Cut stuff like Cortana actually taking place in High Charity or Halo 2 ending with a human skeleton being found in a Forerunner casket makes me wish that the trilogy were remade, in the sense that Halo 2 included everything Bungie wanted to include to conclude the would-be duology, and 3 included everything that would satisfyingly conclude the now-trilogy
I do wonder if the original trilogy was to remade in the form of Halo 2 anniversary graphics how would the Arbiter discovering the forerunner casket play out especially after the final level Halo? would it be before when he arrives at Earth or after the celebration but before he goes to his ship. Also if they want decanonized Halo 4-Infinite would this scene replace the legendary ending we got in the original halo 3 or what?
@@WyattDucardont have to decanonize it imo can just do both scenes like in todays version where you see what arbiter is up to (and see he finds the casket) and then switch back afterwards to chief "wake me up when you need me" moment

@@WyattDucar the casket was inside the structure on earth which was originally the Ark and apparently the reason humans evolved the way they did so it would either have to go with original Halo 2 or put the reveal somewhere in the current Ark
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer Obvious given what actually happened in Halo 3 that would be tricky let say the reveal somewhere current ark when the arbiter is missing during certain missions of the game or you could have referencing to Chief that he and his men discover something and that he told the shipmaster to take the casket with them as they leave the ark. Either the reveal happen before or after his meeting with Lord Hood at the end of Halo 3 but before he says take us home?
As much as I don't like this level, I love the middle cutscene where Chief reunites with Cortana. It's so heartfelt seeing Cortana so broken after what she went through, only to regain hope when Chief reminded her about promises. Just beautiful. The cut plan for High Charity was so cool! Honestly I didn't quite like how we never got to see the grave Mind or any form of him , felt criminal after seeing him in H2 , all we got is a scene with some tentacles lol
i was always against a huge bossfight against gravemind because he seems like galactus, an entity that you cant beat with rockets, tanks or even giant stalactites. he is everywhere the flood is. but all this makes it sound like it was just an encounter where you needed to push him back and flex your muscles a bit, but he wasnt gone and during the last level he still talks to you and tries to stop you. and only blowing up the entire planet destroys him for good (maybe?) that would have been pretty great honestly.
The Flarbiter boss fight sounds sick, but the scarab v. Gravemind fight sounds like you’d be stuck on a slow moving platform fighting a bunch of flood and I’ve already played the end of Quarantine Zone.
Yeah the gravemind fight would've been quite tedious and boring even with the tension and goal to finally kill Gravemind. But yeah the Arbiter infected fight would be the most fun for that level.
A little fun fact just for fun: quite a few years ago, Marvel bought the rights to produce a few halo comics such as halo uprising, the fall of reach and the halo graphic novel, since then in later marvel comics, marvel has been seen directly refferencing halo, to even adding some halo designs into some of their issues, such as DR doom riding a vehicle that looks identical to the warthog, Colossus holding an oversized halo reach shotgun with a magazine added into it to even characters such as war machine mentioning playing halo
Why would anybody allow that to happen? Don't get me wrong the marvel comic multiverse is great but I do not think that their writers have the capability to bring halo to life the way that dark horse do (as an example)
@@threaders9411 true, but you never know, they could maybe surprise us and come up with something better than then tv show, but with the current state of marvel, they should not put their hands on halo
@axelramirez6201 very true on both parts, whatever they do will be better than the show anything will be better than that. We need the flood back that's for sure
That reminds me of this one issue that was an opening to this event title where Uatu the Watcher is killed and they had to figure out who did it. In the issue you see a collection of weapons that Uatu has collected from various alien races over the years and one of them was the plasma rifle from Halo. I believe this story came out around 2014-2016. I don't know if that lines up with your information but it would explain that reference. Beforehand I thought that was just a neat little reference.
