No thanks !
Tbh I really wish Gretchen and Karen had verses like they did in the broadway show.
Karen’s verse was the best. 😂
Me too
Yeah, this isn’t “Meet The Plastics,” but rather “Meet Regina George.”
@@joshandallo2170 yeah it’s supposed to be about all 3 of the plastics not just Regina :/
Without their verses, they don't really get to introduce themselves in their own voices. They become flatter characters as a result when next to the singing rest of cast.
As a sapphic who had zero previous exposure to the Broadway production, I WAS NOT prepared for Renee to unbutton her jacket like that lmfao
you mean lesbian
she doesnt do that in the show. damien usually just touches/gestures towards them.
lesbian and sapphic aren't the same thing @@carlosheehee46
@@carlosheehee46 I mean sapphic, which is more general, especially to include other people like bisexuals.
@@yeehawhenny oh lmao I guess Renee/film crew knew what they were doing here, then lol
when Rachel McAdams said 'So you think you're really pretty?' it sounds like she's trying to catch Cady off guard. When Renee said it, it sounds like she's flirtatiously teasing Cady.
Renee herself says that the character was hitting on Cady
To be fair, a good portion of the characters in this movie are gay.
I mean Renee did say Regina is gay
@@emorimatalau6955ikr? It was so gay
100% that song was her trying to seduce Cady
That "hey you, come here" is the flirtiest thing i've ever heard omg
Seriously she even licks her lips afterwards with that little smile I woulda had a heart attack and DROPPED DEAD
It seems GL story than the original movie
“Don’t look her in the eye!” So funny! It had me cracking up 🤣😭
Same here! That was the moment I totally said to myself "this is definitely awesome!"
Absolutely he definitely makes this roll fetch
Trust me I'm not looking at her eyes

It just hit me that's why they keep her eyes out of the frame for the first shots of her❤

Well, one difference I noticed with this Regina is that she looks IN LOVE with Cady lol. Renee ATE that musical number btw
Yeah that gaze is so unnecessarily flirtatious🤣 she’s bi maybe that’s why
I love her voice.. I had no idea was such a good vocalist.
@@cocosings0326Yeah, I believe she also portrayed the same role on the Mean Girls Broadway musical :)
She's like in love with her...

The actress who played Karen is so gorgeous man, she looks like a doll
Um no she looks nothing like karen
@@SorrelClouds she looks nothing like the 2004 karen, but that doesn't mean she still doesn't look like a gorgeous doll
@@SorrelClouds and what does "Karen" look like. Do any of these actors look like the original? no your just going to make a racist remark i assume :)
@@SorrelClouds Do you seriously think she would look like Amanda😂
@@lukas309984417 I actually think she kind of "looks like Karen" in the sense that she has a very doll-like face with very big eyes. Even her lips and jaw shape kind of look like Amanda's during that time.
The "Why dont i know you" sounded exactly like 2004 Regina. Also the height Renee has just adds to the intimidating factor
Aw I’m tall as well I hope I don’t come across to everyone as intimidating 😢
Aw, I found this version of Damian so likeable! He’s so charming!
When was he ever unlikable ? 😭😭
@@uncletea5632”AND 4 FOR GLEN COCO! YOU GO GLEN COCO!”
@@uncletea5632 i think they just mean the other version of the original characters were kinda lackluster but this version of damian isn’t, so they’re happy about that.
I think the other one was great, he was kind but goofy in a very good way
As a fan of the original film, I'll even admit that the characters maybe felt a bit one-dimensional. It seems they tried a bit harder this time to give them a little more depth to their personality, like Damian flirting with the Drama Club guy.
FINALLY THEY RELEASED IT. When I saw this in the cinema, my soul LURCHED out of my body and I had a, “step on my Regina” awakening. I also wondered why Cady looked like she was more in enthralled by Regina her than she was with Aaron in her maths lessons. The meeting between the two of them was almost romantic! This seemed like a romantic film, for those seconds.
I was thinking the same thing!
I didn't see the meeting between the two of them as appearing romantic. She was enthralled but to me, it gave off a mesmerizing vibe/siren call. Cady was captivated by her "perfect" looks and total confidence but it didn't look romantic, at least to me.
They should’ve kissed in the bathroom! Reneé has said in interviews she and Angourie would pretend to kiss in scenes. Lol.

