    Thanks for sharing, ex commercial electrician studying construction management, found this really useful to help me gain a clear understanding of the procedures involved for a suspended floor :)

    In my experience of having to live with it, chipboard flooring sags after about 20 years and you end up with a lumpy floor. Also if it gets wet, it goes soggy, expands then disintigrates.

    Just saw the exact same stuff used on 8 flats I was working on in London.
    Caberdek 18mm tongue & groove with that glue. It is nasty stuff if you get it on your hands or clothes! Powerful stuff though.
    Nice job that.

      @@michaelburke9548 Yep it's definitely not wise to not wear gloves when glueing and fixing with that glue.
      Gloves on when doing it and then off again when finished if you don't enjoy working with gloves....

    Boards P5. 18mm boards for joist at 400 centres, 22mm for 600 centres. The Caber manual says no noggins required on the long edge (boards laids 90 dgrees to joists). Short egdes should meet a noggin or joist. Dont use 18mm on 600 centres.

    Hi mate I really like your vid. Shame about the pool. Would this same principle work for a supporting floor.. I.e a new room in a vaulted ceiling. What would be the max span I could go without support in the middle. Cheers

    Im planning to lay T and G chipboard in a upstairs bedroom. My question is if i'm butting up against the skirting board on the last piece, how do i avoid a gap? Because i'll need a gap to be able to lay it flat and then slide into the the T and G together. If theres no gap between the skirting and last board, the touge will sit on top on the previous board

    I'm actually thinking of getting rid of the cellar underneath my suspended floor (150 year old Victorian house) by removing the joists below the floor and treating somehow the ground (soil + cement), probably by fixing some damp proofing membrane.. There's a few air bricks on each of the two walls exposed to the exterior..
    Unfortunately I haven't much space in my home and every inch matter so there's any recommendation you could give me to achieve this and trying to tackle any potential damp problems, do you think there's any structural issues I should be prepared to look into before removing any joists/sleepers..?
Many Thanks,
    Juan

    What is the difference advantage disadvantage between using this type or tounge and groove vs large chipboard flooring sheets that come in a massive size of 2.8 m by 2m without tounge and groove.
    Cost of the boards without tounge and groove is much cheaper. I would ensure edges all on the joist and screwed in would it be complainant with building regs

    Hello everyone! I have a couple questions regarding building a floating floor and would be very happy if anyone with experience could share some tips as I am new to this. I have to raise my kitchen floor around 10/15 cm and I thought making a floating floor with wooden frame. The room is small around 3x2,5 meters and the floor needs to be able to support the weight of a small kitchen (6 cabinets, including marble countertop and all appliances). My question is: every floating floor I see om youtube is standing on some kinnd of poles or supports so that the wooden frame is not in contact with th ground/concrete. Since my current floor is made of wood, can the whole frame (both vertical and horizontal wood parts) be directly in touch with the current wooden floor? Or is there any good reason why I should raise the frame? Other question: what size of woods I should use for such a small room and to support properly the weight of the kitchen? Last question should the joists run the long or short side of the room? Thanks to anyone able to help, been watching so many videos and still confused :)

      Hi, lots of things to consider. What’s the floor structure of existing house? Timber or solid. If timber the subfloor should be vented, and if this was my project I’d continue along the lines of the original house as long as there is no rot or damp. That would suggest the vents and dpm are working. If solid I’d put a new solid floor in to full building reg spec. For timbers and span calc you need a struc eng if you need building regs, but if not look at what was existing and add a bit for the next man and it should still be there when we all pass ✌️

    About to start a similar type of floor on my garage which has a slope. It’s a double garage. Will I have to put some kind of support for the joists half way across the floor?

    • @scalereality4840
      @scalereality4840 4 года назад

      You could cut some short vertical supports at an angle to match the slope of your floor and use coach bolts to attach them to the joists, for a double garage I'd put at least two rows evenly spaced across the floor to support general weight. Obviously this is not to support vehicles being there just foot traffic, bikes, furniture etc

    Hi great video and awesome job but your wrong about floor being stong i have that crap in my house and i stampped on my landing and now i have a massive hole so i disagree with your its a strong floor but how do i get the other boreds up to fix it as they have stupid lips and groves that slot together like a one time only jigsaw so any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

    • @Cjrelectrical
      @Cjrelectrical  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Michael
      Yes if the incorrect spacing and nogging arrangement has been used it will intimately have weak points.
      Very easy to replace a patch or even a full sheet just multi tool off the lips and remove and replace with a new piece removing the lips also just make sure you glue the joint and fix plenty of screws in .
