Through a recommendation, I stumbled upon "The Contortionist " yesterday and I must say, I am thoroughly enthralled by what I've experienced so far. These musicians exhibit an extraordinary passion, and their compositions are nothing short of intricate masterpieces, woven with a remarkable blend of musical and lyrical finesse. Their music resonates deeply, striking a profound chord within the soul. As someone has already mentioned here, the arrangement presented here is award-worthy - the mixing is of an exceptionally high standard and the sound quality is simply outstanding. I find myself at a loss for words, utterly amazed by their talent and artistry. (20/6/2024)
Vzor Yan Definitely. Tesseract doesn't simply improve on old works. They try completely different things. Polaris may not be as good as Altered State, but it's also a completely different style that you can't really compare their older albums to.
Can't believe this was 7 years ago...this was the song that got me into the Contortionist. I remember just being in tears over how beautiful it was experiencing this for the first time. So beautiful
It was the song Flourish that did me in and got me hooked. the Intrinsic album is as close to the roots of the band that you can get without sacrificing the new sound that fits so well. Holomovement was a masterclass in musicianship, but the Language album blends all of it into this beautiful perfect (either you love it or you don't) amalgamation of thought and true feeling. this band got me through the loss of my mother, Aunt, and best friend all in the same month...... thank god for The Contortionist
Everything is so controlled and deliberate, what an incredible collaboration of musicianship. It's one thing to have a mastery of your craft in a flashy soloist setting, but it's another to have group cohesion like this. Brimming with intricacies, layered with perfect execution. This is true virtuosity.
Omg wow, this is amazing to hear what a song choice for a birth… blessings to you and your loved ones… you just jerked a tear out of me imagining this. God bless you.
I credit my ability to sing Micheal, the dude has so many amazing tip videos and vocal lessons he gives, I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am today without his help, and man I can’t say this enough this band is scary good
Absolutely mesmerizing, relaxing, inspiring... I swear, if one day, Michael Lessard produce an r'n'b projet, I'll buy it and it will be the most beautiful project ever.
+tinkoasd dude, almost my exact thoughts exactly! lol i remember hearing him on the newest album for the first time and thinking " this fucking dude would best any male rnb singer alive today!" and i would probably buy it an an rnb album he made too.
I honestly dont know what happens to me when I listen do these guys... It seems to transport or transcend me to another place, another time, dimension, I dont even knwo how to say it... just beautiful. Congrats!
larcsword890 I certainly appreciate this! I’ve never heard of Leprous but I will certainly check them out now! You say you’re a musician, as am I! What do you play??
+ralorox Isnt the hard part actually finding the people that have the same amount of motivation, similar goals as you. Are not arrogant, are willing to work through problems together to achieve better and better product? I don't know man.... For me finding the right people for the right place so those people actually enjoy what they are doing... This is like almost impossible to do thats why we have only v. few seriously good bands that stay with each other long enough to develop not only as a Single musician but as a band itself. That's my experience anyway, there is millions of insanely talented artists/composers but only few of them have tenacity to reach what they want... So finding a keyboardist or vocalist of any level is not actually a problem.
truely a magical band. I saw them live last month at the Brighton Music Hall when they came to Boston. Was my first ever concert. And i couldnt have asked for a better one.
Cameron seems like the kind of guy that would go for a haircut, unintentionally get a mullet, not say anything to the barber about it, and still tip him.
props to the mixing engineer, this sounds so much better than anything i heard in a while and the contortionist guys, they're out of this world thank you for this beautiful experience
God damn if this isn't one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. This group is really onto something with this pursuit. Also cool to know they've worked with one of my old producers as well. Not that their heavier stuff isn't good, but this in addition to the other "Rediscovered" tunes are truly unique. Really moving stuff. The chord voicings, progression, the percussion, and the subtle notes and ambiance the keys bring to the table are all perfect. This has been on repeat for days now.
I'm hearing this version for the first time, I love the original but I think this might be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Absolutely perfect in every way.
Flop? Naah mate, it's absolutely awesome on a different scale. I love contortionist, can't compare to tool. Sound too different, I don't even know why you brought Tool up in the first place 🙂
Ever since I bought language years ago, it always works it's way back into my rotation. One of my favorite albums of the last ten years. Absolutely brilliant.
This is song is a miracle but... ...I shit in my pants every time I see Cameron at 2:35 grabbing his guitar and start playing immediately after wear it.
@@tubadude07 It definitely looks like the vocalist was watching him because right when he puts on the guitar he looks towards Michael then the camera immediately cuts to the singer who was glancing towards the guitarist for a split second before looking away

