Between Daniel Tompkins and Ashe O'Hara, TesseracT's had the unique privilege of working with some of the best vocalists prog has to offer. Absolutely killer, both of them.
Can't believe this was just over a decade and several albums ago. Such an incredible performance. Seeing Tesseract live pretty soon and I'm sure they'll kill it. Part of me will be wishing that Ashe was up there with them.

Daniel is a great singer is the face of the Tesseract - but Ashe put such a great emotion on this album that, and in my view, no one will reach. Every melody of the guitars, bass and drums marking - comes into perfect timing. I hope the band continue like this forever and that one day come to Brazil. Sure I'll cross hundreds of km to see the concert.
Ae Luca's. Bem falado.

AterrMD Ashe took over a few years back I think. Dan did vocals on "One", Ashe did "Altered State". Both are great vocalists but I think Dan is better suited to Skyharbor and Ashe to TesseracT
iFlare I agree with you on which singer fits which band there. Ashe's other bands and solo stuff is really great as well.. And I am really impressed with Daniel's track for another project called In Colour (weareincolour) both singers are great!
One of the greatest rock/metal songs of all time, IMHO. The whole album is just a masterpiece, right up there with Lateralus, Crack the Skye, A sun that never sets, ...
You know what I really don't get? Not that some people hate and some people love the clean vocals. But that none of those 'clean vocal fans' have actually spend some time reading upon the band and learning that: Ashe once stated that: " With ‘One’ they felt they had to have harsh vocals in order to be accepted by the community. But, they’ve never really wanted to be that type of band." And Amos Williams(bass player for those who don't know anything) said that: - the decision to drop harsh vocals entirely from future material was an unconscious collective decision by the band and this made the search for a new vocalist extremely hard; his explanation was that many vocalists with an all clean style do not want to live the "metal" lifestyle of regular touring, or do not enjoy metal music enough to want to take part in a band in TesseracT's style. [Wikipedia quotes with their own sources] The question would remain if that now that they have Dan back, they still want to get back on the harsh vocals, I doubt it honestly. Maybe some small parts just to spice it up but it seems like they've grown quite fond of their sound without it.
Robert Fennis Nice approach. However as good as Dan for scream vocals, his clean vocals don't suit Tesseract as much as Ash. I think they might need somebody else.
Robert Fennis Amos did a AMA not so long ago, he stated that they would put harsh vocals if a part needs it but wont definitely make it predominent on the new album as they did for One
***** You know what. It's been a month since I wrote this and actually love "One" all over again. Dan's clean vocals are really good. I mean Ashe is another dimension but I have realized they are totally different and both equally good. I listen to concealing fate sequel at least 2 times a day now. I realised I just didn't like Dan trying to sing Ashe's part. That seems out of place.
Wow, how cool Jay Postones plays the drums, just absolutely amazing. The Brits have some really excellent musicians. Frost, Haken, Porcupine Tree, just to name a few, not to forget the excellent drummer Gavin Harrison.
@@hugorezende199 well spottend. It is just so incredible what Gavin is able to play, no question asked. But I am really flashed by Ashe's performance an exceptional singer!
After the video was over i sat and stared into the screen for around 30 secs. That only happened to me once before, and that was at a classical concert. There are no words for this mastery of music and instrument. Bravo Gentlemen!
Honestly I can't stop listening to this album. Literally since the day I got it I can still just go back to it and listen to it all the way through. For me this is hard to do because generally most albums have that one song or two I just can't get into, but this has no song I wouldn't listen to. So to all the guys in Tesseract keep up the great work!
grapereaper1 That's really not a smart thing to say because everyone experiences music differently. The way someone is attracted by a song could be entirely different to yourself. Nothing by TesseracT is as intricate and complex as CAFO. I recommend Singularity, it's very groovy and it's the first song I heard (even though it was on a vine) and it got me into them
I totally agree. I have listened to the album easily over 100 times and I still can't tell you all the names of the songs by listening. This album is ONE piece of art to me. I just listen to it straight through every single time. The textures and dynamics are amazing. It is an utter masterpiece, in my opinion.
Brian Scalise the first song I listened to was singularity, I thought there was a chick singing with him lol, not the only one I'm sure but now I know better. This guy is seriously talented. Resist is my fav ever ever.
One of the best live performances I've seen, so don't hesitate if you get the chance! :) He have recently started to offer one on one lessons on his tours - if you get the chance, get one! One of the most inspiring lessons I've ever had!
I can understand how some metalheads might not like Tesseract as they have such a jazz fusion flavor mixed in with progressive metal and ambient sounds. Such a random mix that displays true musical skill. They are good at what they do that's for sure.
Jazz fusion? Hahaha, yeah OK. You should make sure that the phrases you use are appropriate. Tesseract is no where in the realm of jazz fusion. They're approach to melody can be unorthodox, but there are just a few instances and they don't sound very jazzy.
Cameron Fischer That's absolutely not jazz drums, and I say that as a big jazz fan. It's just very robust and technical rock beats. Heavy prog influence. You can be a great drummer without being a jazz drummer.
