LYRICS:
Sleep… stay asleep.
My soul yearns for one last look at you
Before I leave you here to be hidden within idyllic peace
It’s the perfect memory and I keep it close to me
Bound with wire
Cut me deep into the seams
Flow the colours of the queen
I live like I’m the only one, the fragile one that fights to survive
Crown the liar
Buried deep beneath the cross
Tainted hearts forever lost
Sweet treasure, let go of all you know
Sweet treasure, you are the one, you are my only true pleasure
Now watch me burn it all down, parasite town
Far down below it’s a fight for survival
So scared as I am of you
I’ll burn it all down, parasite town
I call this survival
So scared as I am of you, parasite town.
8 years later and this is still genuinely one of the most beautiful songs I've heard, Guiding Lights is one of the most soulful metal albums ever made
I just listened to the new Tesseract album and it brought me back here!
Can't argue with this.
9 years and still it is a one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
+1
I happened upon this song randomly on RUclips back in 2015. I too think it’s a beautiful song and the entire Guiding Lights record is absolutely amazing
How can people say that they aren't good ? This gave me chills, honestly, that sad feeling you get in your neck/throat area, made me get overwhelmed. Pure emotions, I just can't explain how I feel when I listen to this kind of music, I never can, it's beyond explanation. This is pure spiritual or non-bodied adventure/experience. It's a living source of my mind. It makes me feel like I'm flying and exploring unexplored places. And this doesn't happen often, after all of the songs that I've listened throughout my entire life, it's very hard to deliver those emotions. And these guys did. I just love the masterpiece they create.
To me this didn't sound like SkyHarbor at all. To me, this sounded like In Colour or White Moth Black Butterfly. Dan's other projects seem to be leaking into Skyharbor
Andrexthor
What do you mean doesn't sound like skyharbor. It's skyharbor and they do whatever the fuck they want. This is their choice to make and if you want them to sound like a 1 note chugging djent crap, I think you should listen to someone else. This is a masterpiece, one mature song telling a story. Full of feelings.
Andrexthor
It's funny that you mention it sounds like White Moth Black Butterfly. Keshav is also heavily involved with that project.
Dzimka Bujiashvili
´I mean the style is completely different from what they did before. I'm sorry you are such and angry person. Good day.
Andrexthor
You know why I'm angry... ? It's because people always bitch about changes.
What's being depicted in this video is happening to most people on a day to day basis. Brilliant metaphor and great artistic direction.
Thank you for recognising that!
Daniel Tompkins **Bows** Love you man. Great mind.
Daniel Tompkins Thank you for singing in so many great acts!
Oh and come to Columbus, Ohio, especially if with TesseracT.
Daniel Tompkins
what does your vision for the video mean, Dan? I feel like i'm so off in my interpretation, just so curious!
André Muricy Those creatures are "feeding" on people. Take it from there.
Sleep... stay asleep

This album is going to be too much to handle.
This song and Evolution are already too much, they gave me so many emotions, I'm overwhelmed.
Agreed. Crying my damn eyes out right now.
All the feels on November 10.
All of them.
Yeah. How are people saying they can't get into this? This shit it so good.
Brian Foster You gotta FEEL the music; that's how you know what its meaning is. Don't just focus on polyrhythms and tone and stuff. That's nice and all, but you lose track of the emotions the musicians put into their work. That's why I listen to music at all.
Brian Foster I get it with their previous album, I had a really hard time getting into that myself. This song and Evolution are incredible though, complete step in the right direction.
How is this not in the millions of views? I am legitimately concerned.
because most people dont have the attention span to digest this kind of thing
After 4 years i'm still coming back to play this song again and again, it's just so beautiful and gives me chills.
breathtaking.
wow you were here 6 years ago. awesome
I still can't get over the harmonized vocals at 1:11 and the falsetto at 1:45... Dan is just my favorite vocalist right now, his skill is unreal.
Really really nice!! I like when bands try to say something with their videos, instead of just making videoclips of themselves headbanging! Video 10/10. Music 10/10!!
The song combined with the animation made me cry uncontrollalbly. It really hits home. Wonderful work, a beautiful piece of art.
This honestly gives me huge Perfect Circle vibes.
I will never be over this song. I wish the band could feel how much it's meant to me for so many years now.
Jess Copes animations are incredible. Love the song the group and especially Daniel Thompkins vocals.
reminds me of Limbo
Daniel Tompkins made a great decision to leave his worldly job to pursue his passion. He had great success as a vocalist for Tesseract, Sky Harbor, and as a vocal coach.
In a world covered in darkness we can still shine our light, as a whole this song/video are very intense and it hits really hard, yet it does so in such a gentle, mellow way that it's like a lullaby, one that is able to take us for a bit out of this world's chaos, I truly believe that through music love can set us free Share your light everyone :)
Best post I have ever read.
I didnt cry till like the third watch, and for some reason it hit haaaard
Glad I'm not the only one lol
I think it's one of those songs and music video combinations that just are so deep they need time to absorb.. >.
