As I got more and more into prog I slowly began to lose the feeling of emotion in music because i was so focused on the technicalities of the instruments being played until I heard this song. This song reintroduced the reason why I love music so much. I literally feel this shit deep inside my rib cage. Such a beautifully written song.
Love this band for the amount of feels they have in their music. Just a suggestions for ya though in case you don't already listen to him...check out Devin Townsend's discography. Ear and brain candy at the same time. I was running into a rut with prog until I discovered his music a while ago.
@@calebhohneke8482 Devin's a god in my opinion i got the chance to see both tesseract and devin for his addicted tour in San Diego and what an awesome show
As someone who really likes the heavier sub-genre's of metal, discovering this is like taking a break and going for a walk at the local park. This is just so perfect, it's quirky, its got some heavy riffs and is just not something that's been overly done before and I love it.
Is there something I should know Of the colours that you show? Devilish Chap I think tesseract is really special due to their minimalism. I think sky harbor and bands like it are much more complex, which is good, but I think tesseract just knows how to write a simple, excellent song, even though their stuff is progressive. For example, the structure of this song is just two different motifs played one after another two times. And it's FUGGIN POWERFUL. Anyway, there's my opinion you didn't ask for! Cheers!
OMG... just discovered this band by accident on Spotify. .. this is probably one of the most exciting and complex songs I've heard in years.. got goosebumps
This is an unbelievably powerful music video for this song; I was speechless. Hexes is one of my favorite songs of Polaris and you did a truly great job in capturing all the emotions it conveys. The song itself is already so emotional, beautiful and strong that you just want to scream and cry at the same time. TesseracT, you really nailed it with that music video. You couldn't have done it better, I just love it! Thanks for the experience!
How I discovered this band: 1 - Spotify is on shuffle, plays Of Matter, telling myself "meh sounds like its gonna be some generic autopilot prog metal" and skip it. 2 - Spotify keeps suggesting the song to me and rhe same scenario happens about a hundred times. 3 - One day the song starts and I can't skip it (hands busy), after 1 min I'm like "Holy shit this is so good", listens the album about a hundred times.
i just read the youtube music description of via by volumes and it mentions via, the discovery by born of osiris, måsstaden by vildhjarta, and one by tesseract all being albums in 2011 that heavily contributed to the djent scene and i love via, the discovery, and måsstaden so i thought i may as we'll check out one.
Everyone has said enough about the quality and brilliance of this song but I will advise everyone to play this in its natural sequence after Dystopia... The combination makes this song even more powerful.
The "It isn’t a secret" refrain with it's 4x repeated (1+)4+4+4+2 beat is brilliant of course. Those lyrics make it even better as almost no one understands it at first, until they see the lyrics and then... "Ooooh, yeah!".
OKAY so Spotify just wrapped up 2019 for me. My #1 go-to band of the year was Tesseract, My #1 go-to SONG was Hexes. THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL THE MAGIC YOU PRODUCE.
This part... so epic: It isn’t a secret this mind's shrouded in history It isn’t a secret this mind spirals in disarray It isn’t a secret this mind shatters in mystery It isn’t a secret I find terror in memory
@@nicksquires7034 Nah, not really. Ashe has talent, for sure, but Dan is undoubtedly one of the best vocalists of all time and he carries far more power and emotion.
This is the single greatest piece of music I have ever and will ever hear. There is no way this can be topped. The saddest part about it is that will never hear this for the first time again.
The second the piano kicks in at 0:24 and the first line of the lyrics begins shortly after is tear duct activator, that opening line is out of this world.
I just got reminded of Tesseract today morning. Opened up the saved Polaris on Spotify immediately. Same day evening I get this video as a recommendation
These guys are great live. We saw them open for DTP back when they hit the states for the first time. We also saw them headline with Ashe before he dropped off the tour in 2013 (?). I am still trying today to get myself to another show...So glad Dan is back! :)
The visuals were amazing, the editing was amazingly crafted, everything about this video was amazing, and the vocals ended up giving me massive goosebumps. TesseracT man, one and only
i woke up tonight and couldn´t find no sleep for what felt like an eternity, because i´ve had got that damn chorus on my mind constantly. I have to admit it was stunning, fun and annoying at the same time. :D
This song seems very emotionally raw. What's it about? The first thing that comes to mind is being betrayed by someone you love and never letting go of that hurt...
As a bass player, this bass tone is like a religion to me. Perfection.
Hugh Grant approves this comment
@@mellotron_scratch Lol
Dude same
for me too, and im not even a base player, lol i can hardly play guitar
As a drum player, this drum polyrhythmics are like a religion to me. Perfection.
Have no words to describe how much this album has helped me and continues to do so.
Same here. It changed my life this summer. Can't stop listening to it now.
For me was Nocturne.. But "same" ;)
By the way: does someone knows who write, create the lyric of their songs..?
I think Daniel and Acle , sometimes Aidan O'Brien puts his ideas on the lyrics ...
We Are The Empty fucking same dude . This helped me through depressing times and drug addiction heavy