I agree. Whilst they may not sound very jazzy to some, they sure enough apply alot of jazzy theory and their approach is pretty jazz-like if you ask me. Nevertheless it's an insanely great style of music and that's what matters, right people? :)
It's 2022. Cannot believe that I've heard of them just a few days ago for the very first time. Can't stop listening to all of their albums since - over and over again. That's more than just music...
@@gustavoflorio5383 It's called musicality. If you need "manliness" to curb your suppressed homosexuality, go listen to Five Finger Death Punch or some shit.

@@gustavoflorio5383 Fuck you dude. Why should you have any reason to call someone a pathetic dork for enjoying something that sounds pleasing to their ear? Music is entirely about subjectivity, and he is just as entitled to his opinion as you are to yours. Besides I happen to enjoy the vocals too, so fuck you x2...
Dan is a great clean singer, impossibly solid. but I don't think they would have EVER pulled such a masterpiece off without Ashe's influence in the mix. they, and we, are forever in debt to consequence for bringing these guys together at that certain moment in time.
True! I don't think we could have gotten an album like Altered State if it wasn't for Ashes involvement. I honestly think he was better off in Tesseract and Dan should have stayed in Skyharbor! Blinding white noise was insane!
This album was perfectly pieced together, and Ashe really couldn't have complemented the elements in a more magical way. The climactic energy and the way it forms is just perfect. This will be a tough album to top for sure.
Listened to the album in my car about 10 times... MOSTLY NOCTURNE... finally hearing this and WOOOW... unreal. This Resist hit me like a truck and now I'm going to be listening on repeat.
To this date, still one of the single-most interesting studio recordings. Everything just aligns perfectly; the organic nerve of a live recording, the musical interconnection between the individual members, a divine mix, and to-die-for mastering. With progressive/djent being seen as mechanical as it does, this recording is a true testament as to how much feel is embedded into the genre when executed by true musicians.
I've scrolled probably through half the comments to this video just to absorb all the good vibes emanating therefrom, and your comment was the only one that made me giggle and feel cozy at the same time. I know the feeling you describe so well, and what I'm looking for in music. To let your entire self resonate with the divine vibrations that fill your ears. After all, scientifically speaking, it quite literally makes your brain resonate in harmony.
Although I have a history of enjoying prog orck/metal (Rush, Yes, Zappa) I kind of dropped out of the loop. But this album, hits everything on all cylinders. Vocals, lyrics, musicianship, all are on point. For me at least. A rare gem. Also, that Hugh Grant really knows how to play bass
This is possibly the greatest 15 minutes of music out currently. So many bands these days try so hard to be the most technical for no reason, instead of focusing on making good songs. Much respect Tesseract.
@@joegalford2319 Its definitely not the easiest music to perform or write, they're all incredible musicians. But they're all not individually wanking about as many notes as possible. Bands that do that are very talented, but for me I never can sit and listen to them for hours like I can with this band.
How the hell was I Today Years Old 10/24/20 when I found this incredible masterpiece of a band? My god, the rock I was under must have been huge. I was watching a RUclips video of the 10 beat bassists and Amos Williams was right there. I had to check Tesseract out and I am here to stay!!!!

The question would remain if that now that they have Dan back, they still want to get back on the harsh vocals, I doubt it honestly. Maybe some small parts just to spice it up but it seems like they've grown quite fond of their sound without it.
Robert Fennis Nice approach. However as good as Dan for scream vocals, his clean vocals don't suit Tesseract as much as Ash. I think they might need somebody else.
Robert Fennis Amos did a AMA not so long ago, he stated that they would put harsh vocals if a part needs it but wont definitely make it predominent on the new album as they did for One
hookey1000 Get outta here mate. Dan's clean vocals are amazing, which was 80% of "One".
Robert Fennis Fuck, I wanna be the singer for TesseracT q~q I'm a clean vocalist.
Gavin is on top of the food chain.
hands down the most unique drummer of today.
@@hugorezende199 well spottend. It is just so incredible what Gavin is able to play, no question asked. But I am really flashed by Ashe's performance an exceptional singer!
A 4d tesseract can be unfolded into eight 3d cubes, just as a 3d cube can be unfolded into 6 2d squares, and this is a fantastic live performance.
Excelent ghost notes, damn Postones its so good!
After the video was over i sat and stared into the screen for around 30 secs. That only happened to me once before, and that was at a classical concert. There are no words for this mastery of music and instrument. Bravo Gentlemen!
Thats what happened the first time I heard Tesseract.
Halfway through 2022 and it's still such a great album
Honestly I can't stop listening to this album. Literally since the day I got it I can still just go back to it and listen to it all the way through. For me this is hard to do because generally most albums have that one song or two I just can't get into, but this has no song I wouldn't listen to. So to all the guys in Tesseract keep up the great work!
Give me a song that would really get me into them. Do they have anything that grabs you the way the CAFO from Animals as Leaders does?
grapereaper1 That's really not a smart thing to say because everyone experiences music differently.
Totally agree with you dude!
Brian Scalise the first song I listened to was singularity, I thought there was a chick singing with him lol, not the only one I'm sure but now I know better. This guy is seriously talented. Resist is my fav ever ever.
