.
The short answer is no. Part of the reason is due to so many targets like aluminum and brass fall in the same range as gold and or silver. Silver not so much, but there is still some crossover.
I guess I'm way behind the times. I still use my Tesoros; the Cibola, the Mojave, the Outlaw, and the Vaquero. Hated to see Tesoro go out of business, but everything changes. Nothing stays the same but the Word of God. The grass withers and the flower fades; but the word of God shall stand forever. Isa. 40:8 I bet that Vanquish can find just about anything that Manicore can find.
The biggest difference between $250 detector and a $1700 detector, is if a person wants to get into the obsession,......I mean hobby, and then finds out it's not their cup of tea, they don't have to listen to their wife berate them for blowing 1700 bucks. But then again on the flip side of the coin, I get berated by the Mrs when she says, "What, another metal detector? How many metal detectors do you need?". Lol.
Yea I have the same obsession. Thankfully since it's the only hobby I really do much of anymore, my wife is pretty understanding of the money being spent. Especially when I find a gold ring or something cool.
@@RelicsRings, if I took all the money I've spent on metal detectors, and prospecting equipment, I could comfortably say I'd have enough money to buy a new truck...... Oh wait that's the wrong answer. I'd have enough money to take the Mrs on a nice vacation.......to Australia with a couple of metal detectors in tow. When ever we go on vacation I take a metal detector with me. Pull tabs are international. But yes the Mrs doesn't complain when I bring home gold, in nugget or jewelry form.
Let’s put accessories aside, cosmetics, it’s the performance , seperation, depth, ferrous nonferrous. So to justify 1400.00 you better be able to find banner finds. My opinions multi frequency I understand, but sir that’s a lot to pay. But I’m willing to learn and be educated, but that’s alot
The 540 would have been a better comparison for $399 more adjustability then the 340 and still $1,300 cheaper. We know the 2D feature is a joke unless it is a single target underground same as Etrac and XY screens great for just one target ID. Ears is your discrimination
The comparison is to show the two extremes in price. There are a lot of different models I could have compared, but that wasn't the point. Nor was I trying to prove anything about the 2D screen, it simply is to show what's available on the least expensive SMF and one of the most expensive SMF models.
The 340 is too cheap without good options. The manticore is overpriced with only a few extras. A good comparison is 540 vanquish vs equinox 800. Many similarities.

well, after just half the vid, the Manticore is WAY overloaded, over maintenance (downloads, etc) and I never have the urge to go underwater to metal detect, so, as I now own the 540 Vanquish, I will stick with it and Never spend over a thousand bucks for a detector, after all, it is not my only source of making/finding money, lol.
you dont need a high end detector if you have experience the lower end detector in the hands of some who understands things is far superior. bet i can find gold with my 340. have a good day
You're right, an experienced person who knows their detector will always do better than someone who doesn't. I bet you could find gold with your 340, as long as the nugget is big enough. You have a good day as well
Hey if there are any new metal detectorist or experienced metal detectorist living in the Pacific Northwest west like Washington state... specificly Tacoma... lets meet up and possibly detect together 👍
Yeah I see all these videos I'm just so confused on why I would go from my bounty hunter which finds me lots of gold and silver when you see these videos everybody still digging up nails and pull tabs on the beach with $3,000 machines. The only reason I want to get out of the bounty Hunter and into something else is because I want to be able to detect over wet sand and in the water just a little bit. If anybody has any good recommendations let me know as long as it's I don't know maybe under $1,000
All metal detectors will find stuff. But in the case of Tesoro, with them being out of business it's getting harder and harder to find them. Parts to fix them is also going to be an issue at some point.
@@RelicsRings I have got loads stored up but your right soons a major part pack up that's it in the spares box .shame really they packed up shop cos I do honestly think that tesoro are better than most modern detectors

Great comments, agree with what you said. Having fun is the most important thing, regardless of what you swing.
