    Making SSamjang for my gimbap and am so glad to see this, sure I can use Modern Peppers' or Maangchi's but I just love you and you gave me such inspiration for my gimbap today that i went and thawed some fishcake and bacon to make a variety of gimbap and need this for the 'pork belly' ,from the 'other ' video, but no avocado for me , got sick of it when I owned the Rancho Grande, Mexican restaurant before I turned 65 and retired. Thank you. I especially love the older version of you 'in the making' and watching you progress....... take care from Michigan's upper Penninsula......... Yupersue

    can you use other bean pastes? does it have to be soybeans? Here in American other beans are much cheaper.

    • @AaronandClaire
      @AaronandClaire  5 лет назад +2

      A A Nope, it should be Korean soybean paste 된장(doen-jang). This is not just soybean paste, it's fermented soybean paste!

    • @Douglas.Kennedy
      @Douglas.Kennedy 4 года назад +2

      @@David-Daithi I just tasted both and it's actually close. But you can find the real thing for about $3 if you can find a Korean or Asian grocery store. It will be right next to the Gochuhjaing that you also need! You can even buy pre-made ssamjang but I doubt it will taste as good as this recipe.

    • @Douglas.Kennedy
      @Douglas.Kennedy 4 года назад +1

      Ok, I did try store-bought ssamjang. I thought the recipe was better. Store bought needs more stuff added to it (green onion, garlic at least) It would do in a pinch.

    This is such a great recipe to have a few cannot get a hold of store-bought. But you didn’t say how do you store your homemade dip. How would I wanna do so?

    • @AaronandClaire
      @AaronandClaire  3 года назад

      Unlike the store-bought one, it is not recommended to keep it in the fridge for a long time. So I recommend making a small batch but if you still have leftover, put it in a air containter and keep it in the fridge. It will be fine up to 2-3 days. (P.S. We have a video that you can try with your leftover ssamjang, so if you are interested in, check out this video(Ssamjang 101). Here's a link~! 🤗 ruclips.net/video/1qWywZA4Lm8/видео.html )

    • @AaronandClaire
      @AaronandClaire  3 года назад +1

      Corn syrup not only adds a sweet flavor but also give us that glossy texture. So if you want to replace it, I recommend adding a little bit of water with sugar instead. 😊 aaronandclaire.com/how-to-make-ssamjang-korean-dipping-sauce-recipe/