@andrewdau1299 I heard about that but never actually seen it, pretty cool though. I'd like a proper flood graphic novel similar in design to some of the WH 40k tyranid ones, that would be sweet
I mostly enjoy this mission, I always like to fight off Flood a lot for some horror tone. And the level taking place at High Charity that your coming back since Halo 2 now fully covered by Flood biomes where the Gravemind use it to travel through the galaxy. Where your just inside the belly of the beast fighting every Flood enemies to rescue Cortana. Idk why but I always like to come back playing this mission again and wishing for more Flood missions to explore ships that are consumed by the Flood, almost giving Dead Space reference there if by getting a Flood horror game. Which I like to explore more in the High Charity while fighting more enemies. So I enjoy the Cortana mission and wish for more like this. If there’ll be a custom campaign mod to have these maps extended to explore further.
I dont really... see how its legendary is hard, you don't waste your brute shot, keep your precisions on hand for combat forms and keep a sword spare for flood tank forms i honestly didnt die much.
Only difficult thing about it is ammo. I'm the type of player that's gonna clear every single level to the max. And even then, on legendary, my only struggle was keeping ammo, which is not that difficult at the end if you know how to use each weapon for each case; land every long ranged shot and don't forget to weapon-walk all the time and you are good to go. I always thought legendary was difficult for some levels until I started playing with a plan. Then... every level is shockingly easy.
They way that it was phrased... "We didn't have the resources..." ...kinda makes me wonder if they were talking less about development time, and more about *system* resources with the xBox 360, itself.
I kind of doubt it given the sandbox stuff that we got in the ark, the covenant and halo which all show off high enemy density, wide open levels and engine physics. The original plan sounded like it needed a lot of development time and scripting to pull off which would've been impossible with the co-lead quitting
As halo 3 was 7 of the 8 total GB available on dual layer dvds (including multiplayer maps), and this was before day one dlc downloads so it's absolutely possible that disc space was the main reason for cutting levels
@@cosmictreason2242 With that, correct me if I'm misunderstanding your statement. But if they theoretically put Halo 3 across 2 discs. They could've included a lot more of the content they wanted to include originally?
I'm a masochist - I actually really like Cortana. My skills lie in the CQB class of weapons (Flamethrower, Shotguns, Swords, etc) and the Flood are like wet paper in H3 so it's just target practice for me.............. doesn't mean I don't suck at MP tho :(
Another point to flood gate, on your way to the crashed ship elites come down in their pods to assist. If they survive they will jump into the ship with you to assist but they will despawn. Im thinking those elites were going to help you overload the reactor.
I’d have loved to drive the scarab mech ourselves and use the main cannon as well as the secondary one to fight the Gravemind, rather than having Cortana do it with a broken mech at a snail’s pace while we simply fight regular Flood & the occasional gravemind tentacle. The latter is boring.
YEAH! Actually driving it like a real vehicle would've been perfect! You finally get to personally drive the ultimate land weapon that only was a boss to you prior, but now it's YOURS!!!
It's possible as there's a mod called "New Campaign" using assets of High Charity such as the Hanging Gardens and Mausoleum of the Arbiter, but I fear it would be too ambitious to achieve and would crumble halfway through
Man I need to play Halo 3 again. Ideally it would be with my old 360 slimmed version. No fuss. Just plug and play campaign. Haven’t played since spending summers with my brother around 09’. I’m old but Halo was so great at that time.
I agree about blight lands Yes we get them in HW but you don't get the atmosphere or detail you do in FP, just imagine the soundscape you could create being stealthy surround sound wearing headphones, that could be pure horror
I don’t mind the level itself, I just hate that Cortana and Gravemind speaking causes you to slow down to a crawl and makes your vision hardly… visible
Lol, you have to ask if we want more cut content videos? I heard a about Floodship and Cortana being condensed into one, but that was it. I was blown away by everything else you presented.
all the cut content from the original trilogy is the perfect justification for an "extended cut" of the entire trilogy with Bungie's original vision now made possible by modern technology.
its honestly very depressing how the amount of stuff was removed in halo 3 this was a very ambitious mission so yeah i can understand why alot the stuff that happened had happened but i am just a little bit sad that we didnt get the flood arby fight
It would've been so damn cool! All the many different arbiters throughout the centuries of the Covenant all fighting you with different styles and weapons, even tactics like a true ultimate test of your skills.