First one hit me hard but yeah those second and third listens really did something else.... Love this song dearly
This song is one of the best songs written this year. The band is probably one the best bands to hit the market in along time. I hope the best for these guys!
I've said this many times before but I'm gunna say it again. Why are people like drake, lil Wayne, Justin Beiber filthy rich and famous with the crap music they make and then something like this that is so creative and beautiful gets barely enough views to allow band like sky harbor to support themselves. I hope someday the world will wake up
I always wonder the same thing, a shame
Javin Maillet don't bother trying to figure it out. it is a sad reality
One of the main reasons for the same is because people do not really understand the real music and creativity. After all, everyone can't understand true music.
The "artists" that you mention are products of record labels. Their purpose is to generate income. Nothing music related really.
Aiorossagita totally agree
I didn't think you guys would top Evolution, but this is hands down the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Been listening it on repeat for 2 hours straight now. Pure art. Give me the album of the year.
This is one of the most powerful songs they’ve ever wrote. This band just keeps amazing me
I don't think I've ever gotten watery eyes watching a music video and it just happened. Perfect music and video.
Almost cried the first time I saw this. Maybe due to my experiences recently.
For me the light symbolises hope and his "light in the dark". The thing that keeps the 'demons' away, his love for his family was what is was for him.
The insect things symbolise the 'demons' that lead you towards death - the representations of struggles and battles that you might ultimately loose.
Once the 'light' and life has gone from his lover - his life feels over too. Like things aren't worth anything anymore and his light goes out, no matter what he does.
Then he's taken, and reunited with her afterwards. At least that want I take from it.
Seriously, Skyharbor may be the best new prog band. Glad that the first band from India I hear, is freaking amazing. I wish Pakistan could do the same (I'm part pakistani)!
Hello fellow Pakistani - You should check out some of our music ;)
Hey man ! Some years later and Pakistan have this gem of a band called 'Takatak'. Those guys are genius.
Is it just me or is the music video to this INCREDIBLY sad?
Instantly I connected with the song. It's beautiful, scary and euphoric. Thanks Skyharbor
It's hidden treasure.. I really want this song to be untouched by crowd. This is only for niche segment.
There is just so much emotion in this song. Especially the ending, chills ran throughout my entire body. This band is just so good.
im one of those hearts of stone kind of people and i almost cried my eyes out.
This is a Very powerful illustration of potential duality.
VERRY WELL DONE GUYS. KEEP IT GOING.
DONT STOP FOR ANYTHING.
Don't get to hear Dan singing falsetto that often, makes for a pleasant change and it really suits the song!
Probably my favorite music video of all time. It adds so much to an already beautiful song...
Thank you Skyharbor and thank you Jess Cope. You all have truly outdone yourselves. Thank you, it was worth the wait.
2.40 fuck ....cant understand how can exist sutch perfection in a voice ...
I had a look at the song list for the album and I'm really happy to see these guys have got Plini as a guest artist on one of their songs. That one has got my attention
this should have way more views and way more likes.. this is one of my all time favorite bands and im a huge metal head.. this album is simply amazing and dan thompkins is the man
A person would be hard pressed to find a warmer and more emotional song than this. This is true art in its highest melodic form. Daniel Tompkins is one of the most expressive vocalists in music today.
I just discoved this band and truly enjoy this song. It feels so good to listen such amazing music.
A pure masterpiece. This song replicates many tough times that i had to face. And at the same time, it is a motivational art of music as well. Thank you Skyharbor for writing a beautiful song thats listened from the soul.
That sweet and unique affair that came to an end... the dream of things that might have been... that last one night stand... that moment when all those old memories are forgotten and give place to new ones...
One of the rare instances where I absolutely LOVE the music video.
The vocal production is miles above the last Skyharbor album!!! Now i can enjoy the album versions so much more!
This song has so much meaning, beautiful.
Dem feels, doh.
I haven't been moved by a song/video in this way in years. This is incredible.
I was tearing up watching this, if the main character would've got picked up I would have been crying my eyes out.
Wow, just wow, yes, I did kinda cry, due in no small part to Jess Cope's work again, just wow
I haven't ever found a band that has moved me quite like this one, not one. While there are many amazing bands, this one is in my top five.
One of the best songs ever, from one of the best albums ever.
this song hits me so hard every time i listen to it..its so beautiful and meaningful.. im going through alot of shit in my life and i listen to this album multiple times a day and everytime i hear this song it makes me very emotional.. its reminds of me so many things in my life and i relate to it completely
This video is incredibly powerful, and moving on many levels. The new album in itself is a work of art. Absolutely gold.
Edit 6/5/2022 - Nearly 8 years later and I still come back to this video often, and it still puts a lump in my throat.
Quite literally moved to tears by this...
"Family man goes to buy groceries amidst 'global epidemic'"
Jk. Such a breathtaking piece of art even after all these years.
