My dad died last week... He was himself a brilliant musician, and I was playing this video on the TV while he was sick, when he came down the stairs, asked me who they were and told me: "Suenan muy bien" (Spanish for "they sound really good").
Having his approval of my taste of music always meant the world to me, and this was the last thing we listened to together.
So, cheers for such an amazing band and amazing mix, and this video will forever bring me good memories.
I’ve been in your exact spot before, man. Hang in there, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.
A big hug to you, Diego.
Sorry to hear that, hope you are okay. It still amazes me that music continues to be the thing that brings us all together. Whether in the here and now, or those lost in memory.
Does he have any music media up that features him playing?
Sorry for your loss and thanks for sharing
Hugh Grant is one of the best bass players we've ever seen.
Lord Elrond on the bass.
i came down here just to look for this comment ahahah
was thinking exactly the same thing first I saw this 😂😂
I knew I wouldn’t have to scroll far to find my exact thoughts 😂

0:06 - Smile/The Arrow
7:10 - King
14:09 - Orbital
16:21 - Juno
The best RollOut
Why is this mastered almost even better than the actual album version?
Because you only really get good at the material when you have to play live. There’s a shit load you can do in the studio to make a good performance without involving the performer. These guys were playing this stuff live on stage together for a while before the lockdown that’s what makes them so good together.
@@metalavenger23 hes talking about the mix, not the performance. But yeah, the performance is great. They actually didn't have enough time to perfect Sonder; the mix is a bit off, and Daniel had a really bad virus while recording vocals. They were kind of rushed to get it finished, which is also why it's so short
Thank God were finally getting live drums again for T5
0:05 Smile/The Arrow
7:10 King

I'm so happy that they played Orbital ❤❤❤❤

My life wont be complete till I see this band live
They're the best sounding live band I've ever seen
as others said, they are so fucking good live
I’ve seen them live and I agree to your comment
They are the best band I have ever seen live, they are honestly the closest thing to living through poetry and magic.
Dude it is so awesome! I had never really heard of them when I saw them open for Between the Buried and Me. It blew me away! My brother and I were in the front row and Daniel put his foot in between us on the railing and leaned into the crowd while singing. Truly a moment I will never forget!
The bass in king and the drums in juno are a gift humanity doesn't deserve
Very class this rythmic sections, precise, great musicians
True…
Their singer is wicked good
The best part about TesseracT is the TessercaT.
I'd love to see some TessercaT merch. I'd rock the hell out of a t shirt

You'll do a live show next? ;)
And so do you guys 😎
@@ODGuitars This right here. Spiritbox quarantine show next please.
You guys are the pioneers of the internet performance band, tesseract is amazing but you guys are paving the way for the new age. Congrats!
I’ve never sat down to listen to this band, but I finally gave them a chance. These guys are life changing.
true
Same here. How did I miss these guys 1st time around?? Now I'm hooked and in awe of their quality.
Gentlemen, welcome to the club.
@@ArshakAvag *djentlemen
1 year later. I am thankful your life is changed.
absolutely blown away by how good that was. I came here because I was looking into the Ibanez AFR basses and wound up sitting this entire concert. Came in not knowing about TesseracT, left a massive fan!
1 person was offended by how good the mix was
Maybe that person was disturbed by 2:38 😂
It is perfect
Shame everytime i've seen them live IRL the drum tone is terrible :(
@@BlastBeatsFTW Probably because you're accustomed to hearing the drum-replaced samples on the records, and when playing live you hear the acoustic drums instead.
Espen Moe I am accustomed to hearing their album tones. I can even tell you what sample packs and what individual cymbals they used on Altered State. I can also tell you that Postones Crush kit live sounds like ass and the balance is almost always off in their live shows. Having seen them three times.