Cortana is one of my favourite missions because of the story beats. The two parts of the game that stand out most to me are her reaction to the arbiter saving chief (easy to miss, at the end of the level "you two made nice? What else did you do...?") and the cut scene when you actually rescue the her for the well placed call back as a nice rounding point of the story.
Not much people give you credit for you editing. I absolutely love the care you take with the detail of everything, Especially the legacy Halo 2 style font you used for the captions are perfectly done. Amazing job!
A final fight against the Gravemind with a scarab sounds cool on paper, but after hearing you describe how the encounter was supposed to go, I think it would've been clunky and cumbersome to actually play. One thing Bungie generally did NOT do well was boss fights. The three boss battles in Halo 2 (Heretic Leader, Prophet of Regret, and Tartarus) were all underwhelming and forgettable. However, a fight against an army of infected Arbiters sound awesome! I wish that could've been included!
Can you give a couple of examples of good boss fights? I played Gears of War and hated all of the boss fights more than Halo 2, and that's really all of the boss fights I remember.
Man, because of the area of the country I live in we were late to the Xbox Live experience until around 2005 so when Halo 3 came out it was a whole event for my friends and myself. Playing Halo 3 online changed the way my friends and I played games. I appreciated the function in the game where you could record your gameplay. I still have all of my old stuff and the recordings
I remembered that when I was 6 I just could not play Cortana because I was so scared, but after a year I found the courage and when I completed it I not only won my fears, but I also feeled like a god
This explains why a lot of times while I was playing Halo 3 I had this feeling that I missed something narratively. A lot of times I had problems following the plot and I asked myself 'What is going on, where even am I and what am I doing here?', despite having played through Halo CE's and Halo 2's campaigns multiple times.
That ending to _Cortana_ makes WAY more sense than it did in the final game. In the final game, you defeat the Gravemind by destroying the core of High Charity, which had crash-landed on the Ark... but the Gravemind is somehow rebuilding itself on the newly-constructed Halo ring and destroying High Charity apparently did no damage to the Ark? And firing the ring somehow _will_ destroy the Ark? Man, I wish we had gotten the original ending instead.
From other media, the ring firing didn't destroy The Ark, but made it unusable for some time while the sentinels repaired. That makes sense considering the ring was so close to the Ark when it was fired and that it was half done. I figured the Gravemind isn't the same Gravemind and that the flood had enough biomass at that point to build a new one. Flood memories are shared when they have enough biomass, so the new gravemind would retain the memories of the old.
10:30 While listening to this, my mind went straight to a section in Dead Space 2 where you ride a digger and defend if from necromorphs while it does its thing
Mr.Xperia, I have been an Avid viewer of yours for many years now and I have thoroughly loved and enjoyed every single one of your videos, from the deep diving into every crevice of halos lore or darker stuff containing scps or talking about halo shitfinite. I am someone who comes from a kinda low income house and even as a 20 year old now I’m a broke ass college student😂. But all that’s to say is I’ve never had any halo resource outside of the mainstream games because that’s all I could talk my family into getting me when holidays came around and now as a man I can only afford oh so much. So every bit of expansive lore I know about my favorite game of all time comes from you. Everything, from what the flood simply are to the halo 3 terminals and the story behind it all and everything in between. I don’t know why I felt so compelled to come spill my heart out in your comment section but all of that is to say that I fu34ing love you man, I know halo is dry as a bone recently but somehow you come up with ridiculously entertaining ideas and I hope and pray that you never stop. I can’t explain how much halo means to me and in turn how much you do too. You’re gonna reach a million subs soon I know it. And honestly you don’t even need 343 to make a good game cuz for the last 8+ years you’ve been doing fine without it😂 I don’t know if you’ll read this but if you do I hope I can add some drops to your seemingly “endless” bucket of motivation, your seriously my favorite RUclipsr and the amount of quality and time you pour into each video is actually insane. Thank you
I didn’t believe the title was true until the flarbiters. Then you started talking about the Gravemind encounter and I realized I was right not to believe. I guess it sounds cool but it also sounds like it would’ve been overly drawn out, repetitive, and too ambitious to execute in a way that’s as awesome and grand as it seems in our heads. Still would love to see flarbys someday though. A room with a handful of seemingly smarter infected elites that look like arbiters maybe wielding weapons you don’t see infected elites use normally. Doesn’t even need boss mechanics to be memorable
I feel like Cortana got a lot of crap from people because it came right after the covenant, Which many will say its not just the best level in Halo 3, but probably the best in the halo franchise.