*I'll see myself out*
as much as i love this, i think every possible word that can praise this song and video has been said already, so i'll just say this:
did everyone really understand the video? What i get out of it is that his light represents his state of mind. when he gets out of the house, he deals with so much misery and pain in the world, that his light almost fades away and makes him a negative, parasite-ridden person like all the other characters. What ultimately saves him from this fate is the ever-present memory of his wife and child, the love that should guide him home, on which he doesn't give up.
is that right?
This. Finally someone discussing the video's sense and interpretation and not talking about who did this style of animation first or if its a good song or not.
Well....I agree with you in regards of your interpretation. How did you find the idea of the first source of light, the little carousel of stars and moons? That the light is not just from "anywhere" but that it is from somewhere even higher than our heavens, from beyond our world and reach, so to speak from our souls. The picture of stars and moons in the midsts of complete darkness, of space, is to a certain extend even metaphorical for the whole video. What do you think?
THANK YOU!
I knew this video had some deeper meaning to it that nobody was talking about, but I couldn't pin it down.
It's very touching.
well the carousel was pretty clearly one of those toy-things that hang atop a baby's crib, which is directly connected to the baby and therefore serves of a fitting place from where he'd psichologically recover the first light. I think trying to associate it to space and the stars is reading a bit too much into it, and the guys aren't really that pretentious or cryptic, the video is relatively straightforward.
*****
maybe... Dan is a christian, so it's clear that the "crowned liar" who's "buried beneath the cross" is Jesus and the way the lyrics direct some negative energy towards him is an intentionally blasphemous statement. I dunno, i haven't thought too much about the lyrics, the video conveys a much more cohesive message to me, so i instead choose to draw my interpretations from there.
André Muricy I don't think they meant anything blasphemous to Jesus; in fact 'crowned-liar...buried beneath the cross' seems more like a reference to dead politicians/leaders/kings who are responsible for most of the problems plaguing the world today.
Jess Cope you are great!
A similar sound to DT's side project Absent Hearts (if you haven't heard it is well worth a listen!). I was expecting something a bit heavier but good to see that this album is going to have a wider range of tones and atmosphere than the first. I just hope the first two releases are representative of what we can expect from the album. If it is that would be unreal.
Lol, careful of your usage of the initials DT, I almost thought you meant Devin Townsend or Dream Theater.
I'm pretty sure Keshav stated that this album would be in a much different direction than the previous one, as they wanted to branch away from being just a "metal" band. The first album was basically a conglomerate of Keshav's material through the years, and Guiding Lights would be a true collaborative effort. I know that all the guys are big fans of ambience, so I'd expect the rest of this album to maintain this "atmospheric" type of feel.
I'm so glad I backed their PledgeMusic campaign. Stellar music.
Absolutely. Marvelous.
ive been waiting a very long time for this album and its so perfect.. thank you Skyharbor for making music with this much feeling and dan with his amazing lyrics and voice.. this song give me chills
...dat Daniel Tompkins. Goosebumps.
I can’t watch this without crying, you’ve done an amazing job Skyharbor. This is a beautiful music video. You’re a fantastic group of musicians and I hope you keep on keeping on. ❤️
Beautiful
Jess Cope and Owl House Studios did an excellent video. I saw this particular animation applied to Drag Ropes by Storm Corrosion and I was amazed by your creativity. Great stuff and very beautiful song, the sound is very distinctive and a special mention goes to the very deep lyrics. GOOD JOB!
Wow wow wow... amazing...
another piece of magic from the Owl House team!
This song made me feel my own feels... Nobody makes me feel my own feels!
Beautiful song.. is just perfect
I love it!
This is so good, I can't even.
My thoughts exactly :)
my new favorite skyharbor song
Great, great song, and Jess Cope's artistry, as always, is stunning.
I wonder if you guys will ever make a song that doesn't get stuck in my head for days and weeks on end... Beautiful chills. Keep doing what you do, guys.
I knew this would be amazing, so I liked it even before it started playing, I wish I could like it again.
Wow! Totally beautiful music :) And an amazing video too!
Beautiful track..
"My soul yearns for one last look at you, before I leave you, here to be".....
Pass on, my friend...you've done what you came to this Earth to do...you have other realities to explore now...I'll be fine here :)
See you soon, when it is my time........

Exelent song and great chorus > Now watch me burn it all down, parasite town
Far down below it’s a fight for survival ! Beautiful melody and vocals.
never dislike any music..
Das Video zieht einen magisch an, erinnert mich an Steven Wilson und die Mucke an Tesseract 's ALTERED STADE-Zeiten, well done
my god. where was this hidden all this time. end moved me to tears.
What a great voice!
excelente banda me encanto cuando suben algo nuevo
Lamentablemente el cantante se fue y ahora esta en otra banda, se llama Tesserac
Here I am, after 7 years, my mom used to listen to this song, damn how i miss her, I’m not strong today
that was gorgeous
beautiful.
got to lobby U.S national talk show letterman, kimmel etc (random idea) so that this band would get the coverage they deserved
My gawd! This blows my mind! Their new album is gonna be a masterpiece for sure!
Will always listen to this....