Damien is hilarious 😂 the actor that played him nailed the role
It's easy to play gay when you're gay.....
He was so funny and good omg underrated
Even more impressive when you realise it's the first time Jaquel has done film/TV. Tina Fey brought him on after seeing him in 'A Strange Loop', which was also his Broadway debut.
Renee’s acting and overall energy is the best new Regina I could possibly think of. I don’t care how you feel about the movie, but in terms of remake a character, this casting and overall execution was done excellently for new Regina
Yes
Agreed. Plus she played Regina on Brodway.
It's just the costuming that is lacking with her character lol. Everything else about her carries the movie tho
Yeah i think she stole the whole movie tbh. Renee did an amazing job!
Shame she wasn't the original one, but I'm glad she's recognized as the most iconic Broadway one.@@jamessirot854
I’ll never forgive them for not including, “so you can go shave your back now” in this film
For me "why are you white" is missing
It’s not in the musical script
A lot of things are not ok with this version. The casting was bad, the worse was the guy who play Aaron Samuels, the one that played Shane Ulman is cuter and he should had been Aaron Samuels. They played it super safe with the insult jokes in this movie. That was just wrong. Yea…
For me it’s the Danny Devito line
was it in the broadway musical?@@thegroke1667
Renee is simply incredible in the film, it's just perfect that she was chosen as Regina George
She also played Regina in the broadway version as well
@@animieedit_marada no she didn't

“That thing you do when you lower your voice when you talk is making people really sad.” 💅

From 2:52 to 3:55 I was stuck to my chair, quivering, shaking, melting, screaming, crying, all for reneé
after the sing was over and thankfuly i was the inly ine in the theater i screames out "step on me mommy"
When I watched this in the movie theaters, but rewatching this scene right now why did I just realize the whole reason Cady got initiated into the plastics is because of Cady looking into regina's eyes and regina finding that interesting. So basically Cady got into the plastics due to her lack of social norms and awareness since she was in Africa. Wow, such a oxymoron considering how being a plastic took away what made her unique.
i thought it was bc she was pretty and regina saw her as a threat so she recruited her
Regina sensed that she could be manipulated and made into a follower. Part of it was because of Cady's naivete to social norms, but also because she shows to be a trusting person and Cady is vulnerable being the new kid. This is also shown in the original version.
@@damla5665 No it's because Regina saw she could be manipulated
@@seductiveraven4895she wouldn’t have picked cady if she were ugly though. Plus Regina already had power over the school, she could manipulate most of the people there. Even having cut holes in her shirt prompted everyone else to do the same.

It literally looks like Cady fell in love with her straight away. Girl was starstruck and I don’t blame her 😭
so basically, cady was having a gay panic over regina. i get it
Reneè Rapp is a literal siren walking on planet Earth. I mean you can't help, but love the girl as chaotic and crazy as she is she's just as much charismatic and enticing at the same time. She really knows how to draw in an audience and for her to be able to do that through a lens is top tier talent. Great job! 👏🏾