True, some of the best levels imo (og trilogy) are: Truth and reconciliation, 343 guilty spark, metropolis, delta halo, regret, gravemind, The Ark, the covenant. Ppl may say that the gravemind drags but as a kid, the level felt like it had its own sense of progression, like a sense you traveled a great distance and that a lot of time has passed. Also like the 3 way battle that occurs a lot, between you and the marines, brutes and elites.
Calling the 10 minute long level that is kinda shitty the worst in the series is a bold statement when the 20 minute long mission of repeating rooms and tedium that is The Library exists. Also, like, half of Halo 5 is either shitty levels, or levels you don't even fight enemies. In a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER GAME.
Absolutely right. I honestly don't get the hate for this particular level when if we want to be real, Halo CE had similar problems. Hell, even on Arriving on Halo when you first touch on the ring it's a lot of linear walking and driving for a good long while.
@@arindryn241 I don't hate all of the levels (343 Guilty Spark is fun as hell), but I feel like a lot of CE has problems people overlook. Weapon balancing is objectively meh (fuck the CE Assault Rifle, can't hit shit outside point blank range in a game with the CE shotgun), level design has too much backtracking and repeated environments, and the placement of certain enemies or enemy types in certain areas can be really frustrating sometimes. But people just ignore the issues.
Thank you for making this video - something I've been waiting to dive into since reading on Wikipedia all those years ago that cortana was in fact the floodgate level
The difference between the Library and Cortana is that the former has an insane level of immersion. I'm talking Bioshock levels of atmospheric immersion. What does Cortana has?. Nothing. It's just a tedious survival mini game at best.
@@IsuiGtz Tedious survival mini game? Sounds alot like the library then, especially the parts where you have to constantly wait for guilty spark to take an age to open the doors while you fight off hoards of flood.
Cortana is probably my favorite mission in all of Halo... I'm not even kidding. It's absolutely one of the worst. The vibe and Gravemind dialogue puts it at the top for me.
Fighting a mass army of hundreds of former arbiters all flood infected, many of them wearing different armor styles showing what clans they were from (some of them now extinct), so many different weapons they would use. Spears, staffs, swords (even metal swords), plasma rifles, many custom weapons that you would scavange from their bodies, getting into QTE clashes with some of the melee fighters in tests of strength (invincible while doing it). Many of them mocking you as you fight them, trash talk to get under your skin. Man... a DREAM/nightmare that would be to play! (Sounds awesome as fuck, but would also be an utter NIGHTMARE to try and fight on harder difficulties, even with full co-op.) Plus the arbiter mausoleum crashing onto Gravemind feels poetic that even at the end, their honor is redeemed by finishing off the greatest threat by their hand.
So many times in the Bungie games we go through previous areas. Pillar/Maw, Truth&Rec/Keyes, AOTCR/Two Betrayals, just about everything in ODST, Storm/Floodgate... It would've been interesting to see the same areas between 2 games for the first time though.
The reactor room wherein you destroy the fusion reactors in Cortana is literally the reactor room made for the Floodship level. It doesn't even make sense that the reactor room for a planet-sized flying ship would be a relatively small room located a few doors away from the Prophets' Inner Sanctum. Also notice how every hallway and door is very reminiscent of the Covenant ship hallways from Halo CE.
