People actually do weird stuff like this in real life when they’re feeling awkward and uncomfortable. It may not be singing but it could be something else to disarm their internal awkward tension. Good comics tap into human experiences like this with exaggerated characterization

Or misspelled it, or decided to add an -s on the end not because of anything LGBTQ, ect related, but because they like the 'they' thing and wanted to make sure they got paid right. Because they were still sitting roughly only slightly above what they were getting paid when they originally graduated and became a teacher.

As a substitute teacher in a school that never tells subs anything, never has plans ready on time, and is unclear about all their expectations, I relate to this 🤣
I subbed for a few months before going to grad school, and I’m glad most of the time it was clear enough what I needed to do and teach. My blood pressure went through the roof during the times I felt completely lost.

I didn't know what to expect when i heard Megan was hosting, i mean she is an incredible performer but she really did a terrific job in every single sketch

As a former teacher, this really hit the nail on the head. When a sub is called in, he or she does not necessarily know the Class's subject matter. Administrators could care less. They require a warm body in the classroom in order to collect their Federal Funding. LOL
You missed the point: black teachers being “racist” by projecting their own stereotypes on students and insisting the odds are against them.
Subs should know the schools they’re going to. And they’re told the subject and given a list of student names. She assumed Amy had a “ghetto” name and that the students couldn’t read and needed her inspiration.
As a black Amy in science I screamed perfect 😭

I love how Ego just walked into the classroom, thinking “I don’t know anything, what am I going to teach them?” And decided to just do that whole speech, and coast on that for an hour!
Idk why but I feel like this was one of Meg's best sketches of the night! Really love the angle they went with. It's been a while since we got one of these subversive classroom sketches, good to see it back.

As a black woman with a Bachelor's in English, and a Master's in History who keeps getting asked how she learned to speak proper English and learned French, I can relate to this.

A black teacher just assuming that a class full of black kids is dumb is hilarious! I feel like it would have been so easy to make the teacher white because this kind of skit has been done to death. But having the substitute be black as well and way out of her depth and making the kids geniuses were great subversions and definitely made the skit funnier than it could have been otherwise.
Funny story yet my true story I actually had a teacher like that but he was a man lol

In my urban high school, we had a new math teacher who promised that if we could pass our standardized math tests that she would take us to a very fancy Italian restaurant. She spent almost 20 minutes giving us a speech about how we could achieve lol. She turned red when we all revealed to her that we had passed with maybe the exception of 1 or 2 students ! She double checked with the office and kept her promise. She chartered a school bus to take our whole class. It was a great outing, and I still visit that restaurant to this day because of her. Needless to say, I doubt if she made an expensive mistake like that again.

I think she is a college graduate though.
She went to Texas A&M but halted her school for her career until she finished her BS in Health Administration in December 2021 at Texas Southern University. She is 27 years old as of 2022.
And Ego went to an excellent public STEM school. I wonder if this is based on an actual sub she had. (She went on to get a degree in biology from USC. )

@@soocool78 Maybe in FL... in our state you now just need a HS diploma. This is so they can allow paraprofessionals and office workers cover the classrooms. We have even pulled lunch and recess aides when necessary.

That Amy made me laugh, I have a friend named Tonisha and she hates her name, she's black but she hates how it perpetuates this kind of stereotype. She has a daughter and everyone always thinks her name is gonna be something like that, no her daughters name is Isabel and people are always surprised she gets so mad!

Teachers work hard in this country in spite of the challenges they face from discipline issues to a lack of parental and administrative support. They are on their own in many cases to make sure everyone's kids can compete with Johnny Silver Spoon.

I thought this video was just comedy until everything in it happened to my classmates last week during fourth period, a substitute kept making motivational speeches like this even though we were a Legal Environment of Business class
My classmates emailed the teacher saying that they were either scared, annoyed, or offended the entire period and the teacher's other classes did so as well...
When the teacher came back, they complained the entire period
She thought it was public school 🤣
