I love drummers that know what they are going to do measures before it happens with confidence oozing from their veins. This guy kicks ass. Saw these guys over the weekend and can't get enough of their music!!
Just..........wow, that`s all I can say great rhythm, groove, fills and breakdowns I love when drummers show their emotion. You sir are a pleasure to listen to and watch. My favorite right now.
I went yesterday to the rehearsal room and started practicing my grooves and after two hours, I threw away my drumsticks while cursing at my lack of speed. I think I just wanted to give up and just enjoy your videos instead of trying to be a better drummer. Now, I'm watching again this video and I say, hell, just watching what you do makes my hands beg to be playing again, even though I still have a lot to learn. Thank you Anup.
I could watch this a thousand times. The feeling is massive hearing you play drums. I feel so much content listening. There is none like you, Anup Sastry. #baap
Well, I've seen this room many times. This is the place where great drummers are born and nurtured.... like Alex Rudinger and Travis Orbin. This is Anup Sastry's Drum Room!
This is the best metal drumming I've ever seen in my life... Your grooves are super heavy and sooo dang clean! The dynamics are out of this world too. Such a pure joy to watch this. Thank you for this bro! ✊
asdrummer2008 You're welcome! :) Hope you'll come to Europe with Intervals. This time do not exclude Czech Republic :D And only your signature on my Guiding Lights copy is missing, so another reason to come :D :)
It's always cool when I find out that two people that I like work together - I got the doom eternal cover recommended to me by youtube and loved it - I'm a big TesseracT fan - I also started listening to Skyharbor because of Dan - Now I find out you are a part of that band
No joke never seen someone make drumming look so easy. Even when you hit the cymbals I feel like you have you're own way of doing it. I don't know it's crazy!
my favorite on the album as well. Never knew this song was so complex AS! never cease to amaze me my friend. 4:19 gives me goosebumps everytime, this band has that capability that most dont
Yay! My favorite off the album. Thanks for the awesome drumming and inspiring me to be better. Also cheers cause i'm mixed with Indian too! woop woop. Much love from Trinidad.
Need more like this I keep looking for more nothing has come close this song and album never lost replay value , and Anup you are sick! I don’t understand how you got this good, your an inspiration
Just another level man, this is incredible. You somehow make it really technical, really inventive and really interesting but without going over the top and taking away from the overall feel of the song. Its a rare skill, keep it up!
It blows my mind how the intro riff is played by him here (and I presume on the recording and perhaps live when he was still there), but ever since he left, they've just had it on playback during live performances haha! What a brilliant drummer he is.
You need to do a vid explaining how you get such great punchy sound! Cant for the life of me replicate it im missing some obvious tricks or probably simple engineering but you do it right!
Burton Drums Cheers! Thanks a lot! Yea I really do want to make a video of how I mix because I get a lot of questions regarding that. I don't think my mixes are really anything spectacular, but it would be nice to explain it to those who are curious. I've even though about posting pictures of plug-in settings and such on my Facebook... We'll see!!!!!!
asdrummer2008 Thanks for the reply man :) yeah I mean the hardest thing for me is getting things like the snare to be so full on and punchy, its easy in SD but all the hard work is already done for you, but track them yourself and it all changes lol! I hope you get round to it! All the best mate!
Seriously that snare has more punch than Muhammad Ali. It's gotta be something about the bubinga snares cuz Matt Garstka gets almost the same exact punch out of his. Would love to see a picture of those plugins though!
Burton Drums Well I'll tell you exactly what I did in the mix... I used a standard digirack (Pro Tools) 7 band EQ and boosted at 200 Hz by 1.6 dB and at 4.3 kHz by 7.4 dB (shelf). I then also boosted at 4.8 kHz by 2.4 dB. The 200 boost was for a bit of beef and bottom end, and everything up top was for the crack of the snare. I then used a bit of saturation using the SPL TwinTube Processor, which Im usually fairly delicate with. Finally, I used compression using the API 2500 Compressor. Here's a download link to a screen shot of my mix for this video. I've expanded the plugins I used on my 'snare top' mic. You can also get an idea for what I use on my entire drum mix in the background. All of the tracks in blue are drum tracks, and all of the green tracks are summation busses (aux tracks). The yellow track off to the left is the song Im playing to. www.mediafire.com/view/bm75bo9ay74vw29/Screen%20Shot%202015-05-18%20at%203.43.53%20PM%20(2).png

What an honor it must be for Vic Firth and Tama to get the chance to sponsor this video
That hihat choke's depth and control at 0:33 blows my mind. Then again the whole drum section and the song blows my mind...
Semhan Aydin it's so good such a subtle touch to end an insane phrase
Yep he makes sure to choke it at the end of that quarter note. So tasteful. It just completedls the fill so well.

Thank you! \m/
Anup, you are a legend among men, and I applaud you for doing what you do. Thanks for motivating me, it means much more than you could ever know.
Thank you for the kind words!
The mark of a good drummer: small movements, HUGE sound
+MKRocker94 That's the mix/audio engineering...
+Adiaf8oros Nah you can listen past that
He gets good sound quality partly because of how he plays and those beefy MS2's he's playing with.
This album is an absolute masterpiece and it couldn't have been what it is without your powerful and tasteful playing. I am officialy a fanboy.
One of my all time favorites
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I can’t get enough of that album. So brilliant, beautiful and perfect.
3:33 thinking about the meaning of life
I can play 3:22 - 3:52 so easily!
Me too! Nailed it first time..... and I wasn't even behind my kit, lol.
+Rui Carneiro Made me laugh haha lol!!

I am a fan of Anup Sastry and Skyharbor. This is very very good music. thanks.
I love drummers that know what they are going to do measures before it happens with confidence oozing from their veins. This guy kicks ass. Saw these guys over the weekend and can't get enough of their music!!
ANUP your the man. Your one of my favorite drummers of all times.. Never get tired of listening to you jam out.
Just..........wow, that`s all I can say great rhythm, groove, fills and breakdowns I love when drummers show their emotion. You sir are a pleasure to listen to and watch. My favorite right now.
Every time I hear a song from this album I remember how much I love it. You're playing is outrageous.
Never give up!
Just got into Skyharbor recently. They are an awesome band. They deserve way more recognition
Fantastic play through, man. Never stop playing.
I always come to see this video like once a month. Love it.
I could watch this a thousand times. The feeling is massive hearing you play drums. I feel so much content listening. There is none like you, Anup Sastry. #baap
And still one of the best drummers of this generation.
Still finding new things to love about this song with every listen
Anup you are truly a master of your craft

I think what I like best is how relaxed and effortlessly you play. Such a cool style
Every time Anup hits a cymbal, he briefly turns Super Saiyan.

I think my favorite groove out of this song was @2:34. Absolutely great!