I just accepted it as a covenant ship crashing on the surface of high charity and most of the towers and gardens had already collapsed (as we see how much of the city is devastated) When you activate the engine cores it causes a chain reaction that causes the other engines in high charity to fail. Nothing explains the covenant doors on the sanctum room, but that room shouldn't even be that far from the mausoleum. The mausoleum and sanctum room are in the same tower, just different levels, so why is the mausoleum out in the far distance when its not supposed to be lmao. They didn't even try to make it consistent with halo 2s high charity, its kind of sad
I have recently been wanting to recreate the trilogy. or more like a retelling of it outside of more gun 'n' vehicles (both new and old). there'd also be more enemy types and allies. longer, special, possibly cut missions or add onto an already existing one (like what ruby's rebalanced did to CE library) and friendly jackals! this is mostly because I'd have set it so that humanity finds these bird space pirates, have a war, become friends because oooh shiny, all before the covenant reaches them. thus no covie jackal this is, in no way, an excuse for me to include jackal OCs. absolutely not. couldn't be me. ah. to make up for it, I had variant of hunters that are lightweight and agile, more numerous than duos. basically slugmen but skirmishers. I have made comments about these before, not sure if on a hiddenxperia video but I have done. called them stalkers edit: it has now made me think of what other things to do. I imagine people wouldn't like these things. but hey-ho, it's interesting and it's different. should spice up the usual boring campaign that everyone has played. the question is, should it be halo 3's engine or reach's engine? feel free to judge me
@@marcosarreguin2310 Did you not even play Halo 2 on legendary??? Gravemind has a literal game over portion with the elevator if you dare to play it on legendary or laso.
You know, i feel like the scarab being absolutely flooded with, well, flood while the tentacles try to stop you too was cut because of how small the scarab actually is (when we consider the interior and the exterior thats walked on except the one room at the bottom) would be very much too difficult to beat because you can't fight the ugly zombies and stop a kraken worm from breaking your alien super car it's ankles. I just can't see that.
Please please cover the cut levels. Not just Halo 3’s but all the games. I’ve always been interested in the potential for the “Covenant Ship” level cut from Halo 2
Cortana IS NOT the worst level in the series, that alone goes to Gravemind 100% because of the rushed badly designed elevator part of that level that's greatly helped make Halo 2 known as the infamously hardest Halo game in the series.
@@Xderda I hope you don't truly mean that, because that might be the case for some, but even that isn't entirely unbeatable, it is VERY CLOSE to the elevator on Gravemind, but you can still survive that if you move fast enough.
Elevator on Gravemind? Don't you mean that slow moving Flood canister grabbing elevator thing in The Oracle? Or are you talking about the prison sequence in Gravemind? I just can't think of any sort of elevator in Gravemind. High Charity has that large room outside the Inner Sanctum with the elevator leading up to it but that's not exactly screaming "infamous elevator sequence" to me.
I knew flood gate always felt too short, that portal in the sky is badass and I would’ve loved to keep looking at it as i progress, being reminded of the overarching story
For me, Halo 2's Gravemind and Halo 1's Two Betrayals are way worst than Halo 3's Cortana. Two Betrayals for being to long. And Gravemind being tedious. Those 2 on legendary... never again...
The idea of returning to high charity and it looking similar to what you fought through in halo 2 reminds me of when you return to delta labs in doom 3: resurrection of evil after the 1st hell outbreak.
I can't remember much of the expansion's layout but wasn't it the Alpha Labs that had a bit of familiarity to it? :Like there's that door a Pinky used to break in with but couldn't leaving a large dent in the wall. And when you enter that lab you can see that exact same dent in the area.
I love when people delve into cut content. Maybe somewhere in the Multiverse, there's a universe where the co-designer didn't leave and High Charity was released as planned.
I just imagined both the chief and arbiter going through the cut high charity mission. With the arbiter solemnly but determinedly cutting through the old arbiters. Both working together to get Cortana and then fighting and holding off the grave mind together with all they had. Makes me wish it happened in some way.
