    Me analizying the recipes ... "Conclusion: Koreans basically call pancake everything they can stick together in a pan and fry it, I like it and I like them" lol had never looked so deep into Korean food and all looks awesome, besides you make them easy to cook (no ovrecomplicated recipes) Definetly my definition of "pancake" has changed thanks to this thanks for the video both of you!

      I was a little surprised at this, then I remembered a recent video where they showed us "Pancake Alley" ! I laughed when he started on the corn pancake... now I'm thinking "I HAVE a can of corn....". It's in the same place with the Tuna and the SPAM, with the emergency food we keep for hurricanes. One of the things I like about this channel is that he's cooking with stuff that I already have, it's always funny when he says "I know you have this in your refrigerator"....

      It's partially because there is no good English word equivalent for these dishes.

    • @EK83749
      @EK83749 4 года назад +22

      The korean word for these types of food is called "jeon" and there really is no english equivalent for this so they use pancake as an umbrella term. These "jeon" is an umbrella term which is either the typical pancake-like vegetable or kimchi jeon which is made with a batter and the other type of jeon made with meat or veggies is not in a batter but instead dipped in the flour and egg then fried.

    If you freeze your Perilla pancakes after you flour and stuff them, they keep GREAT! I put wax paper between the layers and then freeze. You can take them out still frozen, dip in egg, and go straight into the pan. It takes just a little longer to cook, but it's so nice to have them ready when you are lazy but hungry.

It was very nice, i used white cabbage, instead of potatoe, and did not have chives at home, ( did not want to go on the queue at the shop, just for that, so like you always say, use what you have) , spring onions, mixed peppers , and sliced frankfruters ! Kimchi pancakes are my fav. I always have a big jar of homemade kimchi in my fridge. I make the "lazy" kind where it's already all chopped up, so it's super easy to just scoop some out, mix it with flour and a little water and fry it up. I don't even use meat most times and it's still awesome!
    Great video, all your pancakes look awesome! I have to try that corn one

    I made a pancake inspired by this video with mixed frozen veggies I had plus some dry chopped chives with the corn pancake seasoning in this video. It was delicious and thank you for continuing to help me find ways to make the most of the inexpensive food that I can get in my area :)

    OMGOSH I love your show! Everything looks delicious. And you two are so fun, you make me laugh. My dad used to make a pancake with corn in it and I loved it so much. I’ve never heard of anyone doing it since then, and I can’t wait to try your corn pancake! ALL of them look so delicious!