I'll never forget that moment when I was just calmly watching Tesseract opening their show, and Dan suddenly jumping off of the stage and suddenly running straight towards me into me starting the mosh pit. The adrenaline was amazing and it changed the way I experienced the show. Such an amazing live act, these guys are.
Dude how many years ago was that. That's phuckin amazing!
holy ravioli is there a recording of that live on youtube?
Happened at the show they did last night during Juno.
Dan's vocals never disappoint, such a great singer
Tesseract and Devin Townsend quarantine concerts have destroyed everything else. The mix on this one though, sheesh.
The live stream from Disillusion was pretty damn amazing. If you haven't heard them and you like Tesseract and Townsend check them out. My favorite progressive metal band.
@@rattlhed1 where can i find that band?
@ there you go:
ruclips.net/video/-pk7Nad5KH8/видео.html
check out Hubris. THey've been putting out top notch mixes during the lockdown as well.
Well the biggest thing here is he’s using a elec kit with fully processed samples from the album sessions. Everything else is easy to mix normally, its the drums that are make or break.
Jay throws in polyrhythms like he's going for a stroll. It makes no sense how easy it is for him to hold time all over the place like that
Limb independence; once you've developed that and worked out the groove you're playing in, it's a flow state. Jay has some serious chops 💖
Maybe he's Father Time
It’s muscle memory....and of course serious skill and practice
Gibby Metal. & Shuriko Gaming Daddy Time ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Pretty sure he's not just throwing them in. They have been rehearsed into the ground
Love that the drummers setup is 50% metal and 50% PCMR.
I’m sorry if this question wastes your time and makes me look stupid, at the same time. What does pcmr stand for? :). Thanks
@@palmtreeproductions2839 "PC master race" because he has a really cool Computer on the floor behind him
Roland vDrums are the shit, I have had a kit for years now and its held up and been very dynamic with the capability to upload custom files to make new drum sounds.
Hi Vsauce , Michael here
Man, if I could just absorb like a sponge just 1% of the talent and knowledge this guys have...
You would be Asking Alexandria.
This is solid proof of how powerful music is, it is not defeated by any crisis, it does not fade because of distance between people. Bless this band forever, it has left an eternal mark on my life.
Nothing can defeat music. Absolutely nothing.
@@ScramblesNBD You should check out Voices from the Fuselage :D Tesseract is currently at its best and I would change nothing about it.
I think it's more solid proof of how powerful technology is. Doing this in 1820 would have had wildly different results.
@@groan_of_tedium I guess. That doesn't sound so poetic haha. Sure technology helps but we are all driven by this need for music, otherwise we wouldn't be here by the tens of thousands. :D
AMEN!!! These guys are MINDBLOWING!!!
The choir session for this album was a lot of fun, I'm glad I got to be a small part of it!
You are a part of epicness, my friend! Great job!
Dude you guys sound absolutely amazing!!! They made a good choice picking you guys cos you make King the song it is for me :)
How did that come about?
I'd like to hear your part of the story
@@Beestification I would assume they just got in touch with Randy Slaugh (he's done previous choral/orchestral work for Periphery, Devin Townsend, and others and is part of White Moth Black Butterfly with Dan) and then Randy arranged the session and got the choir together. I was working at the studio where the session happened and didn't even know what it was going to be until I showed up to set up for the session. I was the assistant engineer for the choir session on this project, but Randy has had me help out on the P4 choir session as well as some backing vocals for Anup Sastry's latest album.