Okay Cortana is always definitely awful your first time through it but it's honestly one of my favorite levels. I started halo HATING the flood levels but growing up they've done nothing but fascinate me. I frequently boot halo up for the sole purpose of popping flood boils nowadays. Every halo game I have on PC is modded to some degree to allow me to play the flood in some capacity. Halo isn't about humanity for me anymore, it's about the constant threat of complete annihilation by a species hell bent on unifying everything in its perfect order. Hence why Ive only played halo 4 and guardians only once and haven't touched halo since save for popping more flood
Tbh i did notice the difference in high charity and find it odd for the place to even have a control room there. And also found it strange that we had to destroy high charity's reactors are just those ones we destroyed which you'd think for something like high charity the reactor(s) would've been bigger, but this video pretty much explains it and honestly a wasted opportunity to fight flood infected arbiters (which I'd imagine Thel would be shocked or even disturb that the parasite would use their corpses to stop chief and arbiter) and to have a boss fight with the grave mind would've been sick.

Oh man, I would of LOVED to basically retread Halo 2 HC, I mean one of my favorite parts is when you are high above the city and can look out over it all and see the Keyship, the view was beautiful and it would of been epic to see it again but now HC has been consumed by the Flood, to walk the same 'streets' and yet they are disturbing and unfamiliar terrain.
I remember one of my playthroughs I was quoting every line of dialogue and when the "Blow the core" left my lips I pondered as to why we never do actually blow it. I caught that slip years ago
The reason you don't blow it up is because the elites show up and glass everything instead. The elites deal with the problem so there would be no reason to blow it up. Before the elites show up it makes sense that Keyes had a plan to blow it up.
I will never forgive them for making Spartan Locke the player character during the goddam Sanghelii Civil War! That should've been straight Arbiter content!
Wouldn’t it be interesting if for the hypothetical mausoleum segment, the infected forms of Mercy and Regret would be involved. Perhaps as used as command units by Gravemind for the hordes of flood to fight in that room? Possibly adding Truth to the mix as well. Or maybe even a hybrid where all three are part of the same flood mass…
I think part of what makes Cortana so unpopular is how difficult it is, and this largely comes from the flood pure forms 80% resistance to small arms when in ranged mode. I have a love hate relationship with the level most of the hate comes from not being able to get anyone to really get into the gruelling combat with me. It takes creative solutions to eliminate all enemies on heroic and legendary, solutions that largely require cooperation like transporting weapons and moving objects to create barricades. You can easily expend all the available ammunition in an entire room in the heavy fighting. Most Halo players skip entire encounters or go around enemies, but I've always had a no quarter rule. Either I'm killing nobody, or I'm killing everyone and even taking shots at off map entities.

I love Halo 3's Cortana mission solely for the fact arbiter comes out of nowhere with a flamethrower
How awesome it would have been seeing the arbiter fight flood infected fal chavamee, blade master vs former blade master, that would have been sick
@@cyriell Cool Idea, I wonder would you have the arbiter discovered the casket before or after the celebration but before he goes to his ship. (obvious unlike with the storyboard 343 guilty sparks is not with him.)
Also would the arbiter discover the casket still on Earth or something like Sanghelios? another thing would the forerunner skeleton be human like Bungie intended or something else like just a forerunner skeleton from 343 games?
Shame it was too ambitious and Paul was forced to give us what we got. I would have loved to play H3 High Charity with the Flarbiter and Scarab Gravemind boss battles.
This is why we need a Halo 3 Anniversary/Remake also bring Michael Wincott back as the Prophet of Truth I love Terrence Stamp as an actor but I feel that his voice for truth is underwhelming?
@WyattDucar I don't know the voice actors, but Micheal is the 2 version right?

@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem Me too, which I think if they want a remake or anniversary version of Halo 3 just bring back Michael and while I'm not sure how would Truth scenes of Halo 3 be change but regardless I actually like how Arbiter throw his helmet to truth from the Halo 2 storyboards although I admit for some reason at least to me I feel that the death of Truth is allot more impact rather then getting his neck snapped by Aribter from the storyboards not only truth got infected by the flood but also getting stab by the aribter is a lot more fitting end for his character although I think they should have keep the Truth bossfight from the halo 2 storybaords for halo 3?