THAT SNARE ACCENT STARTING AT 3:22 IS SO GOD DAMN EFFECTIVE!!!!!! Absolute musical masterpiece
2023 and I still have not found a band that envoks more emotion out me than TesseractT and SkyHarbor. Thier music will live in my soul forever. ❤️🔥
Thanks for the name drop. Im digging both of these bands.
Me too saw them live last year and it was incredible.
There's just one band that sounds like TesseracT
TesseracT.
True freaking story!

nah, skyharbor is different.. they had dan for a while but still had a much different sound.

.. and Skyharbor in a kind of way !
maybe Uneven Structure in the soft parts (they're like Meshuggah + Tesseract)
4:24 that scream with those two is utter eargasm.
OMG... just discovered this band by accident on Spotify. .. this is probably one of the most exciting and complex songs I've heard in years.. got goosebumps
Yes! One of them complex and exciting songs would be Jakub Zytecki - Satya's Diary

hey, you're the fucking album bro!

and then there comes Tesseract... this breakdown
You are even called Hexes... How come you call the song 'one of your favorite songs' and not 'the favorite'?

Martin Grech voice is something for another world.
Polaris is unparalleled to any album I've heard in a long time, listening to it is like watching a movie but with your ears.
seeing them with gojira next week. can't wait!
William Robbins San Francisco? im gonna be there too, cant wait

Just saw them in Salt Lake City, UT with Gojira. Great show.
Brock Van Komen I was also at the Gojira show. It was madness man.

Youre music blows me away. I have been listening from the beggnining. Please dont ever stop making music.
It's hard to choose but I think this is my favorite Tesseract song.
There are so many good ones. I would maybe say nocturne or tourniquet. Calabi yau also has a special place in my heart
3:15 Pure bliss. This track was the first one on Polaris that really stood out to me. It is still my favourite from the album.
This band really has something here. It is real progression of music. They get the point and it’s sharp
Great collaboration with my favourite Martin Grech!

Sorry to jump in but I agree with Jacob, Ashe has a great voice but Dan is just right for TesseracT.
not gonna lie they both had bangers... but Dan.... I mean it's Dan yall!
Dan is also the better songwriter in terms of melodies really.
But why does this song have to be so good and hit all the feels?
This is the single greatest piece of music I have ever and will ever hear. There is no way this can be topped. The saddest part about it is that will never hear this for the first time again.

First listening of this band. I'm digging it. Just added the albums to my iTunes subscription.
rustedshut nice man! Polaris is a masterpiece
suggest the band Dream On Dreamer.
My mother, who doesn't listen to metal, introduced me to TesseracT. She heard them on NPR. I cannot go back.
You guys are legendary. For now I can only dream of being able to be a part of such a band one day. COME TO BRAZIL
This voice. Heavenly.
More people should know about this band.

Amazing! Now just come to Brazil and play this damn song!!!! LOL!! :)Great job guys!!
Yes!! Come to Brazil!!
Brasileiro falando inglês com brasileiro wtf
Na real o Gabriel Morelli tá dirigindo a palavra pra banda, não pra mim, mas deixa pra lá, não quero discutir...
Tbm falo em inglês com meus amigos
YEAH! Brazilians chatting with Brazilians in English. HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE
That was truly beautiful... The concept of the video (and of the whole Polaris album) is so good it would deserve a shortfilm !
This is really starting to grow on me.
I'd never heard of them 2 days ago.
Please come to Brazil !!!