Being a French Bassist and knowing that Amos was in France makes me happy.
il vit dans une ptite ville de haute loire
@@baptisteparis121 oui je lui ai pose la question sur Twitter il m'avait répondu ^^
… what?
Lmfao
He lives on earth too does that make you feel good ?
This band, when I first started listening to them, was a soothing transition to a horrible breakup and starting to work for myself - as One, ironically. Altered State helped pass through college and give me strength and hope to push forward despite the pressures and feelings to giving up. Polaris was the transition from college to the real world, filling in the gap of what I had learned into what I was about to endure. Tears were shed, barriers were broken, and my world forever changed, but the music kept my spirit together and my body from crumbling to pieces. Sonder solidified those feelings of perseverance, and only strengthen my resolve to push forward.
This just created a new dimension to transcend beyond the lengths of my emotions, to set them aside and let the world fly. It was a reminder that despite the lockdown, enjoy the little things and remember that whatever is ailing or frustrating you will pass. But the music will thrive and be the voice we were meant to hear.
Thank you guys. Your fans are forever indebted to you. With the strength, heart, spirit, and mind, I am grateful as you have saved me hundreds of times over. 💜
Same experience. They are a gift to my soul really. Nothing else out there was resonating. Meshuggah was my catalyst to the Mind Machine, TesseracT catalyzed my Soul to my Spirit Machine, if that makes any sense.
Seriously wish Amos would read books for audiobooks.
Well, he did a spoken word part in a BTBAM track!
@@KevinThomas1208 woaaaah, what song is that?
holy heck what a serene sound, i'd like to hear some spoken word shit on other tesseract releases
The mix here is insane. This is essentially just an alternate version/take of the songs on the album. Perhaps a notch better imo, with Dan's superbly improved screams. Choice 👌
Acle is brilliant. I had the pleasure of working with him on mastering my band's latest album and we were floored by the results.
Absolutely, the screams give me chiiiiillllssssss
unreal!!!
I prefer the mix here by a large amount!
I like hearing the different versions. Means they aren't just pulling the same studio recordings.
I remember my dad giving me a cd saying " these guys aren't crap like everything you listen to" ( he's not a metal fan) that was tesseract he was speaking of close to 11 years ago. These guys have never disappointed...truly an amazing none decaying sound. Once again...well done boys.
Cool dad
Yeah your dad's a dude. Listen to him 🤗
Imagine berating your child for their music taste
Today on "scenarios that 100% didn't happen".
i assume you used to listen to rap? i was the same, my parents never really approved of my music tastes and i did a 180 in my music tastes in 2017
The feeling, the technique, the performance, the raw emotion. These guys are in a whole different level. Happy to be alive at the same as they are and be able to experience this.
That groove at the end of Smile is the best bit and I hope you guys start doing that bit live cos it fucking slaps
@Charles Domicolo I was crunching my face at that one... badass groove
Never wanted to pick up bass so bad in my life

There's something about the music and Dan's emotional voice that totally gets me.
I just discovered this band. It's crazy that other people feel this way too 🤣🤘
You are absolutely right. I get high and listen to them and am transported into another dimension. No other band brings me to these gorgeous places. They are definitely tapping into something that crosses time and space ❤️❤️❤️
Jay Postones grooves on a different level I’ve had a ton of different drummers influence me in 30 years of playing but few motivate me to play like Jay.
I'm a guitar player myself... But the bass on this one is just phenomenal - and what a beatiful instrument!
It’s like these guys are miming when you see them live. Not a note out of place, absolutely the best band I’ve ever seen in my life. And they’re from the UK too! Rare
Man Dan's screams have gotten so much thicker and better, sounds amazing!
Jay postones. The Masters animal of ghost notes!... yeaaah, i love it 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

Was awesome, although I wish they played Beneath My Skin/Mirror Image :(
Yes... Beneath my Skin is my favorite
I'm going by the excuse that Acle simply can't play the intro harmonics if his nails aren't a specific length (apparently)
Me too.
The thing I love most about this group is that they can be so solitary, but the energy they bring is just so powerful. Even though they all are calm and collected, you listen to their music and just feel like you're being lifted to another plane of existence.
This type of video is brilliant. It’s a concert to keep us fans entertained in these tough times, but it’s also a personal message to us from Dan and the guys. Describing to us how much we mean to the band as fans, and telling us what it means for them to be able to perform for us. I thank every member of this band and every one of us fans for making an event like this happen. Hopefully it’s not the last cause the mix for this live performance is heavenly. Their performance in general is heavenly though so it doesn’t matter, I just want to hear them play live again.

I wonder how especially famous bands survive such a break in their cycle - almost every band in interviews shows that their whole mantra is recording, concerts, recollection. But now a whole year of almost just recollection and writing, almost all the rituals of rock'n'roll are gone. I bet we will see an explosion in the course of the next years, explosion of built up ideas and creations being pumped into the ether but also an explosion of split-up bands. It's a huge toll. The moment the "bass wizard" started talking tho, i knew this band has at least one solid anchor if not more. :3 Great to hear all of your guys' voices, really love the narration and the quality of it.
First time I listen to your material guys. After watching a Kmac cover. I am liking TesseracT