Best part of The Contortionist is that you don’t even need drugs to enjoy them. But if anyone is ever curious on what psychedelics might be like, this is definitely how it feels. Obviously, there are intense parts. Which might be able to be compared to Intuition:Conspire on the album.. complete nonsense with an intensifying measure of something tugging hard trying to wake us the fuck up, but if we aren’t willing to answer the door, then that echoing knock might just throw us through a loop. Rediscover what it’s like to be completely ALIVE and feel the energy of beauty, destruction and recreate a world of bliss through your perception. 🤘🏻 Fucking love The Contortionist. They’ve been a primary listening adventure for me ever since Exoplanet came into existence and they have yet to disappoint. Progression in the best way possible. 💜 We ARE the Language 🙌🏻
I just discovered The Contortionist last year and this confirms that Language and Clairvoyant are my favourite albums all genres included, thanks so much 🖤
I've never been a huge fan of these guys, I like some of their songs but I don't listen to them as much as I listen to some other bands, but this has made me respect them on a whole new level. That was some brilliant musicianship.
Whoever did the mix for this needs to get an award.
facts
All of them have a somewhat understanding in mixing and mastering
Plus you need to try to achieve maximum sound clarity whenever singing or playing, they fuck all shits up.
seriously, sounds smoothhhhhhhhhh
Few issues with it but otherwise it sounds lovely! Must have been a monster to work on!!!!
As a drummer, this is the kind of band we can only dream to get to be a part of.
Totally agree man.
Truth
as a musician in general
As a guitarist, this is the kind of drum parts I can only dream of. Don't give a shit about guitar solos, but a well structured drum part is lovely.
the click track in every participant's IEM mix doesn't exactly hurt either, I'm sure.....

You're in for a treat, my friend!
The contortionist are one of those rare bands that come along that keep evolving and growing more beautifully as time progresses
Tesseract as well.
nah
polaris is nothing compared to altered state
Vzor Yan Definitely. Tesseract doesn't simply improve on old works. They try completely different things. Polaris may not be as good as Altered State, but it's also a completely different style that you can't really compare their older albums to.
Sebastian Tinajero if you think the contortionist are the only band that 'grows' you probably don't listen to that much music
thats become you didnt mature yet, like the band did
This is legit better than the album version. Gives me chills
I do like this version, but it's missing the big chunky disgusting distorted barre chord finish from the album version.
@@kumquatmagoo With a great pair of headphones and the volume loud enough, the bass gives me the same feeling I get from that part
I absolutely agree
my D is legit
It's dope AF don't get me wrong but it's NOT better then the album version but it's definitely close and I do respect your opinion fam 💯🤘🏻