Honestly I didn't quite like how we never got to see the grave Mind or any form of him , felt criminal after seeing him in H2 , all we got is a scene with some tentacles lol
i was always against a huge bossfight against gravemind because he seems like galactus, an entity that you cant beat with rockets, tanks or even giant stalactites. he is everywhere the flood is. but all this makes it sound like it was just an encounter where you needed to push him back and flex your muscles a bit, but he wasnt gone and during the last level he still talks to you and tries to stop you. and only blowing up the entire planet destroys him for good (maybe?)
that would have been pretty great honestly.

I think Cortana is only hated because of legendary difficulty
Tsavo Highway was worse on Legendary...
Why? It's so easy, you just run past everything with camo.
@@emperorfridgethedude last I checked. camo pickups are half way into the level. so how do you past the 1st half?
0:45 I'm gonna pause right here and say that The Library has entered the chat
if you treat Library like Doom it’s very fun, unlike Cortana, which has absolutely nothing fun in it.
@@masturch33f66 all you have to beat library is to just press S+Mouse1, literally Serious Sam gameplay but much worse
They way that it was phrased...
"We didn't have the resources..."
...kinda makes me wonder if they were talking less about development time, and more about *system* resources with the xBox 360, itself.
I kind of doubt it given the sandbox stuff that we got in the ark, the covenant and halo which all show off high enemy density, wide open levels and engine physics. The original plan sounded like it needed a lot of development time and scripting to pull off which would've been impossible with the co-lead quitting
As halo 3 was 7 of the 8 total GB available on dual layer dvds (including multiplayer maps), and this was before day one dlc downloads so it's absolutely possible that disc space was the main reason for cutting levels

doesn't mean I don't suck at MP tho :(
Another point to flood gate, on your way to the crashed ship elites come down in their pods to assist.
A Infected Arbiter army and a Gravemind boss fight? Modders! To Arms!
Now that is something i second🙌!
It's possible as there's a mod called "New Campaign" using assets of High Charity such as the Hanging Gardens and Mausoleum of the Arbiter, but I fear it would be too ambitious to achieve and would crumble halfway through
Mythic Overhaul already has elements of the cut content implemented, go play that

Man I need to play Halo 3 again. Ideally it would be with my old 360 slimmed version. No fuss. Just plug and play campaign. Haven’t played since spending summers with my brother around 09’. I’m old but Halo was so great at that time.
I’ve never understood the hate for this level. It’s hard but it’s not bad. I’d love to see more blightland levels in halo
I agree about blight lands
Yes we get them in HW but you don't get the atmosphere or detail you do in FP, just imagine the soundscape you could create being stealthy surround sound wearing headphones, that could be pure horror
Oooooh the blightlands would be an amazing concept to cover!
Alright, now we need modders to recreate High Charity level!
its honestly very depressing how the amount of stuff was removed in halo 3 this was a very ambitious mission so yeah i can understand why alot the stuff that happened had happened but i am just a little bit sad that we didnt get the flood arby fight
Thanks man :) I’ve been putting a lot more effort into detailed editing recently so comments like this make me happy 😇
Wouldn't mind a series going over all Halo games cut content, could be a fun series, then maybe analysing all the cancelled Halo games
Man, because of the area of the country I live in we were late to the Xbox Live experience until around 2005 so when Halo 3 came out it was a whole event for my friends and myself. One of the Halo 3’s overhaul mods actually makes Cortana a better mission, not much is changed but it just ‘feels’ better
I remembered that when I was 6 I just could not play Cortana because I was so scared, but after a year I found the courage and when I completed it I not only won my fears, but I also feeled like a god

We need Halo 3's equivalent of spv3. That's what we need right now.

I feel like Cortana got a lot of crap from people because it came right after the covenant,
Which many will say its not just the best level in Halo 3, but probably the best in the halo franchise.
True, some of the best levels imo (og trilogy) are:
Truth and reconciliation, 343 guilty spark, metropolis, delta halo, regret, gravemind, The Ark, the covenant.