2:37 “Oh Lord, its the queen B. DON’T LOOK HER IN THE EYE!” 😂😂😂😂
Renee ate this up
The actress playing Regina is perfect, her outfit is a mess, though Regina would never wear that Regina would never be caught dead in that
Renee Rapp played Regina George on broadway as well! She's very talented. But yeah the wardrobe was questionable.
Og plastics popularized juicy couture, now they're dressing them up with shein eugh lol
That’s one of my negatives about this movie.
The outfits, the plastics would never wear something like that. Regina’s outfits were a major disappointment
I feel like they were trying to play off of Regina’s leather/black skirt from the original. I do think the costumes are too obvious in defining the characters for this film. Part of the fun for Regina was the manipulation just her looks gave. A girly innocence that lures you into her secret evil, lol.
Yeah I wish they had stuck to the skirts & dresses instead of pants. Especially because when she shows up in sweats it doesn’t even make in impact
The girl who plays Regina is stunning and hilarious in this, her singing voice is amazing also x
I like how they give a frame of her tray with cheese fries cuz in the original after Cady calculates in her head the calories from fat of something Regina was planning on eating Regina is like “whatever I’m getting cheese fries”. So it’s like a call back and I loved it
She says it in this movie too.
I'm so mad they didn't put meet the plastics but I live for the sapphicness of this
Since the last two days [since i watched it] my brain: "mY nAmE iS rEgInA gEoRgE"
Omg same
Anyway glad this is coming out on VOD & they are posting clips, the film did not deserve all the hate it got on premiere (which was largely because people didn't know it was a musical)
"we are very exclusive" had me rolling 😂😂
Even though the original will never be beaten I was pleasantly surprised with this version, yeah it's a lot tamer but the songs are so much fun that they really make up for it. And like the original it's got huge rewatch value. I went to see it 3 times and I can't wait to see it again 😆
Auli’s acting here is PHENOMENAL!! Loved her so much!
It's so cute how Janis and Damien get so excited when Cady asks to sit with them instead.
"DONT LOOK HER IN THE EYE"

I love how Janis is trying to get Cady to come back to them and Damien's encouraging her to impress Regina
Renee Rapp is the perfect mean girl in this movie. She did such an amazing job being regina. There were parts where she really was like Rachel McAdams Regina. She really is like the baddest Regina.
My jaw DROPPED when she unbuttoned her jacket
we can all agree Reneè is the saving grace on this movie
I actually think she's the one thing preventing it from succeeding. She's not playing Regina George, she's just doing whatever the hell she feels like.
She’s too masculine for Regina George

Agree 👍🏾 it’s not you! Renee is fine and all but ahhh the wardrobe, her back must be destroyed after carrying the weight of this whole movie
yess. i grew up with the original and im not opposed to this movie at all but the wardrobe and set design are taking me out of the experience /:
It was initially intended to be direct to streaming, before they decided on releasing to theaters. So that may have affected the budget.
It was Janis talking to Cady in the toilet for me. I dunno, something about that whole scene and her acting felt off, it all just felt empty, there were these weird pauses, they gave Damian literally nothing, none of his lines, the girl wasn't bothered by him in the bathroom, it was just so quiet and empty. This is my first look at this movie, but so far this clip has not interested me at all! Adding on the fact they removed all of the song, just eh
@kierancampire I think they did pretty well with casting Damian and I love his "yes, what shade?" line. But it's Janis that is bothering me. Not the casting itself but how they tamed her down to seem nicer. It feels like they missed the point of the OG movie in which Janis herself was a mean girl. She got Cady to do her dirty work to get revenge for something Regina did to her in 8th grade. Maybe she did see Cady as a friend towards the end, but she certainly was out to only use her when she realized Regina was interested in her. Janis was no better than Regina.
I love how it transitions from “musical” to movie. The editing/transition was so smooth. It transports you from a musical into the storyline if that makes sense! Kind of genius
Damien is such a vibe LMAO
how can you not like women??? reneé did something to me bro😻😫

"Its from an old movie. Juno! I think" that stung for me
This movie officially made me a fan of Reneé. I'm loving her show on HBO, and I still think this song should've been longer
I think Bebe and Avantika would've done well with Gretchen and Karen's verses from the Broadway version.
Imagine Regina sing that song in full pink and fur and luxurious looking would have been prefect
Cady is me staring at Renee 🧎♀️🧎♀️
Unpopular opinion: I think the removal of Gretchen and Karen’s parts works really well for the movie. Sure, it’s a great song in the stage production, but it’s very theatrical. This version is way more menacing, and having the focus be all on Regina makes it clear how important she is even within the plastics. I also love the choice to have Renée sing to the camera and Cady, and then the extreme Dolly shot of Cady being drawn in by Regina.
