For those of you who don’t know, this is not a remake of the original movie. Rather, it is an adaptation of the broadway musical based on the original 2004 movie, in a similar vain to the Matilda The Musical movie or the new The Color Purple.

I would be so confused if I didn't know. This is terrible marketing. It's literally only for people who already know about it, rather than doing what a trailer is supposed to do: inform the uninformed. There is nothing in the trailer, nor the description, to indicate that this is a musical. It mentions "a new twist" in both places and then never shows or explains what the twist is.
@@Fanible It’s embarassing and such an odd choice really, I can’t wrap my head around it??? The musical is incredible and I have no idea what they were thinking - now it only looks like an extremely unecessary remake. Remaking something so beloved and iconic is already risky from the getgo, so they really needed to show what is new about this version and why it exists, something they very much didn’t do 😭😭 (which is so sad because the songs are bangers!!!)

And then covid struck, and they were waiting and waiting to get the Broadway one back on. But then they decided to make a movie musical version instead and cease the Broadway one.

Mean Girls is iconic! One of my all-time favorites! I love that the principal and Tina Fey are both back in this one, too. But I'm not big on musicals. And this is really just going to be a repeat with added music in it. Nothing will ever surpass the 2004 version.

Before anyone went nuts, this is a musical adaptation of the Broadway show. Not a remake of the original movie, they aren't trying to beat the original movie when they're doing a different approach similar to last year's Matilda and the new Color Purple movie. Heck even Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for this movie as she was also heavily involved in the Broadway show

I won't lie, I'm having mixed feelings about this. On one hand I feel it's going to be interesting to see a musical of the movie become a movie. But on another, I kind of prefer the original 2004 version? I don't know, maybe I like original versions because I saw them first.

Same here, I have problems with how they are going to approach today's adolescent topics in this movie. I might only watch it because Tina Fey is reprising her role, she hasn't aged at all.
This is exactly what happened with Hairspray. Most people don't even remember that was originally and non-musical movie from the 1980s. The musical completely overtook its originator, but I don't really see that happening here because the 2004 Mean Girls has had so much more staying power than the original Hairspray.
You like the original because it is a timeless classic. This is a copy made from a copy.
I don't care if it's a remake or an adaptation of the musical broadway. You don't reinvent what the original succeeded in.
The original is bound to be a teen classic, it's relatable, the characters are funny and darn right Quotable.
This version won't surpass what the original did.
But for example, Top Gun: Maverick is better than the Original.
If you think that why is the musical so popular? It has a lot of potential and make more people go to the theatre

For those of you who don’t know, this is not a remake of the original movie. Rather, it is an adaptation of the broadway musical based on the original 2004 movie, in a similar vain to the Matilda The Musical movie or the new The Color Purple.

I thought the whole point of Mean Girls is they're supposed to be like those rich, popular, and beautiful girls from high school? These girls are so mid I find it hard to believe they would be the popular girls at any high school.

This trailer doesn't show it's a musical... They should have used one of the SEVERAL songs in the musical. Just like literally every other movie musical trailer does. Show them singing and or dancing. This makes it look like a remake no one asked for instead of a movie musical. Bad trailer.