Jay is such a great drummer. Would love to see him live at some point. He's really changed and inspired the way I play now. Goliath Band.
If you ever have the opportunity to do so, don't think it twice. Best live performance I've ever seen in my life.
One of the best live performances I've seen, so don't hesitate if you get the chance! :)
He have recently started to offer one on one lessons on his tours - if you get the chance, get one! One of the most inspiring lessons I've ever had!
This three songs are still some of my favorites from that album.
2:06, Love that quick capo removal...
I Love 15min song with no variations and no variations in tempo.
wow
There's 1.9 million views right now but I feel I've watched it 1.8 million times. Still, I get chills even today. This thing is a masterpiece.
Ashe has such an insane voice. It's ethereal. I really loved him with Tesseract.
This is one of the most underrated singers in metal.
I honestly have no idea how many times I've watched this. 🤘😄
You're not alone. Me too
Same
listened to it twice this morning. Still as bad ass as ever.
JazerMedia Have you ever actually stopped and listened to Tesseract's drummer? He is a jazz drummer, period. That's why he's so incredibly good.
Cameron Fischer That's absolutely not jazz drums, and I say that as a big jazz fan. It's just very robust and technical rock beats. Heavy prog influence. You can be a great drummer without being a jazz drummer.
uhmmmm cynic...
I agree. Whilst they may not sound very jazzy to some, they sure enough apply alot of jazzy theory and their approach is pretty jazz-like if you ask me. Nevertheless it's an insanely great style of music and that's what matters, right people? :)
Never get bored with this performance
It's 2022. Cannot believe that I've heard of them just a few days ago for the very first time. Can't stop listening to all of their albums since - over and over again. That's more than just music...
It would be a dream come true if Ashe and Dan shared the stage for some songs.
Hexes the song has to be resist of course.I cant even imagine what it sounds like.
Ashe has got a voice like an onion, makes me cry every time.
These fucking cringe vocals could not been more unmanly!
@@gustavoflorio5383 It's called musicality. If you need "manliness" to curb your suppressed homosexuality, go listen to Five Finger Death Punch or some shit.
@@gustavoflorio5383 BRUH
@@djentrification1631 I'm not talking about his sexuality, you fucko.
Musicality now is a sterilized clean vocal sustaining long notes? If so, you people don't know shit about musicality.
The guy is full of himself thinking this is the most beautiful vocals ever... what a pathetic dork!
По сей день слушаю) уже 12 лет фанатею, братья, не важно какой вокалист поёт, это пушка!!!
Totally agree
God. Chills every time I listen. What a fucking masterpiece.
You know these boys are good at what they do when 14 minutes doesn't seem like 14 minutes
I've recently gotten MADLY into Tesseract and Animals as Leaders... it's restored my faith in modern metal.
That voice. It’s so clean and pure.
Best vocalist they ever had, this guy really has feeling and fantastic lyrics!
Listened to the album in my car about 10 times... MOSTLY NOCTURNE... finally hearing this and WOOOW... unreal. This Resist hit me like a truck and now I'm going to be listening on repeat.
9 years and still brings me chillz. Can't believe they wrote a 14 min masterpiece
This guy has a soul voice. You don't hear enough of them in Metal nowadays. Sounds great.
These guys are still so next level
No words to describe how BEAUTIFUL it is
To this date, still one of the single-most interesting studio recordings. Everything just aligns perfectly; the organic nerve of a live recording, the musical interconnection between the individual members, a divine mix, and to-die-for mastering. With progressive/djent being seen as mechanical as it does, this recording is a true testament as to how much feel is embedded into the genre when executed by true musicians.
i wish i could give your comment more than one like
This band's albums are my holy music. My hymns. I dare not stop the song prematurely. I sit and listen in reverence.
I still keep coming back here.
This band is absolutely mind blowing. This singer is by far the best that ive ever had the privilege of listening to
Although I have a history of enjoying prog orck/metal (Rush, Yes, Zappa) I kind of dropped out of the loop. But this album, hits everything on all cylinders. Vocals, lyrics, musicianship, all are on point. For me at least. A rare gem.
Also, that Hugh Grant really knows how to play bass
Almost 10 years later still a freaking máster piece ❤️🔥
Since I discovered these guys in 2010 my perspective on music has changed on so many levels thanks to them. What a band :D
This is possibly the greatest 15 minutes of music out currently. So many bands these days try so hard to be the most technical for no reason, instead of focusing on making good songs. Much respect Tesseract.
Lol, I'm reading this as I hear some odd time signature and going "wow, that's pretty technical"
You couldn't have worded it better!
@@joegalford2319 Its definitely not the easiest music to perform or write, they're all incredible musicians. But they're all not individually wanking about as many notes as possible. Bands that do that are very talented, but for me I never can sit and listen to them for hours like I can with this band.
Perfect comment! The British Tesseract, are still a young band.
this drummer dude is just phenomenal
the album title is perfect, it's so beautiful just listening to this in the dark gives me an out of body experience
that's a mighty smooth capo drop.
@Ida Grace WELCOME BOYS!
In my opinion, Ashe was perfect for this album. Altered State is an amazing album =)