Ill walk behind you with my beep and dig and find 3x times you can snd pick up all u missed. I don't care about numbers or tone or what it says
Good selection of finds up there. Happy hunting.
Thanks for the video. I can’t afford the $1700 but from what you have said it seems the $299 vanquish is a pretty decent machine.
Vanquish is a beast on the beach.
Yes it is. I compared it to the Equinox one time and the Vanquish 540 was just as deep as the 800 on the beach.
Yes it is!!
Great video....well thought..I enjoyed watching it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I still like my Vanquish 440. It does everything I expect from a detector!
For the money, the 440 is a very good detector. Has a few more adjustments than the 340.
540 have more features and still affordable
like comparing the garrett 250 to the pro
Thanks for you comments. I always say use what you have the most fun with.
His videos are good???? He's comparing a 340 Vanquish to a Manticore??? Hello, earth calling!!! Silly comparison IMO!
Xp deus technology equal to minelab in your opinion, im not worried about cosmetic speaking, being lighter, in performance, thanks
xp deus 2 for the win
I have the Notka Simplex, I can't afford the Legend. For me it's a decent detector, I'm not a pro hunter. Have you done videos on the Simplex?
I've done a few relic hunting with the Simplex.
good video
Really great information video
Thanks glad you like it.
...just kidding 😂
Really appreciate the video!
@stewybstewy nice.👍
The manticore headphones you can use a cord or use the wireless on the headsets
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I always use them wireless.
I have the 540, its good, but you are limited to dry days and living in Wales they are few and dar between, so am looking to upgrade to a nox, do you think its worth upgrading to a 600 as its on offer right now?
I cover control panel with quart freezer bag .
This also helps keep dirt out of controls like nite back lite on 540. Wish my pro f40 had wifi
@@ronpflugrath2712 I used to cover my detector with a bag like that and detect parks and playgrounds on rainy days.
I love to buy a detector but my money is not enough to buy, very nice detector.
Yea, I've seen the X-terra Pro.
@@RelicsRings And your Thoughts on it Are ?? 🤔 And I have it and I enjoy it after I have lowered the Sensitivity down below 20 Sensitivity and I actually have started with 12 Sensitivity until I got to know what it's trying to tell me what the target is.... 👍....
@carolrice2063 looks like a great machine. But I've got too many metal detectors as it is. I probably won't be buying one.
If you have a Deus II would you say the manticore has any advantage as far as relic hunting?
Yes, I have the Deus 2. I would say they are pretty close in performance, but the Deus is better in thick iron.
Metal detektor sudah terpercaya 👍👍👍
What's the coolest thing you've found anyone found anything really cool?
I wish you did the Vanquish 540 instead...for $450 the pro pack has the 12 and 8 in coils and has many more features and would stand up better in comparison...still not equal but better.
For about 70 buck you can put a 30 hour battery on the vanquish
For about 70 buck you can get about 36 Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable accumulators, which give you at least 72 hours of running, and could be replaced in any time.
Hi sir I am India which one best treasure detector
what do you recommend for a beginner? I want something that will last a long time, and from a company with best customer service
@headyboi7877 I think one of the best detectors available right now is the Minelab X-terra elite for $469
Thank you sir, you need to re-name and re post thisvideo.
I searched google nd youtube manticore vs vanquish. Because they use the same frequency. But i coukd not find anything untill now. 2 hours later
❤Thank You! God Bless You!
I believe that whites were the first one to come out with multi frequency right with Garett back in the day with mine lab etrac still does still work
Whites was 10 years behind Fisher and Minelab using SMF on a metal detector.
How is the vanquish in Arizona deserts with hot rocks and iron ferret ?
Good vid
Thanks
xp deus 2 v manticore ?
Is there a detector made, that simply finds gold or silver, and nothing else, you know, only 2 settings, Gold or silver
Thumbs up subbed Great video
The short answer is no. Part of the reason is due to so many targets like aluminum and brass fall in the same range as gold and or silver. Silver not so much, but there is still some crossover.