Ppl may say that the gravemind drags but as a kid, the level felt like it had its own sense of progression, like a sense you traveled a great distance and that a lot of time has passed.
Also like the 3 way battle that occurs a lot, between you and the marines, brutes and elites.
Cortana is very memorable to me
Because of how difficult it was and how damn terrified I was playing it for the first time

Thats what im saying! Halo CE level design is total ass
Absolutely right. I honestly don't get the hate for this particular level when if we want to be real, Halo CE had similar problems. Hell, even on Arriving on Halo when you first touch on the ring it's a lot of linear walking and driving for a good long while.
Library is actually really good
@@arindryn241 I don't hate all of the levels (343 Guilty Spark is fun as hell), but I feel like a lot of CE has problems people overlook. dumb
My personal most hated level is the Maw. For no other reason than with the Warthog run, an entire minute is removed when you play it on Legendary.
I wish Halo 1 had rally points to choose from so I could skip all that other stuff in The Maw and just do the Warthog run.
So many times in the Bungie games we go through previous areas. Pillar/Maw, Truth&Rec/Keyes, AOTCR/Two Betrayals, just about everything in ODST, Storm/Floodgate... It would've been interesting to see the same areas between 2 games for the first time though.
THE MEDDLERS MESSED UP CORTANA!!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭
The reactor room wherein you destroy the fusion reactors in Cortana is literally the reactor room made for the Floodship level. It doesn't even make sense that the reactor room for a planet-sized flying ship would be a relatively small room located a few doors away from the Prophets' Inner Sanctum.
Also notice how every hallway and door is very reminiscent of the Covenant ship hallways from Halo CE.
I just accepted it as a covenant ship crashing on the surface of high charity and most of the towers and gardens had already collapsed (as we see how much of the city is devastated)
When you activate the engine cores it causes a chain reaction that causes the other engines in high charity to fail. Nothing explains the covenant doors on the sanctum room, but that room shouldn't even be that far from the mausoleum. The mausoleum and sanctum room are in the same tower, just different levels, so why is the mausoleum out in the far distance when its not supposed to be lmao.
They didn't even try to make it consistent with halo 2s high charity, its kind of sad

outside of more gun 'n' vehicles (both new and old). there'd also be more enemy types and allies. longer, special, possibly cut missions or add onto an already existing one (like what ruby's rebalanced did to CE library)
and friendly jackals!
this is mostly because I'd have set it so that humanity finds these bird space pirates, have a war, become friends because oooh shiny, all before the covenant reaches them. thus no covie jackal
this is, in no way, an excuse for me to include jackal OCs. absolutely not. couldn't be me.
ah. to make up for it, I had variant of hunters that are lightweight and agile, more numerous than duos. basically slugmen but skirmishers. I have made comments about these before, not sure if on a hiddenxperia video but I have done. called them stalkers
edit: it has now made me think of what other things to do. I imagine people wouldn't like these things. but hey-ho, it's interesting and it's different. should spice up the usual boring campaign that everyone has played. the question is, should it be halo 3's engine or reach's engine?

Cortana IS NOT the worst level in the series, that alone goes to Gravemind 100% because of the rushed badly designed elevator part of that level that's greatly helped make Halo 2 known as the infamously hardest Halo game in the series.

Having a boss fight against the Gravemind would have been so cool.
1:43 Yes I would like to see you cover those levels please.
It's disappointing to hear their original vision for the level compared to what we got, but that's game dev for you.
My girlfriend would pick Cortana as her favorite Halo mission of all time. There’s always that one lmao
I actually like it too lmfao 💀
Cortana is my favorite level to play legendary while drinking
it would be cool to get a director's cut of Halo 3 with this version of Cortana included to make the game feel completed
"DID YOU THINK WE WERE DEFEATED?!" makes a lot more sense now, spoken by the Gravemind in the last level of Halo 3. This video is wild.
If we don't get playable Elites in the next Halo, I'm logging myself out of Minecraft.
Idk that one level from halo one with the flood is absolutely horrifying to play in there’s way possible it’s such a slog
