    Daniel shows you how to make a traditional Korean dipping sauce called Ssamjang. Its a spicy dip made with fresh garlic, Doenjang and Gochujang. I think its the best dipping sauce for fresh vegetables (siracha, move aside!). Ssamjang dipping sauce has an eclectic mix of sharp tasty flavors.
    If you have been eating too much meat lately, why not grab some fresh greens and a side of Ssamjang. Get your rabbit on!

    Ssamjang will keep for months in the refrigerator. If you want to store for long periods, I would recommend not putting the onions into the large "mother" batch. (Chopped onions will start to cry and release lot of water into the paste). Instead, add them in right before serving.

    I tried your recipe for cucumber kimchi and I’m IN LOVE with it! My whole family loves it too. I’ve been looking for a dipping sauce for my vegetables to add some flavor and I didn’t want to use ranch or other vegetable dips because I feel like that would defeat the purpose of eating healthy. But I can’t wait to try this recipe out! Thank you for sharing!

    I don’t know if it’s what part of Korea where my mother is from, her socio-economical status, or her own tastes but we rarely ate a Korean dish that was sweet. Most of her dishes are usually saltier and bolder than I’ve seen in most Korea recipes. Saam jaang in our home was usually a super thick doenjang jiggae or gochugaru/soy sauce and or fish sauce/spicy peppers/garlic/green onion mix. This version is new to me. I’m very interested in trying this recipe!!!🤗

    • @FutureNeighbor
      @FutureNeighbor  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for sharing Sharon! Yes, I think every family (certain provinces of Korea) has their own way of making it! Perhaps your mom is from the south or the middle of Korea? I know they like their pastes more rich/fishier. Usually, the Seoul style is less fishy and more subtle.

    • @LoveKeebuu
      @LoveKeebuu 4 года назад

      This was interesting to learn. I noticed the differences in a few dishes like toppokki or fish cake. Some taste fishier and less sweet than others...

    Hello there! Thanks so much for your awesome recipes. :)
    I made this today and it's really tasty, but it came out super salty as well. I couldn't find doenjang so I used awase miso since that's all they had at the grocery store. Could that be why? Or is it supposed to be pretty salty? I've never actually had ssamjang before this. Thanks!

    • @FutureNeighbor
      @FutureNeighbor  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Ginger! It will keep for months in the refrigerator (no need to freeze). If you want to make a large batch, don't add the diced onions into the big batch. They will begin to release water. Instead, add them into the individuals servings right before eating.

    • @missALe13

      That's right! In Korea, if you can't stand double-dipping, you'll be eating in the corner! 🙂🙃

      It should keep for months! But if you will want to store it for long, I would not add the onions to the big batch. Instead, stir them in right before eating. Onions release lot of water. Enjoy!
