Welcome to Lake Atitlán, Guatemala! The lake is the largest in Central America and offers a load of outdoor activities along with Spanish immersion classes.. There are multiple volcanoes to hike (I hiked the San Pedro volcano which you can see towards the end of the video), which can be pretty intense. There are also more casual hiking options too, as well as kayaking and swimming too.

Retiring soon to southern Mexico, where we’ll stay until our senior dogs pass away, then starting a several year trek all the way to Argentina. Who knows where we will put down roots. Antigua, Lake Atitlan, and Xela…all on our places to stop for a few months. Wondering what the longest stay allowed in Guatemala on a tourist visa…only 90 days ?