They're seriously sooo talented it's incredible
I listened this song when I gave birth to my daughter...this guys are special.
It was the first thing she heard. That's magical.
Omg wow, this is amazing to hear what a song choice for a birth… blessings to you and your loved ones… you just jerked a tear out of me imagining this. God bless you.
Seeing this performed live was surreal, made me tear up. So beautiful.
Bree Messersmith I can only imagine. Lucky
Those little fills/ghost notes on the snare around 1:50 are beautiful
lel listening to the drums on the song..
the dude is superhuman
The keyboard player is high af and those skills are more doped...
The little da-da-da-da-da-da he does at 4:22 really cements that part for me. Wish it was on the actual track. Love Mike's voice.
It is there, if you listen very carefully
The bass is faded by that Dada shi t... NO GOOD
Tony Hawk's talent knows no bounds. Last week he was pulling 720's at over 50 years old, and now I discover he has the voice of an angel?!
🤣🤣🤣 best comment ever!
Smoothest guitar switch ever haha
+Dhylon Shah I know right! I almost thought he would miss his cue for a second
Haha I watched that bit over a few times
It literally gives me chills every time.
Was just thinking that lol
Pretty classy owning a 7 string acoustic and 7 string semi acoustic, I must admit
they look so focused i just hope their having fun still
Yap, you can see the glimpse of Camerons smile at 1:22 :)
I can’t get over how much I love this band. The musicianship is incredible.
Honestly not like anything I’ve ever heard. so good
CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED BAND
The most original prog band of the decade
I credit my ability to sing Micheal, the dude has so many amazing tip videos and vocal lessons he gives, I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am today without his help, and man I can’t say this enough this band is scary good
The first time I saw them live at a festival , they made 150 000 people quiet and walk slowly towards their stage. Magical \m/
This is so beyond incredible. Some of the truest musicians of this generation.
Such an utterly enthralling song and when, played in this format, it somehow rises further.
Beautiful man
I wish all their music was like this, absolutely cosmic.
Ugh this makes me so happy I could cry. And dat baaaaasss!!
...playeeeeeeer!!
is what you really meant isnt it?
:-D :-D :-P :-P
I think she legitimately likes the bass, because it sounds phenomenal.
Bass is boss here
OMG when the guitars switch.... the timing.... WOW.
Absolutely mesmerizing, relaxing, inspiring...
I swear, if one day, Michael Lessard produce an r'n'b projet, I'll buy it and it will be the most beautiful project ever.
If you check out his Instagram, he has teasers posted of something he's been working on that sounds a bit like it.
+tinkoasd dude, almost my exact thoughts exactly! lol i remember hearing him on the newest album for the first time and thinking " this fucking dude would best any male rnb singer alive today!" and i would probably buy it an an rnb album he made too.
+tinkoasd listen to How to Dress Well and see if it's up your alley
Sanskar Wagley
You fuggin with us? Ill check it out bnro. Ty.
I think Frank Ocean is one of his biggest influences vocally.
Their whole discography is just one absolutely wild song after another.
This song, something about it is perfection.
I honestly dont know what happens to me when I listen do these guys... It seems to transport or transcend me to another place, another time, dimension, I dont even knwo how to say it... just beautiful. Congrats!
same...their music is filled with just passion and love unlike most the music nowadays. Love you brother!
The snare. That's it.
Yes
Can't forget the bass
It does sound sound like someones smacking it with a flat hand, but i wouldnt say its bad or anything.
I would say this is a very bass heavy song. once the song gets going, the bass is very prevalent, and is quite loud in this mix.
I think he meant bass as in the EQ, like treble, middle and bass.
1:52 Sweet Jesus that drum fill
Broke a million, finally!! A few thousand are from myself I’m certain 😅
This masterpiece deserves 10fold or more than it has!
larcsword890 I certainly appreciate this! I’ve never heard of Leprous but I will certainly check them out now! You say you’re a musician, as am I! What do you play??
love the bass tone
This really shows the strength in the composition itself. Amazing.
The original blew my mind, but this was moving on a whole other level. Just amazing.
Holy shit, the Baca boys do it again.
Incredible
And this is the type of music I've been wanting to play with people but I can't find the right people to help me.
exactly
+Daley Radford I think the hardest one to patch up when trying to play like this band is the vocalist and the keyboardist.
+ralorox

I meant instrumentally please go listen to my music im a itunes artist my names Daley M. Radford
yo you ever heard of Mestis
2:54 has to be in the top 3 most beautiful moments in any musical arrangement ever.
I cry to this song, it speaks to my soul. Absolutely beautiful
I love the psychedelic intro and feel of this tune.
truely a magical band. I saw them live last month at the Brighton Music Hall when they came to Boston. Was my first ever concert. And i couldnt have asked for a better one.
Daniel Cannata damnit I missed it
Could listen to this song a million times and not get sick of it, the vibe in the room must have been amazing❤️
Yes indeed :)
Cameron seems like the kind of guy that would go for a haircut, unintentionally get a mullet, not say anything to the barber about it, and still tip him.
And here I thought it couldn't get any better. You guys are the future :D
props to the mixing engineer, this sounds so much better than anything i heard in a while
and the contortionist guys, they're out of this world
thank you for this beautiful experience
The odds of 5 dudes getting together, then creating together, then perfecting together, and finally performing togetherness...thank you gents 💪🎹🎤🎸🎼
can't get over how good this sounds