@@RelicsRings thanks
I guess I'm way behind the times. I still use my Tesoros; the Cibola, the Mojave, the Outlaw, and the Vaquero. Hated to see Tesoro go out of business, but everything changes. Nothing stays the same but the Word of God. The grass withers and the flower fades; but the word of God shall stand forever. Isa. 40:8 I bet that Vanquish can find just about anything that Manicore can find.
Minelab is number 1
But I’m willing to learn and be educated, but that’s alot
same teck 1500 or 240 its all multi freq have mine lab 600 more expensive i buy used would have to say mine lab etrac may be hardest one to oparate
Why would you compare these two, don't make much sense!! Stupid video!!!
I think the video is silly, I'm surprised he didn't use the Ace 250 😂
@@billbarry2984 Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate all kinds of feedback, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I'm glad you took the time to watch the video. If there's anything specific you'd enjoy seeing or if you have suggestions for improvement, I'd love to hear them. Constructive feedback is always valuable to me.
I use a 20 yo Bounty Hunter with (almost) as good recovery speed as my Deus. Ive tested MANY times. (red clay of GA) Better to show, via field tests, the "benefits" of one parameter vs the other otherwise, this sounds likea manufactures plug.
Great vd.thanks.
My friends, i want to buy a good m.detec but i dont know which one is best for more dpt! NOX 900/ manticor/ ctx3030/ vanq 540
Thank you 👍👋
find using a gpr is good deeper then even 1500 detector but most of this teck has come down so just have to wait for next teck to come out but these 3d metal detectors are far more expencive unless minelab is getting in to these digging 30 meters is out of reach for these multi freq machines
well, after just half the vid, the Manticore is WAY overloaded, over maintenance (downloads, etc) and I never have the urge to go underwater to metal detect, so, as I now own the 540 Vanquish, I will stick with it and Never spend over a thousand bucks for a detector, after all, it is not my only source of making/finding money, lol.
you dont need a high end detector if you have experience the lower end detector in the hands of some who understands things is far superior. bet i can find gold with my 340. have a good day
You're right, an experienced person who knows their detector will always do better than someone who doesn't. I bet you could find gold with your 340, as long as the nugget is big enough. You have a good day as well
@@RelicsRings me 92646 USA. ,i have some gold. it sounds off its just been raining. so much. hope to be out soon. have a good day.
I😍my vanquish
My XTP and my 800 are excellent. I’ll Never pay for a manticore 👍🙂
Wow 1700 bucks to find a corroded penny. I just don’t have that mindset.
Hey if there are any new metal detectorist or experienced metal detectorist living in the Pacific Northwest west like Washington state... specificly Tacoma... lets meet up and possibly detect together 👍
They all do the same thing, only in discrimination does it vary by machine.😊
Yep they all find metal
Yeah I see all these videos I'm just so confused on why I would go from my bounty hunter which finds me lots of gold and silver when you see these videos everybody still digging up nails and pull tabs on the beach with $3,000 machines. The only reason I want to get out of the bounty Hunter and into something else is because I want to be able to detect over wet sand and in the water just a little bit. If anybody has any good recommendations let me know as long as it's I don't know maybe under $1,000
To be honest other than extra bells and whistles I can't see no difference in my tesoro detectors and my minelabs people love to spend on fashion
All metal detectors will find stuff. But in the case of Tesoro, with them being out of business it's getting harder and harder to find them. Parts to fix them is also going to be an issue at some point.
Love my Lobo ST as well! Too bad Tesoro went out of business!
@@RelicsRings I have got loads stored up but your right soons a major part pack up that's it in the spares box .shame really they packed up shop cos I do honestly think that tesoro are better than most modern detectors
Not much!
Not much
Please sponsor me a metal detector sir i am a pilipino so many Japanese treasure here in Philippines
It is a lot of talking….. and your own opinion. The manticore a lot of bull shit options and disposable? Way overpriced. But that is mine opinion😂
Manticore is next level!