One of the most talented band out there.
i just saw these guys live and it was such a great experience!
wafa wafa!
Wobbuffet
Saaaame. these guys absolutely blew me away.
With dgd? Where at?
xiSpeedy
Yep, as well as Good Tiger and Hail the Sun. Missed the opener, White Noise I believe. Cats Cradle, NC.
yes I saw them all at the Norva , in Virginia, my first time seeing all of them live actually , good show :)
from 1:50 till 2:20, one of the best snare works I've ever seen! Amazing job!!!!
This sounds like constellations pulsing into infinite brightness
true friendship and musicianship in one room
I have watched this video at least once a day for the past 3 weeks.
I'm hearing this version for the first time, I love the original but I think this might be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Absolutely perfect in every way.
Mike's vibrato is unreal.
TOOL waited too long, the contortionist is taking up the empty space. Loving them more and more
Amen brother!
And while Tool flopped with Fear Inocculun, The contortionist is still great.
Very different vibes, though
@@HersgoryJigurda fear inoculum most definitely did not flop
EggCore I will definitely second this. Fear Inoculum definitely didn’t flop. The Contortionist is pretty great too though don’t get me wrong.
Flop? Naah mate, it's absolutely awesome on a different scale. I love contortionist, can't compare to tool. Sound too different, I don't even know why you brought Tool up in the first place 🙂
I get chills at the beginning of this song, original version or this one.
I remember seeing these guys opening for Born Of Osiris once without knowing who they were and they blew me away and since then I became a huge fan.
Think about a "Geocentric confusion" rediscovered please guys it would be amaaaaazing
Skye117 YES PLEASEEE
Skye_Exol_ That and Feedback Loop together would be some amazing
That snare tone gives me life
This song is transcendent!!! This band is amazing, but this version of this song just takes me somewhere only a few songs and chemicals ever have!!!
Quanta qualidade, cara. Descobri hoje e já virei fã. Sensacional!
I wish my ego didn't get in the way growing up, was hard for me to get into clean vocals for metal ish music. Now I love it, need it.
Ever since I bought language years ago, it always works it's way back into my rotation. One of my favorite albums of the last ten years. Absolutely brilliant.
You're a guitar wizard, Harry
Feel ready to cry after hearing that
who knew the engineer from prometheus could sing so well
Hahaha he just grew a bit of hair xD
3:20
Guitar harmonies have achieved infinite sickness-density.
This dude is the greatest hope for rock and roll singers.
This is song is a miracle but...
...I shit in my pants every time I see Cameron at 2:35 grabbing his guitar and start playing immediately after wear it.
Woow, now that is some observation. I've seen this video many times now, but Ive always missed that detail ! :0
Idk if they did multiple takes of the song, regardless he’s cutting it close lol
@@tubadude07 It definitely looks like the vocalist was watching him because right when he puts on the guitar he looks towards Michael then the camera immediately cuts to the singer who was glancing towards the guitarist for a split second before looking away
No words for this magestic thing.. Thanks for existing The Contortionist!! 💎🙌
Makes me feel like I am sitting on the moon. Enjoying the view
This is now part of my daily routine. I don't think that any work of music has had the same effect that this does on me.

Ok, this session is just ridiculous. All the nuance, these guys are super talented.
One of the best. In a range with all af the great prog-bands. It is a pleasure to listen to them.
That bass tone is... Other worldly
The feels... sounds like music, smells like music, feels like music - drift with the ebb and flow of intuition. Cannot wait for the 2nd album!
Absolutely obsessed with this band

I am, stunned and in love omfg

I didn't listen to this version till now.. It's like listening to a new song altogether. Contortionist is pure love
The rhythmic precision of the drumming!!!!!!
6:05 That was super unexpected but amazing!
He schould do more False Chord stuff in general, sounds great!
Fantastic drummer. Amazing musicians all around. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I will not let this song rest. 🤌😮💨😮💨😮💨🔥
even with the original one, can't stop listening, again ... and again ...
